BUG: Toggling interface on/off causes missing menu toolbar items and icons in Photoshop CS4!

When I toggle the interface on/off it causes missing menu toolbar items and icons until I exit and restart Photoshop CS4. I know this can happen if problem filters are installed. So I have the latest Alien Skin filters installed and have already followed their AutoLayer2.8li file updates to resolve Windows Photoshop CS4 issues. I also have Luxology imageSynth 2.0 filter installed. So since all my filters are updated to CS4 compatible versions, I shouldn't have this problem but yet it occurs. Any way to fix this?
I'm using WinXP SP2, 4 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 with newest 185.85 driver. I have 3D canvas rotation turned on.

What do you mean by this? Are you using standard methods (i.e. the buttons on the top-right of the screen) in Windows Explorer to minimize and then restore? or what?
Are you on XP 64-bit? or 32-bit?
Did you install driver version 185.85 before or after the problem started?
Do you just one GTX 260, or are you doing SLI at all?
Do you have more one monitor? If so, and you limit yourself to just one, do you still have the problem?
Also, just to make sure that this problem wasn't somehow caused by your plug-ins (because I have seen onOne plug-ins, at least, that install several DLL files and you can't disable DLLs by renaming with ~ like with plug-in files), or caused by a messed up install of PS, go ahead and repair the PS install. Follow the "Restore the default set of Photoshop CS4 plug-ins" section in this document, except that after Step 3 (or Step 5, if you're on 64-bit Windows) get rid of the entire "Adobe Photoshop CS4" folder from Program Files (and the one in Program Files (x86) if you're on 64-bit Windows):

Missing Menu bar items - last effort

I've searched and read here and found no solutions, so I'm posting this as a final attempt.
I'm working with a system new to me. It had OS 9 on it when I got it. I checked for firmware updates that might be needed and it seemed current, so I installed 10.4 from my retail disc (versus disk from my G5). No problems. I did a custom install with none of the foreign (to USofA) languages and only a couple of the printer manufacturers drivers. Once installation complete, I finished the setup. Repaired disk permissions, then ran the stand alone 10.4.6 combo update. Repair disk permissions again - then used software update as a shoping list for needed updates and downloaded most of them and installed in the order released. Those I didn't download, I used software update to install. From the MacFixit site, I found that reinstalling the combo update fixed this issue for some - it did not for me. I also tried, System Preferences, and turning them on, but typically they would not show and in one instance (I think it was Sound, volume control) the box would check, from my clicking on it, then the beach ball, then would unchecked - all on it's own.
This is the second rebuild of the system and still the issue persists. The first rebuild was with a 200 GB HD in the system, but it's too large to make full use of with the stock controller, so I purchased new 120 GB HD.
I have no third party menu bar items and almost no third party software on the system. The primary piece is the current version of Cocktail, which I have been using to repair permissions, etc. though I have also used Apple's Disk Utility for the same and seen no difference. I have also tried deleting various Apple pref files, per other threads in this forum - to no avail.
One last tidbit - in case it means something to someone - restarts on this system take forever and sometimes I have to do a manual shut down holding the power button in. This is not anything I've seen before - on the dozens of systems I've worked with/on.
At this point, I see nothing more to try than move to an earlier version of Mac OS X, perhaps 10.3 even, though I really wanted 10.4 for my wife's system. I've worked with 10.4.6 on many systems and not seen this, including my dual 800 G4 and my dual 2.7 G5.

When I started it and worked with the first five or ten minutes, the icons were not there. But when I came back an hour or so later, they were. I restarted the system and it did so in the manner I would expect, not hanging as it had all the other times. Once restarted the icons showed up. I have since installed the stand alone 10.4.2 combo and restarted and the icons are still there. Will go for 10.4.6 and see what happens.
My initial theory at this point is this. Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.

SOME FUNCTIONS BEHIND MENU/TOOLBAR ITEMS NOT WORKING

In application the toolbar button 'new record' and 'next record' are not
working. The associated menu items also not work.
When copying same set of binaries to another directory with another forms
listener then everything is ok. So the problem is not in the fmx's.
Most menu/toolbar items do work only those two have problems.
Any suggestions?

