Bug UIX 2.2.8: German translation for paging drop down

Hi, there is a minor bug in the german translation of the paging drop down ("1-8 of 30") of a table.
In German there is a missing space: "1-8 von30" instead of "1-8 von 30".
Bug is new in 2.2.8. Was ok in 2.1.21.
Thanks, Markus

• How to get ALL values as default for a drop down box in JSF

Hi,
I have a drop down box in JSF page which retrieves values from LOVCache.java. I have values like Company, Client, User, ALL in the drop down box.
By default blank value is selected for the drop down box. I want to make ALL(which retrieves data for all the values) as default value for the drop down box.
Could any body help me? Any help must be appreciated.
Thanks,
Aseet

Thanks Nikhil. But I am fetching the values from the LOVCache.java.
I am using <af:selectManyChoice>. Is there any way I can use LOVCache.java value for selecting default values instead of hard coding?
I mean to say can I write
unselectedLabel="#{LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList.anyValue}"
where LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList is used to populate the drop down box.

• How to set default value for a drop down in Mobile Application Studio

Hi,
We have a requirement in which for a drop down - Transaction type (Activities), the value should be defaulted to 'Visit' and the Activity Category should be 'Sales Visit'. I tried debugging the code and got the piece of code where this value is referred, but i'm unable to find out the location where this value is picked from. Also while opening up the properties corresponding to this, there is a default value tab in the properties pane. I tried by giving this default value, but didn't work. When I'm trying to revert the changes i've made in the property, it is showing up an error.
Any pointers on this would be of great help.
Thanks in advance,
Rasmi.

Hi Rasmi,
You can default the process type field of BOACTIVITY by different ways-
1.In BOL, business object BOACTIVITY loaded event, check the parameter bIsNew and then default the value of process type if you want it only for new activities.
Other attributes currently get defaulted in the attributechanged event of BOACTIVITY where field is processtype. So if processtype is defaulted it will try to default other attributes based on that.It will pick values from the customizing maintained in SPRO->CRM->Transactions->Basic Settings->Define Transaction Type->Customizing Header.
2.You can also do defaulting in the UI.If you want to default one field based on a value selected for drop down, then write the code in the onselected2 event of the drop down.
In your specific case, best way is to use option 1.
Regards
Vivek

• Using a different background for the drop down options in a spry menu bar

Hi all,
I am trying to set just a background color in the drop down menu, I have a background image repeated along the x asis at the top but this has come down into the sub menu bar how can I change just the lower drop down menu to just a solid color??
I have tryed google and youtube to try to find a answer but have had no luck in finding the solution to this problem.

winabe23, you joined this month—probably because you were having trouble with CSS and HTML and you have certainly come to the right place.
I'm going to send you to several places I have found helpful in understanding how you can make drop-down menus in CSS without the need for JavaScript—though JS may be necessary for certain older browsers that do not understand pseudo classes and may be necessary for the blind or keyboard navigation.
CSS Wizardry has a great tutorial here.
Line25 has one here.
For those who don't want to have to wrangle code, here is a menu generator from PureCSSMenu.
Here's a page by Eric Meyer who describes how the concept works.
And here is a video tutorial by "zorro30mum." It's in two parts, but there is a link to Part 2 below Part 1.
The reason why I am posting all of these links in my answer is because you're using Spry. And Spry has been found wanting by Adobe and they are deprecating and abandoning it.
The Spry framework is an open source Ajax framework that Adobe developed. Ajax stands for Asynchronous JavaScript And XML. On August 29th 2012, Adobe handed over Spry to github. If you want to help github develop Spry, there is a site for that, but I'm thinking you're not a JavaScript developer.
I would recommend you pay a little more attention and time to Ajax, which is not deprecated and not discontinued. It allows you to do client-side triggers for server-side code. But that's if you want to do work in JavaScript, XML and a server-side language, like Cold Fusion, php or ASP.
But in the meantime, the tutorials above will get you into understanding how this whole menuing stuff is done in CSS and give you the understanding necessary to do simple stuff, like changing the color of a background for a drop-down.
I hope this helps you make great websites!

• What are the XFA properties for a drop-down list?

