Bug or workaround?

I posted a question 2 days ago on this and the Flash Forum,
but to no avail.
All I wanted to know was why does a Flash/Captivate movie
take up 100% CPU even when paused? I'm using the latest Flash
Player from the Adobe download site.
Does anyone know if this is a bug. Hasn't anyone else
discovered this problem? If so, is there a workaround, because
without one the product is unusable for my end-clients who will
need to pause the Captivate presentation and try what they have
seen in the software we have sold them.
I would have thought this was a fundamental question. Does
anyone from Adobe monitor these forums?

Hi Mister C. Thank you for your comments.
3.0.1.589 is the version I am using. I've only just bought
it, but it did download an update today, so I don't know what
version the problem presentations were created in.
But they do contain realtime recordings, so you've got it
right there.
I'm assuming then that the problem is hard-coded into the SWF
files, so cannot be undone with an update to Captivate, thus
requiring a re-recording of the files. If that's likely to be the
problem then at least it's a solution.

• MySQL/j Stored procedure on Server Failure? is it a bug? workaround?

Hi all, with the release of SE 6 pending, I thought that this issue should be addressed. As I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, I decided to post in this forum to see if anybody has haad experience with it, has a workaround or any other information that could be usefull.
The issue:
MySQL v5.x offers stored procedures. the MySQL/j connector has the ability to call these procedures.
If you run the stored procedure localy through Java, the stored procedure executes perfectly.
Once deployed onto a server, and the stored procedures on the same server in a mysql database and "ALL PRIVILAGES" including "EXECUTE ROUTINE" are granted. The stored procedure fails to run.
The error returned by the mysql/j connector is this :
"Driver requires declaration of procedure to either contain a 'nbegin' or 'n' to follow argument declaration, or SELECT privilege on mysql.proc to parse column types."
Here is a link to a MySQL forum about the issue:
http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?98,67532,67532#msg-67532
So it appears that it is a java issue.
Is there a workaround?
Has anybody successfully been able to use Java with MySQL stored Procedures?? (Pretty sad if we havn't)
Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
cheers!

Yes, I read through the threads, that is Why I cam here after posting back with MySQL trying all the suggeestions, I still can't find the thread from the MySQL/J developer, I did find the one from a MySQL developer though.
We can't actually change permissions oursevles with our currecnt Servlet host.
So they changed permissions for us:
We checked to see if we had permissions, All permissions are granted for the localhost.
currently not sure how to check them for the '%' assignment
Our host also tried to drop the procedurees and create them again with the invoker command, but this was also to no avail.
I was also sure that it was a MySQL issue, but was hoping someobody had another method of a workaround.
It seems to be something to do with Java wanting the metadata for registering output variables.

• Insert streaming flv bug - any workaround?

If inserting an flv and choosing Streaming Video, the Server URI field doesn't accept much of anything without throwing the foolowing error:
"Please enter valid server URI in the form of rtmp://myserver/myapp/myinstance"
In fact, the above "myserever" URI is the only one it accepts?!
I know I can code this by hand, but the reason for wanting to find a workaround for this bug and be able to use a VALID URI is that the auto-sensing of width/height is very handy.
Any ideas anyone?

Hi
As this works without problems for me, I can only suggest that you may have a 'bad' installation, or that you are doing something wrong. Have you tried following the info on inserting/preparing flv for streaming, at - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7c9 ea.html, or http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/learning_guide/video/.

• XML Export Bug - Any workarounds?

