Bug with swc folders and library projects?
Hi guys, hope someone can help here. We are just in the
process of starting a fairly large flex project and we were trying
to work out a solution so that I as a designer can view and edit
custom components with visual styles applied.
Now I know that you aren't meant to add a style tag into the
component but it was working for me and I could at least preview
the styles in 'design mode'.
The problem arises though when you have a large project with
shared assets across projects. I had 3 projects set up in my
workspace:
Project 1: Library project with css files, swc and graphics
Project 2: Library project with components for Project 3
Application
Project 3: Application project
What I did was to add a external source folder to Project 2
& 3 both of which was Project 1. So far so good, the css loaded
into my application from Project 1 and I could view my styles in my
custom componants in Project 2
But, I needed to add swc files for custom buttons etc in my
application. So, I thought I would just add an swc folder source to
my build path in both my Project 2 & 3 which referenced an swc
folder in Project 1. Well, it did work and I could view everything
fine but (and here is the main problem) this corrupts the
workspace. Once Flex has closed and tries to reopen my workspace it
hangs, same if I change workspace in Flex from another workspace to
this one.
Can anyone help? Is this a flex bug?
TIA
Steve

I have a Macbook Pro running Leopard 10.5.8. I had a problem with my my operating system (my fault, I moved a file I shoudnt have) couldnt boot up but was able to boot up from a backup. I managed to repair my original system except now all the system folders, including hidden folders are littered with duplicate folders and files with the suffix (from old Mac). For the most part the dupes are an exact copy, but not always. I want to remove them to free up space and cant imagine duplicate folders in the /system/library are not hindering my computer. But I dont know where to start and am afraid of doing irreparable damage. Any ideas

Exporting a library with its folders and albums
I scanned over 1700 slides into my aperture library. AFter spending a considerable amount of time putting them into folders and albums, I would like to export the project so my husband can put it into his aperture library. I exported the whole project onto my desktop so I could put it in dropbox to enable him to put it into his computer. However, when I exported the library, It came across as just one big library of photos, with no structure. I don't care to reorganize the photos into folders and albums again, as it would be very time consuming. Is there any way to export the library and keep its structure?
Thanks in advance
NancyNancy,
what is your Aperture version, and how did you export?
In the current Aperture version 3.4.5 all projects and albums should be preserved, when you export a library with "File > Export > Projects/Albums/Items as new library"
For example, I selected two albums in the library Inspector simultaniously, made sure, that I only selected the albums in the panel, but not single images within the albums, and then used the command "File > Export > Albums as new library".
The exported library had the two albums, as well as all projects and folders necessary to fill he albums.
Did you perhaps only select one big project of scanned images? Then try again by selecting the albums you want to export. My two albums exported like this: You see, the exported library has quite a few folders with projects inside, as well as my two albums:

Imovie '09 v8.0.5 bugs with speed change and titles
OK so here is what I'm experiencing.
I take a clip and change the speed. Then I add transition from the previous clip to this one and all of a sudden I cannot play the video again. I can't delete the slowed down clip even. I can play video that is in the events library, but not that in my project. When I do mouse over the beginning of my video and play I can hear the sound but it is like it is far off in the distance and the video is just solid gray. I have run into many other similar bugs when changing the speed of a clip but could always delete the clip, quit, relaunch, and try again. With this problem I added a transition and can't even delete the clip. Apple please address this issue. Thanks!I am having the exact same issue. Change the speed of a clip in the project, then the ongoing video screen no longer displays the project correctly (but does display when playing clips from the library). This happened recently as I've made several older projects on iMovie 09 using multiple speeds. Perhaps a bug with the 8.0.5 update.