I am having trouble distinguishing between the "Text" and "Value" for a drop down list.
I have a data drop-down list that is being populated by a database at runtime. I am using the "addItem" event while looping though the recordset. The "addItem" event takes 2 parameters:
param1: A valid string representing the value to display in the field.
param2: (Optional) A valid string representing the new items bound value. If empty, the default value is an empty string.
What is the corresponding XFA properties for param1 and param2?
If I want to reference "param2" somewhere else in the form, is it dropDownList.rawValue? is it dropDownList.value?

reviewed the sample.zip form and xml file. The XML format is different from my file. Your file has one field named "item" with 3 records.
<data>
- <field>

1

2

3

</field>
</data>

My XML file has multiple fields and records. • In Firefox 4, how do I get back the context menu for the drop down list of the Location Bar so I can Open Link in New Tab, which I did often in FF 3?

Firefox 3 has a context menu for the drop down list of
the Location Bar. One option on this menu I used often
is "Open Link in New Tab" -- quite convenient.
This context menu has disappeared in Firefox 4.
Can I get it back?

The "Use custom settings for history" setting allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting that setting doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.
Firefox shows the "Use custom settings for history" setting as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
• AJAX for coordinated drop downs

At the moment, using Virtual Forms to load values from database in one drop down on selection of some value in another drop down i.e. just like coordinated drop down example.
It works fine, but it refreshes whole page.
Just wondering, if I could use AJAX in this scenario, has any body used or implemented for existing drop downs? Will be very helpful if one can give me some pointers or point me (or post) some relevant examples/code.
Thanks.

• How to set a default value for a drop down list box and then apply cascading based on the default value in Infopath 2010.

Hello Everyone
I have two drop downs. Both are coming from look up fields from two lists. i want to set a default value(first list item) for the first drop down list box and then apply cascading based on the default value for the next drop down list box. I found one article(http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2010/display-first-item-drop-down-list-box-infopath-2010.htm)
where in i can set a default value but i can't apply cascading based on that default value. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Hey Ramanjulu,
Take a look at the below article which I believe will answer your question.

• Information field for a drop down list

Hi,
I have a drop down list that is a list of abbreviated codes. I would like to have a "?" box beside them that when the user clicks on it, it pops up an information box that shows the Description for each abbreviated code. Alternatively the drop down list could have the Abbreviated code with the description beside it, but when the user selects this I would need it to just show the abbreviated code in the finished product of the form.
I am very new to LiveCycle so have not done any scripting, so would need a fairly comprehensive guide if thats what is involved.
I have searched the internet for weeks and have not been able to find a solution. So truly appreciate any help.
An example of my abbreviation codes are CC and CF
An example of what I need in my information box is: CC - Check duty in jump seat / simulator
CF - Check duty in operating seat

Since it's early days....
the simplist solution I put forward for you is:
1)
- make two combo-boxes
- 1 with abbreviated codes
- 1 with corresponding "un-"abbreviated values
2)
On the "un-"abbreviated codes combos 'ready:layout' event, but the following code:
this.selectedIndex = dropDownAbbreviated.selectedIndex;
3)
Make the "un-"abbreviated combobox readyonly (it will look better)
have fun