Before we go any further, I am running 5.0.3 and I HAVE created a bug report, but since I'm not expecting a new release (bug fix) in the next couple of days/weeks I was hoping the community here might have a workaround or know if there is something I am doing to cause this.
I'm creating a new project with DSLR 1080p/25 settings. I've also tried other 1080p/25 settings and it makes no difference.
I import lots of DSLR 1080p/25 footage (from Canon DSLRs) and several audio only files from a Zoom, recorded at 48Khz. All footage shows in the project correctly (1080p/25) and the footage shows at 48Khz. So far so good.
Drop the footage and audio on to a sequence and export to XML and send to PluralEyes.
Now, I've been using PluralEyes with FCP for a while and it's an excellent product - I really can't recommend it enough, and their tech support is also 1st class. So, with this in mind, it was rather odd that the version for Premiere Pro wasn't syncing as well as the FCP version. Following a few emails back and forth with Singular Software (PluralEyes) it turns out that some of the files (the audio files) are being exported to the XML file incorrectly. They are being exported with a rate of 29.97 and not 25. Not only is the frame rate incorrect, but the duration is set to match 29.97 and not 25.
Here are some extracts from the XML:
PPro Exported as :
<rate>
<timebase>30</timebase>
<ntsc>TRUE</ntsc>
</rate>
<duration>252824</duration>
<timecode>
Should have been:
<rate>
<timebase>25</timebase>
</rate>
<duration>210897</duration>
I am wondering if there is anything I could have done to cause this, maybe in the way I imported files or created projects / sequences etc, or if anyone knows of any work around to force PP to correctly interpret these files?

The Interpret Footage Option is disabled....

• .rotation on Video() only works on videos smaller than 5mb. Bug, any workarounds?

UPDATE: Found some reliable reproduction on my end.
Shorter videos tend to rotate just fine, longer videos tend to not rotate but become parallelograms. All on one build. Is there perhaps some metadata tags I need to add to my videos?
UPDATE: Found more reliable repro.
.mp4 files smaller than 5mb have no problem rotating, .mp4 files over 5mb do not rotate, they only skew.
Using standard netstream/netconnection/video setup for streaming video, any mp4 files over 5mb will not rotate when using video.rotation
Videos larger than 5mb skew by the number of degrees you specify, but not rotate.
Videos smaller than 5mb rotate by the number of degrees, and do not skew
100% reproducable on my end: Win 7 x64, Flash Pro CS6 (12.0.2.529), testing on PC and several android devices of varying make/model.
Questions:
-Is this air for android specific?
-Is there a workaround?
-Does this happen on screen rotate too? (It happens when rotating the entire swf, when rotating the parent, and when rotating the parent's parent.)
-Does this happen with older versions of Air for Android, and/or actionscript?
OLD THREAD:
This has been very problematic for me.
When I try to use video.rotation = 90; in code, rather than rotating the video 90 degrees, it disappears. But this only happens sometimes when I publish. I can make zero changes, clear publish cache, and sometimes it is broken like this, sometimes it isn't and works perfectly fine. I can't figure out what is changing to make it compile differently. I've tried in all render modes (publishing to Android, so: Direct, CPU, GPU, Auto) with no changes in this specific behavior.
I've tried putting the video inside of a movieclip, and rotating the movieclip only, and it still occurs.
I've tried directly copy/pasting another successfully rotating item's code to video, same problem still occurs.
I've tried re-ordering it, and putting rotation before and after x/y/w/h changes, removing x/y/w/h changes, same problem.
Restarting my computer usually fixes the problem for 1-2 solid publishes before it starts happening again.
The code is located towards the bottom of this post.
I've tried changing the rotation to 45, and I figured out how the video disappears, but not why. video rotation goes from rotating the whole video, to only moving the right-most points, and creates a parallelogram.
(Height and Width are pre-established variables, with values partaining to the overall container size, which is not always 768*432 ratio)
video.x = Width;
video.y=0;
video.width = Height;
video.height = video.width/768*432;
video.rotation=90;
Please tell me I am just missing something incredibly simple here, and that this is not a bug.

i don't see a problem testing on flash pro cs6 win 7 pro 64bit using an flvplayback component and a 964 MB mp4.

• Pekwm dynamic menus bug - any workaround?

I've run into a pekwm bug that's present in both the version in [extra] and the git version, and is basically a showstopper: entries in dynamic menus, generated like this
Entry { Actions = "Dynamic /directory/to/script" }
become unselectable after the first time their parent menu is opened. In other words, each submenu of a dynamic menu can only be used once; after that the main menu must be closed and called again. This is a pretty big pain in the neck.
I've tried, as a workaround, creating a menu that would refresh only when pekwm gets reloaded, as is done in the default menu for virtual desktops:
Submenu = "Applications" { COMMAND = "/path/to/menu/generator" }
But that doesn't work; it simply doesn't produce a menu. How can I work around this obnoxious bug? Is there any way to get menu-refresh-on-reload working?

