Bug walking around inside my monitor

When I first told my son, he thought I was referring to some type of s/w bug. Then I showed him a small gnat-sized insect roaming around the monitor behind the layer that the image is projected onto. I don't know much about the LCD technology or design, but I doubt insects have much to do with it.
Has anyone else seen or heard of a similar experience with the iMac monitors?
iMac 20"/2.16 GHz/2GB/250 GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I recently had a small insect on my screen. I thought it was on the outside of the screen, so smushed it. It was smushed inside the layers and now I have an ugly spot on my monitor. I took it to the local Apple store where I have a ProCare membership and had them perform an annual checkup, specifically mentioning the spot. They gave it back the next day saying they couldn't do anything about it. Believe me, I don't keep any food or any thing which would attract them any where near my computer - I'm very reverent about that. So what can I do? I'm about to take the 'puter apart and see if I can blow it out. Think the Apple guys gave up too soon. This spot on my bright screen sticks out like a sore thumb!!! Anyone taken theirs apart to try something like this?

  • Bug walking around inside monitor

    Don't know what to say about this. Looks like a gnat walking around inside. Can't take a screen shot of it. Hopefully it will fall to the bottom when it dies.

    My brand new iMac came with a Hair between the Glass and the LCD on the left down corner, I took to apple store and they clean it.
    Apple quality control is not that good nowadays, I heard several issues about this iMac27, and at least was not a dead pixel.
    A random hair and what you read on these forums isn't NOT indicative of the millions of machines Apple sells.

  • A bug is walking around inside my screen! Possible to clean?

    Yesterday I saw a bug walking around happy inside my 24". I got livid as I can do nothing about it but watching it crawling around inside.
    So, is there any way to clean this out? I've read posts stating the screen is possible to take of using some sucking device and pull it off (just like the iMac). Is it easy to put back in? Is this even true?
    I really can't live with this bug, even if it dies it will probably just stay there.
    And I thought it was air-tight.

    I have the same problem but more bugs.
    There is a type of fly in the uk that arrives with stormy weather. They are called 'Thunder flies' and are black, around 2 mm long by 0.2mm wide - do you know them? I have 3 of them walking around the inside of my 1 month old 24" screen. It is being collected tomorrow and then being cleaned and sent back to me. I have raised a concern regarding this problem if it happens outside warranty as I can see it happening again. At the moment is is not clear whether it is a seal problem (seal may have not been fitted correctly) or a design problem where there is an open path from the outside to the back of the screen.

  • Game: character walks around and stops walking when hits a hole

    Hi
    I have a game where the character walks around the screen and stops if she hits a wall or a hole etc... - typical. HOWEVER - I coudn't get her to stop walking. Is there any standard code for this. If you tell to stop walking then she can't walk back out either etc... Also, she walked into the hole a little so being in the hole she definately couldn't walk any more not even back out as she would be walking inside the prohibited zone.

    typically the character movieclip would play (to display walking animation) and the background or character would move (to convey the character's movement within the game).
    stopping the character's animation requires only a stop() applied to the character movieclip and stopping the character from moving requires some other movieclip be stopped or some tween stopped or some code adjusted.

  • BUG: CheckBox colum inside table (ADF 11.1.2.1)

    I find a bug using CheckBox inside table, this are steps to get the bug.
    1.Create a view object from database table.
    2.Create a where clause in view Object
    3.Create a parameter form (using where clause)
    4.Create a editable table with filter enable
    -- AFTER TEST, ALL WORK
    5. Convert inputText to af:selectBooleanCheckbox
    -- AFTER TEST GET THIS ERROR:
    1- FIlter adf tabla and data is ok.
    2- Apply a filter using parameter form and same time adf:table filter. (Data is not well.)
    As I say this happend only when i change my inputText to af:selectBooleanCheckbox.
    With inputText work well, with booleanCheacBox work bad..
    Someone know if this was fix in 11.1.2.2 ??

    My attribute is not boolean but I fix it in viewRowImplementation accesor:
      public String getProgramada() {
            String dbValue= (String) getAttributeInternal(PROGRAMADA);
            if("S".equals(dbValue))
                retreturn  "true";
            else
                return  "false";
    public void setProgramada(String value) {
            String valorSeleccionado = null;
            if("true".equals(value))
                valorSeleccionado = "S";
            else
                valorSeleccionado = "N";
            setAttributeInternal(PROGRAMADA, valorSeleccionado);
        }Seems that change was the problem.. this code work bat generate the BUG i post here.
    SOLUTION:
    1. Revert the viewRowImpl to default accesor.
    2. Modify page definition in tis way using idea from Vinay Agarwal

            <Item Value="S"/>
            <Item Value="N"/>
          </ValueList>
        </button>And everything Seems to work Well. Seems to be more easy than add code to accesors in viewRowImpl and work better.
    My checkbox value is get from tree component:

