  • Bug when install JamPack under SnowLeopard

    Hi,
I'm installing JamPack (Rhythm Section... Voice...Symphony...). But at the end of the install process, an alert occur : "Title of the : an error occurs"
    Any idea ?

These jampack problems are new. You might also want to post in the snow leopard forum ans inform Apple.
I'm just curious about your Snow Leopard install. Some peole have been doing a clean install of leopard and having numerous problems. This is due to the fact that Snow Leopard should not be installed in a clean install. There is no clean install, you simply install it. A clean install of Snow Leopard will cause a lot of problems.
Also, any apps that ask you to install Rosetta go ahead and do that. Previous OSX versions installed it on your drive. Apple now offers the install from its web site and it is auto installed when you click OK to install. Afterword you won't know its running.

  • Error in writing to directory when installing

Hi, I encounter an error when installing Oracle 9.2.0.6 client on Window 2000 Professional machine. After I execute setup.exe about 3-5 secs, an error message is showed which displays "Error in writing to directory c:\docume~1\....\Temp\OraInstall2009-04-18_01_08_20PM. Please ensure that this directory is writable and has atleast 32MB of disk space.Installation can not continue.".
I tried a number of testings and am sure that the cause of this error is not like the surface desription of the message. The error is no reaseon triggerred by permission or disk space. In addition, the timing of the error happens is when the installation copy temp files to my OS temp directory. I have further googled much information and did some tries but still have no idea how to solve it. Can anyone give instrcution to solve this problem?
    Thank in advance.

I find a document describing the problem I have in installation. The reference is
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/showdoc?db=NOT&id=433612.1&blackframe=1.
It says 2 work-arounds for the problem.
    ----------Extraced from the doc----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As of 05-25-2007, this BUG is still unresolved. Two potential work-arounds exist:
    Workaround #1
    ============
Keep 9.2.0.5 (or greater) patchset staging area, and use the runInstaller from the 9.2.0.5 (or greater) patchset staging area.
    Workaround #2
    ============
To fix this in the $ORACLE_HOME, you can just edit the file $ORACLE_HOME/oui/oraparam.ini and update the value of the "JRE_LOCATION" with the actual value of <ORACLE_HOME>/jdk directory (upto and including the "jdk" directory).
About the first work-around, I don't know how to do. About the second one, I am confused, because the "$ORACLE_HOME/oui" path will be created after the installation is done. But I encounter error in installation. So, how can i edit the file "$ORACLE_HOME/oui/oraparam.ini."? In addition, I find oraparam.ini in the "disk1\install" path. And change the value of "JRE_LOCATION" to "C:\orahome\jdk" (My $ORACLE_HOME is "C:\orahome"). Howere, it doesn't work. I don't understand the meanings of the two work-arounds. Can anyone explain these to me or tell me where to get fruther information?
    Thank in advance.

  • Problem when installing Solaris 10

I've read that there is a post with the same problem I have, but I found no solution there.
So I made this tread, hoping someone willing to help me.
    OK, here is the story...
I have tried several times to install Solaris 10, from DVD to my laptop Dell Latitude C400.
(I've run the hardware compatibilty check routine, and it's OK except the video card)
After I made the partition, then rebooted using the DVD and the Solaris seems to load normally.
It apperas the Grub menu, then I choosed Solaris option.
But after that it just stops on a screen that says:
    SunOS Release 5.10 Version Generic_118844-26 32-bit
Copyright 1983-2005 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved.
Use is subject to license terms.
And it just hangs, nothing more...
Any idea what should I do to install Solaris successfully...???
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Darren,
Thanks God I've succesfully installed Solaris 10 to my laptop, after "swimming" for a while in google :)
It said that this was a bug of Solaris 10 when installed in PC with Pentium III or II processors.
Here is the solutions (hope someone with same problem with me could find it useful) :
    1. After the GRUB menu appears, edit the kernel line then append -kd at the end (to enter kmdb upon boot), then boot
    2. Then type this command when kmdb prompt shows, [0]>
    [0]> cmi_no_init/W1
[0]> :c 3. It should boot and run without problem, then follow the installation menu and option
    4. After reboot, again follow step 1 & 2 when GRUB menu shows. I promise this is the last time :)
    5. To make it permanent, add this following instruction to */etc/system* once the system up
    set cmi_no_init=1//Henry