• ICal printing bug and workaround

iCal 8.0 (2026) OS X 10.10 French
When I try to print a calendar and in my iCal preferences "start week on" is set to monday, the printed calendar starts with tuesday
and when I try to print a calendar and in my iCal preferences "start week on" is set to sunday, the printed calendar starts with monday.
In my case, to set "start week on" to sunday is a workaround.
Thanks for reading me.
Best regards and cheers.

This issue is driving me nuts. Apple doesn't seem to care. I reported the issue to Apple the day Yosimite was released and a fix has not been in any of the updates.
Note also that the calendar does not print correctly from iCloud in weekly view.
Another issue is that you cannot print the date of the printing of the calendar. Often I print several calendars a week and by Sunday I don't know what is the latest copy printed. I have asked them to fix that as well.

• Optimized subsampling: bug and workaround

(CS3 and CS5. Mac).
InDesign appears to have some really bad defaults for the printer internals of "Send Data: Optimized subsampling" in the Graphics pane of the print dialog.
We moved from an HP 8150DN to a Xerox Phaser 7500DX. On the Xerox, 1bpp images come out looking abysmal when Optimized subsampling is turned on. On the HP, they were fine. Here's a scan of the difference. The left image is optimized subsampling on the Xerox (in case you couldn't tell!); the right is "Send Data: All" on the Xerox:
Why does this happen?
Well, Adobe's documentation isn't so good, but Real World InDesign CS5 (Olav Kvern, David Blatner, and Bob Bringhurst; who is Olav, anyhow?) tells us:
Black-and-white (bi-level images). When you're printing bi-level, black-and-white images, and have selected Optimized Subsampling, InDesign matches the images it sends to the resolution of the output device. … FOR THOSE WHO REALLY WANT TO KNOW, INDESIGN GETS THE PRINTER'S RESOLUTION FROM THE DefaultResolution KEYWORD IN THE PPD.
[EMPHSIS mine]. It appears the PPD situation with the Xerox printer is fairly weird. Fundamentally, Xerox ships a PPD file that lacks a DefaultResolution keyword. So it appears that InDesign has a very bad default -- it presumes that a PPD that specifies no resolution means it should assume a resolution of 25dpi or so.
If we edit the PPD file to add:
*DefaultResolution: 600dpi
*SetResolution 600dpi: ""
then suddenly Optimized Subsampling works fine.
It turns out the reality is a bit stranger. In Xerox's Mac drivers for the 7500DX, they ship "Xerox Phaser 7500DX.mpkg", an OSX package file. Inside that file they ship several Contents/Archive.pax.gz files (basically tar files), one in Contents/Packages/xeroxPrintDriver.pkg and one in Contents/Packages/xps104.pkg. The xps104 version is the one that gets installed, it's a 724440-byte file that ends with "*% End of XR7500DX.PPD, 724439 bytes."
But the xeroxPrintDriver version is different -- among other things, it has a *DefaultResolution line:
*DefaultResolution: 600dpi
*SetResolution 600dpi: ""
*% === Halftone Information ========
*DefaultHalftoneType: 9
*ScreenFreq: "60.0"
*ScreenAngle: "45.0"
*DefaultScreenProc: Dot
*ScreenProc Dot: "{180 mul cos exch 180 mul cos add 2 div} bind"
*DefaultTransfer: Null
*Transfer Null: "{ }"
*Transfer Null.Inverse: "{1 exch sub} bind"
*DefaultColorSep: ProcessBlack.60lpi.600dpi/60 lpi / 600 dpi
*% === For 60 lpi / 600 dpi  ===============================
*ColorSepScreenAngle ProcessBlack.60lpi.600dpi/60 lpi / 600 dpi: "45.0"
(Its a 617603-byte file with "% Date: 07/06/05" in the initial headers and ends with "*%end of PPD file for Xerox Phaser 7500DX")
Maybe we should just switch to using the xeroxPrintDriver version, I don't know.
Really, this situation is quite annoying. Xerox installs a print driver that lacks a *DefaultResolution, screwing over InDesign users who use the default setting of Optimized subsampling. InDesign has a horrible default that chooses 25dpi instead of 300dpi or 600dpi if no resolution is specified.
Does anyone know who the right person at Xerox is to get their side fixed? I suppose we'll submit a wishform bug report to Adobe on this (grr, I hate being a volume license customer sometimes. Maybe if I buy a single copy of InDesign at street rates then can I submit real bug reports and get useful responses and tracking numbers? Anyone know?).
Oh, some of you will ask why we use optimized subsampling at all? The short answer is that it often makes a material difference in the time to print proofs of high-resolution jobs. Of course real jobs are not printed in-house on these printers, but we do proofs all the time. And a casual benchmark showed one job going from 18 minutes to 36 minutes, and another going from 5 minutes to 18 minutes; that's from switching off Optimized Subsampling. So it does have some real value for us. (I think, though, there might be a network problem with the printer those benchmarks were done on. Not sure. But the person doing the benchmarks did them on our slowest hardware to get a worst-case estimate.)
Any thoughts?