Has anyone seen this BUG with Time Warp and Dissolve?
I'm doing some real basic slow-mo clips, transitioning with various dissolve wipes. I've come across a problem that is extreemly frustrating! I'm wondering if anyone has insight on a fix or if Adobe does service packs or fixes that I might be able to install.
If you put two clips adjacent to each other on a timeline, apply time warp, set percentage to say 30% of realtime, then apply a dissolve between the clips, clip B, the outclip will play in reverse for a period equal to about 1/3 of the duration of the clip.
This is true scrubbing through the timeline and even rendering.
VERY ANNOYING!
I'm going to call support tomorrow, but that's not going to help me get my project finished any sooner since this is a critical element in this composition. I've tried the time remapping method, but the frame-blend is no match for the pixel motion of time warp.Steve,
I think your post #11 was being sarcastic, but you left a little wiggle room for it not to be. With the sarcastic interpretation, I must add my thoughts:
Here is the link to the Adobe bug report form
. It is important that users who discover bugs with reproducible steps file them - otherwise they don't stand a chance of ever getting fixed. Steven Gotz's advice was sound in this regard.
As to the discussion of workarounds - since this is a User-to-User forum, the best that we as a community can do is help each other out with workarounds, since none of us here have the power to actually fix anything.
The important thing to glean from SG's post is the definite need to file a bug report. -
I have taken over someone else job so have two email accounts on my Entourage - as the past account had all the folders and past emails when I sync my mail onto my iphone I can not see the folders and any past emails. How can I sync all of her old mail account info (emails and folders) to my email account to make ONE email account?!

I thought that originally too, but that's all changed with the pool of apps that are out there now. So now what I'm trying to do is to prove that technology is progressing to the point where a tiny, handheld phone can produce images that are nearly as good as photos taken with much more expensive and bulky equipment. I've got my share of expensive bulky camera equipment, but I'm finding that I'm having much more enjoyment out of using my iPhone from initial capture, to editing, to publishing, and achieving results that are nearly as good.
I do think you're working under a bit of a handicap. For example, lens quality. Here's an iPhone photo example of some wild turkeys in the neighborhood masked by flare that would be much better controlled on an SLR lens (click to enlarge - the flare is obvious, the turkeys are not):
At the same time, working under a handicap can definitely spur creativity, similar to the oft-cited example of swapping out your zoom lens for a prime to force yourself to pay attention to composition.
It's an interesting concept - I wish you luck! -
Possible bug with Pick flag and Collections
Odd behaviours in v3.3 (Windows) with pick flags in Collections:
Create (or use) a Collection Set which contains a number of different collections
Assign Pick plag to one photo in each collection
Bug 1: Highlight Collection Set and note that none of the images shows the Pick Flag in the thumbnail view. Also Filtering this view with Pick flag fails to pick up the Flagged images
Now return to one of the Collections within the Set and create a Virtual Copy of one of the images that has a Pick flag. (Note virtual copy does not have a flag - which seems logical). Return to Collection Set and (Bug 2) note that Pick flag has disappeared from original image and now appears on Virtual copy.
Something wrong here somewhere I suspect.lightshop wrote:

I could partially repeat bug 2.
I have Collection Set (Test) which contain to collections: "Collection 1" and "Collection 2". Both Collections contain 4 images.
I selected "Collection 1" and applied Pick flag to all those images. When I select Test (Collection Set) I got 8 images shown, which none had flags. Ok, this works as expected. I selected "Collection 1" and then selected 1 image and made Virtual copy from it. Lr show me now 4 images with Flag and 1 virtual copy without. Again, works as expected. I now select Test (Collection Set) and I get 9 images (as expected), but one of them, the virtual copy, has pick flag applied. Not as expected. If I go back to "Collection 1" I get four images with Pick flags and one virtual copy without. (as expected.) -

App with hierarchal folders and subfolder
My Palm finally has died and I'm moving to an iPod Touch for maintaining a veterinary database at the tip of my fingers.
I am looking for an application that organizes folders and subfolders in a hierarchal format. HiNote did the job on my now dead and extremely well used Palm.
I prefer a non-free application. I saw the one by SOHO but it has too many bells and whitles for my purposes.
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
macdvmLook at GoodReader. I have it on my iPad and it is great. Yu need to purchas the iPod/iPhone version, there are two.

