Bug: Your last browsing session closed unexpectedly message after every boot

It appears HP Smart Web Printing 4.51 has a bug. After installing it on Vista Ultimate 64-bit Internet Explorer 8 (32-bit version), everytime I shutdown then start up the computer and open up Internet Explorer 8, I get the message:  "Your last browsing session closed unexpectedly. Restore your last session or Go to your home page". And this happens after I close down Internet Explorer 8 normally. This never happened before.
I did a test: closed down Internet Explorer 8 normally, uninstalled  HP Smart Web Printing 4.51, and rebooted my computer. The  "Your last browsing session closed unexpectedly" message did not appear anymore. Definitely a bug.

I'm sure that there can be other causes to this with IE, and if you are not running HP software on your XP then it is not related, however it is the cause for us running smart web printing on our particular machines.
I have four: two deesktops, two laptops, running from XP sp3 to win 7 RTM - all running ie8, all started the same issue after install of SWP latest version, note latest version. and all stop after that process is either prevented from running on startup, or the program is removed. Enough proof for me considering the history of this company's SW packages.
If I dont find another solution I plan on disabling the notification thru a registry edit. It's annoying more than helpful to receive it every single time you open for an initial session, plain and simple, and a result of bad coding.

  • How do I fix this error? Your last firefox session closed unexpectedly. Firefox gives 2 option and neither start Firefox.

While using linux I am getting the following message - "Your last session closed unexpectedly. You can restore the tabs and windows from the previous session, or start a new session if you think the problem was related to a page you were viewing". When I select either "Start new session" or "Restore session" Firefox does not start and I have no access to the internet.

  • Every time I open Internet, I receive a message that my last session closed unexpectedly, even thouhg it did not.

When I am finished with internet I close the browser, from the "X" at the top right, or from the File, Exit options. But the next time I open internet (from the desktop shortcut or from the start menu, I receive a window that says my last Firefox extension closed unexpectedly, and it gives me the option to restart my last session or start a new session. How do I stop this window from appearing when my last session was NOT closed unexpectedly?

That sounds that Firefox didn't close properly the previous time.

10.0.1.5 is my Macbook Pro's IP address on my network and this log continues showing the session closing and logging in every 5 minutes or so. I don't know why it would be doing this. If I restart the router, all is fine for a day or so but it goes back to doing this again. Any suggestions?

  • Error messages after every use of pacman

I'm getting error messages after every use of pacman. Don't know if it's compromising the usage, but it's quite annoying. The messages are the following:
    /sbin/ldconfig: file /usr/lib/libicudata.so.38.0 is truncated
    /sbin/ldconfig: file /usr/lib/libicudata.so.38 is truncated
    /sbin/ldconfig: file /usr/lib/libicudata.so is truncated

    /sbin/ldconfig: file /usr/lib/libicudata.so.38 is truncated
    /sbin/ldconfig: file /usr/lib/libicudata.so is truncated
    Any guesses?

Because the file you get errors about is owned by that package, I'd try a normal reinstallation first though, the f flag isn't the safest one...

  • Stop Safari from opening last browsing session?

Using Safari 5.1 (7534.58.3). I do a radio show twice per week.  While on the show, I open like 30 windows with articles or information I want to discuss on the show.
When I'm done, I close the browser.
Later, when I reopen it, the 15 or so pages i didn't get to come back.  Safari has remembered my browsing history and reopened all previous pages from my last broswer session.
I don't like that and want to turn it off.
    Can I?
    IF so, how?
    If not, why not?
    Thanks
    Cliff

    See

Or you can also hold down "Shift" while clicking Safari to skip the loading of your last session when it is launched. This must be done each time though.

  • I want FF to open my last browsing session, but not open tabs unless I choose to

I am re-setting my settings after a FF 'refresh' . I was able to open FF browser & Session Manager would prompt me to open last session, it would open, but not actually 'open' any sites, until I physically clicked on a site (in a tab)...how to I get this option again, please ??
Step by step instructions, please I am a novice, I just cannot remember the name of this option, all I know is that it fits my needs perfectly, and kudos for the person who invented it, it makes my browsing life sooo much easier....I remember when the option first became available, I jumped on it & life has been fantastic ever since. I did a little browsing today whilst waiting for my original question to be answered, & really missed it....
I am running WIN XP PRO SP 3.0 32 bit on a desktop computer.
    Thanks & kind regards
    Sylvia

Thanks so much Mark, I did unintentionally discover this after a lot of hours adding back all the things I lost when I did a 'refresh' of FF...sigh
I am very grateful for your answer, though, as the Question is now in the archives, and that has to be a good thing, as I am not the only novice out there...lol...
    Blessings

  • My browser keeps closing unexpectedly. I only know about it when I get a request from AT&T asking if I want to stay connected. How do I fix this?

Firefox is not exactly crashing. I can be online reading e-mail, surfing the net, or just reading information. Suddenly I may receive a notice from AT&T that my browser is closed and asking if I want to remain connected to the internet. This has been happening for the last several weeks. I called AT&T & they advised that it was not their problem, but my browser server...Firefox.
I have been running a belated copy of AVG Free while waiting to get a new DVD part installed. (AT&T tech suggested that might be a contributing factor.) Today I installed a new 2011 version of AVG, but the browser is still closing although perhaps not as often.
HELP! I am a total computer idiot. I just need someone to walk me through a solution.
    Thanks,

Here is a picture of what I get

  • Firefox is now closing unexpectedly shortly after I open it. There is not even enough time to click on help, then disable ad-ons. I also don't receive any error messages. It just closes after a few seconds. Help! Don't want to use other browsers.

