Bugs/flies behind screen

Hi,
I have about a dozen dead corn fly things behind my screen. I've had the glass off and cleaned both the glass and the screen, but to no avail...the bugs are behind the screen itself!!!!
I can't get them off...no amount of flicking will budge them.
Does anybody have any suggestions about how to get at them...they're driving me mad!
Thanks :-)

This problem is too common, only have to reset PRAM and the SMC, in Apple Support Pages there is the guide to do this.
Also try to update Safari

  • Moving bug behind screen.

Firstly, I am not making this up.
I just turned on my iMac to find a small bug climbing the screen. I cannot wipe it away as it is behind the glass. I cannot really tell what it is but it is about 4mm long and moves around from time to time, shaped like a tiny slug but leaves no slime trail.
The iMac is only a few weeks old and I have not had it apart so cannot understand how it got in there. More importantly, how should I get it out? I am reluctant to leave the iMac on in case the bug dies from the heat and is stuck there.

    Hello dewlean
The outer glass panel is held in place by a series of magnets around the edge. If your the handy type it can be removed for cleaning with a set of mini glass suction cups. If not it's best to take it to your Local Apple Store or Service Provider and let them clean and remove the critter.

  • Dust behind screens.

I have dust behind screen for the second time, on both of my iMacs. First time it was just before expiration of warranty. Now, warranty is gone and I would need to pay several hundreds of EUR for replacement ? Any advise ?

If you still have the case numbers from your warranty, call Apple Customer Relations - 1-800-767-2275.  Ask politely & firmly that you want to be transferred to Customer Relations.  Tell them exactly what you stated in your post.  See what they can do for you.
    GOOD LUCK!
P.S.  Apple has a 90 day warranty on their repairs.  Are you pass that?

  • Dust behind screen - price if repaired?

Had my laptop for over 2 years. No applecare. Annoying dust behind screen. I have no Apple Stores near me, so unless you mail it to them I doubt I could have it fixed. But what would the cost be? Anyone know?

Call around to an AASP and ask for an estimate - AASP's Outside of the USA

  • A small bug on lock screen

    Hi,
there was a bug on lock screen before the update and it is still there. I thought Sony might have not been noticed it because it is really a small bug so I wanted to give information. If you use draw pattern when you touch left or right bottom corner for a while it reflects as you touch widget. Or if you slide top to down at right or left corner it enlarges the widget.
Edit: I have take some screen shots:

Sorry for spam but someone should take care of this

  • Dead bug behind screen!

My ipod seems to have made a new friend! A small insect has somehow crawled into my ipod classic 160 (which has never been taken apart) and decided to die right in the middle of the screen. It seems quite stuck there and wont budge. I have even tried a burst from a compressed air laptop aerosol down the headphone socket but no luck.
I phoned up my local Apple store, the guy i spoke to was surprised, he said he thought this wouldn’t be covered by my warranty (I only got my ipod at xmas and the ipod works fine except for the insect!). In fact he suggested a third party repair which would of course void my warranty. I have made an appointment to take it in to the store so they can have a look first hand.
Has anyone had this happen to them before, if so what was Apples response? From reading on the net I have been let to believe the screen should be sealed to stop things getting behind it. I don’t want to try taking the ipod apart myself as from the guides posted on the net it looks very tricky to do and I suspect my ipod wouldn’t be the same again!

Its all good, I am just back from my local Apple shop with a shiney replacement ipod! Thanks Apple!

  • Small Bug trapped behind my screen!

Today I turned on my computer only to find a very small spec moving around my screen. I looked closer and it was a tiny bug moving around. I went to flick it off the screen but when I did- I realized it was actually UNDER the glass! It moved over to the black bezel then moved back onto the screen. Then I walked out of the room praying that it would come out of the screen, only to come back to see that it had died right over my System Preferences icon in the dock. I can definitely tell that this is not a dead pixel and it can be seen even when the screen is off. I am very worried because I just bought my macbook pro at the end of june. What should I do?

Considering these screens are meant to be sealed, there's an awful lot of reports about this kind of thing - indeed, in the next couple of weeks I'll be having my fourth (count 'em!) screen on my mid-07 manufactured Macbook Pro, all of them having had bits of dust in them. I do a fair bit of photo editing on my machine, so it's a bit of a pain, to say the least.

  • Bugs in between screen layers.

I have an ant stuck behind the protective layer of my screen. Is there any way to simply remove the casing so I can get the ant out?

I cracked open several iMac G5 flatscreen before and there is no way a bug can get inside that, even if they are tried, they will die trying, and killed by iMac heat and fan before could get into the screen.
If you meant is flat panel iMac G4, it could be happening but this is the first time I read about it.
Could you post a picture so we can analyze and give you proper suggestion.
Try also iMac forum, maybe they have different opinion and more knowledge about your mac.
    Good Luck.

  • Display bug: boxing, white screen, duplications. How can I fix?

Having a problem with the screen stability. The bug seems to start when a few minutes or so into using a browser. I end up with duplciations of the screen and browser window sticking to my cursor, boxing and blinking of sections of my screen.
This occurs with both firefox and chrome. Force quitting any open browsers does stop it, as does successfully selecting the browser window and moving it all around a bit. The bug does affect the finder as well, its not simply a case of minimising the troubled browser as it happens all over the screen. Has happened 3 times while trying to writing this.

that looks like it could be a hardware issue, but if you still have the disks that shipped with your computer, then try reinstalling the OS (have a back up first). if it keeps happening then your best bet would be to contact Apple or find the nearest AASP and see what they can do to you

  • A small bug inside my screen

I know it would sound funny, but there is a tyny bug/insect inside my Mac screen, I see it moving here and there, and I have no idea how to get rid of it. Any ideas?

