    I am building a website using IWEB, on my computer, and I am stuck suddenly, the page I made yesterday is hidden by another page and I cannot pursue..
    Is there a way to learn the process, also I see a contradiction with ILIFE 2011, reading about an announcement of Steve Jobs....? that iWeb would not longer be??

    How is the first page hidden by the other page?  Where are you experiencing this problem?  In iWeb's window or in the browser window of the published site?
    Are you referring to the page's link in your navbar?  If so check the Inspector/Page/Page pane for the "hidden" page and make sure it's set to be included in the navbar. If that's not the problem describe in detail what you mean and include any screenshots you can make of the problem.
    As far as the longevity of iWeb read the following:
    As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
    On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
    Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
    Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
    All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
    There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
    Click to view full size
    However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
    NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • Help with building dynamic website using tutorial (was: I know this is a repost but I'm still stuck!)

    Perhaps this was missed by the group but here goes:
    I am slogging thru a dynamic PHP tutorial but  I cant continue without losing some understanding of the process due to ?
    I am trying to complete the following:
    Building your first dynamic website – Part 2: Developing the back end
    However,
    my Insert record form dialog (below) looks like this, and I need to change both 'title' and 'blog_entry' values (as shown above), but I cannot make that choice in my form.
    I am using DW CC with the Deprecated Server Behavior from DMX zone.
    I have made sure my results match the tutorial, but I cant get past the above inconsistency in functionality.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks folks!

    The Columns area indicates which form field is used to insert a value in each column. Although the post_id and updated columns are listed as getting no value, their values are generated automatically by the database.
    Check that the title and blog_entry columns are being assigned the correct values. If either is marked as getting no value, it means that you have spelled the names of the form fields differently from the column names. Correct this by selecting the column name in the Columns area and selecting the form field's name from the Value pop-up menu.

  • Hi. I am building a website with the White template. Does anyone know which typeface was used by Apple on the heading index? (I would like to repeat the index at the bottom of my pages).

    Hi I am building a website using iWeb's white template. I can't write HTML, so can't change the index, but would like to repeat it at the bottom of my pages. Does anyone know which typeface Apple used? Presumably it would be 'web friendly' for use as described above?

    Arial
    PS. You can see it in the source of the published page where it says new NavBar etc...

  • Is there a good book or tutorial about building a website in AS3?

    I haven't seen any.

    There's one book Flash Professional 8 Beyond the Basics that walks the reader through a step by step process of building a website using AS2.  I was just hoping someone had done the same thing for AS3.  It's not such a big deal really I have a couple of good AS3 books and I've seen some great tutorials at Lynda.com and other places.  I'm able to piece together simple sites as it is.  I wonder if someone has something like this in the works to come out soon, It seems like it's a niche waiting to be filled by a good writer.

  • Can you build mobile websites in Adobe CS6 Muse similiar to fluid grid layout?

    Can you build mobile websites using Adobe CS6 Muse, similar to fluid grid layout?

    You can certainly use Muse for hosting on other hosts as well. You do lose some of the functionality of Business Catalyst such as In Browser Editing. I just saw that you did your current one in Wordpress ... so I assume there is a blog?
    If so, keep in mind that Muse alone does not have a blog feature. You can integrate a Business Catalyst Blog into it with a bit of knowledge on how BC works.

  • I used to manage 3 websites using both my imac and macbook, using dropbox, however I can no longer access them from my mac book.

    I have been managing 3 websites using iWeb for the last several years, using both my iMac and Macbook.  However for the last two weeks, I can no longer access these sites from my macbook.  It appears "empty".  When I first started seeing this, I took it to the Genius Bar in another city and he moved some library contents to my desktop - still didin't help.
    I know iWeb is a thing of the past, but I can't stop right now and learn something new for about the next 4 weeks (in a sports team in the middle of a season)
    .  After that, I will have time to learn a new product.
    Also, what is a suggestion for replacing iWeb?  Sandvox? Rapid Weaver?
    Thanks!