  • MMS not working in iPhone4S when installing config profile with APN

When we use the iPhone Configuration Utility (either the latest version or previous versions) to create a config profile with APN info, then install the profile to an iPhone4S, we noticed that MMS (multimedia messaging) was no longer working. This means we could not send or receive MMS messages. And this is MMS going over the MMS protocol (and not iMessage). We had not seen this before. We routinely do config profiles with APN info and have done for all iPhone models and iOS version before the new iPhone4S. Never had a problem with MMS or anything else. This is for iPhone4S devices in the AT&T network. It is easy to reproduce and you don't need an enterprise APN for that. In fact just a config profile with AT&T's APN settings will still break MMS when installed (other than the MMS, everything else works fine).
It does not appear an iOS 5 issue. iPhone4 (or iPhone3GS) with iOS 5 do not have this problem. It appears to be tied to the new iPhone4S hardware. The same configuration profile (with the APN info) works fine on iPhone4 with iOS 5 (MMS works fine), but when you put the very same configuration profile to an iPhone4S, MMS quits working.
Doing a network reset does not solve the problem. Only removing the profile fixes the MMS
    Any ideas, explanations or workarounds?

I called the Apple care line, and eventually got to 4th tier support, where they declared that there must be an issue with the APN I'm using, regardless of the fact that none of the iPhone 3G, 3GS', and 4's in our office are experiencing this issue while using the same APN.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised about this, afterall who'd expect Apple to actually admit there's a "bug" in one of their products, especially since this is hapenning to a very small number of users on the 4S.  Getting to 4th tier support was free, but to be able to talk to someone who can actually investigate this issue will cost $700.
I offered to give them access to our private APN for testing, but they were "unable to do that sort of testing".  Additionally, we have tested using a public APN from AT&T (wap.cingular), and still experience the same issue.
Lastly,  I did some further digging, and I think it has something to do with PDP Context 2 not getting an IP address.  As a disclaimer, I have no clue what a PDP Context is, what it does, what it's for, but obviously MMS needs it.  Going into field test mode on the phone will allow you to see the PDP Contexts, and is where I got this info from.
On the iPhone 4S, without an APN profile installed, the PDP Contexts are listed 0-3.  These 4 contexts have values for an APN, and an IPv4 address, although context 0 and 2 are the only ones that have values in them.
When an APN profile isnt installed, MMS' can be sent, cellular internet doesn't work., the values are:
    Context 0
    IPv4:    ip is blank
APN:   phone (this is the default APN for the iphone 4s on att).
    Context 2
IPv4:     has a valid public IP address
    APN:     wap.cingular
When an APN profile is installed, MMS's can't be sent, but cellular internet does work, the values are:
    Context 0:
IPv4:     Valid public IP address is present
    APN:     Our enterprise APN
    Context 2:
    IPv4:     ip is  blank.
    APN:     wap.cingular
It appears that when Context 2 has an IP address, MMS' are able to be sent.  One other interesting fact, on the iPhone 4, only 1 PDP Context is listed, while the 4S has 4 listed.
Hopefully this issue will be resolved in the 5.1 update, as this update contains a baseband update for the 4S, updating it from 1.0.14 to 1.2.01-1.  Unfortunately I don't have access to a 5.1 beta, otherwise I'd test this my self.  If anyone has access to the beta, and wants to test APN profiles/MMS send status, we'd greatly appreciate it!

  • Problem when installing Solaris 7

Hi, I face a problem just the same as what Geraldin did, no-VTOC, except that I install from CD-ROM:
when I installed Solaris 7, I've got an error that it was unable to mount a root file: CD.
What is it? Am I need to delete all partitions using fdisk just like Geraldin, before installing Solaris?

  • Error 1305 when installing LabVIEW 7.1 app built with app builder

I have built an executable with installer from LabVIEW 7.1 app builder.  The app installs/works fine, however 1 user reported 'Error 1305' when installing the app from a DOS subset on a WinXP machine.  For example, a virtual drive is created using the DOS 'subst' command (see http://www.easydos.com/subst.html for more info), e.g. 'subst z: c:\temp'.  Now when running z:\setup.exe, the error 1305 is encountered.  If the same app is run from c:, e.g. 'c:\temp\setup.exe', it works fine.  Is this a bug in the installer, or in the OS...?

    Greetings,
This is an architectural issue with the Microsoft Windows Installer and Windows, and will occur with any MSI (not just those from the app builder).  Under XP, a MSI cannot install from OR install to a location created by the "subst" command.  My understanding of why is that installSequence runs in the context of the MSI engine, which is running as "system" user.  But the subst command is a per-user setting (local to your account) so the MSI engine doesn't see it.
The only workaround is to run the MSI from a non-subst drive, or instead use network file shares (you can simulate what "subst" does by mounting an exported file share from the same machine).

