BUILD WINDOW in Weblogic Workshop IDE
I acciendly closed the build window. I tried to click "View - Windows - Build Alt+5"
option. No use. I guess it must be hiddlen or very tiny between some windows,
I could not be able to figure it out.
Is there any config file for me to remove the current setting and go back to original
default setting?
Any other help please? Much appreciated.
Prashanth,
I suggest posting this message in the weblogic.developer.interest.workshop.extensibility groups.

Weblogic WorkShop IDE does not start
My weblogic workshop IDE was working until today. When I try opening it up, nothing happens. It doesn't open up or show me any error messages. I don't even know where to begin trouble shooting. Any ideas?
Thanks.
gtata
Edited by gtata at 12/10/2007 3:38 PMI reproduced this problem on my 2 CPU x86 laptop with Solaris 11,
and I think I know what is the root of the problem.
It seems to be a scheduling problem. If I run these "cpu-eating"
programs without setting priority, prstat shows that they get high priority:
PID USERNAME SIZE RSS STATE PRI NICE TIME CPU PROCESS/NLWP
6449 nikm 1448K 768K run 10 0 0:17:04 50% loop_sqrt_1/1
6637 nikm 1448K 768K cpu0 10 0 0:12:19 49% loop_sqrt_1/1
They both have PRI=10, NICE=0. As a result they do not allow java
to get enough cpu time to start Sun Studio IDE, because it runs with
lower priority: PRI=59, NICE=0
6680 nikm 311M 26M run 59 0 0:00:00 0.0% java/13
If I run these "cpu-eating" programs with a specified low priority,
everything works just fine, and Sun Studio IDE starts without
any problems. Try to run them using "nice -20":
nice -20 loop_sqrt_1 &
nice -20 loop_sqrt_1 &
sunstudio &
Perhaps we shall set priority in the "sunstudio" script to avoid such conflicts.

Thanks for the compliment!
At the current time, BEA is not planning to release the workshop look and
feel to third parties, or make it available via open source. However, its
all standard swing code -- just a lot of custom drawn controls!
In a later release we may open up these libraries to partners who want to
work closely with the Workshop environment.

Workshop IDE for WebLogic Platform - JSF Portlet Development
Hello,
I am trying to develop JSF based portlets using BEA Workshop for WebLogic Platform IDE. The capabilities of the IDE in terms of JSF is like a simple text editor. Since the IDE is eclipse based, I wanted to to use some Third Party Plugin for JSF development.
I evaluated the following:
1. Workshop Studio for JSF
2. MyEclipse PlugIn for JSF
Problem 1:
Workshop Studio for JSF is a separate product and cannot be installed as an plugin over the Workshop IDE.
Is this acheivable?
Problem 2:
I created a Portal application Workspace through Workshop for Platform and opened the same using Workshop Studio for JSF. It crashed saying some runtime exceptions.
Problem 3:
MyEclipse PlugIn for JSF doesnt integrate properly with Workshop IDE. The Faces navigational flow view is not working properly.
Questions:
1. What is BEA's recommendation for JSF development?
2. Can you guide me how other developers are using the IDE for JSF development?
Thanks and regards,
Pazhanikanthan. PHi Pazhanikanthan,
Unfortunately, in the current release the JSF features cannot be used to create JSF portlets.
Please check the following URL for additional information on JSF portlet creation
http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs92/portlets/building.html#wp1062147
If you are planning on building JSF web applications, you can always evaluate and purchase a copy of Workshop for JSF or Workshop Studio.
if you are planning on building JSF based pportlets, you will need to sue the tooling provided by Workshop for WebLogic 9.2
Applications built in Workshop for WebLogic cannot be imported into Workshop Studio. On the other hand, you can always create a webapp in Workshop Studio,a nd then import it into Workshop for WebLogic as a component.
hope this helps.
cheers
Raj
If you have additional questions specific to portlet development, please post to the portal newsgroup at http://newsgroups.bea.com/bea/forum.jspa?forumID=2044 -
Is weblogic workshop a java IDE?
Hello,
I am trying to evaluate the usage of weblogic workshop as an IDE (Integrated Development
Environment) for my J2EE component development. I am not using webservices at
this time and will not be using them in future also. I need an IDE with good editor,
compiler (java classes, servlets, JSPs and EJBs), debugger, having features to
step thru bugs. Will weblogic workshop suit this need or is it only for webservices
development?
ThanksIf you are looking for a general purpose J2EE IDE, BEA has a partnership
with Borland to resell its JBuilder product. That is what we recommend.
Workshop is designed to make it easy to build and deploy enterprise-class
web services on WebLogic Server and is focused on providing a framework,
"above the api" approach to doing so. If you are looking for a general
purpose tool JBuilder is the way to go.