Some excellent sleuthing work.
As for
I suppose we'll submit a wishform bug report to Adobe on this ...
-- the wishform is nothing more than that, "I wished ..", and probably (likely ) Adobe only goes through this when they have absolutely nothing else left to do.
.. (grr, I hate being a volume license customer sometimes. Maybe if I buy a single copy of InDesign at street rates then can I submit real bug reports and get useful responses and tracking numbers? Anyone know?).
I wouldn't put my faith in Adobe's Customer Support either. They would probably give it a half-hearted try at their end (which of course works fine because they don't use a Xerox), tell you they can't reproduce the problem, then tell you not to use optimised sub-sampling, advise you to test with some other printer, and finally state "it's not our problem, complain to Xerox" and hang up on you.

• Quoted replies: editing/display BUG and workarounds?

I'm frequently responding inline to quoted text emails.
Mail.app has the annoying behavior of losing my cursor, or inserting characters where my carat isn't located (especially on when editing multi-paragraph quoted text). And, sometimes there are display/draw bugs as well, where there are lines displayed on-screen that cannot be edited out.
In short, it's a real pain.
So: are there ways to convince Mail.app to be "dumber" about quoting? Say, to just use ">" straight text quoting like the rest of the world? If not, here's a feature request for the development team: fix the quoting issues, and show ">" indents, especially when I'm in "Plain Text" mode.
Cheers!
PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I am having similar problem. I was importing from a video camera and checking the event library constantly to see that everything looked good - thumbnails, audio etc . Got to end of tape before iMovie crashed. When I opened it back up, clips in Event library are greyed out, but can mouse over and see them. Audio is completely gone though. Now half the time I click on an event with this problem, iMovie crashes, so I have deleted the greyed out events since it appears they cause instability. Oddly, the only clip to survive several crashes was the last one I captured - a very short one (1:35). Is there a size limit on events? I can't get past the capture process to even attempt editing and creating projects.
I have only recently started using iMovie. I am on a PowerMac G5 with 180GB available, so do not think space a problem. Using Leopard, iLife '08...have switched back and forth between Quicktime versions (suggested on other thread) but did not make a difference for me.

• Group replica place bug (w/ workaround)

Hi all,
I've been working with the latest version of Ultiboard (10.1.357) on WinXP SP3, and have come across a rather annoying bug with the group replica place functionality.
Specifically, I'm working with SMT components that are on both sides of the board, and group replica place isn't properly replicating the group. Specifically, the placement of the replicated parts is in the right overall pattern, but exact placement is subtly different, causing subsequent Copy Route commands to generate loads of DRC errors. (And, that makes perfect sense given that the part placement by GRP is not a true copy!)
I've found that by going through the group replica place sequence twice in a row, however, solves the problem. The subtle misalignments go away, and the resulting part arrangement, orientations, etc. are the intended copy of the source part group.
The attached images exemplify the behavior. GRP_1.jpg shows the buggy placement following the first run-through of the GRP sequence. GRP_2.jpg and GRP_2wtraces.jpg show the results after going through the sequence again and following a Copy Route, respectively.
Here's hoping this is helpful to those wanting to use GRP successfully! I know I sure was disheartened when it failed initially -- I need to use this on some 96 part groups, and dispaired at doing it all manually...