    What do you mean when you say you "can no longer access these sites?" Does that mean you can't connect to those sites in your web browser, or that they aren't showing up in iWeb?
    If the latter, note that your iWeb data is all entirely stored in a hidden file. In the Finder, choose Go -> Go To Folder and paste the following path into the window that opens:
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb
    In that folder, you will find a single file, called Domain. That's got all the data for all your iWeb sites. If that file is missing, or if it has become corrupt, you will need to restore it from an earlier backup.
    As for replacing iWeb, either Sandvox or RapidWeaver should work. Which works best will depend on your own tastes. Note that neither is capable of fully importing iWeb sites, as those sites will have a lot of content that is copyrighted by Apple. For more information about transitioning to one of these products, see:

  • I'm a newbie - Would you recommend using jdeveloper to build my website?

    I am after some advice.
    I want to build a website which will have a members area and several other bits of server-side functionality.
    I have built 1 or 2 sites using dreamweaver - with PHP and MySQL.
    I could simply build the site with the above but am keen to learn new skills. I have no experience of Java, but I've been advised that I could possibly build my site using JDeveloper. Taking advantage of ADF.
    I have installed the most recent version of JDeveloper and a MySQL database.
    I have managed to set this up and connect to MySQL using the third party jdbc driver.
    Anyway could anybody please answer the following:
    1. If I build my site using jdeveloper with a mysql backend - is there anything I need to know in terms of getting the site hosted. Most hosts I have seen offer a MySQL database with either PHP or MySQL. What do I need to look for?
    2. Can anyone suggest any decent tutorials? I'm not sure if the learning curve is too steep. As I said I have no Java knowledge.
    3. Can anyone suggest any decent samples I can install/run? I found one on otn about a toy store but this required an Oracle backend rather than MySQL.
    4. Anyone other advice or words of wisdom....?
    Thanks

    Yes you can build Web sites with Java - and using JDeveloper and ADF will probably make it simpler for you.
    One thing you'll need is a server that will host a Java application.
    For a sample and a tutorial see the ADF Developer Guide and the SRDemo applicaiton.

  • Can I use form 9i to build a website?

    Hi, everyone,
    I want to build a website based on oracle database. it's about a teaching evaluation system. that mean, teachers and mentors can exchange their idea through this system. I want to know if oracle forms can complete this funcation. if it can build a website? how can it complete the funcation of super link and navigation, etc. or does there some better ideas to build such a website? thank you very much for your great help.
    besides, in the form, can I complete video funcation? for example, uploading video from client and playing it on the client? does anyone use Oracle interMedia? it's about managing multimedia content. how can I integrate this funcation in my system?
    any help will be great appreciated!!

    Dear Grant Ronald
    thank you very much for your help.
    according to your experience, which one is better for a biginner: Jdeveloper, Portlet or Forms.
    just as you said, my application is not a heavy data application. for me, I just want to build it quickly and easily. frankly to say, I think Jdeveloper is too complex. there are so many new technologies to grasp in it. it will be hard to grasp in a short time.
    comparing Portlet with Forms, I never use Portlet, so I don't know which one is more easy and quickly to learn. as for the Form, I know there is no reference books about the newest version 9i. so I can only learn forms 6i plus new features in oracle website. another very important thing is if there are many examples and articles about Portlet on internet. so I can follow up and build my own application quickly.
    another very important factor is that I want to include video content in my application later. for example, uploading the vedio and playing back at the client side. so which tool is better to develop this application? do you use oracle intermedia before? what's the relationship between intermedia and Portlet and Form?
    besides, do you know if Portlet belongs to DS? I mean if I have bought DS, need I buy Portlet?
    thank you very much for your help!
    cheers...

  • What are the technologies used in building a website?

    Hi there,
    Could you tell me the technologies used to build a website?
    are these technologies enough? Javascript,HTML,Tomcat, DataBase Connectivity?

    Hi there,
    Could you tell me the technologies used to build a
    website?
    are these technologies enough?
    Javascript,HTML,Tomcat, DataBase Connectivity?
    It depends on what you want.
    If you want to have some static page and free web host, you only need HTML.
    If you need to have dynamic pages, have database, and many features and probabyl hosting on your local machine, you need lots of different technologies.

  • Can You Build a Website with iWeb and then publish it to another server?

