Build with APEX Logo?

Hi All APEX fans,
I like APEX RAD tool and I would like to promote it and publish any APEX logo on my site to inform visitors that it is build with APEX.
Is there any logo available? Somethink like "The Web was build with APEX", or "APEX Powered" would be nice.
Thanks,
AB

Hi Mux,
I think the "APEX Powered" logo should be provided by Oracle as well as is the free XE database and APEX RAD. It is all about marketing & publicity, and I would like to publish the APEX Powered logo on all sites using it - of course if the logo is available and could be used free of charge.
Just now, only Oracle specialists know about APEX and nobody out of Oracle community will use APEX for WEB development or think about the Oracle database on the Web.
So, my idea was to help APEX with the publicity and I think all of us should think about it because APEX is really great tool for quick WEB development.
have a nice day!

  • Integrate Oracle Chart Builder into APEX

    I'm lost with the current limitations of APEX charts. Does any one have any idea on how to integrate Oracle Chart Builder with APEX.
    Thanks
    Amar

    Hi Jes,
    What I want to do is generate a chart dynamically. Ok, let me explain a bit more.
    I have a page which has a field say category. Now based on this category a report is generated (on another page say page2) when user clicks sumbit. The sql query which generates the report changes with the categories selected i.e. there is variation in the where clause or the base table.
    Now on this report I want to plot a graph (in the same page2). Is it possible to dynamically change the chart query also like the report query ?
    I was also thinking if it was possible to get the data directly from the report generated something like
    SELECT NULL LINK,
    #ENAME# LABEL,
    #SAL# VALUE
    FROM DUAL
    ORDER BY #ENAME#
    Thanks

  • How to build a BOM app with apex?

    Hi ,
    From long time i am wondering to design and build a Bill of Material application(or module) for my apex application, it is lacking that kind of feature and we desperately need it.
    But I just don't know how to get started, how to design the database objects, and how to make it shine with apex,
    we are a small manufacture of mechanical parts/products.
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

    Then you're going to need to learn Objective-C, the concepts of object oriented programming, and a whole ton more.  Xcode is just a tool used to write and manage a software project.
    To learn to program, you must first get the compiler which you use to write and test programs.  Thus you need to get a copy of Xcode from Apple's developer site.
              * Find a book on xcode.  Be sure to get a book that covers the current version of xcode.  But before getting far into xcode, you must ...
    Next, you must learn the programming language used to create mac and iOS programs.
              * Read the book "Programming in Objective-C", By Stephen G. Kochan
              * Find a book on xcode.  Be sure to get a book that covers the current version of xcode.
    Next learn about Cocoa, the graphical environment and other support libraries that you need for OSX and iOS.
              * There are many books on this, check ratings and evaluations at Amazon books.
    Once you have the basics, you really need to learn the technicals of programming, like design patterns, algorithms, data structures, concurrent processes.
              * University or college courses
              * Textbooks used in these courses, if you want to do it on your own.
    Although computer science majors at the college level take 4 years to learn their trade, the first three semesters cover the important basic topics of programming.  If you can take a course in Programming 1 at a local school that will get you started.  You can certainly do it on your own, but programming can be a frustrating trip and working with others is very helpful.