There are holes in your Mac, USB ports and ventilation slots to name but a few.
That's how it got in there.

  • Symbian Anna - Annoying bug with home-screen short...

    Hello guys,
Since I've updates to Anna I'm noticed that sometimes when I try to open a home-screen shortcus, it doesn't respond even that I can feel the feedback. I was trying to figured it out why that happens since it was really annoying me so I've finded out that when you scroll the home-screen, you have to wait 1 or 2 seconds for the shortcuts start to respond, that annoying bug also happens with the calendar widget. What I really don't understand is that doesn't happen with any other widgets.
I wonder if other people are experiencing the same problem and I'm want to know if Nokia plans to fix it, I'm was getting tired of Symbian already to have to get used to another shortcome.
Here is the bug on video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYauKzGvREA

Notice tha same here. Some times it takes 4-5 seconds before anything opens.
Especially if the shortcut is to a folder (like "Games", "Programs", "Office" or "Tools"

  • Bugs under the screen????

Hi, my Portege M400 laptop came with a manufacturing defect where the screen would separate from the lip of the plastic whenever I'd close it or flip it into tablet mode...But I'd only noticed it once little specs of dirt got underneath it, and I'd tried calling support for them to fix it but they said they wouldn't, keep in mind this was about three years ago, and now I open my laptop to find a little bug crawling under the screen! I'm pretty sure my warranty is out anyway but I accidentally squashed it against the LCD(or whatever type it is)...What should I do? Should I open the top and clean it out or what? I'm kind of worried that there's more somewhere under it, and this one's annoying, it's right on my Firefox URL box!
    Help??
NOTE: I don't have enough money for a new laptop!

zenny53: I've seen no mention yet of whether the same design has been used as the Micro.
Dust getting into the screen is not a function of sealing the screen. It will get in through air gaps e.g. where the buttons are. All I can suggest is keeping it in a good quality case, and away from dusty environments.
As for the headphone socket, technically you can only return the player when it's developed an actual fault. Is the sound reproduction actually effected?

  • Dv7 Laptop dust behind screen

Since I bought My laptop 11 months ago dust  has been gradually gathering behind the screen underneath the webcam.  Initially this was only noticable while the screen was off (black) so it did not bother me.  .  Recently a couple of pieces of white 'debris' appeared there, one of which is 2mm wide and really impairs use of the laptop.  It is big enough to obscure part of a character on the screen.
At this point I decided to contact HP to request it be fixed under warrenty. As I have seen from others on this site HP claim this is not covered under warrenty.   I am amazed. I can't believe HP will not fix this. They told me this was 'due to negligence'.  I only use the laptop at home in the evenings and keep it in a case while not being used. It has neve been out of the house.  It has not been dropped, wet, used in a dusty environment in the wind (all suggestions from HP's Tech Support. The only way to have stopped this happening would have been to not use it! I do not understand how dirt can get into a sealed unit.
This has to be a manufacturing fault. Furthermore after reading around I find more people with the exact same issue.  Some people have tried to clean this themselves, but have found the screen to be glued in.
Does anyone have any advice?  Would anyone from HP like to comment or actually help me?
I have followed HP complaints procedure but they refused to do anything.  When I said I would like to take it higher I was told there was no one higher to complain to and that their managers are 'not customer facing at all'
This is extremely poor service.  I paid £800 for this laptop and fully expected an obvious manufacturing fault to be rectified.

    I fixed it myself!
First I had some more discusstion with Comet where I bought the laptop.   They initially said they would look at it for £50 and charge me for any parts that were needed, but it was unlikely there would be any.  I pondered this for a while because I was under the impression the screen was glued in.  When I asked them about this they said they would replace the whole screen anyway and stated 'it would cost more than the laptop is worth'
    pathetic.
Rather than spend the money I decided to go it alone as I could not happily use the laptop as it was.  I dismantled it myself.  I removed the screen unit, dismantled the bezel and removed inverter, wireless antenna and webcam. Yes the screen is glued in and yes it is a nightmare to remove.  The clear plastic cover on the screen is glued to both the bezel and the lcd paneI. I cracked the bezel slightly getting it off, but once back together you can hardly see this.  I cleaned the screen before putting it together again and decided rather than glue the panel back in I would like to have the option of taking it apart again to clean it if I need to.  Once reassembled I used invisible tape to fix the clear plastic cover back over the lcd. It is hardly noticable and I can remove it anytime I like without dismantling the laptop again. My laptop is useable again with paying HP any more money!
So how did this occur?  Once I had removed the screen I could see the problem - There is a gap in the glue/seal above the webcam and there is a gap there so dust and small foreign objects can get in. This is a MANUFACTURING / DESIGN DEFECT.  HP must know this and refuse to admit it or to help unless you pay a ridiculous fee.  They rely on the small print in their warrenty to cover themselves. I have no faith in HP as a result of this. What polite words can I use to descibe them and the service I received?
    none.
If you have one of these laptops without this problem, then I recommend you cover the gap between the edge of the screen above the webcam and the bezel with a piece of tape so nothing can get in.
If you are thinking about buying a new HP laptop.....Don't

  • Dust behind screen on n96

my phone has been annoying me lately! the OS is fine, but there now seems to be a build up of dust behind my screen! its quite annoying in day light! im blowing my phone from all sides to see if it moves, but nothing, i sent it to the repairs center to get it sorted and to tighten my phone but they just sent it back with an update, ive emailed them to complain with no reply, so i guess i have to do it myself, the phone jus feels really loose when sliding or when its in the normal mode, is this common?
does any one have solutions to getting the dust removed?

It is thought that dust can get in via the ear piece.
May be get a CP-293 to slow the ingress down.
