Bug w/ 2009.8 x86_64 image or my DVDr?

I just replaced a burnt-out DVDr w/ a new one (Sony Optiarc  AD-7240S-0B) and am finding that my Arch 2009.8 x86_64 disc doesn't boot promptly as it did before.  I have burnt several discs from the iso at different speeds and they all act the same.
Problem: long delay on booting the iso after I select the first menu option.  A bunch of stuff flys by, one relevent line reads:
driver `sr` needs updating - please use the bus_type methods
Then there is a 20 sec pause and the following message gets repeated:
Buffer I/O error, dev sr0, logical block 93084
sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=0x00 driverbyte=0x08
sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : 0x5 [current]
Info fld=0x2d739
sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] ASC=0x64 ASCQ=0x0
end_request: I/O error, dev, sr0, sector 744672
This gets repeated many times and there is a delay of about 2 min before it boots properly into the # prompt.  I don't think the problem is with the drive because it reads/boots the 2009.2 x86_64 CD just fine, and I downloaded and burn a Jaunty CDROM which also works just fine.  I am wondering if it's a problem w/ the specific hardware and the 2009.8 x86_64 build?
Thoughts and suggestions are welcomed.

I too am having I/O errors with the i686 image.  I thought my burner (NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD) was going out so I burned one using an imac at work that is dual boot mac/arch-64.  From the arch side I got the same I/O errors so decided not to change out my burner at home.  Now here's whats weird:  I logged into the mac side, redownloaded, and burned the disc with DiskUtility and got no such I/O errors.  I realize that doesn't help a lot of people.  I noticed there is no activity on the bug report:
http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16374
It is unconfirmed and assigned to no-one.
No one has mentioned it so I will,  the md5 and sha1 sums are fine.

  • Is this a bug of Outlook 2007 about images displaying in signature?

I've done many tests and researched on website or MS KB. But still got no solution.
    My issue is:
I make a signature with images linking from website which can be easily accessed.
I setup this signature in Outlook 2007, when I compose a new mail, and choose the signature I set. It won't show the images with a high percentage rate, meanwhile, I try to get into "Signature"-"Signature...",
Outlook2007 gets stuck, then you can not close Outlook or open Internet Explorer unless you kill the process of OUTLOOK.exe.
    1. Test are done under a clean XP system and Office 2007 standard fresh installed. Also there are some other staffs who help me test the signature that report the same issue on Office 2007.
    2. Images are rendered in 96dpi. They are all in very small size stored on website, can be easily accessed without network connctivity problem.
    3. The signature is made by simple HTML language not by Outlook signature setup wizard. but in this case,  you can ignore which method I use to create the signature. The images in signature can be displayed well in Outlook 2003 &
2010. Also I have tried insert images using "link to file" in Outlook signature setup wizard, got same issue.
    4. Don't suggest me to store the images locally. These images should be updated after a period. You can not ask the company staffs to update these images manually by themselves. and even if the images are stored locally, the images won't be shown
in Outlook 2007 with a high percentage rate.
    5. I've tried setup signature with or without an account profile, got same issue.
    6. I 've tried without an accout profile, just copy the signature file to Outlook signature folder, unplug the network cable, and "new mail" then load the signature, of course, the images won't be shown because network connection doesn't exist,
and then when I try to get into "Signature"-"Signature...",  the Outlook interface also gets stuck. So I think Outlook 2007 may have some problem on detecting the network connectivity.
    7. It is not possible to upgrate the version of Office. Since Office 2007 isn't out of date and is powerful enough for us, no one want to pay more money just to avoid this issue.
I don't know why I cannot upload a screenshot for troubleshooting. If needed. I can send a mail with screenshot attached.
So far to now, I still get no solution, I think this is a bug of Outlook 2007, because the same signature, there is no problem on Outlook 2003 & 2010. Hope someone of MS staff can see this article and report to technical support center.
I would appriciate anyone's kindly help but please consider that you understand what I am talking about. I don't want to waste time for each of us.
    thanks in advanced.

What kind of problem about the display image in signature?
How do you add the image into the message body when you send the message?
Does it show correct through Web-based access?
Outlook 2007 doesn't support some of Style Element, you may reference the link as below:

    Thanks.

Thanks for your reply,  I know that some Style Elements won't be supported in Outlook, but this is not the reason.
Please refer to my post previously, I post it but get no response.

  • Acrobat Reader DC - Bug with Dialog Boxes Containing Images?

