Bug report - Folder remaming won't stick

Question

Windows version.
I store my originals on a network drive, mapped to drive Y:
The library is on my local hard drive.
When importing files, the 'Folders' sections shows something like:
originals at Y:\clientname\Nut 05\Indexed\1st_choices\Act1 - 12-9-05
So I rename the folder to be:
clientname - Nutcracker 2005 - Act1 - 12-9-05
and it informed me that it would just be renaming the Lightroom folders, not the 'real' folders on the hard drive.
and everything is fine.
I did that for 6 folders.
This morning I start up Lightroom and the folders inlightroom are back to looking like:
originals at Y:\clientname\Nut 05\Indexed\1st_choices\Act1 - 12-9-05
like I never renamed them in the Lightroom database.

Might the fact that you are using "network drives" be the critical factor here?
I'm also confused when you say, after renaming a folder, LR tells you it does not rename the "real" folder. For me, when I change a folder name, that changes the real folder's name as well as what LR displays in its folders view. After renaming, have you looked at the real folder using explorer or other file manager independently of LR to see whether the name is unchanged? If so, it could be that when LR is reinvoked, it checks the real name and syncs it with the name in the folders view, thus things go back to the way they were.
What Windows version is the local computer? Is the "network drive" on a server, a NAS drive, on another client computer? And what OS, if any, is the other computer? If a NAS drive, is it formatted as FAT32?
(Maybe I'm remembering some posts in the Aperture forum, but does LR reliably handle network drives?)
