Bug with keyboard combo AltGr + Key

Hello,
Here is my keyboard layout (swiss keyboard).
When I press Alt Gr + the key just left of backspace, story does not produce any sign AND does not respond to any other subsequent key stroke. I have to close the tab (I use latest Firefox) AND Firefox, then start all over again to be able to continue editing the document.
Is that a desired behavior?

There is a solution?
You could make a custom layout with the Ukelele tool which has the dot where you want it.

    Here is the kicker!  In addition, I purchased a logitech solar bluetooth keyboard and the arrows work fine with my ipad but do not work when paired with the macbook pro. All other keys work fine on the macbook pro using the bluetooth keyboard.
    I believe this says that the problem is not in my macbook pro keyboard. So where can it be?
    Can anyone think of any other rabbit holes I can search?

    I would also like to add that I've reverted the two cd drive and hard drive mods I did and the laptop is back to factory hardware and there is 0 corrosion or mold visible.

    Huh.. Interesting. I went back to check these proceedures and found there is a difference between using the return key or the space bar as the action command.
    tabbing the blue ring moves the selection and then spacebar takes that action. The return key takes action of only the blue collored button.

  • Problem with Keyboard function keys.

    Hey guys, let me start by saying I'm not a novice when it comes to computers, I'll be able to understand most of what you guys say here. My function keys are working perfectly fine... when I hold fn with F10 or any other button with controls it will move the desktop away in a quick and timely manner. However, if I try to use the key with just the speaker function it does not respond until MUCH later if at all.
    I have been having numerous headaches with Lion. This issue did not arise previously with Snow Leopard. Keyboard Setup Assistant also appears at bootup although I have nothing plugged in what-so-ever. Couple of things I've tried (I've found many threads about this and this seems to be the answer that is commonly given, but doesn't work for most of these people):
    1) I reset my PRAM a few times.
    2) I tried it with the Use function keys button checked and unchecked. This is happening straight from a fresh install.
    3) I deleted preferences and had them remade.
    This goes for Brightness, Keyboard Brightness, Dashboard, volume and track controls. Thanks for your help...

    Without knowing which verison of OS X is installed it's difficult to say what you have done. However in ML open System Preferences - Keyboard - uncheck Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys

  • Volume control keys not functioning. PC model: s5268hk, with keyboard model: KG-0851

    I am using a desktop slimline model: s5268hk, with keyboard model: KG-0851. I don't remember what program I installed that caused the trouble but anyway, right now- it is not functioning like the usual. I re-installed the driver from HP support yet nothing has changed.  I appreciate any advice you can provide, thanks to everyone in advance! 

    You may have to go back to a known good system restore point.
    Right mouse click on my Computer, select properties, then advanced system setting then restore.  When you get to the restore window, check the box to show all available restore points and pick a date where your know when your PC worked correctly.
    If you are using a Norton AV product then turn off "tamper protection" before you attempt a restore or it will fail.

  • AltGr key not working after upgrade to Xorg 7.3

    So, I upgraded to Xorg 7.3, and everything seemingly worked fine.
    Then I tried writing an e-mail address, and pressing AltGr+2 which should give me an (at) symbol didn't work. After fiddling about abit, I concluded that  AltGr did not work at all.
    I tried the suggested solutions in the wiki, but none worked for me. I also tried setting Option "XkvVariant "nodeadkeys", but no luck there either.
    Here's the keyboard section of my xorg.conf:

    As you may have noticed, I have a norwegian keyboard. And if it helps, it's a laptop keyboard - I have a HP nc8430.

    It seems the problem has resolved itself. I did a pacman -Syu today, and although only libsamplerate was upgraded, my AltGr key functions properly again. Kind of weird, as libsamplerate seems to have something to do with audio.. But hey, it works, and I'm not complaining.

  • Problem with keyboard

    when typing the keyboard sometimes repeats keys.
    I also tried to channge (note the error in the previous word) the keyboard setup (repetition speed and initial delay) but it dooesn't (note again) affect the problem.
    is someone of you aware of some other setup I can operate?