    Hi all -
Been testing Reader DC.  Only took a couple of minutes to adjust to the new interface; pretty slick and intuitive.
Noticed a potential issue that I wanted to warn/share/prob solve with the community.
I was putting Reader DC through it's paces with a XFA PDF that has some dialog boxes, some of which even had images in them.  (Thanks again to BR001.)
The dialog boxes with images look great on Acrobat & Reader 9/10/11 (WIN & MAC) - images are clear; no pixelation.
Reader DC on MAC appears to be fine - resolution looks the same.
But Reader DC on WIN - the images are now pixelated. Especially around the edges, characters/numbers, etc.  You can tell something is "off" with the image.
A few simple side-by-side tests can be seen at links below.  Reader DC is on left; Acrobat 9 (9.5.5) is on right.
    Green smiley face: Dropbox - icon differences.PNG (83 x 83)
    Lightroom image: Dropbox - Lightroom Image - Comparison Test.PNG (225 x 132)
Reader DC banner image: Dropbox - Reader DC Banner--- Comparison test.PNG  *MOST VISIBLE ON THIS EXAMPLE (ironically) (422 x 45)
Simple banner with words image: Dropbox - Simple Banner - comparison test.PNG (342 x 100)
PDF containing the 4 buttons that triggered these dialog boxes: Dropbox - Dialog Boxes with Images - PDF - LC community.pdf
Bug in Reader DC for Windows? Not sure what else the cause could be...
Anyone having their dialog boxes with images open in Reader DC for Windows WITHOUT the pixelation?
    FYI/thoughts/ideas/suggestions/confirmations?  Hmmm.....

  • Bug? Corrupt Tones / Colours - Image looks different in photoshop

    Hi,
Am hoping somebody can help me as I must be doing something really stupid here. I'm currently evaluating various workflow products, and really like Lightroom but find that whenever I import an image into LR the tones, particular shadow tones, look way too dark. They look kinda posterised.
My monitor is color calibrated with a spyder. I am running Windows XP.
I've attached a link to an image to demonstrate. I took an sRGB JPEG and imported into LR. I then edited a copy in PS (exported as ProPhoto - converted in PS to Adobe 1988 colorspace), another copy is shown exported to Capture NX (also Adobe colorspace).
    http://www.hamiltonconsulting.net/strange%20tones.jpg
if you look at the shadow tones in the folds of the jacket you can see a minor difference between PS and Capture NX but you can see a clear difference in LR. The shadows are way darker.
The image opens fine it every other application I have tried, including the free XP viewers. LR is doing something strange to the file but I cant work out what.
I first noticed the problem occuring in Beta 4.1 and am now getting the same issue in the new Lightroom demo ( I had hoped it was a bug that would have been fixed). I have been installing all sorts of evaluation software of late, so maybe something hasnt been cleaned out of my registry, or something is clashing.
So far, I've tried lots of different images (all with the same problem). Recreating an image database. Reinstalling LR (countless times).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try or do I need to reinstall my entire PC :-(

The image on the left in PS looks the same in Picasa Image
Viewer (I selected it to be color managed based on the monitor profile), looks the same in Windows Image Viewer, and looks the same in the thumbnail.  The image on the right in LR is how the picture looks when I look at my image in Firefox but in Internet Explorer and in Chrome, the image looks like the image on the left in PS.  The image below shows how the thumbnail looks different from the actual picture when it's double clicked and viewed in Picasa.  The thumbnail (which shows the subjects having green skin) would be how I saw it online while the double clicked version is how I saw it in PS, even though it was sRGB (I checked the image properties to make sure of the color space).
I have a ATI 5470 GPU on my ASUS 17.3 inch laptop.  Not sure about the drivers.

  • Bug or feature? Button images prefixed with /i/

    Dear all -
Several people have noticed that button images get prefixed with /i/, so that if you use #IMAGE_PREFIX#image.gif then the source reads /i//i/image.gif (and of course the image isn't displayed). Admittedly I can't prove that right now because, oddly, IE refuses to show source at all and FF always shows the P101 source when I use #IMAGE_PREFIX#.
We were hoping to use a substitution string for the path so that we can pick up a file from the filesystem, but all we get is /i/&MY_IMAGES.image.gif. The substitution string works fine in the templates and elsewhere.
    #WORKSPACE_IMAGES# still works.
However, my question is: is this intended behaviour or a bug?
    Many thanks,
    John.

    Hi Carl -
    Button Image Attributes:
    Style = Image
    Image = <our substitution string>image.gif
(well, that's what we'd like anyway - currently we have:
    Image = #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#image.gif)
    Many thanks.
And, incidentally, many thanks for fixing that DHTML sublist bug in 2.2 - much appreciated.
    Regards,
    John.

