Build 9860

I Installed build 9860 today and now I can't see my shared folders anymore.
It should appear on network windowsguests but there is nothing.
It always worked before but fails now.

Did you check to see if the update installation un-shared them?  It DOES wipe out some settings.
Maybe all you need to do is re-share them as you did before?

  • Install build# 9860 error 0x80240016

    hi
I am trying to install build 9860 from my Windows 10 build 9841 although I receive the error bellow, I have tried the installation many times.
"Failed to install the new preview build. Please try again later. 0x80240016"

    Hi ErfanTaheri,
For this kind of issue, there would be many reasons to cause this failure. To find the reason, we can check the following log file:
    C:\$windows~BT\Source\Panther\setupact.log
Here we can get an information about the failure.

  • Getting error 0x80248008 updating from build 9860 to 9879

I have build 9860, and I'm trying to update to the newer build:
In the Preview Builds UI, I click Install now
Within about 5 seconds it fails and displays the message "Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80248008" (screenshot below).
Rebooting doesn't help. Any suggestion about what to try to fix this?
    thanks!
    David

Assuming that you have all windows updates installed.....
Would you care to do a clean install by downloading build 9879 Enterprise ISO, burn it to a bootable DVD or Flash Drive and then install ? Enterprise version has everything in a non- enterprise version plus a few extra features geared towards business
people. You don't have to use them at all.
I am using it now ...... in my home computer.
If that is acceptable, here are the links :

  • Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860

After restart is Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860 update will resume ?

    Hi,
From my observation, if I click download now, it would create a BITS task:
We can use following command to check:
    Import-module bitstransfer
    Get-bitstransfer –allusers
From the output, we can see the system account created a BITS job for transferring, under the C:\Windows\Software Distribution\download, we can get the temporary downloaded file, which is approximately about 2.5G.
After we restart, and go to C:\Windows\Software Distribution\download, the temporary file is gone.
If I click the download again, the BITS would create a new task, a new temporary file, if we compare the JobIds of the two times downloading, they are totally different.

  • Error after upgrade to build 9860

    After updating to build 9860
account appears on the home screen ( in the Welcome window )
    double image of the user.
    thanks

    Hi alpha45,
Similar issue has been discussed in forums for many times.
After the upgrade, users may encounter two logon picture, or there is no logon screen, no place to enter the password. Sometimes
switch user could bring the logon screen back, usually folks do a PC refresh, which would get the logon screen to work normally.
Please take a try to switch user or Refresh the PC, and then check if issue insists.
Besides, take use of Windows feedback tool to report this issue.

  • SharePoint constantly refreshed on Build 9860

Since upgrading to build 9860, when I use IE to access SharePoint in Office365, the page refreshes between 6-10 times every time you load or refresh a page.  So far, I've only seen this behavior in SharePoint.  When I use Chrome, I don't get
the page refresh behavior, so it's IE specific.  I have turned off the MetaRefresh feature in the IE settings and the behavior did not go away.  Anyone else experience this?

  • Update to build 9860?

I assume there is going to be a realease of the build 9860 for the server preview as well, like the client. I see in PC Settings no option, will it be a new iso, or package through regular Windows Update?

    Hi,
According to my test, it seems like the PC settings in windows server preview can not work correctly.
Please focus on the MS official website.
    Regards.

Could you give a more concise answer, perhaps?

    Hi,
    Apologize for that.
It seems it would work at my side. holding the left mouse key and then drag the window to the left or right edge, then the border would show up and displayed as below when drop the mouse:
Also Win + arrow keys would work here:
No more actions have been done at my side, just leave this machine running.
Edit: Also worked with a reboot.

  • Win 10 TP for enterprise build 9860

win 10 TP for Enterprise build 9860 can not activate now, try again later. how can I get it activated?

    Hi,
Based on what I know, Window 10 Technical Preview will be activated automatically when we  have Internet connection.
Please check if the following steps would help in your scenario:
    1. Open Administrative command prompt (Windows key+x > A)
    2. Type: SLUI 3
    3. Enter the product key Microsoft provided for recovery scenarios: PBHCJ-Q2NYD-2PX34-T2TD6-233PK
If the above steps won’t work, please try to rebuild the Tokens.dat file with the following steps:
    1. net stop sppsvc
    2. cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WSLicense
    3. ren tokens.dat tokens.bar
    4. net start sppsvc
    5. cscript.exe %windir%\system32\slmgr.vbs /rilc
    6. After that, try to activate Windows again using the SLUI command.
If still can't activate Windows, please consider to make a phone call to Microsoft:

  • Update from build 9860 to 9879 breaks permissions

After windows 10 applied the update from Build 9860 to 9879, I have experienced a host of problems that appear to be due to broken filesystem permissions caused by the update process itself -:
    # Onedrive keeps crashing when asking to configure itself
    # Modern UI apps all fail to load with the "application does not support the contract specified" or stating Windows cannot find ""
Trying to fix the filesystem permissions also seems to make things worse -:
    # You cannot change/modify permissions at all on C:\Program Files
    # Trying to restore the C:\Users permissions as suggested in a Miscrosoft document to fix Modern UI apps causes even more permission problems, such as Internet explorer not functioning. I have had to give my user account explicit full control on the
folder to even be able to use the PC at all.
It would be good if Microsoft could provide a "FixIt" to correctly set the permissions on these locations, but more importantly fixed the update process to not break them in the first place.

I did a reinstall which was working OK - until I installed the visual studio c++ runtime(s). I have installed the 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013 ones but am unsure which has caused this breakage but am now getting the same contract messages and am
unable to launch any metro apps again?

  • Stuck at "Setting up a few more things 100%" when upgrading to build 9860

    Hello everyone,
I'm currently running Windows 10 Technical Preview, installed from the setup.exe (so not from a bootable disc/USB-stick), which does work better than I expected. Of course there are many bugs and other problems under the hood, but so far I haven't found
    big issues so far.
Unfortunately, when I try to install the latest build - build 9860 - it keeps hanging at 'Setting up a few more things 100%'. That's really strange, since '100%' should mean it's actually done. I've done about five attempts, none of them resulted in anything
better. After a few attempts, I thought I had to install some updates through Windows Update first, so I did. But after that, installing build 9860 still didn't want to install properly.
Anyone who can help me with this?
Just some key information about the notebook I'm using, in it's necessary:
    ASUS N56VB-S4061H
2.4 GHz quad Intel Core i7-3630QM
    6 GB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce GT740M

    Hi DutchTom18,
You can try uninstall anti-virus software that has been installed after installation of Windows 10.

  • New build 9860 discards all installed 64bit programs

    Hi!
After  installing the new build 9860 the "Program" folder is cleared. All previously user installed programs are discarded. I tried it two times with the same results. 32bit programs were kept.
    Any ideas?
    Regards

    Hi gogosch,
Sometimes, when you perform upgrade, it would check the compatibility issue first, if it detects something would prevent upgrade, it would remove the problematical applications.
Currently, we did many tests on upgrade, this is the probable reason for your situation.
Or if it is possible, can you give us some samples of 64 bit application, I would like to perform a test to confirm this issue.