    I have studied this problem now extensively and found the following:
    1) The problem is not in my iMac only but exists also in other iMacs. I tested several of them on display at one Finnish Apple reseller and found machines the problem was even worse. Therefore, the Apple keyboard replacement does not help.
    2) The problem is related to key response and individual typing style.
    3) Every key has a mass and a return spring. Therefore, a key is a vibrating system unless there is enough damping to kill the vibrations. Apparently Apple keyboard keys can vibrate 2..3 times with certain typing styles causing several characters to appear on the screen with one LIGHT hit on the key.
    4) Therefore, this problem could be solved if Apple (or clever hackers anywhere by using the Terminal) would write a code which would install a few millisecond delay until a new hit on the same key is accepted. There is a maximum rate humans can repeatedly hit one key, say every 0.1 second or 100 milliseconds. The possible vibrations are much faster and therefore a delay of, say 50 milliseconds, would effectively kill the effects of any vibrations but would not affect the typing in anyway.
    5) This problem is a bug in Apple products and should be fixed with a Keyboard software update.
    6) The problem can be solved by purchasing a Mac compatible Logitech keyboard. I tested several of them and none had the problem described here. Apparently Logitech keyboards have a different key response and damping characteristics and the problem does not appear.

  • [SOLVED] AltGr key suddenly isn't AltGr anymore

    My AltGr key all of a sudden seems to have changed into a normal Alt key, so I'm unable to produce a couple of characters. Any idea what's going on? Apart from a "sudo pacman -Syu" I didn't do anything regarding any configuration or system things.
    My keyboard layout in Xfce 'Settings' dialogue is also still the same as always, I just checked that.
    (Well and pressing CTRL+ALT together to "emulate" ALT+GR doesn't work either.)
    If I press ALT+CTRL+F1 to switch to a virtual terminal, there AltGr key actually works fine in there! So it's just under Xfce apparently (and in the login screen too).

    Try (re)setting your keyboard layout with the following command. Replace "be" with whatever your desired layout is. List is normally found in /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/xorg.lst)
    setxkbmap be
    If that indeed solves your problem, you can then put the following in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf (again replace "be" with whatever your desired layout is obviously).
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "evdev keyboard catchall"
    MatchIsKeyboard "on"
    MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
    Driver "evdev"
    Option "XkbLayout" "be"

  • Strange things with keyboard

    strange things with keyboard happens on my macbook - after cleaning keyboard (rag with spirit) I start mac and get sticky key (continuously type one letter and beeping on speaker). I shutdown mac, remove key and clean space under it... it helps - but I found other strange bug:
    pressing left shift - gives me capital letter "O"
    letter "O" - always capitalized
    | symbol always comes with return button
    now I use external keyboard - all good on it... but macbook keyboard still wont work properly
    what can it be? how fix it?

    thanks for your reply, and you might be right about using USB v2.0. The PS/2-USB adapters I am using are v.1.0 so may be incompatible, even though this technology is supposed to be backward-compatable.
    Since this problem reared its ugly head, I have disabled the Toshiba applications and monitored the situation - OK so far, but I will keep an eye on it.

  • Mail app bug with jumping to new line below signature

    Since day one of using Lion i have this incredibly annoying bug with Mail application.
    I have a formated signature in all my emails. Sometimes when I am composing a mail (or rather replying for one) and when I hit RETURN on keyboard, cursor moves BELOW signature and inserts new line below signature - not in place when it was when I hit RETURN.
    The same is when I have cursor in middle of my message and hit enter. Nothing happens - text ater place when cursor was when I hit enter is staying where it was but cursor moves below signature and enters new line in there.
    Anyone has solution for this?

    i am going to buy a bluetooth mouse plus keyboard combo.

    would this thing work with the integrated imac bluetooth adapter? would all of the F-keys work?

    Would it be possible to jump with keyboard trough selected items, with Indesign.

    It would have been a great feature request, if only it wasn't already there. I'm seeing those shortcut keys for the first time (and good luck remembering them!) but as usual you can assign your own combo's to these functions using the Keyboard Shortcut Editor.

    hello guys
    i have this really annoying bug with control center
    when you open, for example sms app, the keyboard shows, and you want to pull CC up.
    just do it slowly and you'll see how your finger is typing smth like " bgt", ios for some reason isn't blocking keyboard when i'm trying to use control center
    when you'll it fast, there is 100% chance to type space or one extra letter
    i think people can accept such kind of bug on galaxy phones, but not on iphone.
    is there something that i can do to fix this?

    Keyboard clicks don't register unless you lift your finger when it's on a key; while the fact that you are dragging your fingers over the letters when swiping up for Control Center causes keyboard keys to be pressed is certainly annoying and admittedly kind of dumb, it shouldn't result in any letters getting actually typed. I just tried this myself, and although I do manage to "hit" a key on each row of the keyboard, they keys themselves never register with the Messaging app because my finger doesn't lift until the end of the swipe to bring Control Center up.