The problem was probably due to a connection error.
Nothing to do with designer or headstart.

Missing Menu Bar items

My finder quit working recently. I restarted and rebuilt permissions, restarting again. The finder is now working but all Apple menu bar items are gone and when I check them in System Preferences it does not good. I still have third party items in the menu bar, air display, evernote, 1 password and dropbox. The items I am missing that were there are date/time, time machine, battery percent and possibly one or two more that I'm forgetting about. Any help wold be greatly appreciated.

Spacing of Spry Menu submenu items, and inserting background images

Hiya, need a bit of help, could someone possibly guide me with this?
I've created a Spry Menu in DW CS5 - so far, so good.. However I'm pretty new to CSS Styles so need pointers at what to change to get the result I need. I've created the spry menu, however the submenu dropdown items are not flush to the ones above, theres a 1px horz gap between each item and while it looks okay, its particularly visible in Firefox and Chrome and would prefer no spacing at all..

if you take a look at the drop down menu bar you'll see what i mean - what do I need to do to remove the spacing?
I also want to replace the solid colour with images, where do I specify the images for 1) top menu item 2) submenu item and 3) 'hover' item, and do I need to make any areas transparent?

Your apps are crashing. So close all of them and reset your iPad.
In order to close apps in iOS 5 or iOS 6, first tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Closing apps in iOS 7 works like this. Drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

My macbook pro 15 inch freezes up. I forced a shutdown. After reboot, system restarted to factory settings, applications/softwares disappeared, apple dropdown menu disabled, dock and icons missing, keyboard not functioning

Hi. I'm in need of great help as I do not understand how this could have happened.
I had my firefox on, with multiple tabs and windows as I was doing intense research for a paper. My screen then freezes up, but my mouse could still work. Having experienced this before, I immediately pressed and hold the power button till my macbook pro shuts down.
After which, I switched it back on. To my horror, everything was resetted to factory settings: my desktop background was replaced, the fonts on the clock display were different. But this wasn't so bad.
After which, I realised that my dock went missing, together with the icons. I clicked the apple drop down menu, and my screen hanged momentarily, and in that moment everything on the screen disappeared (including the upper dock) for a few seconds and appear again. Meaning, i cant click the drop down.
Similar thing happened with my spotlight. Using the hot keys command-space, the dropdown appeared on the top right, but when i started to type, the screen disappeared and appeared again like before.
Finally i checked my applications folder, and it seems like all the applications are missing, like they have never been installed before! Their folders are there, but the icons and apllications themselves aren't. No applications/software installed- not even the utilities and system preference softwares that came with the macbook.
Luckily though, all my documents are safe. I just cant open them because my iworks and adobe are all missing and "not installed". I cant even access the internet. I'm doing this via my iPhone.
So basically i cant do anything because my apple drop down menu is unreachable, so is my spotlight, and my apps/softwares like system preference, utility are all missing. Is there a way i can troubleshoot this? Or make my macbook work again? I have already restarted and shutdown and switch it back on again near five times.
I know my explanation is long, but do help me if you can. I'm really at a lost right now...

Thanks for the help. I did what you advised, but it still did not work.
The repair disk was successful. Unfortunately when the system restarted to boot my startup disk, I faced the exact same problems as I did previously. I also did a hardware test, but no problems were found.
Even tried powering off and on the macbook pro again but the same problems remained...
I tried to back-up my files too but they refuse to copy/move into my hard disk drive folder.
Nothing works.
Do you have other ideas? Or suggestions?

Bug or Feature? Array Custom Contextual Menu Destroys "Delete" and "Insert" Element!

