Buggy iPod or normal stuff?

Hi, new Nano user here.
Couple of strange issues today which I didn't experience yesterday. Not sure what to make of them.
*When a track is playing, as I look at photos, every now and then, (though not every time) when I click through the photos using the fast forward/rewind buttons, the music jumps around randomly. Seems to pick sort of random tracks around the current one playing.
*During a "shuffle" play, I hit "menu" and the Apple logo came up, and the pod stopped playing. Immediately after, started up again when I selected a new song.
Any ideas?

I've tried holding down top button and round button which makes it go off but as soon as you push top button again it comes back and again its frozen.

They hacked it and may have caused damage to your device. Jailbreaking also voids your warranty and support from Apple. To restore to a clean state, restore in Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

Buggy iPOD

i have a problem on my 1st gen ipod shuffle. the itunes doesn't update ( The ipod <<name of the pod>>cannot be updated.this disk could not be read from or written to. after that it continues to try to update it and gives me an -50 error. i tried allmost everything, reinstall of the itunes, update, ipod shuffle reset utility.... what can i do in order to fix this??? pls help me,

if these problems cant be fixed, that'd be just as helpful to know as would possible solutions. if anyone knows that this cannot be fixed, i can stop dwelling on it and live with the flaws.

The volume of some albums are low on ipod, but normal on itunes

I recently formatted and updated my ipod to use with my new mac, and added all my songs to it. I have adjusted the volume level of all my songs on itunes to about 70%. After listening to some new albums on the ipod through my Bose Sound Dock, I noticed one album in particular was extremely low in volume and quality. I then listened to the album on itunes and it was perfect. So I tried increasing the volume to 100% in itunes for that album, then retransferred it to Ipod. Listened to the album on Sound Dock and it was still low. Tried it in my car through auxillery input on stereo, and it was still low. Tried listening to the album on my headphones and nearly blew my ears off. The volume adjustment on itunes only seems to make a difference when using the headphones, not when using anything else (Sound Dock, Car Stereo).
Is there something you need to do in itunes to make the volume adjusments apply in every situation??
Has anyone else had a problem like this??

My volume is low on itunes compared to music match. It's frustrating as I can barely hear the music in my kitchen. Has anyone figured out what this issue is?

IPod wont let stuff be put on it HELP!

Hi, so a short while ago my iPod touch, when I connected it up to my laptop and iTunes and tried to put say some photos on the iPod, it says "Cannot copy item" at the top with a big red circle and a white cross in it next to it, then below "The divice has either stopped responding or has been disconnected"
The iPod is connected perfectly fine to the computer and the usb cable is fine as I tried connecting with my Dads iPad cabel. Now I waa thinking could this be something to do with me not having updated it to iOS 5 yet, or could it just be a fault?

- rebooting the computer
- resetting the iPod. Nothing is lost

- Anothr cable.

In expansion of the above, I must ask, What is the life expectancy of a well-cared-for iPod. I treat mine like it were the crown jewels. It gets a lot of use, but rests comfortably and safely in between uses. Based on this, I'm thinking the Hard Drive bearing surfaces will go first - in about 7 to 12 years.

From what I've heard, you'll need to replace the
battery roughly once every eighteen to twenty-four
months. Apple's price is $59 plus $7 shipping.
So, by then, the 5th generation will be out of warranty and possibly, like the first generation is now, the batteries are installed locally over a few day period so there is no shipping charge (for first generation.)
If the iPod lasts for 16 to 20 years, then there would be approximately 8 to 10 battery replacements needed, about $600 total for batteries on average for an iPod that lasts that long.

Ipod frozen normal troubleshooting isn't working

I have a frozen ipod and none of the troubleshooting tips on the support site seem are working. It is locked on the do not disconnect screen and won't respond to anything, including plugging it into the computer. Any advice?

Assuming you have a 5G iPod with video...
You need to reset your iPod by holding down Menu and Select for 6-10 seconds...
Resetting iPod
It may take several attempts. The above link also has "tips" if your iPod does not seem to be resetting.
If your iPod, after many attempts, will still not reset, you will have to wait for the iPod's battery to die. Then you can charge it back up and it should work fine.

New desktop computer for gaming as well as normal stuff

I am looking for a new desktop computer that I could use for gaming--such as League of Legends and anything else I might find in the coming months/years, as well as eventually being able to hook up ps3 games eventually, but probably not right away. I am looking for suggestions on what specific systems to get and/or what specifications for a desktop i should be looking at. I am entirely new at this and could use help from every direction. Any help is appreciated

The biggest things you need to look for are CPU(for gaming and your budget look for Core i7's or AMD x6's), RAM - most gaming computers come with 6-8GB now, and a discrete video card. I am partial to nVidia chips, but an ATI card will work just the same.
As for brand, I prefer ASUS for gaming machines as they do have a gaming line.
Are you going to be looking for a package, monitor, tower, etc? Or do you already have a monitor?

Just at a quick glance, this is a decent system to kinda base what you're looking for off of. The CPU is decent, good amount of RAM. The graphics could be a bit stronger, though you could always upgrade that.

How can I remove an account and apps from another user from my Ipod. My nephew used to live with me and everytime I sync my Ipod his stuff is added to mine. I have no way to contact him for his password.

