Building a new PC - transferring CS6

Hi,
I have been in a world of PC pain for several months. I am about to build a new PC. I will be starting from scratch to ensure I dont transfer any gremlins from the old box. What do I need to do in advance to ensure I have no problems using PS CS6 and Lightroom 5 on the new machine?
Thanks in advance.
David

In your new PC build I recommend that you get Kingston SSD drives for the scratch disk and set them at Raid 0. Kingston SSD's at 128GB run $80 which is $40 cheaper than Samsung. I would also say get SSDs for the Application and OS Layers so 4 SDDs total and use 2X 3TB HDD for your Data/Storage Layer.
I actually did a video on some things to consider when buying or building a Photoshop/Graphic Design Computer.
http://youtu.be/BypkjzYFfRg
The reason I recommend a 6 Drive configuration is that you are giving each layer its own internal bandwidth. If you think of data as lanes of traffic that cars have to travel on it makes a certain amount of sense, (geeks know this as I/O) so when your OS needs to handle something, its data has its own lane with nothing else on the road, when the applications need to read or write anything, they've got their own road too and the scratch disk is the off ramp or all temporary data created during the work session, and when you need to save/export files they have their own lane as well. You can also use the scratch disk space for paging memory and VRam.
Not to mention the failure of any single drive will not be catastrophic at all. In fact you can store a secondary operating system like Ubuntu on each drive so that there is not a likely condition under which the computer isn't bootable, usable and only a few minutes away from being back to its old self.

  • IS IT POSSIBLE 2 BUILD A NEW XML FROM DAMAGED ITL? SAVE FERRIS

OK. Here's my situation. I have an HP notebook running on VISTA. ITUNES version 8.1.1....... My computer shut off abruptly while I was running ITUNES and after I restarted it and started up Itunes, I got the damaged ITL message. No big deal, I still have all my songs in their designated folder and I'll just import the XML to get all my playlists back in action. I've done this at least 10 times already. Works like a charm everytime. Oh S#!T,... my XML was wiped out during the shut down. I have a program that can retrieve files after recycle bin deletion and the XML is no where to be found. SOOOOOO here's my questiion. When my computer S#!Ted in my cereal, it split my ITL into two seperate damged ITL's. One 32 MB and the other 14 MB. I know the XML is just a backup of the ITL and I frequently update my XML twice a week to make sure no B.S. could bestow it's bad self all up in my shizz. I just never figured to make a copy of the XML because everytime this has happened, the good XML was always there to use. (NOW I KNOW)Soooo, I need to know how to build an new XML from the two damaged itl's. That way I can just import the two new xml's and then save, thus making itunes create a new fresh XML from my two provided and restoring my itunes to it's original self. My problem is I can't get ITUNES to read my two damaged ITL's. Yes, I've done the name change method, no love. I tried the restart computer at a previous date and time method, didn't work. I tried the previous libraries folder and it's five moths old, which is a 10,000 song difference for me. So that way is useless. I even downloaded the same version of ITUNES that I run onto my home computer, which runs on XP, so I could try the system cache method. No love there either. I've stumbled upon a page where a person stated that they were able to manually poke around with their ITL file and forcing ITUNES to repair it. However this person was a computer whiz and I am sooooo totally not. So I had no idea what he was talking about. Anyone dealt with this scenario before? I tried praying to GOD but all he said was "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR PUTTING SHANIA TWAIN'S ..THAT DON'T IMPRESS ME MUCH.. ON YOUR IPOD YOU F%#KING DORK!!!" and I was like, "dude, it is undeniably impossible to not have a smile on your face for the duration of that righteous classic. Then he just f@rted into his hand and released it an inch away from my nostrils, followed by some bird flippage and nut sack grab. So I'm gonna need some help with this one. Thanks Ahead

Transferring your prepaid cellular data account depends on your carrier. AT&T lets you move it yourself when you go to Cellular Data in Settings and log into your account with your previous AT&T user name and password. For iPads with Sprint service, you can set up an account on the new iPad and contact Sprint Customer Care (888-211-4727 and go through the menus) to deactivate the old plan and get credit for unused service. For Verizon, call the company’s customer service number for mobile broadband support (800-786-8419) and ask to have your account transferred.

  • Building a new computer.. video card help?

im building a new system, planning to use after effects CS5 on it, and these are the specs.
    Intel Core i7 930 2.8 GHz w/ 8mb cache
    Asus P6T SE Motherboard
2 x 500GB Caviar Black 7200 RPM SATA HD (linked somehow.. raid, maybe? he said it's show up as one drive and be faster)
2 TB 5400 RPM Additional storage drive.
    Patriot Extreme Performance Viper II Series DDR3 12GB (6 x 2GB)
    GeForce GTS 250 512MB PCI-E w/ DVI, HDMI
    and a 24" Samsung Display.
This has run me 2200, already a little over over my budget?
My question is, is it worth the upgrade to a 285 (or maybe a Quadro)? This'll cost probably 300-400 more dollars. How different will it really be with this Mercury Playback Engine?