• Style Mapping for TOC & Drop-down

I'm using RoboHelp 8 and MS Word 2007. I've modified the Style Mapping.dot Word template in the project folder (as opposed to the generic one in the RoboHelp installation folder). I've done the mapping in the Printed Document Appearance dialog box. The problem is that RoboHelp seems to totally ignore or override the styles in the template. I hope that someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Let me list some of the problems:
In the table of contents, the top-level entries are numbered. Within RoboHelp, the Heading 1 entries are not numbered, and the comparable style, TOC1, in the Word Template is not numbered. Yet in the output, the entries are numbered. I don't want them numbered.
The Word output for "dropspot" text is indented by 1/2", and the output for "droptext" is indented by 1". Both are encased in
tags in the RoboHelp source, and the style for div.droptext in the default.css does not contain a left-margin rule. In the Word template, the mapped paragraph style for the droptext does not contain an indent. Of course the style information for dropspot on both the RoboHelp and Word sides is a character format and can't contain any left-margin/indent information. Just for grins, I tried changing the color for dropspot and droptext in the style sheet; that change was produced in the output, but nothing that I have been able to do eliminates the indentation.
The Word output for the droptext is bolded. Again, it is not bolded in the RoboHelp source, defalut.css, nor in the Word template style mapped to it.
In the case of the TOC problem, RoboHelp seems to add the numbering to the TOC1 style even though it is not in Style Mapping.dot. Fixing is fairly simple by just altering the style in the output.
In the case of the dropspot/droptext entries, the problem is monumental. RoboHelp does not appear to add the indentation information to the Word style sheet. Instead, it appears ot modify every single instance inline. Beccause the Help system in question consists of a very large volume of drop-down entries and because it must exist in both online and printed versions, it virtually requires the maintenance of two entirely separate "documents." Since the source can change frequently and substantially, that becomes extraordinarily expensive in terms of resources. We really need to be able to generate useful printed documentation from the online source. Any suggestions.

I just created a new project and set it up to map to the Style Mapping template. That is obviously a new copy taken from the installation folder.
I opened the template in Word and used the Change Style pod (CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + S). There I removed numbering from the TOC style. When I generated a document, there was no numbering.
Dropspots can be part of a paragraph so there should be no indenting. In this sentence "part of a paragraph" could be a dropspot so indenting would be a nonsense.
Using the supplied template neither were indented.
That all suggests to me that a fresh look at your in project template needs another review.

• Default values for dependent drop down menu

Hi!
I did create an insert record page that lets the user put in information using text fields. In addition the form has a dependent drop down menu for a category and then depending on the chosen category, the user is presented with choices in a second drop down menu for subcategories.
The insert of the record itself works fine.
The records are then listed in a table. A link to a details page should then list all fields of a chosen record. I have another form sporting them dependent drop down menus again. Since I retrieve a record from the database I would like to have the drop down menus default to the values stored in the database.
But whatever I tried the menus always default to the respective first entries in each menu.
I tried to use the "select value equal to" field in the "insert record" for the category and the "Default detail value" field in the dependent drop down item for the subcategory field.
Any pointers anybody?
Thanks in advance
Juergen

Hi there I cannot understand your request fully but I think I understand....
I think I have done nearly exactly what you need
I will try to explain
for a start I am working on a art gallery site that has many different artists and many different paintings
I am able to add a new artist and have that artist name appear automatically in a dropdown menu on my add painting form page so that when I add a new painting I do not have to type the arrtists name every time
I am not sure this is what you need but I think maybe....
(i have another site that displays different categories of jewellry... with a form that has same dropdown and can choose product category.... but the process is the same)
the way I did it was to first create an 'artist_info' table in my database and an 'add artist page' pretty simple
Then an painting_pnt table in my database and an 'add painting' page with a form that contains a dropdown menu that is dynamically populated from the artist_infotable... label from the artist_name field value from the artist_id field so the form uses two recordsets.......
Then in my painting_pnt table I have a field that stores the artist_id
So when I add a new artist..... the name automatically appears in the dropdown menu when I add a new painting I choose the artist name and then later I can filter recordsets on my detail pages using the id_artist....
there is a lot more to it as well but that should get you started
I hope this helps
If you have any questions at all I will try to explain better

• Dynamically populating data for the drop down lists

Hi,
I am trying to have a mutually dependent drop down lists in my page.
This is what I am trying to do -
Lets consider there are 3 drop down lists (Choice - Select Many). A simple example lists are - Country, State, County. Now users selects country from drop down, I need to get all the states for that country as the data for the "State" drop down list. Then user selects a state, I need to populate data for the "County" drop down list.
I am trying to do this. I added a ValueChangeListener method in the backing bean and tried to add this on the "Select Many Choice" component. But the method is never fired. I tried to change few other properties like - "immediate", "Auto Submit". but method is not fired. The method in backing bean is as shown below -
public void onRegionSelect(ValueChangeEvent event) {
System.out.println("Value changed ==>> "+event.getNewValue().toString());
Need some help on how to do this.
