Bug?  Rated photos won't laod on 5G iPod

Does anyone else have this issue. I posted earlier about problems getting all my photos on my ipod and only unrated photos got loaded. So I got home and put no rating on all those same photos and they loaded. Can anyone else confirm this?

Rating Photos??? Is this an Apple computer feature only?? I have seen nothing in my Windows version about rating photos.

  • Photos won't drop on Drop zones

Photos won't drop on drop zones anymore. I can see the photos in the media browser, but they won't drop where I send them. I had to re-organize my iphoto library a bit, but all the photos are seen and work fine in iphoto, just won't drop into drop zones in idvd 6. A very few photos will work. Is there some re-initializing the library I need to do or something?

  • Ipad photos won't go away, help!

There's an album on my ipad in the photo library that just won't go away! I can't delete the album or any pictures in it. The album or photos won't show on iTunes, iPhoto, or Image Capture. I think it was imported from my laptop a long time ago with iTunes. I'm trying to move the album to my macbook air, but would settle for just deleting it from my ipad, it's taking so much space.
    Appreciate the help!

Remove them the very same way you put them there.  Connect your iPad to your computer and open iTunes.  When your iPad is recognized on the left side of the iTunes screen, click it once to open it.  Click on Photos in the bar above on the right side of the iTunes screen.  Uncheck the photos you want to delete, then click Apply on the lower right hand corner of iTunes.

  • IPhone 5 two bugs in photo app.

Sorry, don't know where to submit bug reports... hope this place is okay.
Bug #1 - photos are not properly fit to screen.  To see this, take a screenshot of the home screen, or, say, of your favorite video game on the iPhone 5.  Now, look at that photo in the photo app, and double-tap it as needed to "fit" that photo to the screen.  You'll notice black space at the bottom of the photo, and the top part of the photo is off-screen.  So, if you took a screenshot of the home screen, the "menu bar" (or whatever it's called) will be off-screen.
Bug #2 - the "cancel" button that comes up in the delete menu doesn't work.  Try to delete a photo, then hit the cancel button.  You'll see the button is only barely functional - only the top sliver of the cancel button seems to accept input.

#1 was in reference to screenshots, not camera photos.  Screenshots should obviously be the same aspect ratio as the screen.  In any event, fitting a photo to screen (even if it has a different aspect ratio) should not cause part of the photo to go off-screen.  I'm not talking about "letterboxing" here... the black space in question is ONLY on the bottom of the photo, not the top - the top part instead goes off-screen.  That is definitely a bug, and I have verfied that I don't get that bug in on my old iPhone4 (updated to iOS6.)  I don't have a 4S so I can't test it on that.
I have also verfied that bug #2 does not happen on my iPhone4.

  • Photos won't display

I recently bought a refurbished 80g iPod classic. Everything appeared to be in working order except that photos won't display when clicked on. When I click on a photo the screen just goes black like the photo won't load. I don't really want to return it and go through all the warranty ordeals so if anyone knows how to fix this problem please let me know.

To create and populate a new library:
*Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.*
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • IPod Photo won't display album artwork for purchased songs

I bought some songs on the ITunes Music Store, and I can see the album artwork on the ITunes, I can also see in my IPod the artwork for most of the songs that I've downloaded, but I CAN'T see the artwork for those recently purchased.
I also noticed that when I purchased songs I had a duplicated file for each one of them, stored in \iTunes\iTunes Music\ and \My Downloads\ respectively, so I deleted the copies from \My Downloads\
Bottom line is, I can see all the album artwork in my iTunes, but my iPod Photo won't display some of it (specifically, the songs that I purchased)

Probably, the easiest way to resolve this is to copy the artwork from one song on an album and paste it into every song on that album.
In your iTunes Library, choose an album that has artwork issues; choose one track that has the artwork and copy it. Then:
the slightly longer method is to check each song individually, until you find the one with the missing artwork. Paste (the copy previously made) from one of the other tracks on the album.
a slightly quicker method is to highlight all the songs on that album (make sure it is just that one album) and paste the artwork into the box.
Sync the iPod with your iTunes Library.

  • My photos won't "load" - it has worked fine for at least two years, but suddenly now when I plug in the chip, iPhoto opens up as usual, but the window just says "loading photos",  and the little wheel keeps on spinning - can anyone help me?? I am new here

my photos won't "load" - it has worked fine for at least two years, but suddenly now when I plug in the chip, iPhoto opens up as usual, but the window just says "loading photos",  and the little wheel keeps on spinning - can anyone help me?? I am new here. I need to get it working again because we're about to go on a trip!

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards

  • Photos won't appear.