I need to know how to remove an iTunes account associated with my computer. My nephew used to live with me but has moved out. Everytime I sync my iPod touch his stuff is added to my device. I have no way to contact him to get his password. How can I make this go away. He listened to music that is very offensive to me and I dont want it in my library or playlists. You can use computer iTunes to help.
Connect your iPod Touch to Computer's iTunes
In iTunes, select your iPod Touch under DEVICES (left pane).
On right pane select Music at the top.
Now you can de-select the music/playlist or anything you don't want and click Sync button bottom right.
You can do the above for Apps, Books, etc.
You can of course, de-authorize the computer in iTunes menu Store.
Note: That will make everything using his AppleID inaccessible.

How do i synce two different ipods with one computer??

i recently purchased an ipod 5th generation for my other half which i have set up an account for and comes up when i plug in but the home page always comes up with my ipod stuff which is a 4th generation ipod. i have no problem with mine as it stores songs etc but when i plug the other one in it deletes whats on there and i have to manually tick all the songs again to sync back on to it. is this normal?? i am using a windows xp and have no issues with the computer and my ipod just the other one. i also have updated itunes to itunes 9 so the 5th generation ipod can download stuff. it seems to store songs and then when i go to download or update it takes them off and am back to square one!!!! please help!!

Backing up 5th Generation iPod to External Hard Drive

I use a Western Digital external hard drive coupled with the "Backup and Restore Center" feature present in my Vista's systems. When I connect the WD hard drive to my computer to do my weekly file backup, my iPod is occasionally also connected, and the Backup and Restore Center asks me if I'd like to back up the files located on "External Hard Drive" (the iPod in question).
Which brings me to my question: Is it possible to back up files -directly- from my 5th Generation iPod to my external hard drive, just in case my iPod unexpectedly goes to Apple Heaven, or is that a breach of the Apple Terms of Use? If it is in fact possible, is there anything I should watch out for in the process?

A lot of what is stored on your iPod is stored in hidden folders and files. If your backup software does not normally back up the hidden files and folder on your computer, then it likely won't really be backing up the iPod either.
Your iTunes library should be your iPod backup and your Western Digital should be your iTunes library backup.
Of course the flip side of your question, which I do not know the answer to is, if the backup software does indeed backup the iPod's hidden stuff, is it able to restore it to the iPod directly? You could plug in your iPod and let the software back it up, then test it and see if you can find a way to restore the iPod and see if it works or not. If it doesn't, then you can always just resync it back with iTunes like normal.

How can I get the option to make an iPod selection playlist when there is not enough space on my iPod for my whole iTunes library?

I am trying to sync my iPod with my iTunes library and I recently added more music to my library than there is space on my iPod. Normally, I know iTunes is supposed to give you the option of creating an iPod selection playlist, so you can choose which songs you want to put from your library onto your iPod. However, iTunes won't currently give me that option. It simply gives me an error message saying there is not enough free space to sync my iPod. How can I get it to create the iPod selection playlist?

HT1386 I'm reloading my music library onto my 5th gen.iPod nano and everytime it tries to sync a song (uncorrupted) it will take 2 hours to sync it 90% then it will stay there and not make any progress. How to fix?

This has been going on for three days. I had to restore my iPod because the artwork was scrambling around (anyone know how to fix that too?) and when I tried to reload all my music onto my iPod, it would load on a few songs, but then it would stop on "I Wouldn't Mind" by He is We, which I got off mediafire and never gave me problems before. I unchecked the song when I tried to resync my iPod, and sure enough it just switched over to another song (this one being from a CD) so I don't think it's a file problem, but an iPod problem. I've tried different cables, different USB ports, restarted my computer, uninstalled/reinstalled the latest versions of iTunes, even cleaned the lint from out of my iPod's docking slit. I am using a Dell Inspiron which I got in October, and this is my first time restoring the iPod since transfering my library over from my old computer.
Is there something I can do myself to fix these problems and have my iPod sync normally again??

- unfortunately i don't really remember how i transfered songs to my MB anymore... it was several days ago and i didn't try fixing it until yesterday... after which point i've been through several bouts of struggling against smashing my MB/iPhone, pulling my hair, and punching my counter top several times until finally my girlfriend decided to go home and i quickly set about self medicating with alcohol - probably sounds funny, but true. i'm sober now though! ;p i think when i first went to sync my phone for the first time after resetting my MB, a message came up saying that i had songs on my phone that needed to be transferred to my MB or i would risk losing them during the sync session, so i clicked 'transfer'.
- i have a LOT of non-iTunes content.
- i have over 11,000 items in my itunes library (some of these appear to be sound effects that appeared in my library after i reset my computer - presumably stuff from garage band), and currently have 80 songs on my phone.
- my 'other' category is .86 GB
- i back up to iCloud
- i do use iCloud for other media storage. mostly just reports for work.

ITunes freezes when i connect iPod?!

I've had my iPod one week - one week!!! - and already something has gone wrong.
iTunes works fine when I'm just listening to music or what have you, but when I plug in my iPod, within a few minutes the iTunes freezes. iPod says not to disconnect, I have no choice but to, and have to alt-control-delete to get rid of iTunes.
iPod seems normal....plays fine when I'm using it and stuff. Basically they work fine independently but when I connect them, it all goes wrong.
So is it the iPod or the iTunes that's poorly, and how do I fix it?! Please help!

OKay, I've somehow managed to fix this problem (not sure how, changed the settings I think) but in doing so I've managed to wipe my iPod, and when I tried to put music back on, half the music has suddenly got exclamation marks by them and won't play.
What have I done?!
