BUG: Speed Change + Audio Transition = No Audio-Video Sync

BUG: Speed Change + Audio Transition = No Audio-Video Sync
If you change the speed of clips (125%) and make an audio transition between them (power), the audio runs out of sync. The longer the transition, the more out of sync.

  • Upgrade and plug ins migration ? speed changes and transitions to motion 3

I have the FCS2 upgrade on its way soon i hope..
will my natress plug ins and others migrate when i go from FCS1 to 2?
I am mid project - have done all my captures but havent got into the nitty gritty of the edit yet - you reckon its a bit risky to upgrade?
I am super keen to get the ability to easily do ramps (in Motion 3 or in FC 6) and 3d logo fly arounds. Looking fwd to being able to throw transitions and speed changes into Motion 3 - i hear that it can deal with that now - is this true?

    Thanks - thats all good

  • Cannot drag Audio Transitions or Audio Effects to Sequences in Premiere Pro 6.0.5

Have reinstalled Premiere Pro 6.0.5 because I cannot drag Audio Transitions or Effects to any Timeline sequences in my Projects. Have tried modifier keys, but to no avail. Any suggestions to fix this problem? Thanks

You're not trying to drag them to a sequence in a bin, are you?  That won't work.

  • How to trim audio transition separate from video duration?

I have a cut between two clips. I add a :15 transition default to audio/video. How can I trim the audio duration back to :05 leaving the video at :15 without first having to unlink (option/L) the two.
    What is the modifier key?
    FCP vers. 6

Actually, no. If you Unlink the audio & video (Option/L) on the first & second track, then the transitions can be adjusted individually. Both timing and position. Once they are right - relink (Option/L) again.
Weird, but I often use the default transition I have and then go thru this whole workaround to fine tune fade-ups or shift the centers of the two transitions. I just thought that there was a simpler step.

  • Speed change for audio also?

When changing the speed of some video I cannot change the speed of the audio to keep the audio in sync with the video. Or is there a way to sync the audio with the video after the video has had a speed change? This has probably been discussed before but I can't find it.

Thank you for responding. It is very late now and I am just getting to your responses so I can't be sure but I will work on the project tomorrow. However, as I remember the audio and video are still linked and I have not unlinked them but I am only getting a speed change on the video. In your second response you mentioned making a speed change of the audio - I tried using the speed change tool on the audio but got nowhere - IF this is how you thought I should change the audio speed. I will get to the testing tomorrow about the linked audio and video to make sure they are still linked. Again, thanks for your response. This may seem like a lame question but I need help on some of the most simple problems.

  • Audio Transitions.. I'm experiencing "jump cuts" in audio

    I am new to FCP.
How come my audio is not transitioning along with my video. I have no prob in iMovie and other consumer apps.
The video transitions smoothly but my audio JUMPS abruptly.
Thanks for your time. It's appreciated!

Well, did you apply a transition to the audio? This has to be done separately...transitions don't happen to audio AND video at the same time. Unlike iMovie, you need to add an AUDIO transition separate from video. Unless you see that transistion icon on your audio cut, it ain't there.

  • Converting 24-44 sample rate to 24-48 - without losing video sync?

    Hi,
I am doing a video shoot for a shot film and I need my final outputs at 24bit and 48khz for audio. Video frame rate is 24fps.
I am planning to do live sound recorded externally for good quality when compared to camera internal records. But I have a macbook which is 9 yrs old and I can only use garageband with my focusrite saffire6 usb audio interface and I cannot use logic in this old macbook.
    So my questions are
    1. Can I record live sound using garageband as DAW and export files at 24-48 from GB?  I find it can do only 24-44....
    If not...
    2. Can I open the garageband project in my imac at my studio with (Logic Pro X) later at the end of each day of shoot , and export the recorded tracks of GB to 24-48 wav or aif from logic pro x ? ( I dont want to change the logic pro x project to 24-48 from 24-44 as the pitch of the recorded voice alters.
If i export the tracks at 24-48 from a 24-44 project and then re-import it to another logic pro x project (24-48) what exactly changes ? Will i lose video sync / lip sync ? will there be any noticable quality loss ?
Pl. do help me with my above questions. I will be converting small small audio clips of the shots related to the video.
I dont want finish my movie then change the sample rate of the entire audio track....
So will the video / lip sync be lost in any way ??  Is 24-44 to 24-48 convertion recommended ??  as I have only my old mac book only to use to record audio on the shoot location and i dont want to carry my imac to the location... I will be using my rode video mic pro and saffire 6 usb interface in my old macbook  i am not in a position to invest on another recorder.
Looking forward for your replies and comments. Thank you.
    Kind Regards,

You are delivering audio for a video project.

I am going to deliver a long bounce which then the director will put in his system and mix with the other elements of the film. dialogue, etc.. I was not asked for a 48 file .. and in the past I was always fine by delivering 44.1 audio files to editors or mixers..
Arguably, you should've asked what format they require the finished files to be in (ideally before you started). Probably best to check now what they can/will be able to work with. Then you will know what must be done with the work you have in progress.