Before I explain what's going on let me explain what I did cause everyone I've asked so far always wants me to explain what I did first.
My computer needed to be wiped clean. The only thing I cared about on it were the 3953 photos on there. I figured my IPod is large enough to hold them so why not put them on my iPod and then clean this PC out. So everything went smooth I can view the photos on my iPod and such.
Computers cleaned and has a fresh OS in it. I go to put the photos back on the computer so I can remove them from my iPod, but only 386 photos show up on the computer the others are not there. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING ITunes wont even pull theses up. and before I start emailing them 1 by 1 to myself I figured I would ask here.
To be direct "iPod won't show SOME of my photos, 386 out of 3953 are only appearing to be transferred to computer. I've tried moving them to different folders, searching for them on iTunes, playing with the settings, and even downloaded some crappy program that found them but wanted me to pay 59.99 to move them on my computer" I could literally see them on the program, which has brought me to believe it is some restriction apple has that's not letting me access them. I had read somewhere, which this could be wrong, that I can only see the photos on the computer I uploaded them with. I hope this isn't true, and I know I'm about to sound like a 12 year old here but, is really stupid its a portable device I should be able to use it like one.
Sorry if my attitude is coming off as a jerk but I'm really not trying to be, I just want people to understand the issue. I've been asking on allot of forums and people send me links to topics that are similar but not what I'm having issues with like, "MY IPOD ISN'T SHOWING UP ON MY COMPUTER/ITUNES". This is NOT my issue, my iPod is showing up fine. So please actually read my post before you start posting links to other topics that are not helpful to me in any way.
                                                                                                                                                                                                         Thanks a bunch!

To get photos that were synced to the iPod on to another computer you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView. Those are paid programs.
The iPod sees the rebuilt computer as a new compter.
    That is the only way.

Pearson put out a tech note on this today - the new versions of Java are what's causing the problem. If you can use Time Machine to rollback java prior to a java 7 or 1.6.0_37 version that will get you going again. I've been searching for hours for a place to download the older version but it seems Apple's site and Oracle all only have the latest release. Still trying to see if I have a copy downloaded on a system that hasn;t been updated to copy off to a network drive or usb and install the older version on to systems.

PowerTeacher Gradebook and recent Mac OS X Java update
An update to Java for Mac OS X was released on October 16, 2012. An issue has been identified with this Java update (Java for OS X 2012-006) which prevents teachers from launching PowerTeacher Gradebook.
Teachers using PowerTeacher Gradebook should avoid taking this Java update to version 1.6.0_37 until notified that PowerTeacher Gradebook has been certified with this latest version of Java 1.6 for Mac OS X. PowerTeacher Gradebook will continue to work on Mac OS X workstations with Java version 1.6.0_35.
Additional communication will be provided once a workaround is identified or an updated version of PowerTeacher Gradebook is available.

  • The new i photo won't let me manually sort my own photos. . . a must have for my business!  can i revert to the prior i photo, or???

the new i photo won't let me manually sort my own photos. . . a must have in my line of work!  can i revert to the old i photo, and if so how?  if not, what are my options?

I have no idea what you are doing - folders in iPhoto do not hold photos - they only hold other folders or albums - and albums can be sorted manually - and again have no idea what you mean by you hade to "minimize the size" - adding photos to albums has nothing to do with their size
iPhoto is really easy - but does have a learning curve - under the help menu there is an iPhoto help section that contains several very good videos to helo you get started with learning iPhoto - the owuld be well worth the time to watch

  • After installing new HDD, some iPhoto Events/Photos won't display

Problem: I upgraded to 1TB HDD a couple of days ago and tried to use the System Restore from Backup under Disk Utility. It never worked, got to a blue screen and just hung. So I reloaded Snow Leopard and then used Setup Assistant to move Apps/Files/Settings from my Time Machine Backup.
Today I was going through files to see if anything was missing and found a number of Events from 2010 that wouldn't display in iPhoto '08, just dark squares but with the event name underneath.
Rolling the mouse over the empty square displayed the correct number of photos for the event but photos wouldn't display.
Next I "Browsed" the Time Machine Backup (from iPhoto) and the same Events were also empty on Time Machine Backups.
The funny thing is the empty events are scattered meaning I have a full Events from Feb and March 2010 but empty events from Jan, Feb and May 2010. And then when I go into the Empty Events on Time Machine, I can call up the photo number but the photo won't display.
Is there a way to recover these photos? I'm pretty sure there on the TM backup and also on my new HDD.
As a "suspenders/belt" type person, I have the photos backed up on a Windows PC but rather work through this problem first.

You can enter TM while in iPhoto and do a search for some of the missing photos by file name. When you find a version that appears to have them in exit TM, go to your Pictures folder, reenter TM, go to that version and restore the entire library. I'd keep both your current library and the restored. Then you can check to see if the missing photos are in the restored library.
If neither library have all of the photos but do combined you can use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to merge the two libraries into a new 3rd library setting the option to not import duplicates. That should get you a complete library.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • I-photo won't launch, i-photo won't launch

    i-photo won't launch

If you hold down the option key on your keyboard while launching iPhoto, does it bring up a dialog allowing you to "Create new..." library? If so, cancel and try rebuilding the iPhoto library.
    Best of luck.

  • Photo won't get started

photo won't get started after installing the new update (wheel spinning under the get started button)

    Steven:
Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that is in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Also download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
How many iPhoto Library folders do you have in the Pictures folder? if more than one find out which contains your photos and move the other(s) to the Desktop.
Now launch iPhoto with the Option depressed and, when asked, opt to locate an existing library. Navigate to the iPhoto Library folder remaining in the Pictures folder and select it. It should open.