Pop Up windows - Apache Beehive Vs Weblogic workshop
Hi,
I was going through this open source project called Beehive by apache.
and they have a very much similar model of pageflows as weblogic workshop using struts and netui tag library.
But, their netui tag library has more tags and options too.
I was wondering how are pop up windows dealt with in Workshop.
Apache Beehive uses netui:button tag with popup attribute, netui:configurePopUp tag etc to support popup windows.
you can find it here :
http://incubator.apache.org/beehive/pageflow/popupWindows.html
Does Weblogic workshop have a similar model ??
I am having problems with pop up windows using workshop.
i am not able to communicate child pageflow with parent pageflow without errors.
If any body has successfully used popup windows in workshop please share your experiences.
thanks,
DV.In WLS 9.0, BEA will use Beehive. Beehive is a lot more powerful then the current page flow implementation in BEA.

Change default IDE from Oracle JBuilder to WebLogic Workshop
On my Windows 2000 system, Oracle JBuilder opens when I double-click
java code. Anybody know do I change the default so that WebLogic
Workshop opens instead?
Thx
TomEeach version of weblogic comes bundled with a specific version of Oracle thin driver . You Can either use that or you have the option of downloading the latest thin driver from Oracle and put it before weblogic.jar in the classpath so weblogic will use that latest version of the driver
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc_112010.html has all the latest drivers
Thin drivers from oracle are deisgned to work with specific JDK eg ojdbc5 and ojdbc6 files so these may restrict you
JDBC code will also need some changes (some package names have chnaged for 11.2.0.1 version of teh driver which we used during our upgrade) -
How to create our own XML Schema (.xsd) in Weblogic WorkShop
Hi,
I am new to Weblogic Workshop.I want to create one xml schema with custom elements.
when I am creating a file xml schema(.xsd).The file contains default namespace and no child elements in it.I don't know how to add elements to that file.
please tell me how to add parent elements and child elements and also our own xml namingspace.Hi Sivaram,
Unfortunately, the 8.1 IDE did not have special tooling for schema generation.
You will need to create it by hand or using an external tool
If you are using an external tool to create the file within the schema project, you might want to disable the schema project auto build, which will be triggered every time a file save takes place

Building EAR for WebLogic 8.1 with Eclipse plugin
I am developing an EJB app for deployment in WebLogic, JBoss and Sun ONE. I use plugins for JBoss and Sun ONE, with the help of XDoclet, and have no problem creating the required XML and JAR files. However, the WebLogic Workshop creates many files, like oztplsEOImpl.java, oztp1sHomeImpl.java, Hello_oztp1s_EOImplRTD.xml and many others, while the Eclipse plugin only creates the Home and Remote interface .java files, and the prerequisite .xml files (ejb-jar.xml, weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, and weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml).
Why is that? And how can I build/package the EAR file from within Eclipse, without using WebLogic tools? I am trying to maintain a single codebase, with multiple XDoclet tags to create the appropriate interfaces and XML files. So far, I could achieve this for JBoss and Sun ONE, but it seems to be impossible for WebLogic.
Thanks for any enlightenment.
Alex MolochnikovIt is quite easy to rewrite the plugin to work with 8.1
We have done so - please contact me if you want the plugin.

