Bug Windows 8.1 upgrade from Windows 8 - Parental Control - Shift in Caldendar

Hi,
since I have upgraded the PC of my son from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1,
I have discovered a bug regarding the parental control features.
Everything was working fine in Windows 8.
In Windows 8.1, the software has a shift regarding the settings for opening hours.
For instance if we are Monday, it will apply the settings of Tuesday.
The clock and calendar is obviously properly set
Is anyone has seen the same issue ?
any fix ?

Hi,
PLease check if your PC region is consistent with the real region.
Then recreate the child account for test.
If it works, please re-apply these settings.

Accessing Itunes store thru windows Vista parental controls

Hello, This my first time posting a messsage. Lately ITunes 7.5.20 will not let my kids go to ITunes store. It tells me the check my internet connection. Mu connectoion is just fine. I run the diagnostics from the Itunes pulldown menu and it passes as well. If I Turn off the parental controls then it works again. Is anyone else having this issue. Is there a way to fix this?

Can't connect to iTunes store with Windows Vista parental controls on

I am unable to connect to the iTunes store when I have Windows Vista parental controls turned on. It will just sit there saying "Accessing iTunes store...". Or sometimes I can connect, but it's very slow. If I knew the iTunes store URL, I could add it to the allow list. HELP!!

When Vista Parental control is On - It is not possible on my daughter's account to access Itunes Store.
No problem to launch itunes .... but no access to itunes store.
I have no restriction in the parental control about application. I authorised in the web list what I found on some forums ... I authorised in internet settings also these sites .... Still impossible to access ...
If I turn off parental control ... No problem it works but I don't want to disable this functiun ...

Youtube Safety Mode will turn on if Windows Parental Controls are enabled.
If I disable parental controls, safety mode safety mode will turn itself off. But if parental controls are re-enabled, safety mode will turn itself on. If I then try to turn it off manually, it says that it's been disabled, but it still stays on.
The only parental control that's enabled is the time limits. There are no other restrictions enabled. There is no other filtering software installed. It is doing this on three separate machines.
This is a problem specific to Firefox. Chrome and Internet Explorer do not exhibit this behavior. For the moment, they are using Chrome, as I do not wish to turn off parental controls.
This is recent behavior, within the last week or so. Prior to this, it didn't have any problems at all. I don't have an exact date when it started, but it sounds like it was one of the last few upgrades.
Is there a configuration setting to tell Firefox to not look at parental controls?

command/control+shift+A? Can't seem to find that shortcut listed anywhere. What is the name of the window it launches?

That is the Camera Raw filter. You can find it under Fliters>Camera Raw Filter..

Windows Vista Parental Controls Preventing Connection to iTunes Store?

I really have two questions, one of which I think I have resolved but would like to find a more elegant way of handling. Let's tackle that first, after I provide some background.
I have been "managing" the contents of my son's iPod using my computer. Now that he has his own computer it should be up to him. I have two users established on his computer, with me as administrator. I have set up parental controls and am specifiying the websites he can access. I used an external hard drive to copy all his music files to his computer, putting them in a folder under his user name.
When he tries to play music copied from CD's or purchased from iTunes using my computer, a message pops up that says "The song <song name> could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" Absent a way to locate all such songs simultaneously, I click on the yes button and scroll through the list of songs until I find the one desired. Is there a better way, or are he and I going to have do repeat this hundreds of times? I think this needs to be resolved before he tries to sync his iPod with his computer. Correct?
The second problem crops up when he tries to purchase songs from iTunes. The error message reads "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occured (-9808). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later." Apple.com is one of the sites he is allowed to visit, and there is no mention of parental controls or filtering (normally when that happens I am allowed to override with my password). Also, the computer has been authorized. Has anyone experienced anything like this or know what the workaround is? Does it have to do with parental controls, or is it something else?

I have a few things to offer that may make things a bit easier. You mention the library or music content is on an External HD and you copied it to his PC. Is the Hard Data aka the songs themselves still on the computer in a folder?
If so. Delete the songs in iTunes, Select 1 song, then Edit Select All, and Delete from Library. Now go to iTunes - Edit - Preferences- Advanced Tab
-Put a check mark in Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized, Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to the library. Thus whenever songs get added into iTunes a hard copy will be copied into the iTunes music directory stored in
Music - iTunes - iTunes Music.
-Now exit out of Preferences, Go to File - Add Folder to Library - (assuming all the songs from the HD are in 1 massive folder) and browse for this folder. iTunes will scan it, add it into iTunes, and then copy a hard digital copy into the Music-iTunes-iTunes Music folder. You can go confirm the files are there by visiting the folder. The file size of the iTunes folder should grow as you add more and more music.

Secured Site from a managed (parental control) user

I hope someone has a fix for this. I just bought this iMac for my daughter. I have parental controls on and now she can not visit any secured sites. Apple - There has to be a way for her to enter her secured sites (there are a lot of sites for kids that require a secure log in), but still have her on a managed account with parental controls on.
Please tell me there is a fix for this. I see a lot of questions like this but I have not seen Apple respond.