  • Apex 4.2.2 PDF Printing with Apex 2.0 Listener

    We recently installed Apex 4.2 with the Apex 2.0 Listener and can successfully print interactive reports and classic reports to PDF.  I viewed Mark Sewtz PDF Printing with Apex 4.2.2 and saw how he is using third party tools to format reports.  We have also looked into the Jasper Report Integration Toolkit, but have only got it working on the Tomcat environment, not WebLogic.
    I'm trying to download a classic report in PDF format with our logo displayed at the header.  In the print attributes section, there is a section for header.  I've tried adding the following in the header section:
    <img src = "http://hr.unm.edu/common/images/unm_dept_logo.gif">
    No Logo Prints
    #APP_IMAGES#unm_dept_logo.gif
    Prints in header:
    wwv_flow_file_mgr.get_file?
    p_security_group_id=3930016164431413%26p_flow_id=106%26p_fname=unm_dept_logo.gif
    #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#unm_dept_logo.gif
    Prints in header: /i/unm_dept_logo.gif
    I've also added the logo in the report region, prior to the columns printing, but no logo downloads to PDF.
    Does the Apex Listener only render text?  Is there any way to get the logo to print in the header without using a third party tool?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi,
    There are different options to include images in your PDF exports. What's important to understand though is that with the PDF export functionality we separate the formatting from the actual data. So the formatting is defined in your RTF or XSL-FO templates and the data is stored in the XML that APEX generates based on your report data. We have several formatting options exposed on the print attributes pages, i.e. you can define page formatting, dimensions, fonts, colors, etc - all of these are applied to what we call generic XSL-FO templates. Those templates are generic in that they can be used with different reports, having variable numbers of columns and variable column names. Those formatting attributes can not be used however with named column templates, such as those that you generate with BI Publisher or those third-party tools I talked about in my Blog.
    So if you want to use these formatting options, you need a generic report layout - which you get out of the box using the built-in layout. But you also have the option to create your own generic report layout (see Shared Components -> Report Layouts). When creating a custom generic report layout, you'll get a copy of the built-in layout as a starting point. Once created, you can manually modify this layout to meet your needs. As you edit this template, you'll find a number of #....# substitution strings. This is what APEX uses at runtime to fill in your formatting values as well as to assemble your generic layout based on your result set.
    Now one way to include your own image would be to add an image reference to this generic report layout. You can't use the page header or footer attributes on the print attributes page for that because the FOP rendering engine does not understand or translate HTML. It renders XSL-FO. So to add your own image reference, you need to use XSL-FO mark-up. If you want to add an image to your page header, look for the #PAGE_HEADER# substitution string in the "Page Template" attribute of your generic report layout. You should be able to find the following:
    <fo:inline xsl:use-attribute-sets="page-header">
        #PAGE_HEADER#
    </fo:inline>
    Now assuming you have a file stored in your local images directory on localhost, you could add the following external graphic reference:
    <fo:inline xsl:use-attribute-sets="page-header">
        <fo:external-graphic src="http://localhost:8080/i/cloud.gif" content-height="scale-to-fit" height="30px"  content-width="150px" scaling="non-uniform"/>
        #PAGE_HEADER#
    </fo:inline>
    Once you're done with your chanages, save the report layout and edit your report. Go to the print attributes and select your generic report layout and then run your report page and export the PDF. Provided the APEX Listener is able to find this external image reference, it will now be included above your report in your PDF document.

    Marc

  • Can XML Publisher 5.6.3(EBS) be integrated with APEX?

    On the following document, XMP Publisher 5.6.2 does not support integration with APEX. May I know about 5.6.3? Or is it about the product being an add-on with EBS causing the non-support to integration(meaning, even 5.6.3 is not supported)?
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html
    Thanks,
    Rownald

    APEX integrates with the standalone version of BI Publisher. There was not a server component with the standalone 5.6.3 release. The integration relies on publisher providing a servlet for APEX to communicate with, 5.6.3 does not have this.
    If you are talking 5.6.3 under EBS then I guess you could build a servlet on the mid tier that called the BIP conversion APIs - it would all be custom work.
    The APEX integration needs 10.1.3.2 BIP to work with out of the box.

  • Aligning APEX logo image to the right

    I've been poking around a number of places trying to get my logo image to align to the right of the page rather than the left to no avail. It can't be that difficult and hoping someone can shed some light on the subject. I am using the "Red" standard theme.

    JESHello JES
    I think you need to take a look at HTML Code which is displayed on the web browser for you..
    a tool such as FIREBUG can be of great assistance to you and help you more on this matter..
    but what ever you do i think it will be very hard for you...if you try modifying existing CSS classes on the MASTER TEMPLATE...
    how about looking at the MASTER TEMPLATE of your theme and make changes on it...
    if i were you i would make an extra TABLE ROW on the template...
    like the following...
    <table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" summary="">
    <tr>
    <!-- APEX allows comments just like normal HTML page..been a while since i worked with APEX so i do not remember the tags correctly -->
    <td class="rightLogo"><img src="#IMAGE_WORKSPACE#imageName.jpg" /></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td valign="top" class="t1Logo">#LOGO##REGION_POSITION_06#</td>
    <td valign="top" width="100%">#REGION_POSITION_07#</td>
    <td align="right" valign="top">#NAVIGATION_BAR##REGION_POSITION_08#</td>
    </tr>
    </table>by doing the above..then you have complete control of your image logo and where you can position it on the browser...
    I hope this helps...

