Bugs in OSX 10.6.5

Is there a list of bugs in OSX 10.6.5? I think I saw one, and it had one that would impact me. So, I would have to wait until 10.6.6.

No known bug list. If you have an issue you want to report to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.

  • Intel IMac System Crash and Loss of Info bug on OSX 10.4.11....

I believe there is a bug (or perhaps is just my ignorance about unix OSs').
It has happened to me twice now since I got my IMac last year.
The thing is that I love the way my IMac Looks and I always try to customize the looks and to trick a little bit the performance by using Parallels, Garage Band, Photoshop, and running them perfectly with my 2Ghz Intel core duo. 1.5Gb RAM, and 512Mb only allocated for Parallels desktops memory.
I Usually change the Icons, folders Names and Backgrounds... you know, all the tricks you can do with these things... BUT... (The 1st time this happened to me, was about a year ago, one month after I changed from PC when I first configured my IMac. I had to reinstall Mac OSX, and I lost all the Info.)
I renamed the home folder from a finder window: pablozuluaga-giraldo > to > ZuLu...
and Boom... It Crashes, You reboot the computer and it does not remeber anything...
Folder views, Icons, Nothing... Even the mouse and Dock configurations changed drastically.
Maybe its my ignorance, like I said, and you cannot change the name of the home folder in finder because the disk suddenly gets lost and does not find nor remembers your information...
Is my Information Lost? I would not think so because the volume values have not changed, and I have not erased anything...
Therefore, I believe they are "displaced" from where they Should be....
Could anybody help me find them please?
I've managed to see the hidden files in OSX, but this is gonna take way more unix than that.
There is Invaluable information imperative for University projects in there....
    Please...!

ps. I saw a post at
    here
that was more or less the same issue but on Vista.

    2Q,
Please open a support case on this one (
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flash)
As a Flash developer you have access to either phone or
webcase support. In this case I might recommend going to the phone.
Be prepared to provide a sample FLA and also give the agent the
link to this forum thread. If for some reason the first support
tier doesn't give you any satisfaction then post the case number
here and also ask to be escalated. (I'd love to look at this myself
but I'm just out of resources, sorry).

  • Fireworks CS4 & CS5 application frame bug in OSX Lion

I've had this problem before with Snow Leopard and CS4, never resolved it without the below, and it's bugging me to the point I don't want to pay for an upgrade to CS5 as it's still there in CS5, and I dreamed it might not be!
    I know the following facts:
It doesn't exhibit on a clean OSX install.
It doesn't exhibit on a new user account on the same machine.
It doesn't go wrong for ages, but when it does it's impossible to fix without a clean install of OSX
Deleting everything realted to Adobe/Fireworks (there must be something I miss - anoyone got  a list?) and re-installing CS4 or CS5 doesn't fix it.
It's related to screen resolution (2560x1600) as it doesn't exhibit if I change the resolution, but I'm not going to run in anthing less than native on my cinema screen as that's pointless.
    What happens?
Open or create a new document whilst using the application frame and the whole frame jumps full screen then up and left (out of bounds slightly) and sometimes the frame is over the image.
Sometimes it can be recovered by dragging the frame (if it didn't go outside full screen)  It makes using CS4 or CS5 a nightmare.
I'd like to know where it gets the notion to move the frame/go full screen, and how I can reset this weird and annoying behaviour.
Having to run Fireworks in a new account is a PITA.
    Help?

    WOW!
After a couple of hours fruitless application conflict searching I stumbled on a solution.
I tried the FW without the frame, and didn't like the way the bottom bar sat by the dock, so I turned on dock hiding, the bottom bar then snaps to the bottom of the screen.
Went back to application frame on and was amazed to find that everything was now working as expected.
I assumed it was to do with dock hiding, so unhid it, but FW still works fine.  Thought maybe it was to do with the number of icons in the dock (I have over 40) or the dock size, but can't replicate the problem in my other user account, so I can only assume the following:
During the course of an editing session with multiple windows open and maybe with the FW window pushed under the dock and maybe opening a new file from finder in FW - maybe this is when it gets confused. - that would be a typical work pattern for me.
So, no matter any more, I have a fix for next time - hide the dock, see if it resolves, if not hide the dock allow it to open in the non frame mode to full edges of the screen, see if that fixes it.
It explains why a pristine user doesn't have the problem - small dock, it explains why a fresh install is okay for a while - dock not full of applications *I Must Have*  maybe someone somewhere can replicate the bug and fix it.
    *happy face*

  • Wrong CD Titles Displayed THIS IS A BUG IN OSX APPLE PLEASE FIX

I've been having this same problem for YEARS. Can comeone at Apple please address this issue? Here's what happens. I load a custom CD that has never been in the machine before and it should just display this CD as "title" or some other generic notation. Instead, the operating system displays the CD NAME OF THE LAST CD I BURNED. The system also ASSIGNS THE TRACK NAMES OF THE LAST CD BURNED. The tracks will continue to be mislabeled when importing into a digital editor. WHY HASN'T APPLE FIXED THIS? This has been going on since 10.2.8 fercrissakes.
Where is CD title information stored? I've gone through my ~/Library/Cache folder and couldn't find anything there.

The information is stored in "CD Info.cidb" in your preferences folder.
It will also look on the internet if the option is enabled in the "Importing" tab of iTune's "Advanced" preference.
It looks up the track names based on the combination of all the track lengths. If you make more than one CD with the track lengths the same, it will think they are the same CD.

  • Is there any exposure to recent "heartbleed" in osx 10.6.8 or safari 5.1    d" bug in

Is there any exposure to recent "heartbleed" bug in osx 10.6.8 or safari 5.1?

