BUG REPORT - N95 v20 firmware Podcast app forgets ...

In the Podcasting app, when I set the Save To setting to my memory card, eventually it switches back to Phone Memory all by itself. This usually happens after a day or so. Very frustrating since phone memory is so limited.

I figured this one out. If you have the Podcast app set to update automatically at regular intervals AND you happen to be using the memory card at the time it tries to update, the app will switch the setting to Phone Memory and leave it there. This will also happen if the Podcast app is just running and you connect the USB cable for data transfer.
Kinda dumb. There should be an option that says, "Use Phone memory, if other storage unavailable" or something like that. It should not just assume you want to change the setting. Nokia Fix please!

  • Bug Report: use of Stock Music app causes Droid X to stop recognizing MP3 files

    Here's an interesting one:
At some point within the last week or so, not sure how exactly when, I noticed my phone suddenly stopped playing any MP3 files. Ringtones. Music. All stopped working. When I'd try to play an MP3 file by opening it in either Ringdroid or Astro, my Droid X displayed an error that the audio file type was not supported. Rebooting the phone fixed the issue. The unit was able once again to play audio, but would stop again a short time later. What could be causing this?
My wife and I have identical Droid Xs. I use the Music app and she does not. She has not yet lost any audio capabilities on her device. Based on this, I downloaded the DoubleTwist player and have been using it regularly for 3 days.
My DroidX played all audio files without a problem. It retained all ringtones and notifications and played any MP3 file on demand.
I switched back to using the Music player to play 1 file. Within an hour, my phone had once again failed to recognize MP3 files and had to be rebooted.
Is there a workaround for this?
And will the MotoRizon engineers be fixing this in the rumored forthcoming patch?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Hello sledball. I have read your post and understand your issue with the MP3 files on your device. You will want to perform a hard reset on your device and backup everything on your SD Card and if needed reformat your SD Card.
From the home screen, touch the applications tab(located at the bottom of the display).
    Touch Settings.
    Touch Privacy.
    Touch Factory Data Reset.
    Touch Reset Phone.
If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern
    Touch Erase Everything.
Ive done the hard reset after upgrading to 2.2... and this doesn't help.. My Droid X will still not recognize my mp3's and will change my ringtone to default from time to time...

    3. Put to SD card to Music folder few files. Run the music player & update library - we have add new tracks to library. Exit from music player, remove music files that has been add to SD and run the music player again. • N97 v20 Firmware the good and bad

Ok, so I've been laying with the new firmware for a day now and to all of those that haven't yet, and are experiencing issues, PLEASE, back your phone up and do a hard reset.
Then restore only essential things like contacts, pictures, videos etc. Not settings, these you can redo.
A hard reset will NOT delete any data stored on the mass memory.
I reckon it is essential to do the hard reset, this is a big firmware release, why not do nice a format and start from scratch? It is well worth it.
    So the good:
Kinetic scrolling everywhere is bliss, I have 515 contacts and it scrolls beautifully. The only time I have some shudder is if my finger is a not perfectly dry. If it shudders, try scrolling with a fingernail, it seems to work for me.
Overall speed and responsiveness.  The phone is a joy to operate now. Going from the menu button to the main menu and into settings or apps is now almost instantaneous.
Typing a message with the qwerty keyboard closed is much easier now. Before, the touch screen used to miss keypresses and I'd have to go back and retype the word slower which drove me nuts and I had to use the qwerty keyboard everytime I wanted to type a message.
Holding a key to bring up it's corresponding number is a welcome addition. The number change key is right on the bottom right of the keyboard which is awkward when you are typing quickly or typing a password with combinations of numbers and letters
When you hide the widgets on the home screen using a sideways swipe, the clock now stays, so you can neaten up your desktop but still see the time. I didn't like this at first, but it seems pretty logical. Although I would perhaps have moved the time and date to a smaller font and pushed it up to the top near the signal or battery strength indicators.
Browsing photo's is very nice now. The gallery is quick to load and once you open a picture you can easily browse with a side swipe.
The Accuweather widget seems to behave itself now.
    The not so good:
There are some updates that seem to have been forgotten.
    Where is Ovi maps 3.1?
Where are the letters on the dialer screen?
We are still waiting for Skype [Though this wasn't listed in v20 firmware]
Facebook app is still the same. I saw a video where it was mentioned that the FB app was updated. It's still not possible to upload videos or see your notifications.
For those having Issues with Ovi store and scrolling, you need to update it.
So thats it. v20 firmware is the firmware that should have been shipped with the phone, I doubt then that there would be so many gripes with it.
Once again folks, PLEASE do a hard reset, most of your issue post update will probably be resolved this way, but do not restore your settings, just contacts, pictures, messages etc.

I've notice the Facebook App seems a lot slower. especially when loading up your friends list Now takes 30secs+. Any attempt to navigate elsewhere causes the app to freeze up

  • The podcast app (ver 2.2) immediately crashes for my iPhone 6 Plus.

