Bug OSX lion

Since I havent got a Developer account I can't contact Apple directly with the bug I found.
My MBP (early 2011) is protected by a password, as in the system prefs --> security is set.
(Require password 5 minutes after sleep or screen saver begins)
I used cmd+tab when I needed to fill in the password and a app bought from the app store started. (I bought it several weeks ago, never used cmd+tab before when I needed to fill in my password)
Hopfully it's a known bug.. otherwise could someone report it.
Regards,

If you believe it to be a Lion bug then contact Apple
http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Otherwise as a brody says, I would be contacting the developers.
Good Luck

    I don't think you have a case.
You can replace the logic board yourself if you are a DIY'er and save some money.

  • Using osx lion, firefox 11 wont maximise after i have minimised it whilst downloading a file. is this a bug?

i have a mac mini running osx lion 10.7.3 and use the latest firefox 11. when i proceed to download a file and then minimise firefox, i cant maximise it again by clicking on the icon on my dock. i have to go to the taskbar and File>New Tab for firefox to maximise which is a pain in the ass. I've tried looking at settings but cant find anything and found nothing on a google search, so i'm thinking its a bug of some sort. Anyone one else have this issue?

This can be caused by anti-virus software/ real time scanners. Please try to disable your anti-virus software real time scanner and try again. Do not forget to enable it after the download is complete!'

  • OSX Lion bugs!

I just loaded OSX Lion and now my computer is slowly failing... MAC mail worked at first but has now crashed, Parallels wont run I need to purchase version 6... I should have listened to the bloggers! More of MY time and money... I miss my Leopard!

First off, neither Parallels, nor Lion will run on an iMac PPC.  It would be helpful to know what iMac you have.  Click on Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More info and find out your RAM, and your Machine ID.  According to:
http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/tags/_p/index_tags/_p you need version 6.0.12094 of Parallels to run Lion Smoothly.
Check the same website for all your other applications to ensure you have versions known to run smoothly on Lion.

  • Osx Lion Ldap bug

In light of the seriousness of the LDAP bug in Lion is Apple's advice not to allow devices with Lion installed any access to corporate networks?

OS X Lion fails to check passwords if authenticating via LDAP
    By Brad Sams, 24/08/11 - 20:43 , 21 comments
If you use OS X Lion, there is a little bug that you should be aware of if you value your private data. A new bug has cropped up that if you login to OS X Lion using the LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) method, the bug allows you to bypass any password to log in as long as you have a valid username.
The bug, discovered by h-online.com, has reportedly been verified by Apple. This new bug in Apple’s latest operating system shows that not even Apple is immune to imperfections on its OS. H-Online states:
A bug in the module for authenticating (Open)LDAP under Mac OS X 10.7.x Lion can result in any password being accepted during log-in – all that's required is a valid user name. The problem occurs when logging in both via a graphical interface on a client and over the web via SSH on a server. Lion does not use LDAP to log-in by default; LDAP authentication tends to be used in large infrastructures for centralised user administration (name, password, group, etc.).
With Apple aware of the bug, you would expect that they will be working diligently to patch the flaw. At this time, there have not been any reports of this exploit being used in the wild for malicious purposes.
For all the criticism that Microsoft receives over the exploits in its platform, it goes to show that security remains a ubiquitous problem on any software platform.
A security bug such as this represents a critical flaw that needs to be patched quickly. As the bug is now out in the wild, it will not be long before those with malicious intent will attempt to exploit this bug for personal gain.
[Update] d4v1d05 tipped us to let everyone know that this was originally discovered on a forum post over at MacRumors.

  • QuickTime 10.1 does not seem to be compatible with OSX Lion  - clicking on the displayed file window switches to another displayed app, doesn't play or control the video.

If I open a movie file (appears to be any type - .mov, m4v, mv4) it displays on the desktop, but when clicked, the Mac reverts to another open application (immediately UNDER to point of the mouse click) and not the displayed movie file.  It appears the screen mapping is flawed...
Anyone else have this problem? (does not appear to be a problem with QT7)  Running OSX Lion 10.7.3 and QT Player 10.1 (501.8) - all most current as far as I can tell...

Yes, same problem. The active clickable area appears to be shifted down and to the right as if it is the shadow mask (to make it look like layers in the display) that is responding. Means you can't move the control palette to the top of the window (to not block security video with time track at bottom) or even close the window. The X in the bubble appears when moused over but the click goes through it.
Most obvious if you open more than one movie at a time and they cascade. You can't get at the ones underneath until a few down the stack and it gets an upper wrong one.
      Who's testing these things?
For comparison testing to recreate problem: Mac Pro (System Information has also been dumbed down from System Profiler, push System Report for the useful stuff) with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 driving two displays.
Also viewing desktop of another computer on the network is slower and, for instance in World of Warcraft, the hand pointer flickers.
And finder windows can't be narrowed as much any more to show only a list of file names for drag and drop sorting.
Was hoping that by 10.7.3, it would be safe to jump, since several posts told me how to Terminal > networksetup -setv6off Ethernet to fix iTunes streaming to expresses and other dumb bugs.

