Bug report: Catalog in shared folders.
We use LR with multiple users (two) on OSX SnowLeopard. TTHIS IS NOT SIMULTANEOUS USERS, but two discrete logins on a single machine.
We keep the catalog on the Shared Folder, with all files having red/write access by the two users. (see info panel image).
We did the conversion to LR3 and the catalog worked fine for G. R used the catalog the following day and we had to reapply shared settings to allow both to have read/write. LR3 worked fine thereafter for R.
G logged in the next day and LR3 opens, displays the filename for the correct viewable image, (See screen shot), but no images are in the filmstrip or in the main view.
I emphasize that this has worked in LR2 for many months, it is only a problem since upgrading to LR3.
Cheers
Attempts to change modules
Just to close this out.
I finally got LR3 to access the same file from both user accounts yesterday (after much fiddling!).
It SEEMS to have been a permissions problem, but where was not clear. I have original RAW files on a separate drive which didn't have shared permissions (this has never been a problem before) but I was following a strategy of gradually changing ANY file that could be touched by LR3 to shared permissions.
After I changed the 2010 folder (but not the whole drive, and not the OTHER folders, e.g. 2009 on the same drive), LR3 loaded the converted catalog.
I wish I could be certain that this was the change that did it, but it seems illogical that it could / should make a difference.
However, I'm happy and LR3 is working for both user accounts.
Cheers, and thanks for all the help!

Moving 11g BI Publisher Reports to Shared Folders in same instance.
Hi ,
I have to move BI Publishers reports from MY Folders to the Shared Folders in the same BI Publisher instance.
I just wanted to know do we have to move Data Model associated with the Report as well?
As of now i have just moved the BIP Reports and they are working fine, but was unsure on this Data Model part.
Can someone throw light on whats the good practise related to moving Reports in BI Publisher.
Thanks
AshishAshish Gupta wrote:
Should i move the data model in the Reports Folder only, under Shared Folders?
just wanted to know the best practise as to how data model and reports are stored under Shared folders as in separate folders or everything in the same folder.Yes the best practice is to create a folder called BIP Reports(shared folder) -> under which you can create 2 folders as Data Model and Data Template
>
Also how do i make sure that these Reports under Shared Folders are pointing to the Data Model in the Shared Folders and not to the Data Model of My Folders?
Thanks
AshishTo make sure the data template/report is pointed to data model in shared folder go to the corresponding report and from right pane under the report you see options as open schedule jobs job history edit more
select edit -> opens a new window -> from top you see a magnifier icon click on that opens a new window now select the datamodel from shared folder for the corresponding report thats it.
hope it helps
Thanks,

Urgent-Renamed Folder in Shared Folders and now Error for all Users?
Hello,
Well I was asked to shorten a name in Shared Folders and so I changed it. Now I get an error if I click on Dashboards or Shared Folders (which is empty now btw ???) or Manage Catalog, its displaying:
Target Path Not Found (/Shared/Customer Operations) Error Code: GZ8VXQ96.
Are we not supposed to create a folder in Shared Folders and then Change the Name?
Please Help. The BI Server Administrator is telling me that everyone else's reports are not available now.
NeallyKishore, Thank you for your response! I have forwarded it off.
Thing is, there was nothing inside the folder yet...I hadn't moved any reports over so there was nothing referencing it yet.
How can a name of a folder that is for our dept. affect HR, Finance..when they login? Their dashboard preferences were not set to mine. Confused. And to add to this, when I click on Manage Catalog is when I receive the error. So I imagine this is something admin will have to do in Oracle on bi server?

My Macbook Air with Lion does not show up on my network to any of my other computers (PC's) , even though it is connected to my wifi and does access the Internet. In addition, my other computers sometimes show up in Finder and sometimes they're not there. Sometimes they do show in Finder and when I click on them, I get "Connection Failed", other times, they connect. Also some shared folders on those other computers, which are PC's are not accessible, even though fully shared. My network is Apple Airport Extreme and works perfectly otherwise, including all PC's being able to see each other. Help would be much appreciated
I got the same problem. I want to access my shared folder on my home windows7 from my MBA. Tried many suggestions on the web but all to no avail. I thought that should be very trivial. Maybe a Lion bug?

Can you please share which platform and which device you are on?
Also are you referring about a one-way video call here where only you are sending video, but the other party doesn't send their video back?