• BUG: can't download multiple iBooks from same Author, workaround found

Hello,
Symptom:
We created ~12 iBooks (files) but the iBooks app in iOS wouldn't accept more than one iBook. You could download the files via various channels (Google Drive, Safari, etc.) and try to "Open In... iBooks" but only the first iBook you installed would open (and later be visible). You cannot also download a newer version (same name) of the first iBook. If you delete the first iBook, you can again download/install/open just file. This is a bug.
Root Problem?
We created later iBooks by changing the content of the previous one and then saving it. We believe there is unique 'project' metadata within each new iBook project you create (from which iBook files comes). This is not visible or configurable within iBooks Author. We think the iBooks app sees that project metadata, thinks its the same book , and then opens that first iBook. The file you downloaded is on the device but the iBook database can't accept it not the bookshelf present it. Its likely orphaned within the device.
Workaround
Until Apple fixes the bug, the workaround is to always create a 'new' iBooks project in iBook Author for each iBook you wish to publish. If you need to re-use content, copy-paste it from the old project into the new one.
Solution
Perhaps iBooks (app) could sense the name, author, and version number when iBooks Author saves the .ibook file and treat that combination (maybe as a hash) as the unique version value.

Hi KayNeine
Thanks for your post with this workaround. This certainly seems to tally with my experience and the hidden metadata theory does seem to answer why it is happening. Just need Apple to acknowledge and address the problem.
As this Support Community obviously isn't moderated by Apple can I suggest as many people as possible use the iBooks Author Feedback Form to report their issues. Hopefully then, someone at Apple might take note and try and rectify these problems.
http://www.apple.com/feedback/ibooks-author.html
This is available from the iBooks Author App in the menu: iBooks Author > Provide iBooks Author Feedback.

• UWC/CE 6.3 and Access Manager 7.1 SSO sometimes fails (seems like a bug)

PREAMBULA: I started writing this post thinking that our AM SSO setup was at fault in some step. As I was gathering data, checking the doc-links and config files and finally sniffed the servers for HTTP dialogs, I grew pretty sure there's a bug in UWC/CE, AM SDK or Web Server Policy Agent, whatever implements the AM SSO session checking.
In short, as written below, our "sunmail" server can POST a broken cookie to AM server, if the cookie originally contained a "plus" character. The "plus" is replaced by a "space", invalidating the session check. As we know, "+" is often used in URLs to "escape" the space character. Perhaps some URL cleanup routine backfired here. I have double-checked, it is not the reverse proxy on "psam" breaking things. It is "sunmail" (UWC/CE or Policy Agent, don't know for certain) supplying the broken request. On the few occasions when the AM cookie contains no "plus" characters, the SSO works like a charm (also checked by a sniffer). Whenever there is a "plus", it breaks.
Is there some known bug or workaround that matches this description?
Nevertheless, for completeness' sake I kept the description of our setup. Maybe it's at fault after all :)
We have an installation of JCS5 with the latest patches as of early July 2008. And as the subject implies, we have problems with AM SSO in UWC/CE web-interface. I have reported them before, then they seemed fixed (not occuring for several tests in a row), but as time has shown, something wrong is still there.
So I'll try to go into deeper detail now, as we've may have overlooked some nuance... Then again, as my sniffer research below shows, this may be an engine bug and these setup details are irrelevant.
Our setup is split into several Solaris 10 full-root zones hosted on several servers, some of the components are enroute to HA (perhaps we made some mistakes on this part of the way?)
So, we have the following software stack:
1) two MMR Directory Servers (DSEE 6.3 = DSEE 6.2 from JCS5 + 125278-07__DSEE_6.3__x86x64 + 125277-07__DSEE_6.3__x86_sol9 patches) working in zones on two different servers. Except for one time when a manually forced ZFS rollback corrupted one of the server instances, no problems here.
2) two zones with Directory Proxy Servers (6.3, exact versions as above) running at port 389 provide the clients with an illusion that they have a stable Directory Server, even if one of the actual servers is currently rebooting ;)
These DPS zones are hosted on two different servers as well and are primarily used by LDAP clients (JCS components) running in other zones on the same respective servers.
3) A zone with Sun Web Server 7.0U1 and Access Manager 7.1 (+ 126357-01__AM71_x86 patch) and Delegated Admin 6.4-4.01 (from JCS5 + 121582-18__COMMCLI64__x86 patch).
At the moment there is one such zone (named "cos-psam-01.domain.ru" in the logs below), but we expect(-ed) it to become two similar zones as per AM HA setup.
Zones listed in (1-3) use private IP numbers, they belong in our internal DMZ.
Zones listed in (4-5) below use public (routed) IP numbers, they belong in our external DMZ.
4) A zone with Sun Web Server 7.0U1 used primarily as a reverse-proxy server (optionally with a load-balancer libpassthrough.so plugin) successfully used for other hosted projects. One of its configurations now passes connections from an externally routed IP address published as "psam.domain.ru" to "cos-psam-01.domain.ru", per AM HA setup, so HTTP clients believe they work with an Access Manager instance. This zone has a backend interface with a private IP address to communicate with the actual AM instance.
In AM configuration (both LDAP and file-based) we have configured a site ID with the publicly known name and mentioned both names (psam and cos-psam-01) in organization's realm/dns aliases.
5) A zone with the rest of the Sun Java Communications Suite 5, as in Messaging Server 6.3 (6.3-6.03 64-bit: ci-5.0-1.03_solx86_x64__Messaging_Server_6.3-2 + patch 126480-09__MSG63__x86-64), UWC/CE 6.3 (from JCS5 + 122794-17__UWC63-4.01_core__x86), Instant Messaging 7.2 (from JCS5 + 118790-29__IM72__x86-1 + 118787-28__IM72__x86-2), Calendar Server 6.3 (from JCS5 + 121658-28__iCS63__x86). The web-components (UWC/CE, IM, /httpbind) are deployed in a Sun Web Server 7.0U1 as well.
This zone is named "sunmail.domain.ru" and has a routed IP address for direct external access to its servicess.
The AM SDK part is also patched (126357-01__AM71_x86); it points to the load-balancer name ("psam.domain.ru") as an actual AM server.
# imsimta version