  • How to upgrade db10g xe with APEX 2.1 to APEX 3.2

    Hello
    I have been using oracle db10g xe to learn oracle as i am new to it which according to oracle contains APEX 2.1. according to oracle that syas:
    Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Oracle Database XE) includes Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX) release 2.1. With the release of Oracle Application Express 3.2, you can now upgrade the Application Express within your Oracle Database XE.
    (The URL for above statement is::: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.2_and_xe.html)
    As a part of upgrade from APEX 2.1 to 3.2 one of the requirement is:
    Choosing an HTTP Server
    In order to run, Oracle Application Express **must** have access to either the embedded PL/SQL gateway or Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql.
    (The URL for above stataement is::: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/install.310/e10496/otn_install.htm#CBHBDAIF)
    As it mentioned in the url above the embedded PL/SQL gateway only available with Oracle Database 11g or higher but I have db 10g xe and as it mentioned in oracle web site. (first url) the db 10g xe can be upgraded to APEX 3.2.
    That leave me with Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql as a MUST have component but nowhere in the documentation mentions where and how to get it and install it in oracle db 10g xe which i've been using.
    Please help me to resolve this issue because without it i can't upgrade from APEX 2.1 (within db 10g xe) to APEX 3.2.
    it's been two days that i have been reading all the docs but it doesn't says where to get Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql with installation guide.
    Please let me know how can i upgrade to new APEX 3.2 as i don't want to lose db 10g xe and start all over with 11g.
    Please put URL or your finding about upgrading from APEX 2.1 to APEX 3.2 here.
    Thank you for your help.
    Shawn

    Hi
    Sure. i will.
    the installation instruction at the link i posted before is missing two major steps where you must first create two tablespace as:
    tablespace_apex
    tablespace_files
    The instruction i put its url previously perhaps is very high level but the best step-by-step instruction i did and worked charmingly right after installation can be found at:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/SanthoshK/2008/09/oracle_xe_apex_3x_installation.html
    Please do me a favor and take a look at my problem with APEX 3.2 developer guide\tutorial.
    I posted a thread under Application Express link in forums's home. (3 link from top).
    my thread can be found at >>> PLEASE SOMEONE TAKE LOOK AT THIS! APEX 3.2 - error in OEHR build in sample.
    Please help me out with this one as i am doing exercises in dev guide and thought those exercises are error-free.
    the exercise is at >>>> http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28551/build_app.htm
    under: Modifying the Departments Report
    as soon as i copy past the code to Source box of the Department it gives me error pasted in my thread.
    even if i copy past the code in SQL Workshop it doesn't work. it says: table can't be parsed.
    even tonight i proceeded further and was doing the second exercise in same url for:
    Editing the Employees Report.
    I copy past the given code to Source box but this time the report doesn't show new result. seems like a change doesn't take effect even i logout and in back.
    even in SQL Workshop it works but in running the page 3. employees it doesn't show changes at all.
    sorry for not being short but since i'm new to Oracle i don't want to skip information.
    thanks a lot.

  • Building an APEX app that connects to DB2/UDB

    I have NO experience with APEX but - have been browsing the documentation in considering it's use as a web application/dashboard reporting utility.
    However - I'm wondering if it allows for the ability to connect to DB2 as well as Oracle...
    i.e. - building a form that allows a user to 'pull' data for analysis from a DB2 instance and - generate reporting results that would then be stored in an Oracle instance.
    I apologize if this has been answered - or was answered in some obvious way that I missed in the documentation.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    It requires the use of an Oracle database. If you want to use heterogeneous services services to communicate with an external non-Oracle database, you may be able to do it. But if you have no need for an Oracle db, and just want a dashboard solution for DB2, this is really not the product for you.
    I say it requires the use of an Oracle database because it runs off of database packages written only in pl/sql, thus can't port to other databases.
    In this case you'd probably want to use php or something that can connect to multiple data sources.