I just bought my iPhone 6 plus last Saturday and my podcast app immediately crashes every time I attempt to open the app. This bug occurred with Apple's podcast app on my iPhone 5s. Eventually that problem went away by itself or the latest update. Since the podcast app is permanent in the system and cannot be deleted I don't have the option of installation.
I've already tried the solution using the airplane mode in order to trick the podcast app but that has never worked for me. Other than doing a full restore are there any solutions to this problem?

    Hello KR811,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your Podcast application is not opening the way you would expect. There are a couple of different troubleshooting steps that I would recommend in this situation.
First I would recommend forcing the Podcast application to close using the steps provided in the attached article.
Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support
After the Podcast application has been closed, I would recommend resetting your iPhone 6. The instructions for resetting an iOS device can be found in the following attached article.
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
After your iPhone boots back on after the reset, please open the Podcast application fresh and test it out. Please let me know if the issue continues.
    Cheers,
    Joe

what are the bugs in N95 8G new firmware V15?

The most important problem in new firmware is in gallery part. After installing new firmware I copy my images in image folder in 8gb hdd.after that every time I go to gallery after 2 or 3 seconds it automatically comes out and I cannot use gallery to view my images .Accroding to some reports I reinstall firmware again but problem still exist. What can I do.

  • Podcasting app bug

Using the podcasting function to update automatically at a certain time does work, however after having connected and updated the podcast app does not disconnect the 3g connection. Because of this the schedule option is pretty useless as if it is used, the battery will run out in no time.
Also just a suggestion - for the timed podcast updater, it would be a good idea for the podcast app to startup automatically at the alloted time to download the podcasts - at the moment if you dont have the podcasting app open at the time - the automatic update wont run. Another alternative would be to have an option in the podcaster app where you can make it startup when the N95 8gb turns on.
(As already mentioned I am using an N95 8GB).
Is this the best way of making suggestions/bug issues to Nokia usuing this site? I want to help out and point out bugs but not sure where to do so.

Restarting videos works and looks like video is getting deleted.

BUG REPORT FIRMWARE 5.1.7  PLEASE FORWARD TO SUPERVISOR.
The spa-3102 has the following two bugs.
When the unit sends a hook-flash to the fxo port it:
    a)      does not send the hook flash to the fxo port  for PSTN Hook Flash Len:  Instead it uses a very short pulse of about 100ms or 1/10 of a second.  It should honor the PSTN Hook Flash Len configurable parameter of .2 – 1.5 seconds.
    b)      Does not change the line voltage from –7 (off-hook) to –48(on-hook) during a flash-hook to the fxo port.  Instead it varies the voltage only by about 2.5 volts.
This was reported as early as June 07 to linksys support.  It is reported they agreed and would fix in the next firmware release.  There is info that firmware 5.2 being released and is this fix in 5.2 and how can I get it.

Although the problem is still not solved, at least I now know WHY the problem is happening... and Apple's Firmware Update is NOT to blame!
Through a series of coincidences, I was actually lucky enough to get in touch with the engineers in Apple's Airport firmware division, and they were helping me to nail down this problem.
Turns out that Apple takes great PRIDE in the fact that they are one of the VERY FEW manufacturers who make routers that behave properly in this regards: they SPECIFICALLY test for their Airport Extreme routers to allow you to connect to servers behind the NAT by way of the public WAN IP address of the NAT box. This is the way that apparently the NAT/DHCP specification is SUPPOSED TO WORK! You're SUPPOSED to be able to connect this way, if you so desire.
So what was causing the problem on my network, then?
Something I hadn't thought about... the Vonage Linksys RTP300 router that we're using for our Vonage VoIP service. Turns out that this router does NOT support clients behind the NAT connecting to servers behind the NAT by way of the public WAN IP address.
Linksys is to blame, not Apple!
And apparently, this feature may have actually been working in an earlier
firmware update, but apparently, Vonage AUTOMATICALLY pushes firmware
updates to RTP300's, apparently without user notification:
    <http://www.vonage.com/help.php?article=1066&category=90&nav=5>
And a forum thread on vonage-forums.com seems to indicate that the 1.00.60 firmware in the RTP300 started getting pushed to customer units on or before 1/26/06, making it less than a month after Apple shipped the 5.7 firmware update for AirPort Extreme Base Stations:
<http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic10915.html>. So if the problem cropped up then, it's possible that I accidentally attributed it to Apple when really the RTP300 got a firmware update around then too which may have broken this feature (assuming it was working before then).

  • Search 4.0 on v20 firmware n95

can anyone tell me why I can no longer see the images in the search list before I open each image file this has only happend since getting v20 firmware is it a firmware issue or problem with my phone? use to have v12 with 4.0 search and this was not an issue
Do not! hack your phone its very very bad

I installed it yesterday on my N95 (v11.0.026) and it screwed it up. I tried to install it and it said I needed to uninstall the previous version first, so I did and then re-tried it and it worked.
The Search application worked OK from what I tried of it, except finding files. I don't really use the web search functionality, just the in-device searching. I tried looking for a file I knew existed, the results listed that there were files found but when open up the file results it stated no files found?
The real problem is I can no longer open the web browser. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled v3.06 but that didn't fix it. I'm now in the process of transfering all my images etc. to my PC, then going to format memory card and re-install the firmware.
