Bug using iPhoto on Macbook Pro Retina

Hi Guys,
First post.
I have the new Macbook Pro Retina 13"
Whenever I use iPhoto, as soon as I go to another program and come back it takes me to "Last import" folder regardless of where I was.
Is there a fix for this bug? It's really annoying

Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
If the new library doesn't work properly try this:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
In either case your current library will be untouched for further testing if necessary.

  • What is the best external battery to use with a macbook pro retina?

Looking for the best option here. What is the best external battery to use with a macbook pro retina?

You should check your date of purchase against the manufacturer's warranty
or guaranty since some of those better brands have some recourse should
they fail within a specified time period. A good reason to save dated receipts.
Since solid-state USB drives probably don't (all) use a wear-leveling software
to equally utilize their recordable space evenly, it is possible that some of these
may exhibit a failure in some sector areas due to excessive over-writing. If the
ones you use do not have such a technology or an undercounted total capacity
with a means to automatically write in other sections, you may have to consider
manually using a disk utility to zero-overwrite and reformat them occasionally.
Even so, that may only help a marginal flash or thumb drive work a little longer.
Should a camera memory card fail you still may be able to attempt with margin of
success, to +recover image files+ from it. re: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec
The standard default format they ship with works well for most file types; so if
you aren't moving OS X or Mac app specific files around on a USB flash drive,
the original format should be fine. Oh, you can use Disk Utility to attempt to do
a repair; but in some cases you may have to reformat them, etc.
    {Some of the flash drive warranties or guarantees may vary from between regions;
so if you have one with a '5 Year' guarantee in the US, other rules may apply in EU,
    or when you seek to replace an item under warranty outside of where it was bought.}
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I use SDXC on MacBook Pro Retina and Bootcamp?

I bought a Patriot LX Series 128GB SDXC card recently for my MacBook Pro Retina. When I insert it on Mac, it is recognized no problem. In Windows 8 (on Boot Camp), it scans indefinitely and often-time it crashes Windows Explorer, just to insert it. Has anyone had any issues with SDXC on Boot Camp? For me, it's just not working.

    Lion tech Specs: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP629
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
But the latest Aperture requires 10.7.5 at least; I cannot find the TechSpecs for that system, if I remember correctly 64 bit processor was mandatory, same as for Mt. Lion.
One other thought - if both systems cannot be upgraded to the same OS, why not create a Snowleopard partition on the newer mac and have both machines run Aperture 3.2.4. This would require to restore the previous version of the Aperture library from backup, however.

  • Digitize Using HDMI on MacBook Pro Retina?

Hi all.  I'm considering upgrading to Final Cut X, but I have a question.  I just got a new MacBook Pro Retina which has a built-in HDMI port.  Is it possible for me to hook up my camcorder via HDMI and then digitize video/audio?
I'm sure it's safe to assume that HDMI cannot provide deck control and timecode, which is fine.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Right as Tom says- not out of the box with the MacBook Pro alone. But you can get this via gear from companies like AJA and Blackmagic.

  • Started using iPhoto, now Macbook Pro crashes randomly

    Hi,
I started using iPhoto today to resize some photos. As soon as I tried to edit a photo or export a number of photos at one time the program crashes. A blue screen appears for a second and then I am brought back to the user login screen.
I read on another thread that it may help if you use iPhoto from a different user account. I tried to create a new user account in system preferences but as soon as I clicked the create new user button the same blue screen appeared and again I was brought back to the user login screen.
Now my macbook pro is crashing randomly. I am now using another machine to type this question as my mac crashes as I try and submit this.
Prior to using iPhoto today my mac did not crash at all.
    Can anyone help?

    Anyone any ideas?

  • How to use Siri on Macbook Pro Retina

New to Mac. Can I use Siri for dictation on my Macbook Pro with Retina Display?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Siri can't be used in the Mac. However, you can use Dictation if you have Mountain Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5449
If you haven't got Mountain Lion, try Dragon as Kappy has already said

  • Thundrbolt firmware update 1.2 will not install using yosemite on macbook pro retina

Cannot install thunderbolt firmware update 1.2 on macbook 13 in retina running yosemite.  Have tried disconnection all peripherals.  No success.

Probably your Thunderbolt display is already up-to date. To check this, follow these steps:
Choose About This Mac from the Apple () menu.
Click More Info and then click System Report.
Click Thunderbolt in the list on the left and locate the Thunderbolt Display section. If the Firmware Version is  26.2 and the Port Micro Firmware Version is 2.0.7, you won't need this update.
I bought my ATD one year ago, and according to Apple it is "up-to date"... But I still have serious problems with it (follow this thread).