Restricting changes to reports in "READ-ONLY" folders
Hi,
We are using Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition v10.1.3.4. We have created our own custom folder under the "Shared Folders" item in OBIEE Answers module; and have added some reports to it. The custom folder has been given "READ" access for all the users of the application.
With this setup in place we see that the users can modify the criteria of the reports in the custom shared folder but they cannot save any changes to the report. Is there any way we can limit the users from not being able to change even the criteria for the "read-only" reports?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,
PiyushI agree. If the users don't need to have any access to Answers, then that privilege should be removed. Not knowing your business rules and the privileges granted to users, I would suggest just allowing the users to just view the reports on the dashboard.
If you have other questions, I would suggest checking out the following website: http://www.biconsultinggroup.com and click on the Education tab. The BICG University courses that BICG offers are quite extensive.
Good Luck. -
Bug report for erroneous Vimeo password error
If your Vimeo password contains a left parenthesis '(', when you attempt to share to Vimeo from Final Cut Pro X, it will tell you that your Vimeo password is invalid. If you change your password to remove the parenthesis, sharing will then be successful. I repro'd this issue with two different passwords containing parentheses.
FYI, Apple doesn't read these forums for bug reports. You need to use the "Send Feedback" option in the Final Cut Pro X menu to make sure they see this.

So slow listing network shared folders and drives.
Hi!!
I'm reporting a very slow connection between my MacBook Pro 13" (snow leopard) and my MacPro 8 core (leopard). When I try to reach the macpro in finder (shared) passed 1 or 2 minutes until the system ask me user/pass, then show me the list of my shared folders and drives. Navigating through them is ok, ut when I return to the main list, SnowLeopard again waits 1 minutes or 2 to show. Before, the main list always remain there.
Any help??Same sort of problem here. Screen Sharing also doesn't work.
Pretty sure it's DNS, as if I temporarily remove my router from the equation (by, say, using a manual IP address instead of DHCP on the machines and leaving DNS blank) everything works and is instant - except of course for the internet. Put it back to DHCP (which uses the router for DNS) and it's slow again (and screen sharing doesn't work at all).
However, OpenDNS hasn't helped (probably because it's a private address range?)
The network is 192.168.0.0/24 with gateway and DNS server 192.168.0.1, which is a Draytek Vigor 2600G ADSL router.
This has only happened recently, I guess Snow Leopard or one of its updates has forced reverse DNS lookups for everything.
As I understand it, AFP is supposed to use Bonjour for hostnames ending in .local and bypass DNS altogether, but despite checking that they end in .local (an automatic thing) in System Preferences it doesn't seem to do this any more.
Any way to turn off these reverse DNS lookups? -
Enable Shadow Copies for Shared Folders in a Failover Cluster (2012 R2)
I cannot find a reference on how to Enable Shadow Copies for Shared Folders in a Failover Cluster
using separate disks for Data and Shadow Copies, using Windows Server 2012 R2. I found an article for Server 2003, but that doesn't solve my issue.
Enable Shadow Copies for Shared Folders in a cluster. Can someone point me to documentation on how to setup properly?
I have a 3 server failover cluster, a single fileserver role with a 2 TB data storage drive and a 200 GB disk for shadow copy drive. The 2 TB is ReFS and being used by Home Directories. The 200 GB is also ReFS, but I didn't have a letter
assigned, but it is associated with the fileserver role.
Any help is appreciated.
Find this post helpful? Does this post answer your question? Be sure to mark it appropriately to help others find answers to their searches. As mentioned above I spotted Shadow Copy configuration problems in clustered environment on Windows 2012 R2 with latest updates.
Enabling Shadow Copy via Cluster Manager on disk will enable schedule and snapshots but schedule is not-cluster aware (is created locally on node) and "Previous Versions" are visible only locally but not via shared folders (UNC path accesible by
clients)
When I spotted this behavior I tried different way going via Computer Management and cluster resource name but console always hangs for me when using "Configure Shadow Copies". After many minutes configuration window is opened (Hurray!) but any
action there will hang whole console again. Enabling Shadow Copies will fail with "0x80004005: Unspecified
error" for creating scheduled task but "Next Run Time" column still shows "Disabled". Checking disk resource via Cluster Manager shows it is enabled and ?local? scheduled task is created.
Computer management console still shows DISABLED and any action freezes whole console (only when cluster resource name is used).
This fix I found, unfortunately, is not applicable to 2012 R2 OS: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2894464
To sum up there is a major bug in MS implementation in Shadow Copies for Shared Folders when clustering is used or it is still not supported in 2012 R2? Doing it outside cluster works as it should (without freezes and Previous Versions are available via
UNC)
There is no documentation about FileServer Clustering on 2012(R2) unfortunately.
Could someone from MS clarify it?
Many thanks
Filip
EDIT:
Ok, one correction:
Scheduled task is not created in "Failover Clustering" hive of Scheduled tasks as user may expect but failover of fileshare to other node will unregister/reregister it on active node only. -
Cannot see Shared Folders from xmlpserver - OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5)
Hi All,
I have got a an issue with the permissions i.e. I can log in to http://hostname:7001/analytics and open a report that is stored in "Shared Folders" but if I log in to http//hostname:7001/xmlpserver with same user I cannot see Shared Folders.
How to fix this issue? Thanks in advance. Thanks for your quick response Kishore.
The user is the Admin user. This user is part of XMLP_ADMIN group as well.
I can create a file from http://hostname:7001/xmlpserver in the shared folders but cannot see. I can see the same file from http://hostname:7001/analytics. any idea? -
BUG REPORT: new 10g Driver throws SQLExcpetion
So far, i just replaced my old ORACLE JDBC driver jar file with a new version. Of course, i use the classes12.jar to be used by JDK 1.3. This worked for all the 9.xxx Drivers. Now, i tried to use the classes12.jar from the new "10g" Driver (10.1.0.2.0) but it doesn't work anymore. The first simple SELECT statement throws this error:

