**BUG (workaround) Sluggish PRE (Palm software gurus - please read)

Not sure if the Palm Developers ever get on here and take a look at issues, but there is s STRANGE workaround found for a Pre that becomes sluggish.
Every so often the Pre will start slowing down and acting really jittery when trying to open/run applications. BUT if you go to your call history and Clear it out... the phone returns to working faster. It's really sad that it doesn't take many calls in the history to make the Phone application start lagging heavily, but to have the rest of the phone's applications speed up once the history is cleared is nothing but crazy.
I truly hope Palm addresses this whacked out bug soon because I'm sooo tired of having my phone slow down (it isn't that fast to begin with). This is by far the BEST phone I've ever owned, with WebOS being sheer genius. But please address the issue of call history affecting the speed of all applications.

ATTN:::Nightmare with Titanium Software Onyx Please read

I was doing some cleaning using Onyx and executed one of the auto scripts and sinsce then Logic Pro will not open - it goes as far as "Searching for Audio Unit Plug-Ins" and just freezes.
Here is what i have tried.....
Trashing Audio Unit and Logic Pro caches & preferences - Result - No Change
Holding CTRL and selecting no when asked to load Core Audio - Result - Logic opens but no Audio Unit Manager and any plug in marked has cross through it.
Opening Logic from a song file - Result - Song opens but all plug ins used have a line through them.
Removing Plug-ins from component folder - No Change
I remember that during one use of Onyx I selected delete Audi Unit Cache and on another reset launch services
has anyone else had this issue? I have searched the forums butcannot find this problem. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH ONYX as I would not want this happening to anyone else.
any advice very very welcome.

Solution:: trash the cahce folder in both computer/library/cache and user/library/cache
do not tick the box for onyx to delete the audio unit cahce

Hello, I've just recently switched over from PT and I noticed almost immediately upon getting into logic that the main outs seem really loud when following my general mixing workflow that I'm use to using. In fact so much so that I can't really get a final product using ozone 4 like I was able to in PT. When I go to use the final stage of ozone 4 (the limiter) to maximize my volume without clipping, it pretty much just crushes my dynamics and overall mix into rubbish. What's going on here? What am I doing wrong? I'm not even limiting that much. Whereas before in PT I could limit it much more if I wanted to. Is there a setting somewhere in logic i'm missing? I know Pro tools and logic are different beasts so save the crappy comments, but there is a huge difference in main output behavior that just doesn't make sense to me and causes the same plug in (ozone 4) to act much differently.

Well it's not a mental hang up, as I've tried turning down the master fader substantially and ozone 4 still reacts differently than in PT, it sounds better without the loudness maximizer going, fuller and more dynamic. Whereas in PT I was able to utilize the maximizer to bring the volume up to a point and still not smash the mix. I've noticed this with pretty much anything I use a limiter/maximizer on in Logic. I don't understand what's going on. Surely I have something set funky somewhere? It's like it's putting a brick wall limiter on the mix even when I set it to intelligent and tweak everything a bit my meters just straight line, no movement, as if I have my volumes cranked to the max. Very subtle settings in ozone
we're talking -0.4 margin threshold -2.1 character set to very fast in intelligent II mode. This normally gives me a pretty decent amount of threshold adjustment to maximize volume. I'm stumped.

Win 8.1 Start button and Charms randomly stops working BUG (workaround)

To anyone experiencing this, it is a bug in Win 8.1 which I can replicate at will.
Reinstalling your system as suggested by MS engineers will not fix this.
To force the bug to appear:
1. Grab a desktop Icon (recycle bin, any shortcut) and move this up to the top left hand corner without letting go of the mouse button. Drop shortcut anywhere on desktop. Without an Icon the mouse pointer would initiate the recent apps.
2. To check that the first step has worked, try and invoke charms by moving mouse to top right hand corner. If Charms do not appear then the bug has been triggered.
3. Now move mouse over start button (no click), move away then back again. Now the start button is locked. If you unlock the taskbar you can move it to any other position (top, left or right) and the start button works. Move taskbar back to the
bottom and the start button still does not work. Only way to get it working again is to restart window explorer in task manager.
To avoid this happening all you need to do is disable recent apps corner.
1. Right click desktop.
2. Click Taskbar and Navigation
3. Click Navigation tab in the properties window
4. Uncheck "When I click the upper-left corner, switch between my recent tabs."
Now the bug cannot be triggered as above to make the start button stop working. You have to remove this feature which is pretty hopeless on a desktop anyway. Its better than restarting Window explorer every time.
I can replicate this on any desktop or laptop, fresh install or old. Not sure about any touch screen machines. I can also trigger this in VMPlayer\Virtual Box and the Modern IE VM images that MS provide.
Now the MS engineers can replicate this on their machines, and maybe if we are lucky they will FIX it!!!!
MS please acknowledge that this is a bug.
Maybe the issue is due to the windows button not being redrawn on the screen once triggered as it still works when taskbar is moved (graphic card drivers). Could not find anything use full in the system logs.
Just noticed also that the charms also breaks if you drag an Icon up to the right hand corner. Once triggered Charms stops working, start button is not affected with the above work around configured.
MS please read this and reply.