For what it's worth, I took your advice and posted the following on the Feedback page. Perhaps others can provide similar advice to the Apple OS management folks, though I do wonder if these ever see the light of day. Will post back anything I hear...
A number of folks have posted comments on multiple threads in the discussion groups about the inability for accounts with Parental Controls turned on to access the iTunes Store. (I have not posted an additional request/comment/complaint, since there are plenty already posted, and my addition won't help anything, though I have also experienced the problem.)
But my biggest problem is the obvious lack of any feedback from Apple on this. The only folks who have received any response at all on the issue have heard that "Apple is monitoring the issue." What the heck is that? Is there a forum somewhere where we can see and understand what you are working on? When we might expect some help? I just took the plunge and upgraded to 10.5, and now I'm wondering if I can go backwards somehow. This issue is that big for many of us with kids, most of whom own Macs because they are better all around machines for our kids. But as one poster put it, kids and the iTunes store just sort of go together, and this seems to demonstrate a significant lack of either understanding or concern on the part of the Apple OS developers. Or at the very least, a surprising lack of concern for the importance of communication with your otherwise loyal fan base.
Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

I've used Firefox for many years, I really like it and have been readily recommending it to others.
However after finally upgrading to 35.0.1 from 34.x I now have a very annoying and time-consuming issue.
So much so that I'm thinking of attempting a downgrade!
I didn't really want to upgrade but Firefox kept bothering me and I inadvertently accepted. Is there a way to switch this upgrade reminder off?
Anyway, previously I would Ctrl-click a link and it would open a new tab but not jump to it. It would remain unloaded until I clicked it. Then it would load as normal.
After the upgrade, I Ctrl-click a link and it still opens a new unloaded tab. So far, so good. Now however, when I click the new unloaded tab, it just sits there and does nothing. I have to click the URL in the address bar and either press <Enter> or click the 'Go' arrow.
I use this feature sometimes 100s of times a day so this is extremely annoying as it adds considerable time and extra clicks to each new link I click.
I'm wondering if it could be a problem with one of my plugins. Can I temporarily disable them all at once to see if that's it?
I will try disabling the tab related plugins.
I've tried toggling 'Don't load tabs until selected' on the Tabs page from Tools menu, Options.
Any help would be thoroughly appreciated as I would like to return to being a Firefox Fan

It is unlikely this issue is to do with Firefox upgrading. Firefox 36 will come out any day soon you should then be on that rather than considering an outdated Firefox 34 which is now not secure, and not supported.

You have not listed your plugins, and Yes you could try using Firefox's add-on manager to make sure they are all set as click to activate or even temporarily set as never activate.
I am not familiar with the add-on

That certainly may be part of the problem try deactivating that with Firefox's addon manager. For all I know this may be the intended behaviour of that addon.
Also troubleshoot the issue with Firefox's safe mode, remembering that does NOT disable plugins you will still need to do that manually.

With our Windows 8.1 systems, the things I noticed as improvements over Windows 7 were:Faster shutdown without frequent hanging apps preventing and delaying PC shutdown and reboot.Better Windows Update experience.Better/faster file transfer/copy with much less issues of slow and failed file copies of large folders and long paths.Desktop search works better/faster.Hyper-V built into the OS can be useful for some people, but may need to be blocked to not facilitate rogue unmanaged VMs on the network.Bitlocker included in Windows 8.1 Pro, but requires Enterprise in Windows 7.May be more stable with in general.
That's all I noticed and can think of off hand.I assume Windows 10 will have at least all the same benefits of Windows 8, but with a more familiar Start Menu. Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 would require paying for new...

Can't print from IE 8 after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7

My laptop (HP Elitebook 8530w) uses two HP printers: Color LaserJet CP3525x (at work) and Deskjet 6940 (at home). Both printers are accessed across a local network.
I recently upgraded from Vista Enterprise to Windows 7 Enterprise.
Everything still prints fine (from Word, Adobe Reader, Windows Photo Viewer, etc.), except for IE 8! When I try to print a web page from IE, it prints only the page header, and otherwise the sheet is empty. This symptom occurs on both printers. (And of course this worked fine before the upgrade.)
Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

If anyone else is having this problem, I found the solution on another forum (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/920588e5-ccc4-4e24-83d6-606...).
Specifically, the following steps solved the problem:
1. If it doesn't already exist, create a directory named "Low" in your directory "C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\".
2. From a command prompt, issue this command: ICACLS C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\Low /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low

Upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion erase my Windows partition?

I know some one might have asked it but I just wanna re-confirm.
Would the upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion erase my Windows partition? I am currently using Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro (Late 2010 Version) and I do not have parallel desktop. I asked the same question when Lion was released, but HK Apple Store said YES and Melbourne Apple Store said no. I am a bit confused now.

Windows 7 no longer boots after upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion

I got a late 2011 MacBook Pro, on which I installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp. After I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion, I can no longer boot Windows. If I keep the option button pressed during boot I only get the OS X and recovery options, and if I choose to boot Windows from the system preferences pane, I get a message that says that no bootable device was found. However, I'm sure that the partition is still there, because I can see it in finder and browse the files normally. How can I boot Windows again?

"Easier" in this case as an alternative is defined as repartitioning/reformatting your disk, and restoring from backups (which for most people also means starting from scratch with Boot Camp Assistant and Windows since most users aren't backing that environment up).
What you did is, in my opinion, easier and faster. But if you don't know what you're doing can lead to data loss. But then, by definition, blowing away your disk and starting over with a restored backup begins with data loss!

Do not know about 5, but, just installed PE 6 on I7 64 bit and it works.