  • Connection drop iMac to Apple TV - OSX Lion

    Hello.
Hope someone might have a solution. Ever since i changed to OSX Lion i have had a really irritating bug with my Wifi. While browsing, downloading and doing everyday stuff my connection is fine.
However when streaming movies and tv-shows to my Apple TV (2nd) i have been getting som nasty connection drops. Its not always but to often to be anoying since i havnt had this problem before.
Scenario: I can start a movie and watch almost an hour when all of a sudden the connection drops on my iMac Late 2009 - OSX Lion 10.7.3. Everytime this happens my Wifi icon turns gray and i need to shut the Wifi off and turn it on again and all works. But once it has started the connection drops every 10 min or so and i need to reboot the machine to be able to watch the movie like "normal".
The connection between my Airport Express and the Apple TV is no problem and works flawless but my Mac cant seem to handle the "heat". I didnt have this issue on SL so im a bit bugged about it.
    RSSI: -45
    SPEED: 130
    This is what ive tried.
    1. Repair the permissions thru the OS, and the Command and R at start up, including the "resetpassword" thing.
    2. Update firmware on my Aiport Express and downgraded since it just got worse.
    3. Updated the airport utility, but needed to install back the old one since the new for Lion doesnt support the switch between 2.4 and 5.0 band.
    4. Reset PRAM
    5. Reset SMC
    6. Rebuild the connection by deleteing and resetting the router.
    7. Done some cleanup with OnyX.
Now im out of ideas since nothing seem to work and i hate that i have all this Apple gear for thousands of dollars and the f**** Wifi ruins everything.
    Anyone?
    Cheers
    Chris

    I have the same issue

  • Do you have a problem connecting to Wi-Fi? (iMac Mid 2011 Model)Mac OSX Lion 10.7.3

Did you just start up or restart your mac recently? If you did you might have experineced a problem with your Wi-Fi. I was unable to access anything that required Wi-Fi. So what I did was I restarted my iMac and my Wi-Fi was working again.
What might have caused the problem
    A. The Wi-Fi chip did not start or restart (During the process of Starting or Restarting your iMac)
    B. It could be a bug in Mac OSX Lion 10.7.3 or lower.
I hoped this helped you out

If it was previously working then try a smc and pram reset.
If that doesn't fix it then see if vlc can handle the video.

  • OSX Lion 10.7.4 breaks custom login screen!

Help! I recently updated my MB to OSX Lion 10.7.4. I had to re-apply my custom menu bar and icons (as usual), but the first thing i noticed was that the login window was back to that disgusting linen texture. I thought the update just replaced the file, (didn't happen before), so I went to /System/Library/Frameworks/Appkit.framework/Versions/C/Resources/NsTexturedFull ScreenBackgroundColor.png. And then the file was the same, my previous login window.
So the question is: Where is the new login screen texture stored? I can change the mission control background, but no amount of goolging or anything provides accurate and working information to replace the login screen on 10.7.4.
Why would Apple break this all of a sudden?
The worse case scenario would be that Apple decided to troll and draw the login screen programmatically. Which should never be the case...

If you are using any system tools such as Mackeeper, Onyx, Macaroni, or AppleJack, caches can get corrupted, leading to other systemwide issues.    Stop using such tools.   If this is an erase and installed and updated system that still doesn't behave as you believe it should for the screen to work, then I would give Apple a bug report here:  http://bugreporter.apple.com/  after signing up for a http://developer.apple.com/ account and see if it is a known issue or not.

  • Quicktime Plugin Issue in Safari on Mac OSX Lion.

(Strange) Safari - Quicktime - issue on Mac OSX Lion (All Updates done - 20/11/2011)
Strange issue with Safari - Quicktime video playing - on Mac OSX Lion (All updates done till 20th Nov 2011 night)
Problem discovery: Tried to view the Apple iPhone 4S Keynote on Apple Website. Strange that Safari does not display any videos from Apple Website.
Following works OK:- You Tube worked fine.
    - Google Chrome worked fine. (It shows the quick time player loading and then displays the video absolutely fine.)
Conclusion: There is some problem with Safari Quicktime Plug-in.
    Strange Discovery:
    - There are two users on the MAC. Logged in with a general user (Non Admin)
    - When tried to view Apple Videos on Safary ... THEY WORKED FINE !!!
    - The user where they donot work is an ADMIN User ... Strange !!!
    System:
    - Mac-Mini 2010 - 8 GB RAM - with OSX Lion fully software updated until 20th Nov 2011 night.
    - DIVX is installed and is also a paid version - registered with DIVX website.
    - VLC is installed.
    - Perian was installed - after problem discovery - uninstalled it - no use.
Please help with a solution if anyone has faced and solved this problem. Sub question is : If DIVX / anyother plug-in causes problems with QuickTime plugin on Safari, why does it affect only one user on the system and not other users on that system ?
    Notes:
    1) There is a similar looking thread on MacRumors here but concluded that required to start a seperate one with clear problem statement.
    2) Apple Forums
    (a) One thread on topic that hints that some 3IVX plug-in can cause issues with Safari Quicktime Plugin: here
    (b) Another thread from Apple Forum, that hints that DIVX causes problems to Safari Quicktime Plug in, Link is Here