Top left hover for thumbnail feature and then also claimed not to see it.

Vista / Cardscan / 6.2.1 Palm Software / TX

Loaded Palm 6.2.1 and Cardscan 8.0.3 - all for Vista. Synched my Palm TX with Palm software, and no issues. However, won't sync with my Cardscan software. Keeps coming up with an unable to retreive latest Palm user and contact data and asaks to check my password protection (it is not assigned) when I try to sync using Cardscan. Palm software won't even give me the option to use the Addin "cardscan synchronization", which I find odd as I'd rather ask my Palm s/w to sync, and not Cardscan. Any ideas? Cardscan customer support has a lot to be desired, and I wouldn't recommend them (though the cardscan itself works like a champ, the s/w and support has a LOT to be desired). PLease help.

I'm a developer working for CardScan. Our tech support people forwarded your CardScan sync issue to me and I have done some debugging on this issue. I believe this problem is caused by Palm Desktop API failure in Palm Desktop 6.2.1 beta. Here are my debugging results:
1. CardScan needs to check if the main window of Palm Desktop UI is up or not. To do this, CardScan calls into Palm Desktop SDK's IDesktopUI::GetMainWindow() to get the Window handle of the Palm Desktop. This function call worked for 4.x versions of Palm Desktop and is the only way recommended by SDK documentation to get the window handle. In Palm Desktop 6.2.1 beta, this call always returns NULL even though Palm Desktop main window is up and running, this failure caused the error message you had (if Palm Desktop application is running and CardScan could not get a valid handle on Palm Desktop's main window, most likely there is a login dialog waiting for the user to enter password).
2. CardScan needs to get all the Palm Desktop contacts using Palm SDK's IAddressBookPim::GetContacts([category_name]) function call. Again, this function worked in 4.x Palm Desktop. But in Palm desktop 6.2.1 beta, this call always throws an "Access violation" exception, which makes it impossible to get any contacts using Palm Desktop API.
3. I did notice that even though the file version number of the COM dll for Palm Desktop SDK (Address.dll) is 6.2.1, the COM objects have the names like "Palm Desktop 4.1 - Address Book (ver 1.0)" in OLE Viewer. I wonder if Palm forgot to update their SDK in this beta release.
Can someone from Palm comment on these SDK issues?

Drivers from various HP pre-installed software

Hello,
I Have an HP ENVY 6 1040EW Ultrabook.
Because I had issues with my windows system I had to reïnstall windows with disks because a manual factory reset was not possible because of dammaged drivers.
There where no disks for this particular laptop so i had to use normal windows 7 recovery disks.
My problem:
I recovered Windows 7 with my recovery disks and ofcourse my old pre-installed software was not on my PC.
But I really liked HP coolsense, Beats Audio, HP connection manager and the HP service software to store safely my usernames and passwords. But I can't find the software on the HP website.

As to your issue, Apple does not and never has made a wristwatch as such. The only thing close to a watch that they have made was the 6th-generation iPod nano:

Palm Desktop needs to be installed with the local administrator priviledge during the install of Palm Desktop, the HotSync Manager, the first HotSyn sync, and the installation of any third-party conduits on the desktop.
After that, the local admin rights can be revoked.

DP is the demand planning machine, here you estimate your forecast (future sales).
The MRP is a supply planning machine, here you use estimate the replenishment.
Both machines in a technical perspective are independent one each other. Now in a business perspective they are not: The problem that you will have if you don´t clean your MRP elements is not a problem in DP itself. I mean, you can have a very success implementation in DP, your forecast accuracy will be very good.. and you will get a very good forecast, but when the MRP run and estimate the replenishment, the effort that you made in DP will not be translated in good results and your planning situation will be still not good.

How to get back back datas (created under Palm software) on a PC

I have a palm M500 where I recorded " my life " since about 10 years. In ten years I did not lose one file in spite of problems of PC or PDA.
Yesterday, at the conclusion of a synchronization PC / PDA by means of Palm desktop, I noticed that I lost 99 % of my data: on both my PC or my PDA, I find only 1 % of what appeared before the HotSynchro there. Furthermore, in a very bizarre way : my agenda was kept(preserved), the block notes completely disappeared and I only have around thirty of my contacts (addrsses) left ! I did not identify logic in the way this selection "copied / to erased / kept partially " was made.
Could you tell me if it is possible "to get back" the data lost (on my PC and my PDA) from either my PC or my PDA ? are they definitively lost or is there a "hidden track" (on the PC for example) of these data ? Could you help me in getting back my dats, in describing me the procedure and the precautions to be implemented(operated)?
I cannot put in words the harmful consequences which represents the loss of its data if it is definitive!

The Palm desktop creates backup files each time it syncs. If you haven't tried to sync again since this occured then yes the data is recoverable.
The procedure involes browsing the Palm software location. i.e C:\Program Files\Palm\ *hotsync username* (Make sure the Palm desktop is closed.)
Inside this folder you will see folders like Address, Datebook, Todo, Memopad. In side them (Address for example) You will see several files. You're looking for Address.dat and Address.bak.
Rename the .dat file to Address.old then rename the .bak file to Address.dat.
Do this for each PIM.
Open Palm desktop and the data should be restored.