  • BUG - Drag and drop an image, only working at the 2nd try

    I use the last version of JDeveloper : 11g R1 : 11.1.1.2.0
I try to drag and drop an image in a facet of a panelsplitter.
Once the page is loaded, the first time I try to drag the image, it does not work : the image does not follow the mouse.
When I try to drag the image again, then it works : the image follow the mouse
    So I don't think it's related to the destination/target.
I feel it's so simple, since it just requires to add <af:componentDragSource/> inside <af:image/>
that if it does not work, it can only be a bug in the functionality offered by ADF ...
Or maybe there is something wrong with the generation of the page ?
I get this message in blue in the "running log of WebLogic" :
<FormRenderer><setupEncodingContext> Multiple forms detected on viewId: /myPage.jspx. Rich client currently has some limitations in dealing with multiple forms.
Please note that I use jsp:include inside f:subview to include fragments (.jsff) so that the source and the destination are not in the same file, the source in a .jsff while the destination is on the main .jspx
The code related to the drag and drop :

    Any idea ?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
no bug that I can detect here as it works for me with the same setup. How likely is it that the image is too small so that you don't grab it probably the first time?

  • Bug:  Can't attach an image to a post during edit

Edited a post I had just made:
Opened a couple of blank lines.
    Hit the camera icon
    Hit the [Browse...] button
Selected the file and had its path appear in the Insert Image dialog field.
    Hit the [Insert Image] button.
    Got this failure:
I couldn't attach the image to this post either, even though it's an under-200K JPEG saved from Photoshop CS6 at quality 10.  Here's a link that will take you to a copy of the file:
    http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/temp/CloneAndPatternStamp.jpg
This is my second attempt to post this.  First time I typed in this post I got this message:
It's an interesting approach, making it particularly difficult to report bugs.
    -Noel

Just testing to see if I can insert an image initially in a post with the Advanced Editor...
    Seems to be possible.
Now an attempt to attach an image while editing, with IE9...
Hm, that succeeded, at least while editing.  Now an attempt to attach the same image that was giving me trouble before...
That succeeded interactively as well.  Now to hit [ Update ] to see if they actually show up...

  • Irritating UI "bugs" when renaming and deleting images

I have been using iPhoto for a couple of years now, and there are some minor glitches in the UI that simply frustrates the **** out of me in the new '08 version. Perhaps it's due to "wrong" usage, so please tell me if I can avoid them:
Firstly, I'm often viewing and comparing my images in fullscreen when cleaning up a large batch of vacation photos, but when I apple+backspc. to delete an image, it jumps to the start of the Event instead of showing me the image before/after the one I deleted - WHY!? This is only in fullscreen view - if I space-view it goes to the next picture as expected?
Secondly, there is apparently no shortcut for renaming an image, when viewing the thumbnails in an event or album. Numeric enter doesn't work (as ie. in iTunes), neither does (Windows) F2 or anything I could think of at least. Is there a shortcut that I just missed - please tell me!
This could seem rather minor, but my library counts 5800+ images, and I spend literally days in this program when I'm sorting new Events, so if these issues could be addressed either by an update or if I just need to know some little trick, I would be a much happier customer.
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
when I apple+backspc. to delete an image, it jumps to the start of the Event
Yes, that's a bug that's been reported before. Report it at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html as the more reports the more likely it will come to the attention of the developers.
As far as renaming or titling in the thumbnail mode, you have to first click on the title so the title field is activated. Then you can enter any title you'd like.
You can also batch title files by using the Photos->Batch Change->Title menu option. This will rename them all the same or add a sequential number to the end of the title.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Bug when adding a af:image into a ADS enabled table

This looks like a bug, but wanted to check with others to see if they had seen it.
Enable MDS with a column in a table
    For example:
    <af:table value="#{ContactCollectionBean}" var="row" id="t2" horizontalGridVisible="false" verticalGridVisible="false"
    width="300" columnStretching="column:c3">
    <af:column sortable="false" headerText="User Name" id="c2" width="100">
    <af:outputText value="#{row.displayName}" id="aot1"/>
    </af:column>
    <af:column sortable="false" headerText="Status" id="c3" noWrap="false" width="200">
    <af:outputText value="#{row.status}" id="aot2"/>
    </af:column>
All works fine (row.status gets updated when new events are pushed.
Now enter a af:image tag as a new column or as a new element in an existing column.
The value getting updated now changes to be the displayName. It looks like it gets confused by the af:image and on update does the column "one" to the left of the column it should...

    Hi,
the update of the table is by the index of the attribute. So if the image also is part of the row object then this should work

  • Unusual Bug when creating pdf from image files

Hi I have a very mindboggling problem which I cant seem to get my head around.
basically I am trying to create a pdf using a large amount of image files, these images are scans of pages of a book. so I have been trying to create a pdf file from these images, and everytime i try, it all looks ok except for one page which comes up smaller in size than the rest which is a big problem and very unusual. If I change the view of acrobat so that it shows two pages at a time then this is clearly visable where one page is normal and the page next to it is like a third of the size. Ive checked the image file properties for that page and they are more or less the same as the rest, the dimensions of the image file too, but when I add it into a PDF it seems to shrink in size, any ideas as to why? any help would be much appreciated! (and I hope what I said made sense lol )
    Thanks
    Nav