Refer to a thread on Apple Discussions Forum itself, Link is HERE; refer to the posting by "Charles Cole",

Re: Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
Aug 2, 2011 8:09 PM (in response to Landrix)
Charles writes about DIVX and QuickTime Plugin conflict in Safari:
One thing I've discovered that might help anyone having a Quicktime Plug-in issue. If you have DivX as a codec on your system (usually installed to play .avi files) you'll want to uninstall it so that Sarfari 5.1 will default to the Quicktime Plug-In and not the DivX plug-in. Otherwise, you can't see Quicktime movies in Safari.
Note: this post is about and at the time of OSX Lions launch, i.e. 10.7.0.
Now we have 10.7.2, still cannot believe Apple has not fixed this bug !!!

  • OSX Lion re-download

OSX Lion will be available only in the mac App Store and it can be redownloaded to multiple macs.
I know that this is possible with songs but if for example, I bought lion and want to share it with another person. Can I just log in to mac app store in their mac and re-download OSX Lion from there? and once Lion is fully downloaded in their mac, can I log out from the mac app store without losing the download?
This is just out of curiosity, I know that some people are trying to get their friends to sync their songs in their ipod, but will this work with apps in mac?

Did both of you read the part "this is just out of curiosity," I am totally against this also. It is only a reference for anyone who tries to google this question.
The price of $29.99 is a deal, given that for it's price you can buy 4 windows 7 home premium softwares. I hope by it's launch apple will patch up some bugs to prevent people to share macapps, because it is unfair for us who pay for the apps.

  • Cannot upgrade to OSx Lion no Recovery

I purchased and tried to install the OSx Lion upgrade. My mac is running Mac OSx 10.6.8 and I have bootcamp with Windows 7
It seems that there is some sort of problem in upgrading the OS when bootcamp is installed, but I am not sure of which would be the solution. The error says :
Mac OS X can't be installed on the disk Macintosh HD, because a recovery system can't be created. Visit www.apple.com/support/no-recovery to learn more.
From an internet search I think that a possible solution would be to have an external hard drive and install OSx lion on it. However, the hard drive must be formatted and have at least 13 G free, so that I will have to purchase a new hard drive only for this task :-( . Before doing so, I'd ask to the community if anyone had experience with this issue and what is the solution. Any help will be greatly appreciate ^_^ Thanks!!!
As a side note I'd like to express my deep disappointment in my Mac, fueled by the frustration of being unable to do a simple task, such as upgrading the OS. This is really the last drop. I can honestly say that buying my macbook pro was a very big mistake :-(
Since I bought it, almost one year ago, I had only problems. The OS is slow and crashes very often. I lost countless hour of work due to crashes, and disk failures. Most of the software is either not compatible, or full of bugs, while I had to pay lots of money for any kind of upgrade/assistance. The upgrade to Osx lion is my latest desperate attempt to stabilize the OS. I can't honestly say that there is a single task which this mac can accomplish, beside browsing e-mails.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I will be happy to give more infos about my problem
For the triple boot: I am installing rEFIt. I dod not think that the problems with OSx Lion are related to this, as I took the decision to install Linux after failing to update the OSx
I would be glad if we can bring the topic back to ways to upgrade to OSx Lion while having bootcamp. Did anyone ever succeded in doing so? ^_^
    About the unstable OS:
I have about 3-4 fatal crashes per week. Sometimes the mac is unresponsive and I have to restart it manually, sometimes the screen goes black and the computer restarts itself.
From what I have noticed I'd say this happens either while I am using some application, or just by using an external hard driver.
About the application: I'd say I can divide the crashes based on percentage of occurrance as follows:
60% with Microsoft Power Point (I can't say if it's because of the program or just because I use it at least 70% of the time) 30% Programming( C++, Fortran or Matlab) 10% Latex (using TeX Shop). The crash is immediate and I am not saving or doing anything in particular. Just typing text.
About the external hard drivers: I had some serious crashes due just by plugging in removable hard drivers, or reading/writing on them. This accounts for about 50% of overall crashes. It is not the same hard drive: I had crashes with multiple sources and I think it's some serious issue with the OS. I take extra care in safely removing and ejecting before unplugging from any source. Probably an important comment: most of the flash drivers I have used are also used with Linux systems. I never had a problem in Linux or Windows.
    Thanks!!!!!