If you build the PC and it has RAID you can use a RAID 0 (striping).  It
reads and writes faster but if one drive fails all is lost as each drive only contains half of
the data.  I run an ICor7 920 2.66 that boots from a Western Digital 10K hard drive and runs two 500 GB drives in a RAID 0 for data drive.  I didn't get the boost I expected from the RAID 0.  I run two monitors with a 512 MB NVidia 8400 video card running my editing screen and a 1 GB NVidia 9500 running my display monitor.  It works pretty well.  The CS5 x64 really made it better but if I have too many layered sequences I have to reduce the monitoring to 1/4 res.  I run Windows7 x64.

If you've built your site using Muse, you can choose to publish to Adobe Business Catalyst, or use the 'Upload to FTP Host' feature to upload to another hosting provider. You can also export to a local folder and use a 3rd party FTP client to upload it to the hosting provider of your choice.

  • NLS error in building a new repository

    Hi every body
I reported my problem in building a repository in OWB 10g, but no one replied to me! I tried more ane half of my problem was solved. I instaled the oracle data base 10g release 2 and now I can connect with Enterprise Manager to my data base. But I still have problem in building a new repository. When I complete the wizard of creating a new repository, the following error is shown:
cannot access NLS data file or invalid environment specified.
I checked my ORACLE_HOME. At first, this variable was empety, then i changed it to the oracle home and also to DWB_HOME, but the error was not removed.
    any direction is welcome,
    Thanks.

But this is not happening for other pages..only this page is creating problem...
This region I am creating for the page whose navigation is as shown below:
    1) Login as PO Super User
    2) Go to Requisition Work Bench -> Requisitions -> Summary -> Lines Tab.
In this page in the search region I need to add one Criteria Item named Requisition Description
Now in our development instance, creating a Criteria Itme for this region through personalization is not enabled. But the same thing is enabled in the Test Environment. However if I go and just click on Create Item -> Criteria row and provide the id name and click on Apply the page is erroring out. Would anyone please try replication the same in their available instance and let me know whether they are facing similar issues.

  • New PC For CS6

    Hello everyone
I want to Build a new PC For Pr & Ae
    What is your suggestion?
    Chassis: Zalman Z9 Plus
    PSU: Corsair Pro Gold AX750
    M.B: MSI Z68A-GD55
    CPU: Intel i7 2700K
    Cooler: Antec 620
    RAM: 4 x 4 GB 1600
    GPU: Asus GTX 670
SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 128 GB
    HDD: WD 1 TB
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

I have many questions about the most effiecent PC for Adobe Premiere, so instead of starting a new thread I will post them here.
First thing first, I need to know abou the CPU - Processors.
What is the best processor for the rendering job out there ? I mean, what's the difference betweem many cores (physical), Hyperthreaded(cores) or just high frequency ? For example, if I buy the best 6core AMD (6 native cores + 6 threads), what makes it better or worse choice of buying an Intel quadcore (eg i7 920).
    Cores vs MHz ?
Alternative way: CUDA Rendering. Yes, I've seen how amazing things can be done using the CUDA cores of NVIDIA cards. I used to own an GTX465 until it fried. Too much renderin (imagine about 6 months projects) almost every time about 4-5 hours rendering each day, and then the card is proven to be dead Well, dead=malfunctioning, too many artifacts, random freezes, etc.
    So, should I buy a $500 expensive CPU or a $500 Kepler GPU ?
Secondly, I prefer using an SSD for the operating system and program files. I think 256GB is a MUST (at least 128 - no less!!!).
Although, I want your opinion about Green internal 7200RPM Western Digital hard disks ? I've heard that lot's of them are quite buggy under pressure, and rendering (writing and reading all the time under heavy pressure) is a nasty thing. So, should I buy a 120 Euro Green or an 210 Euro Caviar Black (5 years warranty) ?  What brandname do you trust the most ? I am asking that because lot's of WD died recently at my work (I am working as Computer Service technician).
Third part: I want to talk about the RAM modules. What do you guys prefer here ? Capacity or speed ? Maybe a little bit of both would be the best answer, but suppose I don't have 400$ to spent for a decent kit of 16GB running at 2000MHz.
Last but not least, are there any settings that MUST be done for Adobe Premiere ? I mean, should I adjust the pagefile (I have 16GB RAM), or anything else ? Should I disable indexing at hardtrive or any prefetching services ?
Thanks and sorry for the long story post