libimta.so 6.3-6.03 (built 17:15:08, Mar 14 2008; 64bit)
SunOS sunmail 5.10 Generic_127112-07 i86pc i386 i86pc
While setting up this server set we tried to use AM SSO as the user login method, but it works unreliably.
"Unreliably" means that while most of the time entering a correct uid and password in Access Manager login page ("http://psam.domain.ru/amserver/UI/Login") does redirect a user back to "http://sunmail.domain.ru/uwc/auth" along with a new cookie, and the user is redirected again to his or her mailbox, sometimes the user receives the UWC/CE login page. Entering the same uid and password here does log him in, but it breaks the whole point of SSO and only increases the end-user routine required to log in :\
We have also seen the "missing mail tab" problem - if the users point the browser to any hostname different from "sunmail.domain.ru" (i.e. www.mail.domain.ru which is equivalent in DNS), they have only the Address book, Calendar and Options tabs; no webmail. So far this is resolved by Policy Agent forcing The One name of the server.
Here's the configuration we did specifically for AM SSO:
1) in AMConfig.properties of "sunmail" and "cos-psam-01" we set up
com.iplanet.am.cookie.encode=false
am.encryption.pwd=<the same value>
all hostname-related parameters point to "psam.domain.ru"
2) in AMConfig.properties of "cos-psam-01" a number of FQDN equivalence entries are added (so it does not redirect to a server hostname unknown to visitors):
com.sun.identity.server.fqdnMap[publicname-or-ip]=psam.domain.ru
com.sun.identity.server.fqdnMap[cos-psam-01.domain.ru]=cos-psam-01.domain.ru
3) in "msg.conf" on "sunmail" (entries added via configutil):
local.webmail.sso.amcookiename = iPlanetDirectoryPro
local.webmail.sso.amnamingurl = http://psam.domain.ru:80/amserver/namingservice
local.webmail.sso.singlesignoff = yes
local.webmail.sso.uwcenabled = 1
service.http.ipsecurity = no
(perhaps some more options are required? Looking for confirmation about: local.webmail.sso.uwclogouturl local.webmail.sso.uwccontexturi local.webmail.sso.uwchome service.http.allowadminproxy )
4) Configured Web Policy Agent for Sun Web Server, so that users without an AM session are required to get one. Set up per [http://msg.wikidoc.info/index.php/AM_redirection_using_Policy_Agent], except that com.sun.am.policy.agents.config.notenforced_list points to the many names our server can go known by.
5) Updated the logout URL in /opt/SUNWuwc/webmail/main.js:
--- main.js.orig        Sat Jan 26 07:52:09 2008