    Hi Davew000
Can you please tell the steps you are doing to create the PDF ?
    Thanks,

  • BUG: Indesign CC 2014 - significant image artifacts with 'export as JPG'

    Issue
Spreads exported from InDesign as maximum quality JPGs have heavy artifacts not present in PDF's with equivalent image compression settings.
    Steps
Export spread to JPG (max, baseline, 300ppi)
Export spread to PDF (image compression set to JPG, maximum)
Compare both files in Photoshop at 100%
    Results
Maximum quality JPGs are significantly artifacted.
    Expected Results
Maximum quality JPGs should be identical to PDF images with equivalent image compression settings (and should be virtually indistinguishable from original files sized equivalently in Photoshop (and saved via Photoshop's 'Save for Web').
    Please Note
I'm very familiar with the limitations of JPG's in pre-press work. Please trust that I have legitimate reasons for needing InDesign to export spreads as JPGs with the same image quality as is possible when exporting as a PDF (or using Photoshop's 'Save For Web' function with the source file sized identically as the spread in question.)
    Samples
exhibit A: spread exported as PDF (compression set to JPG, maximum quality)
exhibit B: spread exported as JPG (maximum quality)

    Rob,
Thank you for running your test!
Since posting (and just before reading your reply), I discovered an additional constraint on replicating the issue:
–it only appears when the linked image has been upscaled* (in my example, 107.1%)
*keep in mind, the PDF was upscaled to the same degree, ruling out it being solely an upscaling issue
–testing at 'even-magnification' scales (i.e. 150%) simply resulted in increased pixelation compared to the same PDF export (see samples below)
–testing at 'odd-magnification' scales (i.e. 101%) generated random artifacts (like those visible in the samples of my initial post)
–as such, this is likely more of a resampling/aliasing issue than jpg-artifacting.
That is, it would seem that upscaled images seem to enjoy a higher-quality resampling method when exported as PDFs.
I'd be curious to see how your test fared with upscaled images.
    samples
image scaled at 150%, exported as PDF (compression set to JPG, maximum quality)
image scaled at 150%, exported as JPG (maximum quality, anti-alias**)
**tested with & without anti-aliasing, results were identical

  • Bug: InDesign exports completely wrong images

    Hey,
when I export my EPUB, InDesign inserts wrong images into the HTML.
I have a multi-artboard Illustrator file that is placed in the document. Every chapter has an image in front of it, every image is an artboard in the .ai.
When I export to EPUB, some artboards are correctly inserted, while one repeats multiple times in a few chapters completely randomly. It has appear only once, but InDesign inserts it many times. What is happening there?
    Best regards
    Andre

    Hi,
Are you using Articles Panel for reading order? If yes, then I think same image must be present multiple times in your article though in InDesign document it must be appearing only once. If you are not using articles panel, let me know. Will try to figure out why this problem is happening.
    Regards,
    Pooja

  • BUG: LabView 2009 WebServer crash

Here is a simple VI containing no controls, functions or libraries in LabView 2009 f3.
    WebServer
settings are default. After Tools->Web Publishing Tool operation
from other PC we are connecting to this panel (IE6 for example) and
putting a finger to F5-button not raising it.
Web page with the VI is refreshing continiously.
    There are 3 results.
    1. In DevEnv: LabView die.
    2. In DevEnv: Need to restart LabView so WebServer reloads and connection restores.
    3. In App.exe: die
    4. In App.exe: LabView interpreter loose some while-cycles in case they exist but connection stored.
    5. In App.exe: connection lost but the application working good.

  • Bug: Gray Gamma 2.2 Images Appear Incorrectly in Screen Saver

I recently noticed that some images in my Apple TV screen saver were appearing distorted -- incorrectly cropped, shimmery, with vertical lines through them. I spent a fair bit of time trying to figure out what the images had in common when I realized they were all black-and-white. I did a Get Info on the images and they ALL used the Color Profile "Gray Gamma 2.2". Opening the images in Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, converting their color profile to sRGB (Image > Convert Color Profile > select sRGB option), and then saving them back out eliminated the problem once I forced the Apple TV to refresh its cache of images.
Hopefully Apple will realize this problem exists and do something about it -- I am posting it here for the benefit of anyone else who may run into this problem and can't figure out how to solve it.

"I recently noticed that some images in my Apple TV screen saver were appearing distorted -- incorrectly cropped, shimmery, with vertical lines through them. I am having the same problem with certain B&W images - most of these images are fairly old, i.e., 1950s on back.  The only info I can find regarding color is this - Get Info tells me the color space is gray.
Now, I can go back to the original photo source and re-download the photo and it displays just fine in Apple TV, whether slideshow or screen saver.  But, it's a lot of work to go back and do that.  Several hundred images worth of work.