  • Self service to eBusiness Suite with Apex?

    Is it possible to build a selfservice application for Oracle eBusiness Suite General Ledger with APEX?
    The solution should enable users to make journal entries/corrections without having to log in to the ebusiness suite and use the traditional journal entry screen in forms (it is non-frequent users).
    They want to use single sign on and ebusiness user and security.
    They want to enter an account combination and have the balance showed.
    They want to enter entry lines and have the account combination validated before sending it to GL interface and import.
    They want an easy development tool, not so "consulting-heavy"
    Is this possible with APEX? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    /Susanne

    Obsolutely possible. You can build the page and dump the records to GL interface table and call the GL import program to process it.
    I have done something similar to process Shipping Transactions.

  • Web based reporting engine integrated with APEX

    Hello,
    I would like to use some completely web-based reporting solution for my application. My idea is that I will create some datasource, prepare database query and publish some data columns to end users (datamodel). They will choose from many of prepared data areas, create their own report using some intuitive web-based report designer and save it. I do not need it for any analytic purposes, no dynamic filters, graphs and other widgets, no BI. It will be all only about building text based reports with few dynamic fields (customer address, actual date etc..).
    For example: User will prepare some document (template) with few paragraphs and add some of prepared dynamic fields into it (ie. company name, customer address, repeating table with list of employees, some image). Then he will be able to generate same document for many customers etc..
    I am looking for some simple, user friendly web based application. Some external report builder for example for Jasper reports is not what I am looking for.
    I will need to integrate it with  Oracle 11g XE with APEX 4.2 so some API or URL parameters is must.
    Used reporting engine does not be completely free, but I am able to pay max. $5000 for it
    Do you have some tips?
    Thank you

    This could be a solution for APEX reports (interactive reports). But I want to create more complex reports, not only table based reports.
    I need to create for example invoice report with some dynamic fields (customer, invoice items...), another report can be for example some contract about cooperation with some dynamic fields (contract number, personal information ...).
    These reports will be mostly only text based without any table. See example bellow. How would you generate this kind of letter?
    "Hello <CUSTOMER_NAME>, we would like to offer our new product <PRODUCT_NAME> to you..."
    Where CUSTOMER_NAME a PRODUCT_NAME are prepared fields (from some database tables). It will be something very similar to Microsoft Word automatic mailings. User can generate many text based reports and save them as PDF.
    I need to find some web based product, that will be simple for users and can be integrated with APEX.

    Hi Neil,
    It doesn't work for me, is there a workflow to inspect the storefront like on ipad with Safari? it will be helpfull to find the error... As I tell you I change the background color in the HTML file and it change well, but nothing else...
    FYI, the js files was already like that :
    var r = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase().indexOf("android") == -1 ? "?r=" + Math.random() : "";
      var jsFiles = [path + "js/app.js" + r,
        path + "js/controllers.js" + r,
                    path + "js/services.js" + r,

                    path + "js/Config.js" + r];
      var css = path + "styles.css?r=" + Math.random();
    I copy pas your code but it just remove the r var and the random, I don't think it's the problem...

  • XMLDB with Apex

    Hi,
    Has anyone used XML DB features with Apex? Any good examples? Thanks.

    probably to do this is the way have done this or automatically shred it into an OR XMLType table and build an XMLType view on it or use some trigger code to pass it into the objects you need.

  • Problems with apex 4.0 upgrade

    Hi,
    I have a pretty large application build in apex 3.1.2 that comes up with sereral errors after upgrading..
    First there is "popup key lov".. It cant return a value when clicked..
    Then there is updateable reports. It doesnt seem to work at all.. There is lots of errors regarding that one.
    What I was wondering is whether these problems will be solved in a patch or if we have to do it ourselves? It seems to be problems related to the template, so I guess it will be difficult to solve with patches?
    The app is build from theme: Blue Gray - 13 *
    We also use apexlib, which might also cause some of the problems I guess.