Git, Main project and library project
I use git for version control, eclipse+flex builder for flex development.
I created a library prject 'core' and a main project 'base' which uses 'core'.
so my question is, how can I manage the 2 projects with Git, whena new developer check out 'base', it will also check out 'core' automatically, and references 'core' in 'base'
thanks in advanceSounds like a bug. However, I would recommend that you don't import all 8,000 images into a single project. Assuming each of your folders represents a shoot I would make a project for each one.
This is because you can import/export projects and you might want to export one for DVD backup. An 8,000 image project probably won't fit on a DVD if you're shooting with raw files. Also, this should make it cleaner to import projects captured on another computer (like a laptop).
I initially imported all my images into a single project, but eventually moved images into many small projects. You can always rearrange things from within the UI after the fact. -
Bug with Show Whitespace and tab and space characters in SQL comments
If Preferences > Code Editor > Display > Show Whitespace Characters is checked, and I type the following in SQL Worksheet:
--A[tab]B[space]C
It renders with two spaces between B and C. The first one is a blank space without the light dot character used to signify a space character, and the second space is filled with the dot character. The caret is then blinking before the C instead of after it:
--A[tab]B[space][dot][|]C
Further selection actions and editing in the region produce "corrupted" results. I've tried changing fonts, but there was no change to the behavior. Multiple tabs before the B produce multiple blank spaces immediately after it, and when placed at the end of the line the caret is then shown another space to the left of the C:
--A[tab][tab]B[space][space][|][dot]C
If I turn off Show Whitespace Characters the rendering immediately corrects, and caret placement, selection action, and editing behaviors all work as expected.
This is observed on OS X with both the Mac OS X and Oracle/Fusion Blue look and feels.

With normal mode, the query is stored in an XML attribute.
With expert mode, it's stored in a CDATA Section, which allows it to respect all user-spacing and newlines.
XML attribute values are forced by the XML 1.0 spec to be normalized, and this is done by the parser when they are read in. That might account for your different in space treatment. -
Dealing with image duplicates and duplicated projects, albums & foldersies; repeated
I'm a relative new user of Aperture and need help on several recent issues:
(1) Reimported Images. Over the last couple of months, Aperture has been re-importing images previously imported (despite my having selected the no duplicates button). I store all new imports in the Aperture library.
I haven't set up any vaults yet, however I have an external hard-drive to which my entire mac is backed up daily, especially my images. Doubt this is relevant but wanted to mention it, in case.
I now have multiple duplicates scattered throughout the photos file, most often each with a different file name (the img #). Of course the Find function doesn't seem to have an option to search for duplicates. Can't see that option elsewhere. Maybe I'm overlooking it?
When I come across duplicates, I'd like to delete the extras, but am afraid of deleting 'the' Master.
I've tried to find a path to direct me to the master, but searches in the forum seem to say that's not possible or desirable.
Should I just arbitrarily delete several of the extras to cut down on this duplication?
In addition, while organizing my photos and projects into a series of subject categories, I noticed all of a sudden that a portion of the project list was duplicated folder for folder, project for project and album for album. I have tried unsuccessfly to consolidate the contents of duplicate folders or projects, but Aperture won't permit that. I've also tried deleting one of the series of duplicates, only to find all affected files were deleted -- the ones I intended to save and the ones I was trying to delete.
How and why does this happen? And how do I remedy the problem?
Thanks for any help you can offer.I think you should give Repair Database a shot. Of course, you should have at least one good back up before proceeding.
Duplicate images can have many causes, but file structure ghosts are usually a database problem.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
"Repair Database
Sometimes internal structures within the library may become damaged and cause unexpected behavior; you can use Repair Database to try to correct the issue. Select the option to Repair Database then click the Repair button."
BTW: Aperture uses more than file names to identify duplicate images.