  • Is it okay to walk around with "MacBook"

    we just got wireless internet and my mom just walked back to my room and showed me a video on "you" "tube" & i was wondering if it hurts the laptop to be carried while its in use?
    and can i get some more tips on taking care of our new "macbook"
    thanks =)

    Its NOT a good idea to walk around with you Apple MB running IF you're walking down the halls of the Microsoft Campus. Hey, its not safe to drink coffee while using your MB also IF you are going to turn the cup upside down while it's over the keyboard.
    Otherwise, its a question of how safe you want to be. I've been walking around my home with every laptop I've ever owned without ANY problems. The only thing you have to be aware of is that you're getting "out on the edge" if you were to trip and end up toss the MB at the same time. ANYTIME I carry my MB and especially while it's running, I'm especially careful about where I'm stepping and other surrounding that might make me drop it if I were to bump into them.
    Life's too short to never take a teeny step out on the edge.
    Another thing to consider. Most laptops are built pretty sturdy. A few years ago I had an IBM Thinkpad that was a pretty good notebook, but like all of them, it came time to get a better one. So I advertised in on Craigslist, made a contact to sell and while I was waiting for the buyer to come over to pick it up, it fell off my kitchen counter and bounced on the hardwood floor. I figured it was toast, but I went ahead and turned it on and it booted right up. Not a ding one on it. I sold the computer with a 2 week guarantee and never heard from my buyer again so I assume there no damage that I didn't notice.
    So, live a little and carry it around when you want to share something with your family or friends and I doubt you'll ever have a problem.
    As far as the Apple warning about moving while the computer is on, that's their lawyer talk. Same as the warning about not using a hairdryer in the bathtub.

  • Hairline Crack appeared on Z1 from walking around!

    Hi, does anyone know if there is some fault with the Z1. I have a hairline crack that has appeared from walking around, sitting or something. It has not been dropped, or misused or anything like that. I'm having to pay for it to be repaired but I'm wondering if this is a fault on the handset due to it's nature of style.
    It's certainly put me off buying sony products again as I feel that having a phone in your pocket and the screen crackinging, is not accidental damage, but a fault on the handset (I'm sure others will disagree).
    Anyway, is this a common problem?

  • Iphone4 switches off everytime walk around with it in pocket

    Iphone4 switches it self off everytime I walk around with it in my pocket, and it's very difficult to switch back on again. Is this a common issue or a manufacturing error, I've taken it to my service provider already and they can't find the fault with it. Please help don't know what I should do. Also have loaded the latest software.

    As Alan said, an iPhone cannot self-power off unless the battery dies or there's a fault.
    Try fully discharging and then fully recharging your battery to recalibrate the battery meter.
    Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    Try restoring as new, i.e. without your backup.
    If none of those work, return it to wherever you bought it for diagnosis and possible replacement.

    None that I'm aware of. If it doesn't support it, it just doesn't.

  • Walk around in space

    Hi everybody,
    I make 3d models with away3d and import them into flash builder.
    I can rotate the models like this:
    public function update(e:Event):void
    // re-render viewport
        var cameraSpeed:Number = 0.3; // Approximately same speed as mouse movement.
        if (move)
                 cam.panAngle = cameraSpeed*(stage.mouseX - lastMouseX) + lastPanAngle;
                 cam.tiltAngle = cameraSpeed*(stage.mouseY - lastMouseY) + lastTiltAngle;
      cam.hover();
      view.render();
    private function MouseDown(event:MouseEvent):void
        lastPanAngle = cam.panAngle;
        lastTiltAngle = cam.tiltAngle;
        lastMouseX = stage.mouseX;
        lastMouseY = stage.mouseY;
        move = true;
    But now I would like to walk around in space (just as you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsOlw4iIj8E&feature=player_embedded)

  • There is a bug (yes, insect) crawling around INSIDE the glass of the monitor. Help?

    It's a tiny bug, but it's been there for three days now. It must be able to get in and out. I thought these monitors were air sealed!

    Trip to the Apple store would be the best idea. Attempting to open the screen and cleaning him out yourself may not be the best idea. Some of the displays do have a cover that's held in by magnets but if you're not certain how to take it off then the store is definitely the best option.

  • How to move the script around inside the page?

    Hello, I put script inside slideshow div but it's stuck on the header and I would like to know how to move it and center it in the page, can I put the script inside div tag?

    Sometimes javascript should run above the HTML it acts upon and sometimes it should run after. Although you can put the script within a div element, mixing up your HTML and your scripts is considered messy, but if you have a reason to to it you can.
    HTML is run sequentially, but (usually) javascript sits in memory until it is called. I think your problem is not the placement of your javascript, but the HTML around your slideshow.
    If the slideshow is "stuck on the header" then try putting <br style='clear:both'/> right before the div that contains the slideshow. If that doesn't help, show us more of the code involved.