}6) Calendar SSO - per docs...
According to ngrep sniffing,
1) the browser goes to "http://sunmail.domain.ru/uwc/auth" without any cookies
2) receives a redirect and goes to "http://psam.domain.ru/amserver/UI/Login?gotoOnFail=http://sunmail.domain.ru:80/uwc&goto=http%3A%2F%2Fsunmail.domain.ru%3A80%2Fuwc%2Fauth"; sends no cookies either.
3) The first response from the "psam" server (as redirected from "cos-psam-01") sets a few cookies while rendering the login page:
Set-cookie: JSESSIONID=7EF8F2810D2071CA03CFEAE9972735B2; Path=/
Set-cookie: AMAuthCookie=AQIC5wM2LY4SfcwuT2ASCrsfO78nXdceEHXeH1+xTqH7C3I=@AAJTSQACMDI=#; Domain=.domain.ru; Path=/
Set-cookie: amlbcookie=02; Domain=.domain.ru; Path=/
4) The browser requests the login page resources (javascripts, images, etc) using these cookies, as in this header line:
Cookie: JSESSIONID=7EF8F2810D2071CA03CFEAE9972735B2; AMAuthCookie=AQIC5wM2LY4SfcwuT2ASCrsfO78nXdceEHXeH1+xTqH7C3I=@AAJTSQACMDI=#; amlbcookie=02
5) The browser POSTs the login request to "/amserver/UI/Login" and receives a redirection to http://sunmail.domain.ru:80/uwc/auth
Set-cookie: iPlanetDirectoryPro=AQIC5wM2LY4SfcwuT2ASCrsfO78nXdceEHXeH1+xTqH7C3I=@AAJTSQACMDI=#; Domain=.domain.ru; Path=/
Set-cookie: AMAuthCookie=LOGOUT; Domain=.domain.ru; Expires=Thu, 01-Jan-1970 00:00:10 GMT; Path=/
6) The browser requests "http://sunmail.domain.ru/uwc/auth" using the newly set cookie (looks like the old one to me though):
Cookie: amlbcookie=02; iPlanetDirectoryPro=AQIC5wM2LY4SfcwuT2ASCrsfO78nXdceEHXeH1+xTqH7C3I=@AAJTSQACMDI=#
7) The "sunmail" web-server checks the AM session validity with the same "psam.domain.ru". It sends a series of POSTs to /amserver/namingservice:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<RequestSet vers="1.0" svcid="com.iplanet.am.naming" reqid="685">
<Request><![CDATA[
<NamingRequest vers="1.0" reqid="324" sessid="AQIC5wM2LY4SfcwuT2ASCrsfO78nXdceEHXeH1+xTqH7C3I=@AAJTSQACMDI=#">
<GetNamingProfile>
</GetNamingProfile>
</NamingRequest>]]>
</Request>
</RequestSet>(receives a large XML list of different Access Manager configuration parameters and URLs)
...then a double-request to /amserver/sessionservice:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<RequestSet vers="1.0" svcid="Session" reqid="686">
<Request><![CDATA[
<SessionRequest vers="1.0" reqid="678">

</Request>

</AddSessionListener>
</SessionRequest>]]>
</Request>
</RequestSet>As a result it receives an XML with a lot of user-specific information (the username, LDAP DN, preferred locale, auth module used, etc.)
!!!*** Now, the problem part ***!!!
8) And then "sunmail" POSTs a broken cookie to "psam" (note the space in mid-text, where the "plus" sign was previously).
I looked over the large XML responses to the two previous requests, whenever they mention the session cookie value, the "plus" is there.
For the most detail I can provide, I'll even paste the whole HTTP packet:
POST /amserver/sessionservice HTTP/1.1
Proxy-agent: Sun-Java-System-Web-Server/7.0