I came here to post because it seems my question wasn't posting when simply clicking on "ask this question".

I think in the circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall is called for. Please follow these instructions.
Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0] and download a fresh installation file using IE8 or 9 and choose to save it to your desktop when you see the prompt.
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to '''Mozilla Firefox '''and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
Then reboot and delete the folder called '''Mozilla Firefox '''at this location: ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox''
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

  • Some applications (Logic Pro, Skype, Garageband etc) are closing 'unexpectedly' immediately after opening!

Since updating to Mountain Lion OS (January 6th 2013) a few of my applications such as Logic Pro, Skype and Garageband are appearing with "this application has quit unexpectedly" as soon as I open them. Everything is up to date and it's becoming very frustrating as I have no idea what I can possible do to get past this! Please help me!!

Fixed, but I'm not exactly sure why.
I ended up re-installing OS 10.6.4 from the system disks, upgraded to 10.6.5 using the combo updater, re-installed the MOTU MIDI and the Ensemble updater, and ran the Logic 9.1.3 updater as well.
Everything started up, and it looks like all of my preferences were preserved.

  • Can your iphone send an arbitrary/random message after being restored?

    Ok...
I had someone's phone send me a text at 9:55PM.
When I asked them about it the next day they said they had no clue what I was talking about.  I took a screen shot and sent it to them proving that the text was sent.  They returned a shot that did not have the text in it… obviously it is possible for someone to send a text and then delete it, which would be why it does not show on your phone.
My question, as stated above because their excuse was they restored their phone and that is what happened - it must have sent the text… can that happen?  But even more curious is if they said they restored their phone, how did I get a text at 9:55PM when they were sitting at the bar??  Can you restore your phone without tethering to a computer?
Thanks in advance for any info.

"Can you restore your phone without tethering to a computer?": Yes
" it must have sent the text… can that happen? ": no

  • Excel Unexpectedly Quits After Installing Boot Camp

I installed Boot Camp last night on my MacBook Pro (Leopard 10.5.1, 160GB, 2.4 and 4GB Ram) and now my Excel files won't open in that application. Also, I can't repair permissions. If you might be able to help (greatly appreciated), here are the details:
Excel crashes when I try to open a saved file. It complains that: "This file is not in a recognizable format." and then "Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any more documents because there is not enough available memory or disk space." and finally "The application Excel quit unexpectedly."
All apps worked without a problem before installing Boot Camp. During installation I got an error message at the end of my first attempt to partition, saying that files could not be overwritten (or moved around) and I had to back up my HD and then erase it and then reinstall from the back-up. I did a file back-up using Carbon Copy cloner (tested the back-up by successfully booting from it), erased the HD using disk utility (running my Leopard start-up disk) and then reinstalled from the back up disk. Then partition was successful. I chose a 32GB windows partition. Installed Windows XP and then the drivers. Now I have the crashing Excel. My Mac partition still has about 15GB remaining. Isn't that enough?
I tried to fix this with my Leopard install disk by running DiskUtility and repairing permissions. It now gives me a dozen or so warnings about the permissions being wrong but when I click "repair permissions" it reports that the problems were not repaired.
Maybe the disk back-up screwed up the permissions? Maybe I need more than 15GB to run Excel? Any ideas? Thanks for reading my post.

  • Error message after every startup

Every time after turning on my iMac, I get the "Error"-Message:
    (beautyful Moiré)
    Which is in English:
You switched off your computer due to a problem.
If you want to open the Apps, that were open before switching-off, click "Open" (Öffnen)
Otherwise the login will continue in XX seconds.
I should emphasize, that all is working fine – but the message is a little bit boring.
Does anybody has an idea, what pref(s) keep(s) the false information and can be trashed without causing any bad consequences?

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • Why does this browser get worse and worse after every update?

ever since updating it has froze, adobe crashes, and unresponsive script. it froze up for 25 minutes awhile ago. i let it stay frozen just to see how long it would stay frozen. what is up with this browser?

Try to disable protected mode in the Flash player.
    See:
    *[[/questions/929081]]
    *[[/questions/928820#answer-340046]]
    For the freezes try this:
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Long time quitting -Unexpectedly quits after every import

    Hi ..
Somehow through all the kernel panics and unexpectedly quitting ... I'm still managing to plow my way through and make movies ... but it is very annoying ..
AFter each import from my camera ... iMovie unexpectedly quits ... but at least when I relaunch it generates the thumbnails even though I get a few grey ones now and then .. but still workable.
Through various functions I get the beachball ... but if I wait its okay ... but especially on quitting the app it takes a long time ...
Does iMovie need a ton of ram or something ?

The more the better. 2GB works well. If you are using 1GB, I would try rebooting, and launching nothing else but iMovie. If you are still getting the beachball, Ram is cheap. Check out www.macsales.com