Step to Reproduce:
- Create an Array (doesn't matter of what type).
- Ctrl-M (to switch to Run Mode)
- Notice that:
- when you Right-Click on the Array borders, you have access to an "Empty Array" menu item among other things
- when you Right-Click in an Array element, you have access to an "Insert Element Before" and a "Delete Element" menu item among other things
- Now switch back to Edit Mode and modify the contextual menu in the following way:
- Advanced>>Run-Time Shortcut Menu>>Edit...
- Edit>>Copy Entire Menu
- Switch to "Custom" menu (instead of "Default"): the menu disappears and is replaced by a single ??? item
- Edit>>Paste: The default menu reappears with the ??? on top
- Create you favorite custom menu item by editing the ??? item (say: Do Nothing)
- Save the menu with the control and switch to Run Mode (Ctrl-M).
- Now try the first 3 steps above: wherever you right-click, you have access to the Custom Menu, but the Array Element contextual menu is GONE.
In other words, you cannot (it seems) define a custom contextual menu for an array without destroying the default contextual menu for its elements.
Therefore, if you want to preserve the ability to Insert and Delete Elements in an array, you have to add these two items to the Array contextual menu and juggle with the position of the right-click to figure out whether or not to display them...

Well, I created in LabVIEW 2012 such a control and added part of the default menu in the way you described with copy-paste as a submenu to an Edit entry in my custom menu and it did not disappear:

Windows 8.1 filenames missing in all tile and icon veiw, including desktop.

I have Windows 8.1 Pro and had some sort of crash while I was at lunch. I came back, and all my icons where missing. I was unable to bring up Task Manager so I rebooted the computer by pressing the power button once for a 'graceful' shut down and restart
process. No errors came up, but then all my desktop icons only show their size instead of their name.
I brought up explorer and all folders were set this way. I was able to reset the folder view 'Details' to include the name so that all subfolders in Details view showed their name as well. I'm unable, however, to un-hide the file names in any other view
(including desktop) as there is no check box to uncheck 'Hide File Names'
Please help :/

I shall suggest you to go through a System Restore.Select any restore point when there was no problem.

It depends on the table.
Some BW tables have indexes on DB only since DDIC does not allow to create non-unique primary indexes. For any wanted difference an entry in table DBDIFF is created.
It has has to be analyzed if it's an wanted or unwanted difference.

How do I bring my menu bar back and the adress bar across the top of screen

across the top it says most visited getting started latest headlines, next line is yahoo search and mail shopping etc, next line is google search .
I am missing the top line that has tools , file etc and the type in address bar with the drop down box

Missing Line Items and '?' Symbols in some Reports

I have upgraded the patch level of my production server and patch level

problem is that whenever I run SAP FICO standard reports FL3N, FBL5N,
KB01, F.08 etc it generates the report correctly but when i am taking
print out of these reports it misses some line items and total value as
well screen shots are attached for information.
my second problem is that there are some garbage entries with
symbol '?' in SAP Menu and toolbars of some Reports. Screen shot is
also attached for your information.
i am facing lots of problem in executing my daily operations due to
these errors.

Windows and icons are black, menu items are not showing correctly

Well just doing my normal routine today browsing the Internet, watching videos on vlc, my computer suddenly started to glitch. Icons were disappearing, Safari turned black.
So i did a restart but the problem is still there. I cant even choose the user properly because the avatars are not there it's just all dark gray. Remembering where my user avatar is, i do a click and type in my password and I do and able to get in to my system but all windows menu items and icons are black.
Basically what I'm saying is the system seems to be working fine except for that I can't see the icons and windows properly displayed.
I've already tried to reinstall of Mavericks hoping that it's a software thing. You guys think it's a problem with the graphic processor?
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated thank you.

This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. Not showing Menubar item and Title text in Menu painter screen

I have prepare the Menubar items & Text title in Menu painter, but at final when i execute the program, it shows the fields & buttons but not the menu bar item and title that i have created. I am missing some step or what. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
perhaps you didn´t activate the GUI status. Go to transaction SE38, enter your programme´s name, press ctrl + shift + F5. System displays all components in your programme. Open the nodes for GUI status and GUI title .... and those might be inactive.
Otherwise, you didn´t assign the menubar and title to your programme.