  • Need advice about building a new home LAN

We are in the process of building a new house and have gotten to the point where we have to decide to wire for ENET or go wireless only.
We have 2 Mac Pros, 3 MacBook Pros and several Gx Macs without wireless. The LAN will be used for internet and data, including clones and gigabyte size media files.
Would you wire for ENET or do you think wireless is sufficient?
    TIA,
    Bill

For residential work, as long as you do not string the cable through a return air plenum or duct, you are usually free to use the MUCH less expensive "riser" cable. For commercial work or through ducts, the much more expensive teflon-jacket "plenum" cable is required in most jurisdictions. Some commercial installers keep only "plenum" cable on their trucks. Using Plenum cable when not needed will easily double to cost of the cable.
If you want to save money, you could have them pull the cable but leave the raw ends in the boxes in the wall, and just put flat plates over them. Then you are not paying electrician/alarm guy time today to put the cable-ends on, but you have your expandability at a reasonable cost (or do-it-yourself) later. Same with cable-TV coax cable. You can still say "wired for high-speed Internet and cable-TV" when you go to sell.
1000Base-T uses all four pairs and a multi-level modulation technique, so the actual signaling interval is kept low enough for Cat 5 at a minimum. Cat 5e is only a tiny bit more money and has a little better performance. This article mentions cable requirements:

  • Export & import of sap sid schema for building a new system

    Hi,
We have a quality BW system which runs on HANA SPS07 (Revision 73). The database contains many schemas in addition to sap<sid>, the rest of the schemas are used through native HANA and are very huge.
We are planning to build a new test BW system by system copy method from quality BW systems. We dont want the export/import of entire database as it will take a long time because of huge native HANA schemas, also the schemas other than sap<sid> are not required in the target. Please let me know how to copy only the sap<sid> schema to the new database.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Saravanan

    Hi Saravanan,
Try with rigth clic on schema -> Export,
Select CSV format, choose a directory.
And for import the schema use the follow query:
    import "old_schema"."*" as CSV from 'Directory' with replace threads 10 rename schema "old_schema" to "NEW_schema_name";
    Regards.

  • Using ALEAUD for application reply? or build a new IDOC ?

    Hello.
I have a scenario where a 3rd party sends me a message, that I map in my PI to an ACC_DOCUMENT IDOC.
I need to send a reply on the ACC_DOCUMENT IDOC after processing it.
The reply must contain several applicative values from the IDOC - so that the 3rd party will be able to
"understand" on what message it receives the reply.
Should I use ALEAUD in this case? I'll have to add an extension so that it will contain the applicative values.
Or should I build a new IDOC or ABAP proxy to send the reply back? will I be able to generate it when I process the IDOC?
Anyone has a Rule of thumb on this matter?
    Thanks in advance,
    Imanuel Rahamim.

    Hi,
If you want to give the application response with minimal effor, you might want to change the ACC_DOCUMENT IDoc used so far to calling BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST. Actually, their data structures are identical, because ACC_DOCUMENT is an ALE interface generated for this BAPI. Thanks to this, you will immediately receive application response from your ECC system, including information like document number of the document posted, and similar.
Alternatively, if you do not want to use synchronous scenario, I recommend developing a custom ABAP Proxy that you will use to pass posting information from ECC to PI to your 3rd party system. You can call this Proxy after each IDoc is posted, or on a regular basis to collect multiple postings information into a single call. I think this will be easier to do it from scratch than to enhance ALEAUD message.
Or you can go one step further and configure FIDCC2 IDoc distribution to have the financial postings automatically sent from ECC to PI to 3rd party, immediately after the posting document is created. It is up to you to decide, based on the actual requirements and possibilities of the 3rd party system.
    Hope you'll find this useful,
    Greg

  • New computer, transfered music via external hard drive, library there but music wont play, message "The song "    " could not be used because the original file could not be found. Tech did everything, said call  Itunes support

    New Computer
transfered Itunes library via clickfree backup. New computer Tech support(Premier PC) did this, Now can not play library within Itunes. Message says "The song " song name " could not be found. Would you like to locate it? Same Tech tried different things via on line support could not fix and said call itunes support and say Itunes will not play on new computer.

I was given the option to locate the file where the song is held. If so select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it. itunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one. I hope this helps.

  • I've just finished building a new website with iWeb, I want to build a new site, how can I save the details from the first site?

    Hi There.
I've been building a new website with iWeb. Its now complete, but I will need to keep all the detasils involved as I make amendments from time to time. Now I want to start a new site on a completely different subject. But every time I go to start the new site, it just seems to be 'papering' over the details of the old one. How can I begin a completely new site without overwriting the details of the previous site, and where do I save the original site details to for easy access.
    Thanks,