There have been a few reports of the same behaviour with other customers - specifically with the handling of the encoding of "+" characters to " ". It relates to how cookie encoding/decoding is performed (as you have already observed).
The solution for these customers was the following:
=> AM server/client side:
Ensure that com.iplanet.am.cookie.encode=false in AMConfig.properties and AMAgent.properties on all systems.
=> AM client (UWC) side:
- Set <property name="encodeCookies" value="false"/> in /var/opt/SUNWuwc/WEB-INF/sun-web.xml. This will prevent UWC from trying to urldecode the cookie it receives and therefore stops it turning the + into a space e.g.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE sun-web-app PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Sun ONE Application Server 7.0 Servlet 2.3//EN' 'file:///net/wajra.india.sun.com/export/share/dtd/sun-web-app_2_3-1.dtd'>
<sun-web-app>
<property name="encodeCookies" value="false"/>
<session-config>
<session-manager/>
</session-config>
<jsp-config/>
<property name="allowLinking" value="true" />
</sun-web-app>Regards,
Shane.

• Bugs in PSE-12

They say that re-marriage is the triumph of hope over experience. Upgrading to the latest version of Elements with the hope that Adobe will have fixed existing bugs is rather similar. Here is my current list:
If one uses thumbnail images larger than the minimum then when scrolling through them a random selection disappear. One can bring them back with “Update Thumbnail”, but not for long. Thanks to several people for suggestions on this, but avoiding to increase thumbnail size is the only thing I have found to work.
There is a new bug in creating versions sets. I uploaded perhaps 40 images from a camera and edited them. As always, I saved edited images in version sets. However, on returning to the Organizer, I discovered that perhaps about a third of the items had not been converted into Version Sets, although the edited files “IMG_nnnn_edited-1” did exist in the folder. This is a super pain, because I had to check item by item, import the missing edited files, and then simulate versions sets using stacks.
The list of places in the Tag list which was imported from PSE-10 is not in anything like Alphabetical order, even though that is the default in the preferences. In fact “places” no longer behaves at all as it used to, so will need much more research…
A “feature”, if not a bug: if one allows PSE to tag faces, this creates a phenomenal number of separate “breeze” file. I have 35’000! Hence making a backup, or copying the Catalogue directory, takes an age.
For the first time ever, I crashed the PSE editor, which is far more robust than the organizer. I am not sure how I managed this, but will add to the post if I learn more.

I can't reproduce this problem.
Edit:
Here is the link to your previous post:

It's interesting to note you are working with a high resolution screen.

Many posts already about this acknowledged bug, for workarounds see:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1328850
I agree it's a severe bug, which means, among others, that you won't be able to backup those 'missed' files.
Edit:
Unless, of course, if you use the workaround which is to kill the autoanylzer background task...
The list of places in the Tag list which was imported from PSE-10 is not in anything like Alphabetical order, even though that is the default in the preferences. In fact “places” no longer behaves at all as it used to, so will need much more research…
Sorry, I don't don't use the 'places' tab... I kept the old way.

Yes, many tiny files. I'd be surprised if those 35.000 files represent more than 1% of the total backup size, so negligible for the backup time; for a copy of the catalog folder, it's significant, though. I don't use people recognition either.

• Multi-select LOV bug and Developer6i R2 Patch7

Has anyone verified that Patch7 corrects the problem with multi-
select LOV bug (see below). The Headstart6i Report Launch form
(QMS0012F) exhibits this bug (when using the demo reports for
example) and we were unsuccessful applying the workaround (see
below). We will upgrade to Patch7 if this bug is fixed or we
could use a little help from the HeadStart team correcting the
Report Launch form to get around this bug. Thanks, Keith
We have found one odd quirk with Headstart 6i and Forms
6i versions 6.0.13 and higher.
Description ===========
1. When using a multi-select LOV (which is displayed in a modal
dialog window), you select the records you want, press OK, and
the application exits.
2. When using a shuttle control to move records from left to
right or vice versa, you select the records you want, press '>'
to move them, and the application exits. This occurs in Forms
6.0.8.13.0 and higher. It did NOT occur in prior releases. This
is some kind of forms bug.
Workaround ==========
For some reason the call to procedure 'renumber' in
qms$msel.process_records in qmslib65.pll causes the application
to exit. If you copy the code from renumber to all the places
from which it is called, it works fine.

So far as I know, this bug has not yet been corrected.
You will have to apply the fix as described in your email
message.
