[Bug] Sometimes Z10 stuck at BlackBerry logo

Hi,
I want to report a bug to BlackBerry. It happens quite rarely though. When I restart my z10, it stucks at BlackBerry logo. It either doesn't shutdown or fails to start but stuck at the logo.
It happens about 2 times from 7 times. Then I have to reinsert the battery to reset the things.
I am on the latest OS. Hope BlackBerry will fix this bug in some software update.

what OS are you on now?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
We cannot tell you what will work or not...all we can do is give you things to try, and when you do so you will discover if they work or not for your situation.
"Restore" is, technically, the restoration of your data to your device, and depends on you having previously taken a backup with which to now use as the source of restore. But, restore first depends on getting your device running properly. Given what you describe, my guess is that only an AutoLoader can possibly succeed at that. Refer:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...
After your device is again running correctly, then you can proceed with restoring your data to it.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Z10 Stuck on Blackberry logo

I am using blackberry z10 the OS is 10.2. My phone won't start blackberry charging logo pops up and the process goes up to100% with the logo and when it gets to 100% it simply stays there. the phone is not starting.
I tried many options like to remove the batery for 5 min and I also removed the memory card but the problem is as it is.
So plz let me know if there is any options to reset or start the phone.

All software needs hardware to run it. If something is wrong you will get unexpected results.
I'm hoping it has something to do with this:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB34666
If it does, the autoloader I linked you to should work.

  • Z10 frozen on blackberry logo

    Hi
I have had the z10 for just over a year now and out of nowhere it froze on the blackberry logo at the starting screen. (not the blue one, the very first black and white one)
I didn't even restart the phone. I just woke up there it was.
I tried pulling batteries, it didn't work. I can't even reload since the computer won't even recognize when the phone is linked.
The model i have is stl100-3.
    someone please help me T.T.....

Welcome to the forums, there are many reasons this could happen have you tried just a simple hard reboot, hold down the power button for 10 seconds or up/down volume keys for approximately 20?
It's very hard to brick the phone and there are many ways to reload the OS, how to reload your OS can be found here...

Hi, I am unable to boot Z10, stuck on loading screen at 99% after a few hours. I did not try to update, nor load any other OS versions.  Running a Bell Canada 10.1.  Tried to pull battery, leave phone boot for 5 hours, still stuck on 99%.  I tried plugging it in BB Link and computer will not recognize it.

  • Blackberry Z10 - Stuck on Checking for update

I recently bought a blackberry z10, and decided to update it before starting to use it which i regret now.
Since then i have not been able to access the phone as it always comes back to the screen "Checking for updates".
How long does this usually take as its been over 20 minutes and still on the same screen. I tried restarting the phone iseveral times s but i continue to get the same outcome when i turn the phone back on.
    any help would be appreciated.

I have powered off the devivce, removed the battery, left the device a part for hours. I put the device battery back in, power up the device, see the BlackBerry logo, then 'checking for updates' resumes and never stops. The phone is totally unusable. One thing I should mention is that the phone has no SIM inserted. Would this make a difference?
Leave it powered ON, as I stated above.

  • Blackberry is stuck on start screen with blackberry logo and 3/4 loading

    Hey,
My blackberry messengers were not going through so i restarted it, after turning it back on it wouldnt load.
Now its been 3 hours and its stuck on the same screen with the blackberry logo and it loads 3/4 and then stops there. I called rogers tech support, and they said i have to reinstall os but when i try to do that and open the blackberry desktop manager and i connect it to my phone, it says that its waiting for device to start.
It wont load it though .. I dont know what to do Please help

Turning the phone off with the red phone key then restarting it will do little to nothing to ever correct a problem.
Make sure your phone is turned off.  Turn it on again.  Once the status bar starts moving, remove your battery then replace it a few seconds later.
Let us know if that does the trick.

  • Macbook Pro (A1278) - Unable to startup - stucks at Apple logo with spinning wheel.

My friend gave me his macbook pro today having startup issue. It stucks on apple logo at startup with a spinning wheel.
I have tried to repair disk but does not work.
tried to reinstall OS but it says This Apple ID is not the one which you used to purchase this  OS version (something like that)
I upgraded from mac os x lion to mountain lion.
I do not have any installation media as well.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a backup.
    Step 8
A dead logic-board battery in a Mac Pro can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

    Hey computerworld,
It could be some device that is connected to the USB port of your laptop or the broken USB port itself. Try to disconnect any USB connected device like mouse and try to boot up. If it does not help, remove the battery from laptop and try again. Let me know what happened.

Unfortunately, we have no way to know what "everything" means for your situation...hence, we risk providing you with redundant advice. To avoid that, please list out your "everything" so that we can know.
Nevertheless, and with that redundancy risk, anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    n3nita21 wrote:
where can i call  for tech support?
Formal support for BlackBerry is (and has always been) a matter of contract, and is determined at the time you purchase your device and/or subscribe for services. Typically, formal front-line or first-level support is:
For service-related issues, provided by your mobile service provider
For device-related issues, provided by your original place of purchase
In some regions, the above are modified by the use of authorized service centers
If your specific contract stated anything different, then your contract governs your formal support channels
All of the formal front line support entities have access to a formal escalation channel, where issues can be escalated by them up to BlackBerry for enhanced support. But end users do not have access to that escalation without going first through their required front-line support entity (as per the above).
    Good luck!

  • BB z10 stuck on security wipe in progress even after battery pull

    Hello,
Last night my z10 rang but i couldnt answer the call. the screen was no more responding. I was surprised because 10 mins earlier i had answered a call and all worked well... fast forward... tried restarting a few times, tried battery pull a few times still no solution so i did a backup and started restore factory settings from the latest blackberry link. this was the begining of the end.. i watched my phone display "security wipe in progress" lost patience after about 3 hrs and did a battery pull.. putting the battery back it shows the blackberry logo then goes right back to "security wipe in progress"... its been like that for another hour+ and now im at wits end
    pls help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Pulling the battery during a WIPE is dangerous with any device. What is happening is things are being wiped from the BB to return it to (sort of) factory settings. Stopping that mid-way risks leaving things in a partially completed state, which can cause the device to be non-functional.
I've read about times when a WIPE can indeed take quite a long time, requiring considerable patience. Since you posted this yesterday, I am hoping that you allowed it to continue so that it could properly complete...please let us know.
    Thanks!