    Hi Patrick,
    I know its not much im giving you. The thing is we have the app installed in a developer server and a production server, and both of these are now running 3.1.2, since we couldnt get 4.0.1 to work. The customer who has both servers didnt want us to use too much time on the upgrade, so we had to downgrade the developer server again.
    So the following is only based on my memory.
    It is correct what is written above that the LOV is corrected by removing the apex_lib js file.
    when it comes to the updateable report I remember that the first thing I tried was to change some substitution variables in the Standard reports template. What i did was comparing the template to one of the new templates, and I saw some differences in the variable names. That did help some, but didnt solve all the problems. If I remember correctly, it made the add botton work again. And I beleive that a simple updateable report in our app started to work after this change, but the complex one didnt..
    I also tried to remove the old updateable report and replace it with the new one in apex 4. There is some new functionality there (add doesnt submit page f.x.). What happened then was that NO errors was reported at all, but nothing happened either when I submitted the page. The new lines in the report simply disappeared.
    After this the customer didnt want to spend any more time trying to upgrade, so we had to revert to 3.1.2. This was all done without the patch of apex 4. Then monday we tried upgrading again with the patch, and the problems seemed to be the same, so we quickly downgraded once again.
    What I could try to do is give you some of the code for the problematic page, if you think you can use it for anything? I can also give you an export of the template if you want that. Its based on Blue Gray - 13 from the first apex 3 release (I think)
    Thanks for listening

  • APEX Listener with APEX 3.0 on 11gR2

    Yes, I am crazy.
    We have many many APEX applications in APEX 3.0 running on a 10.2.0.4 database that needs desperately to be upgraded. As a test, I've set up a clean 11gR2 database and copied the production APEX database into it via datapump. I set up APEX Listener, as I don't have any OAS sitting around and the EPG doesn't seem to be supported for APEX 3.0... the Listener doesn't say one way or the other.
    When trying to log in, I get the login page, but it tries to reference files such as apex_get_3_1.js while I only have files such as htmldb_get.js in my images directory in production. I noticed it is looking for what appears to be 3.1 files instead of 3.0 files... which concerns me.
    The APEX listener appears to be more than just a Java PL/SQL gateway.
    Is there a minimum version of APEX the APEX Listener supports?
    Interested in pointers!
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
    Yes, I am crazy.Why would that be? ;)
    We have many many APEX applications in APEX 3.0 running on a 10.2.0.4 database that needs desperately to be upgraded. As a test, I've set up a clean 11gR2 database and copied the production APEX database into it via datapump. I set up APEX Listener, as I don't have any OAS sitting around and the EPG doesn't seem to be supported for APEX 3.0... the Listener doesn't say one way or the other.APEX 3.0 is supprted by EPG. See the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B32472_01/doc/install.300/b32468/post_inst.htm#CHDBEJDA]APEX 3.0 Installation Guide for details.
    APEX Listener is capable of hosting APEX 3.0 as well, though APEX 3.0 wasn't supported anymore when APEX Listener was initially released. The current APEX release at that time was 4.0, so this would be the first version to be known as really stable, whereas you won't get any support for older releases anymore. From personal experience I know that there are now issues with APEX 3.1 and APEX Listener, so it'll probably also work with 3.0.
    Concerning your database release, the minimum for APEX Listener is 10.2.0.3, so you're definetly safe on that part, though I'd recommend to upgrade as regular support for 10.2 databases ended.
    When trying to log in, I get the login page, but it tries to reference files such as apex_get_3_1.js while I only have files such as htmldb_get.js in my images directory in production. I noticed it is looking for what appears to be 3.1 files instead of 3.0 files... which concerns me.This indicates that your APEX would actually be a 3.1 and you should update you images directory.
    The APEX listener appears to be more than just a Java PL/SQL gateway.It is, but this has nothing to do with your 3.1 JS files, if this is why you stated this.
    Is there a minimum version of APEX the APEX Listener supports?As mentioned above, 4.0 would be a safe approach, but 3.1 will definetly work, 3.0 probably will as well. I'd recommend you find out which APEX version is actually installed on your database before you consider any upgrade operations. Run the following query as privileged user:
    SELECT comp_name, version, status
      FROM dba_registry
    WHERE comp_id = 'APEX';-Udo