    See: https://github.com/musalbas/heartbleed-masstest/blob/master/top1000.txt
    and
    http://www.cnet.com/news/how-to-protect-yourself-from-the-heartbleed-bug/
Heartbleed is an SSL package, it's a web protocol, not the computer.
The problem exists with an open source software package that some websites use to establish SSL connections. There is no patch to be issued for your computer. The vulnerability exists on the websites themselves. Yahoo was among the sites with the problem but it has been fixed already.

  • Display trouble on OSX

    Hello,
I have a bug on OSX. Check this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJe1V7wbQg0
    I have a white macbook 13". Core duo 2ghz. Intel GMA 950 (0x27a2)
I think it's because of the configuration or inter graphic card driver but i don't understand why.
This bug doesn't appear when i zoom. It's only when the cursor is on the left of the screen. There is no bug on windows.
    Any clue ?
    Thanks

I tried to install Kalyway 10.5.2. Installation work great. Unlike the official one, i haven't ANY BUG. Unfortunatly i can't boot after the installation complete. I got this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHHvUmp8BJ4
So how can the unofficial installation work and not the official one ?
    Thanks

  • Nav Services Open Dialogue Bug

TextWrangler 2.1.3 and OSX 10.4.7 result in sporadic TW crashes when opening files within TW.
I sent BareBones the crash log, and they said it is a known bug in OSX Nav Services, and occurs with any app using the Open dialogue.
I'm experiencing about 4 crashes a day using TW, whereas before the last update it was only about 4 a year.
To confirm it wasn't my system, I did a complete reinstall from scratch using the Apple DVDs, and remaking all my preferences and pw by hand.
    The bug is still there.
Question: When will Apple fix this so that excellent apps like BBEdit and TW can run smoothly without this annoying bug.
Will it be fixed for Tiger users on the next update?
    Please Apple, it's very irritating.

    By way of a bump, here's what BareBones said about this OSX bug;
"Nav Services is part of Mac OS X, and this is a known bug in that part of the system. [It] may occur randomly any time you use the Open dialog. It's certainly possible that this bug could be fixed, but since it's in the system, that isn't something we can do; it will have to be addressed by Apple."

  • Pages PDF documents does not open in another computer?

Pages documents which I export to PDF does not open in another computer (Mac or PC).
my computer is macbookpro and earlier everything worked fine.
    Pages is 4.05 version.
    Thanks!

There is a bug in OSX 10.6.7 which damages pdf files using PostScript OpenType fonts.
You will need to go back to the earlier OSX 10.6.6 by reinstalling from your Installer DVDs.
Or only use TrueType OpenType fonts. Get info in FontBook to find out which is which.

  • How do reset my Safari / Chrome security settings? I can't do anything now like banking, accessing email..

    Hi there
I've updates to Mavericks and all was well but since then the security settings have gone a bit strange and I can't access secure websites - it just hangs at the initial logon or to get to the next stage of a log on, ie banking, email etc
Can anyone help, its driving me mad.
    Mike

Seeing a bunch of SSL related posts today so is likely a bug in OSX 10.9 but probaby not fixable until a fix is released.

  • Interface slow/buggy with two user accounts?

I've recently created a second user account on my 2009 27" iMac and ever since I've been having weird things happening, such as flash videos in safari becoming unresponsive (literally frozen) untill I move the safari window, which gets the video to play for a few more seconds, then it freezes again... Also, GarageBand does the same thing, when I press play I hear my music, but the play head freezes in place after a few seconds and the only way to get it to move again is to jiggle the GarageBand window, switch to another Space and switch back or press CMD ALT ESC to bring up the force quit menu (not actually force quitting the application, just the action of bringing up the menu is enough to get GarageBand to refresh and start playing again...). These methods also work with safari.
Quitting and reopening the applications doesn't fix the problem and restarting the computer brings temporary relief, but it always comes back. Sometimes safari is open on both user accounts, that might be causing the problem, I'm not sure. I do know that it started at the same time I created a second account.
So whats going on? I'm thinking it's maybe a graphical issue? I've tried doing a permissions and disk repair and while my hard drive was found corrupt, the repair didn't seem to make a difference. Is my only option here to delete the second account? Would that even work? Or is a trip to the apple store in order? I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this issue since ive never come across a bug in OSX that I couldn't fix myself!
    Thanks

A trip might be in order but not yet. First run software update, if your profile is correct you're a version behind as 10.6.8 is current, there may neither updates as well. Second reset the SMC and pram
    To reset the SMC
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
    To reset PRAM/NVRAM
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • External Hard Drive Won't Mount

I've got a new 500GB Toshiba external hard drive, connected to my computer via a USB. The first time I connected it, it showed up just fine, but after ejecting it, and connecting it again, it doesn't show up in Finder. I've gone to Disk Utility, and it does *show up* there; however, I can't verify or repair it (the buttons are all greyed out.) What can I do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I am having this exact same problem with a WD hard drive, it was improperly dismounted from a Mac and i'm pretty sure the data is ok, but the partition table is corrupted. I tried diskwarrior and some other utilities without any success, although testdisk (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk) was able to read the drive and could see the data, i do not have another drive to back it up to. In fact i have this exact same problem with 2 external hard drives, caused by the same thing, is anyone aware of this being a recurring bug in OSX 10.4.11? One would think that Macs being such user friendly machines they would not be so prone to causing major problems on a routine bad dismount... My windows XP machine recognized the drive, and started to mount it but hung partway through the mounting process. I will check back if i find a solution, and please if you could post any breakthroughs you might have it would be appreciated. Good luck!