For the simple select statement:
select REF_CLASS, REF_CODE, REF_TEXT_DE from refset order by REF_CLASS,REF_CODE
so, nothing special. Going back to the last 9.x driver, it works again. Is the 10g driver knwon to be buggy?

How to hide shared folders to some users...
Hi,
Is there a way to hide the shared folders from users and only give them access to the dashboards to run the reports? We are using OBIEE 10Gif you remove read permission to the shared folder, you wont be able to see the dashboards associated with that folder. you can try using traverse folder option.
if you want that the user should only be able to see the dashboards then you can restrict access to answers and assign read permissions to the dashboards so that they cant modify dashboards.
to restrict the access to answers - goto administration>manage privileges>Access to Delivers
to assign read only permissions to dashboards goto administration>manage interactive dashboards and change permissions accordingly.
assign points if found helpful. -
Convergence, still no public shared folders!?!
Is Convergence supposed to support public folders or not. I have set public folder up and they work brilliantly in Thunderbird. But not having them in Convergence is disappointing. Assuming convergence uses IMAP behind the scenes there's no reason it shouldn't work along side private shared folder.
Quote from Convergence Product Features from way back: [http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite6RR072208/Sun+Convergence+Product+Features]
Q. Does Convergence support public folders?
A. Yes, public folder support is the same in Convergence as it is for
IMAP, Messenger Express, or Communications Express. You need to
configure a special user as the owner for such folders. Users then need
to subscribe to such folders to view them.
For more information on public folders, see [To Create a Public Shared Folder|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4428/fxbuv?a=view].
It doesn't work in Comms Express, and it doesn't work in Convergence. How the heck does a major feature get into a product feature document like this when it's clear there is no intention for the feature. Pointing me to a guide to enable a feature which does not exist. Who writes this documentation.ethoms wrote:

I have set public folder up and they work brilliantly in Thunderbird. But not having them in Convergence is disappointing. Assuming convergence uses IMAP behind the scenes there's no reason it shouldn't work along side private shared folder.A quick test shows there is a problem at the Messaging Server level related to public shared folders. This is preventing public shared folders from showing in the "Subscribe to Folder" interface and being displayed when they have been subscribed to using another IMAP client (e.g. Mozilla Thunderbird):
bug #6907767 - "listfolders.mjs doesn't return Public shared folders"
bug #6907765 - "list.mjs doesn't return Public shared folders"
It doesn't work in Comms Express, and it doesn't work in Convergence. There are known bugs preventing it from working with Communications Express as we have discussed previously. Why have you not raised these bugs with Sun support to have them fixed?
How the heck does a major feature get into a product feature document like this when it's clear there is no intention for the feature. It seems clear to me that other customers do not consider public folders as a "major" feature otherwise this issue would have been raised before now.

Shane. -
I am looking for a good way to list accounts in our GroupWise system that has shared folders under it. We have allot of accounts that are no longer around and want to remove them, but first want to make sure there aren't shared folders tied to them. Once I can list out the accounts that have shared folders, we can decide if they still used or not and go from there. Looking for suggestions on best way to attack this issue.

This can be done with the GroupWise object API and VBScript. This code when run using cscript.exe will list the shared and with which they are shared for the currently logged in GroupWise account. I have not tested this using GroupWise 2012 but it works well with GroupWise 8.x.
listFolders.vbs
option explicit
dim GWApplication
dim GWAccount
set GWApplication = CreateObject("NovellGroupwareSession")
set GWAccount = GWApplication.Login()
WalkFolders GWAccount.RootFolder, ""
set GWAccount = Nothing
sub WalkFolders (Folder, PathName)
dim i
if Folder.Folders.Count > 0 then
for i = 1 to Folder.Folders.Count
wscript.echo PathName & "/" & Folder.Folders.Item(i).name
walkFolders Folder.Folders.Item(i), PathName & "/" & Folder.Folders.Item(i).namenextend if
end sub
The output is comma separated value and can be redirected into a file which can be imported into a spreadsheet or database for analysis and reporting.
Iterating through multiple users is done using a trusted application key and the multilogin method. If there is interest I can post sample code.