  • DW CS5.5 in OSX Lion - anyone seeing problems with Spaces?

DW seems to have problems with Spaces in OSX Lion.Switching into DW from other spaces is not 'clean'. When DW comes up, sometimes the Code/Design is blank white, and windows within the workspace don't show their headers. Clicking on Code/Design redraws that window, but the only thing that seems to recover the window headings is switching to and then back from another app in the same Space.
Seems like screen redrawing triggered by switching apps within the same Space is a little different than that triggered by switching apps across Spaces.
    Anyone else seeing this?

I did report it as a bug, using the link kindly provided by you and Shocker.
The two Macs I've tried this on now are a Mac Pro and an iMac, so there's no Automatic Graphics Switching option to enable/disable.
I was only able to check this out on the iMac late last night.
    Hardware synopsis:
    Mac Pro Early 2009
    Processor  2 x 2.93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A511)
The iMac isn't available to me at the moment, I'll have to fill in missing details later (can't remember the exact graphics card info):
DW is CS5, not CS5.5, was also installed well ahead of the Lion upgrade
Computer is iMac instead of Mac Pro, about 1.5 years old
    Quad-Core i7
    4GB memory
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7
I used the same procedure upgrading to Lion on the iMac...
Ran Cocktail 'Pilot' to clean up the system prior to install (runs Daily, Weekly, Monthly maintenance scripts, clears System, User, and Internet caches, repairs disk permissions on "Macintosh HD", clears log files)
OS10.7 was purchased through the Mac App Store and installed.
    JRE installed.
DW on the iMac exhibited the same problem as on the Mac Pro.
    To reproduce:
Start DW, open a file for editing
Start any other app in the same Space
Open a new Space, open any other app there.
Test switching between DW and other apps in the same Space compared with switching between DW and other apps in different Spaces.
Consistently, when I switch between DW and other apps in the same Space, DW's windows/panels redraw properly,
and when I switch between DW and other apps in different Spaces, DW's windows/panels don't redraw properly.

  • OSX Lion freeze?

My IMac 3.06, 8 GB, 1 TB freezes about 3-4 times per day since installing OSX 7 (Lion).  I reinstalled Lion and the problem has not disappeared.  My MacBook Air, which was also unstable after the upgrade, now works fine with the OSX 7.1 update.
    Any suggestions?

Upon some researching over the internet I found that the most likely culprit is Flash Player as I was watching a Youtube video with it and there are similar crash reports to mine in parts of the web...
    Look here...

    and here...
    http://www.tuaw.com/2011/07/24/lion-bug-some-imacs-locking-up-after-playing-vide o/
It seems that adobe has some work to do on Flash. I should note that Flash Player 10.3 (even though it still has some quirks and kinks in OSX Lion) is better in terms of hardware resources than the earlier Flash Player 10.1 that came preinstalled with my Mac (with Snow Leopard).
    Thanks for yor assitance...

  • Problems copying between Flash CS5.5 and TextEdit in OSX Lion

This is a wierd one but it's cost me a ton of time...
When running Flash CS5.5 on OSX Lion (vs. 10.7.4) if I copy text from Flash and then paste it into a TextEdit Document it ALWAYS results in slowing down Flash to the point where it is basically unusable. The ONLY solution is to restart the whole system. (I use TextEdit to document my work, so I go back and forth between the two constantly).
Specifically, the copied text must be from a Instance Name field or a Movie Clip name field. (I've copied text out of a classic text field without problem).
When I go to paste the text into a TextEdit document there is a abnormal lag of a few seconds, but the text does get pasted, and TextEdit continues to function normally.
However, when I then return to Flash, it is noticable slower. Every click takes several seconds to register. For example, when opening a movie clip in the library, after double clicking the MC after a few seconds the MC will be highlighted, after several more seconds the timeline will display for that MC, afer several more seconds the stage will finally display the cotents of the MC. The larger the file, the longer the delays.
Restarting Flash makes no difference. Trashing Prefs makes no difference. However restarting the entire system does fix the problem.
I also reinstalled Flash, which also fixed the problem, but I was able to cause the problem to occur again.
I may pass this along to Apple also.
    Thanks for any insights!

Thanks! (Didn't understand what you meant before).
Activity Monitor showed that pasting the text in TextEdit caused fontd to jump up to near 100% whenever I tried to interact with Flash. fontworker and helpd also hit near 100% for a few moments, but it was mostly fontd. Killing fontd in Activity Monitor seemed to return everything to normal (but I'm not sure what else is affected by doing that).  I am also, then, unable to make the bug occur again.
So it appears to be the os. Strange that this only seems to affect Flash, though.
    Thanks again (Learned something!)