  • Transitions cause audio/ video sync problem

Lets see if I can explain this one. Its certainly an odd problem.
I have an iMovie project, with around a couple hundred photos in it, and some short video clips. Im putting transitions in between everything.
At some point I noticed that, sometimes, I'll add a transition after a video clip, and then the last few seconds still have my audio from that clip but the video changes to a photo 2 photos later in the time line. Then it changes to the next photo after the clip.
Im using the latest iMovie HD, and Quicktime Pro 7.5.5, and Mac OS X 10.5.4.

    Hi
    I do like this:
    • Select the video-clip
    • goto Advance menu - select extract audio
    • now apply transition
    • adjust audio clip

  • Audio out of sync after speed change...

I thought I'd posted this, but it doesn't appear in the list of subjects, so I'll try again...
I have a hard limit of 30 minutes for my church's broadcasts on Public Access TV. Some of the sermons, the only part of the service we broadcast, have run over time though usually only by a couple of minutes. I've tried the "simple" fix of right-clicking on the video in the timeline and changing the "Speed/Duration" setting, making sure to click the "Maintain pitch" option. Prior to CS3 this usually worked without problem. Now, with CS3, the audio gets distorted ("fuzzy", like there's another channel added slightly off-phase) and the audio is generally out of sync with the video by as much as a full second.
Can anyone suggest WHY this is happening and, perhaps more importantly, what steps I can take to fix the audio WHEN it happens?!?!
    Thanks in advance,
    J. Sky 8^)

    Jim,
Sorry that I've taken so long to respond...
I do this rarely, so it's hard to be definitive, but I have noticed that the DELAY (out of sync) problem can happen in either situation ("maintain pitch" selected or NOT), but have only been able to recognize the distortion (fuzziness) when "maintain pitch" is selected.
    Hope that helps!
Thanks for any and all assistance!!

  • Speed change cause audio out of sync?

you know the new feature of Premier is that you can change the speed with a line on the timaline, but with that, the audio does not change with it! how do i make the audio change with the video?

If you just change the static speed, the audio also changes speed. If you use the time remapping speed keyframes, it unlocks the audio; the audio does not change speed. If you are doing variable speed, it is common that the native audio track is not used.

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)

  • Importing changes the audio quality of original video

When I import a video into a new project the audio sampling rate of the video goes down and the audio channel changes to mono though the video is stereo.
I have tried creating new projects changing the sequence presets to ones that include the higher sample rates and stereo, but this didn't work.
More info on the original raw video:
    AVI
    Frame size: 1280x720
    Frame rate: 29/frames per second
    Data rate: 5000kbps
    Total bitrate 5192kbps
    Audio:
    Bit rate: 192 kbps
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Audio sample rate 44kHz
When I drag and drop this video into the project section of premiere, and I click the "Info" tab, I notice that the audio is "11025 Hz - 16-bit - Mono" which is different from the original video.
Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it?
    Thanks!

It might help if you were to post a screenshot with the
full details (codecs, etc.) of the .avi file in question.
Here are a couple of free utilities for media file inspection:
    GSpot

Also, you neglected to mention your version of Premiere.

  • Video transitions with audio

    Hello all,
Is there any way of doing a seamless transition from a menu to track with audio as well as video.
I'm trying to create an interactive DVD for Children where you click on a rabbit, it then moves in the video transition and then becomes a track where ther is a close up of the movement.
I have audio on the close up as it is a track but it would make it much better if there was audio on the transition movie.
    thanks for any help

What sort of programmes do the high end blockbuster DVD producers use?
Some very high end expensive ones like Scenarist and others. Though between DVD SP, DVD AE and some good encoders (such as bitVice, digigami, or CC running on a MacIntel Windows set-up) you can do some real good things and accomplish many things that need to get done. The real kicker for those DVDs (IMO) is the source footage - cameras, lighting and post work. Dealing with real good source is a plus.
And of course you have very talented graphics people for the menus and so on. But once those elements are made and encoded to m2v, DVD SP for the most part, with DVD AE, can do alot of the same things. The vast majority of what is on a DVD for many DVDs really is not different. You get your cutsey things and so forth, and things that make you go "coool" especially when you author your own DVDs.
Jake, Hal and others probably can fill you in more on what they like in the other systems and what they think DVD SP may/does lack, but again DVD SP and DVD AE together is a pretty strong set up.
There is also other software out there that adds interactivity to DVDs (I think things like Who Wants to Be A Millionaire on DVD and some others may have used variations) but do not hold me to it.

  • Missing Video & Audio transitions in FPC 4.5

Hello I recently replaced my HD and reinstalled all my Apps. After downlaoding 2 hrs of video on my scratch drive and getting ready to edit I noticed my effects tab is missing and when I look in the menu under effects (specifically video and audio transitions ) they are all greyed out as if unavailable ( which they are ). I reinstalled FPC and ran the SW updates and reopened the project but there are still no video and audio transition effects available.
    Can any one help pleaase.
    Many thanks.

There's a way to get it back. Just can't remember off the top of my head. I'll be back in the office tomorrow and see if I can figure it out. but in the meantime.... Is there an item in the windows menu (if there is a windows menu) for effects. If so, call it up and then drag it back into the browser. Worst case scenario, get fcprescue (do a search here and make sure you get the correct version for fpc 4.5) and delete the preferences. The effects tab in the browser will return as it's part of the default preferences.