  • Yosemite did not update my accounts using iCloud on MacBook Pro Retina

I just did a full restore with Yosemite. All went smooth until it came time to look for all of my email/calendar/messaging, and contacts accounts. Only Apple's iCloud account, not my Gmall, Yahoo, etc showed up to the dance. I had to manually reenter them . My Safari passwords were present though. The accounts on my iPad remained unchanged after the reentry. I am wondering why this occurred and how will this affect my iPad in the next day or so if at all. I never had this problem before with any other Mac OS.
    Thank you.

Spoke to Applecare. They said Yosemite is losing the data stored when migrating from Mavericks to Yosemite regarding other accounts. The other accounts are not populating when moving to Yosemite in many cases, not all. They know it is a problem.

  • How to create Install OS X Yosemite for MacBook Pro Retina Early-2015

HELP ME! Unable to Boot from Install OS X Yosemite USB
I just bought a new MacBook Pro Retina 13" Early-2015 and wish to install Windows 8.1. I created Windows Install USB using Boot Camp and Installing Windows. Unfortunately, I erase all SSD by accident.
I created Install OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 USB as guided at https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht201372 using my MacBook Pro Retina Late-2013.
This USB works perfectly on my MacBook Pro Retina Late-2013 but I am unable to boot from Yosemite 10.10.2 Install USB on my new MacBook Pro Retina Early-2015. The white stop sign appeared on black screen all the time. I am stuck here and can't reinstall OS X Yosemite on my new MacBook.
I also can't use Recovery boot as the SSD had been erased.
Please help to show me how to create OS X Install USB that can use with my MacBook Pro Retina 13" Early-2015

Boot the MBP with the OPTION + COMMAND + R keys.
It should result in a display with a revolving globe.
If you follow the directions, it will connect you to the Apple servers and you will be able to install the original OSX that came with your MBP.
You will need a solid Internet connection.
    Ciao.

  • Old MagSafe Airline Adapter not working with MacBook Pro Retina

I've got an old MagSafe Airline Adapter (one I bought when it first came out) that I'm trying to use with my MacBook Pro Retina (using a MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter). Sometimes the light is green, sometimes it is off, sometimes the battery icon in the menu bar shows plugged in, sometimes not, but in any combination, the machine is not maintaining charge; the battery discharges at a normal rate for just being on battery. For giggles, I borrowed my seatmate's year-or-two-old MagSafe adapter (the one with the right-angle plug) and plugged it into my machine (also using the MagSafe to MagSafe 2 converter). The light on that one turns orange, and though the battery icon shows "Not Charging", the battery is maintaining charge with the newer adapter. (My adapter, BTW, is able to maintain the charge on her 13" MacBook Pro.)
Was there a change to recent versions of this adapter to make the new ones work with the Retina MacBooks where the old one will not?

the green light on the mag safe turns on?
you should reduce your usage to a very minimal amount as I'm sure the airline doesn't output a strong enough signal for you to be running full screen films with high res. Maybe you should close your macbook P and see if it is charged after a little while of not using it.
turn your screen lights down, turn the sound gHZ down, quit all the downloadin'.
if you must run flash make sure you have the latest version (from the adobe site).
You're computer is intense and if you use it more then it's gaining, of course it going to be draining .
But this is probably moot since you're probably on said plane now. or was.
I'd imagine if you're not satisfied with the product you should return it detailing your situation.

  • Mac os x yosemite 10.10.1 still lags and bugs while using macbook pro retina 13inch i5 mid 2014

i just got macbook pro retina and i upgraded to yosemite 10.10.1 its still have bugs and lags a lot , does anybody feel the same ,
its not smooth at all ..

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • IMovie and iPhoto won't update on Used Macbook Pro Retina

I purchased a used macbook pro retina and did the usually initial setup for the laptop. My issue is that these two stock apps won't update in the app store. I recieve a message asking me to login using the ID that was used to purchase the app. I am assuming this is the ID of the previous owner , which of course I do not have. Any Ideas ???

The MBP needs to be disassociated from the original owners Apple ID. The original owner needs to call Apple Care to request that. Or if you have a sales receipt that proves you legally have purchased the MBP they may do it for you.
Then the MBP needs to be wiped clean and the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac installed using OS X Recovery. You can also reinstall the iLife apps, which you should accept into your Apple ID in the Mac App Store on the Purchaes pane.