  • Problem when installing a standalone installation over AIX

    Hello for everyone.
I have performed successful standalone installations of BIP 10.1.3.4.1 on Windows and Linux enterprise systems in silent mode. But in AIX I have difficults!!
System administrator has created to me an user called "bip" with reading, writing and executing permissions. I want to install BIP by using this user; the process begins well but the following error is appearing to me:
"You do not have the necessary permissions to write to the inventory at /oracle/oraInventory. Please make sure that you have the appropriate permissions to perform the installation.
Error:*** Alert: You do not have the necessary permissions to write to the inventory at /oracle/oraInventory. Please make sure that you have the appropriate permissions to perform the installation. *** "
I remembered the installations I have performed in others OS, and I remember despite users have not permissions to access the /oracle/oraInventory folder, the installations were performed well.
Is there any bug when you try to install on AIX?
    Thanks for your help

I would recommend to open an SR with oracle support

  • Crash when installing Oracle9i on Windows

If you have a crash when installing oracle9i on Win 2000
(for example The instruction at "0x77fca30c" referenced memory blah blah blah), the problem could be your classpath.
Try the following in a command window:
cd Disk1 (or wherever you have unzipped oracle)
    set CLASSPATH=
    setup
I guess it is a bug in the installer. I didn't try to isolate it, my classpath is too big!

I just checked this again, at work, on my 2000 machine. I changed my locale to saudia arabia and that resulted in the alignment you mentioned earlier. I switched it back to its default english - united states and the alignment is no loner at the right.
In addition to that my nls_lang setting is :
    AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
Note though, that simply changing the locale did it for me, regardless of my nls_lang setting.

I am experiencing the same type of issue i have entered a bug report for Flash Player.
Upon pushing the vendor provided MSI via SCCM 2012, the uninstall of the older version 11.6.8.638 which is pushed enterprise wide, is removed from the machine, but the installation of the new 12.0.0.112 is not actually installing.  The log file that was on the machine from the command line we use shows this error:

I didn't have any installation issue on Windows XP 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit.
You didn't say anything about your OS, btw.
And that swhelper_1159620.exe is a legacy (it's not related to the previous v11.6 or the current v12 installations).
For future, to get rid of installation issues, use the UNinstaller first of all:

  • Cumbersome bug when launching Fireworks Creative Cloud

    Hi,
I have one year suscription of Creative Cloud and just few weeks since I started using it I found a cumbersome bug when launching Fireworks. The problem:
Note: I'm on latest Mac OSX Lion 10.8.5 (but 10.8.4 has the same problem, I think even 10.8.3).
When launching Fireworks, it never gets up and running. I had to search in google and see that other people having the same problem, and after spending lot of time I get a workaround:
You have to go to Library -> Preferences and remove "Macromedia" folder. Then you can launch Fireworks and will run ok.
So I would want to ask here if there's something I can do to avoid to do this over and over each time the Macromedia folder is regenerated. If not, could we get a patch for Fireworks that fixes this annoying problem?
    Thanks

    Thanks Abhijit.
When you install CC apps using Creative Cloud, it creates shortcut in the Start menu.
I've already done that, but there seems to be nothing in my Creative Cloud Desktop that allows me to activate the program I wish. It just tells me what is installed, CC programs and what has ben updated.
If you are not able to to find photoshop CC icon in the start menu, please go to to ....
As I previously mentioned, I've done that but there is no Photoshop.exe in my Photoshop CC file.
Might it be that I've downloaded Creative Cloud from the Japanese Adobe site, I'm in Japan? Having lived in Japan for 20 years and knowing how ethnocentric this place is, to the point of them making it difficult to buy or use anything which isn't Japanese and would otherwise weaken the mercantilist ethos of the place.
I hope not, but..... both your solutions are not enabling me to activate ant CC program.
    Thanks.

  • Anyone have Bugs since installing IOS 8?

Anyone having bugs after installing IOS 8?

Oh yes.  iOS 8.x seems to be incompatible with accessing 2 of our 3 intranet sites.  We have an iPhone 6, iPhone 5 (upgraded to iOS 8) and a 4th Gen iPad (also upgraded).  One of the sites is a java application, the other is SharePoint.  The funny thing is we can access these sites from "outside" the firewall.  Though, the device asks for the credentials twice.
Also, the iPhone 6 has problems syncing photos.  There are 5k+ photos my boss is trying to sync.  iTunes shows it as syncing just fine.  However, when viewing the photos on the phone, many of the thumbnails are blank.  If you tap the photo, it briefly shows the photo, then it disappears with a message saying that its downloading the file, but it never downloads.