Bug with subscribed folders?
I'm pretty sure this is, or at least considered to be, a bug in Sun's IMAP implementation that comes with JavaMail 1.3 but I'd like other people opinions first.
If I have 3 folders:
INBOX
INBOX.Foo
INBOX.Foo.Bar
and I am subscribed to INBOX.Foo.Bar but not to INBOX.Foo when I call listSubscribed() in the INBOX Folder instance one of the returned folders will be one for INBOX.Foo . The instance for INBOX.Foo cann't not be opened which is correct BUT if you call isSubscrbied() on that isntance it returns true. Sniffing packets you'll see the follwoing conversion where the first line is from JavaMail, the other two are from the mail store.
A984 LSUB "" INBOX.Foo
* LSUB (\Noselect \HasChildren) "." "INBOX.Foo"
A984 OK Completed
According to secion of 6.3.9 of rfc2060: "A server MAY validate the subscribed names to see if they still exist. If a name does not exist, it SHOULD be flagged with the \Noselect attribute in the LSUB response."
And according to secion 7.2.3 of rfc2060 \Noselect in the response is defined as "It is not possible to use this name as a selectable mailbox." but I saw nothing stating if this imples the folder isn't subscribed.
I haven't tried it yet but I expect calling listSubscribed("*") on the folder instace for INBOX to return an array including an instace for INBOX.Foo.Bar but not for INBOX.Foo.
Being that this seems to be an undefined case about if INBOX.Foo should return true to isSubscribed() in the rfc but it seems reasonable to me that it should return false. Should I file a bug report?Section 6.3.9 of RFC3501 expands on previous RFCs and clarifies the LSUB command, confirming that this is a bug in JavaMail. http://www.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc3501.txt

Major bug with iCloud restore and the multitasking menu that compromises privacy.
Hello there,
I very rarely post on these forums but I’ve discovered what I think is a pretty serious bug. I’ve already sent this as feedback to apple but id be interested to know if anybody else is able to re-create it or has already stumbled across the problem.
I have been able to recreate this problem twice by creating an icloud backup on an iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0) and restoring to an iphone 6 (iOS 8.0).
The problem has to do with the multitasking snapshots that appear after double clicking the home button. On the iPhone it is my understanding that there can be up to 3 ‘different’ snapshots based on when the home button is double clicked and the orientation of an app:
a) The first is when you have an app open in portrait mode and then close it or click the home button to exit. Double clicking the home button from the home screen will then display the multitasking menu including a portrait snapshot of what was last seen in that app.
b) The next is when you're in an app that supports landscape mode and double click the home button whilst ‘in app.’ This displays a multitasking menu with landscape snapshots showing what was last seen when apps were open in landscape (note that if apps can only be shown in portrait than this is the image that will be shown and it will appear sideways).
c) Finally, there is the case when you have an app open in landscape and then directly close it or press the home button, and then double press the home button. This displays a multitasking menu with portrait snapshots; however, to my knowledge these snapshots never change (they will not show the last snapshot from when the app was last open in portrait mode).
The bug is that after restoring from iCloud, the snapshot as described in ‘C’ scenario gets set to whatever was in the icloud backup for scenario ‘A.’ Because this snapshot cannot be changed it is a major bug if for instance you have personal information in the snapshot. In my case, I have my bank statement permanently appear in the snapshot for scenario C.
What’s more, if I have safari is in landscape and then close it; then at some point I open the multitasking bar before opening safari again in portrait mode; then the snapshot flashes up in the actual app for around 1-2 second before disappearing.
At the moment the only solution I can see is to setup my iPhone as new but this will be a major hassle and lose all my settings etc.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that I think this is a bug across all ios devices with multitasking; however, with the ipads there is an easy solution because you are able to orientate the home screen in multiple ways. This means its possible to update the snapshots in a way that you can’t do on the iPhone because the home screen is locked to portrait.so to clarify, it appears that the multitasking snapshot for the following scenario will not update: open safari and turn to landscape, exit safari using home button or multitasking bar, then double press home button. That snapshot that appears for safari doesn't ever seem to refresh. Whatever is there is stuck there and whats more it will always pop up in the actual browser for 1-2 secs the next time safari is opened after completing those steps. Im not sure when the snapshot is initially created - it must be the first ever time you close safari but as I said in my post, it also appears to be stored in iCloud backups. So I've tried:
a) hard resetting
b) clearing safari cache and history
c) resetting all settings
d) restoring from iCloud (as mentioned)
e) opening and closing closing safari using the multitasking menu (both the landscape multitasking menu that appears when you're actually in safari in landscape mode, and the multitasking menu that appear when you double press the home button on the home screen).
f) same as above except closing all tbs open in safari before then exiting. -

I got one as a gift for a buddy, and was wondering if there were any common problems associated with the player. I've been following Creative for some time now, but it didn't seem like they really pushed this player much at all when it first came out