Paul Nyheim

Problem in creating a build.xml for weblogic portal application
Team ,
I am facing problem in creating the build.xml using weblogic.BuildXMLGEN tool .
a) Below is the structure of my portal application
SrcCode
--- .metadata (eclipse plugins folder)
--- B2BApp ( Ear Content)
--- b2bPortal ( portal related file(controllers,jsp)
--- b2bsrc (java src)
b) Now I executed below utility to generate the build.xml "
java weblogic.BuildXMLGen -projectName B2BApp -username weblogic -file build.xml -password welcome1 F:\srcCode"
c) Based on the above step , build.xml got generated .
d) when I execute "ant compile" target from the command prompt , I see the below exception
ant compile
Buildfile: build.xml
compile:
+[wlcompile] [JAM] Warning: failed to resolve class AbstractJspBacking+
+[wlcompile] [JAM] Error: unexpected exception thrown:+
+[wlcompile] com.bea.util.jam.internal.javadoc.JavadocParsingException: Parsing failure in F:\b2bNew\b2bPortal\src\portlets\b2b\dmr\Picker\PickerController.java at line 58.+
e) I suspect , the problem is bcoz of classpath issues , as I generated build.xml donot have the references to dependent lib's.As build.xml looks like below :
+<target name="compile" description="Only compiles B2BApp application, no appc">+
+<wlcompile srcdir="${src.dir}" destdir="${dest.dir}">+
+<!-- These referenced libraries were not found -->+
+<!-- <library file="p13n-core-web-lib" /> -->+
+<!-- <library file="jersey-web-lib" /> -->+
+.....+
+....+
Please help me to reslove these issues .
PS: I able to deploy the application using 10.3.2 weblogic workshop ( i.e inbuilt eclipse )i JaySen ,
thanks for your response. As mentioned we added all the necessary library within the -librarydir but still we see the same error :
+[JAM] Error: unexpected exception thrown:+
com.bea.util.jam.internal.javadoc.JavadocParsingException: Parsing failure in F:\b2bNew\b2bPortal\src\portlets\typeAhead\TypeAheadController.java at line 70. Most likely, an annotation is declared whose type has not been imported.

===================
a) this is a upgrade project [ upgrading from wlp 8.1.4 to 10.3.2 ]
i.e we are using weblogic portal 10.3.2 version.
b) Searched some sites/forums regarding the above error, and it says something related to "jwsc" ant task [ i.e while compiling a webservice(JWS) ], but we see this error while compiling a normal controller(jpf) class :(
c) we are using "ant compile" target which internally calls wlcompile task , while executing wlcompile this error is thrown .
Help Appreciated
Thx,

Error while generating ear using ant script in weblogic workshop 10
In my application I have to create a ear file which should have the war file inside.
I have created the build.xml for both ear application and web application, workshop.xml using weblogic workshop option
File->export->WorkshopAntScripts
I have been using the following command to execute the build.xml in EARApp(ear application)
set the environment variables by running
D:\bea\wlserver_10.0\common\bin\commEnv.cmd
then
D:\Source_Code\EARApp>ant clean build archive -Dworkspace="D:\Source_Code"
I am getting the following error,

Some one help me solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.--> some error on posting please refer to the next post...
From the error logs we can trace it out to the web project's Build.xml file ....I was getting a similar error and by commenting out the following lines in the web project's Build.xml I am able to run the build script correctly and get a EAR file. The lines are
<!--
<assemble
moduleDir="${generated.module.root}"
moduleName="${project.name}"
srcOutputDir="${assembly.src}"
appRootDir="${ear.root}">
<assemblyContext factory="org.apache.beehive.controls.runtime.assembly.WebAppAssemblyContext$Factory" />
<assemblyContext factory="org.apache.beehive.controls.runtime.assembly.AppAssemblyContext$Factory" />
<classpath refid="assembly.classpath" />
<fileset dir="${project.dir}">
<include name="**/*.controls.properties" />
</fileset>
</assemble>
-->
Please check it now, also if any one can let us know the function or role played by the above lines it would be great. Also if there would be any future or unseen problems by commenting out these lines please do let us know...
Thanks

Error while building code in Weblogic Integration 9.2 MP3
Hi,
I upgarded my code from Weblogic 8.1 sp4 to 9.2 MP3 directly.
Weblogic 9.2 MP3 automatically converts all the .jpd, .jcx files to .java extensions.
While building the code in Workshop,I got the following error:
Interfaces such as com.x.y.z cannot be instantiated and unmarshalled from XML
(here "x.y.z.." are custom built interfaces)
I added the following jar: oc4j_extended_101340.zip, but that didn't solve the problem.
Please help!!Sorry, I cannot reveal x, y, z -- they are just custom built files.
Again, the error reported is:
Interfaces such as com.x.y.z. cannot be instantiated and unmarshalled from XML.