    I am very new at this but like how easy iWeb makes it to build a website. A few questions for the newbie:
    1. I want to build a site but have another server I use who would host it. After watching the iWeb tutorials it looks as if you have to publish it on mobileme.com. But I already have hosting with another company. How do you do that?
    2. I also have a domain name I want to show up in the hyperlink bar not mobileme.com/____, is that possible to do with this program?
    3. Are their other templates for iWeb? I see about 12 or so they offer, can you search and download for new ones or is what's there all you have to choose from?
    I appreciate any help on these matters.
    Thanks!

  • Fastest and best external hard disks for video use with Imac?

    What is the fastest and best external hard disks for video use with Imac (I believe it is currently not possible to use Esata on the Imac).

    For DVCam. HDV etc, I'm a fan of the G-raid drives. From personal experience they
    are very solid performers. I only had one issue with a new drive that was replaced
    next day. They are not the cheapest drives to be found but the build quality
    is excellent. Check out:

  • How to build a website container with JSF...

    Hi,
    most simple websites have static and dynamic areas, e.g. header and menue are static areas, always at the same place and then there is a dynamic area somewhere in the middle... :)
    Whats a good way to build websites using the JSF framework?
    At the moment, I try the following:
    certain-site.jsp
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <%@page contentType="text/html"%>
    <%@page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <% String site = "0"; %>
    <%@ include file="base.jsp" %>
    base.jsp
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%@ page import = "java.io.*" %>
    <%@page contentType="text/html"%>
    <%@page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <%
    evaluate variable site, assign site-parameters as title, meta-tags and a file to include for the dynamic content
    %>
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
    lang="de" xml:lang="de">
    <head>
    <title>
    <%= title %>
    </title>
    *<%-- the menue: %>*
    <f:view>
    <h:form>
    <h:commandLink id="p1" action="pu1" value="Pu1" />
    <h:commandLink id="p2" action="pu2" value="Pu2" />
    </h:form>
    </f:view>
    <%-- including the dynamic area %>
    <f:view>
    <f:subview id="subview">
    <jsp:include page="<%= dynamic_area %>" />
    </f:subview>
    </f:view>
    </body>
    </html>
    faces-config.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE faces-config PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD JavaServer Faces Config 1.0//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-facesconfig_1_0.dtd">
    <faces-config xmlns="http://java.sun.com/JSF/Configuration">

    <navigation-case>
    <from-outcome>pu2</from-outcome>
    <to-view-id>/pu2.jsp</to-view-id>
    <redirect/>
    </navigation-case>
    </navigation-rule>
    </faces-config>
    Everything works, except the JSF-hyperlinks when the main part is included as shown above to avoid redundancy of html-code. -> No reaction. ;)
    When putting the JSF-hyperlinks in a single JSP without any includes, it works fine, too, then it works as I have tested.
    (So navigation rules in faces-config.xml seem to be ok, the failure must be something with include or in the surrounding.)
    -> What is the problem for JSF here? Why do the JSF-hyperlinks not work when the code defining them is included instead of standing alone as a JSP containing the whole site content (disadvantage of this practice: redundancy)?
    (I am not familiar with facelets etc. ;) )
    bye Maik

    Putting
    <f:view>
    </f:view>
    into every main JSP solved the problem that JSF hyperlinks did not work, BalusC is right.
    Example for such a main JSP including base.jsp:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <%@page contentType="text/html"%>
    <%@page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <f:view>
    </f:view>
    <% String site = "1"; %>
    <%@ include file="base.jsp" %>
    <f:subview ...> with a id in every included jsp did not work in a try but a simple jsp include as usual works.
    (Studying facelets will follow, too, step by step, maybe I participate in a nice seminar.)
    Thank to all helpers! ;)

  • Hosting a basic website on my iMac.

    Is there any software (bundled or third party) that would allow me to host a basic website on my iMac?
    If there is, can someone link me to some information regaurding setting it up?

    OS X is all the software you need!
    Matt's right. OS X comes with the Apache web server already built in, which is very widely used, even for professional sites.
    Go to System Preferences, Sharing, and tick "Personal
    Web Sharing". Then place your site files in your
    home/Sites folder.
    You can access your site using
    http://127.0.0.1
    This part is a little incomplete, however. There are two places you can put your HTML documents. The first is in the main /Library/WebServer/Documents/ folder. You can find that folder by starting at the top level of your hard drive (i.e., double-click on your hard drive's name in the Finder, then "Library", then "WebServer", etc.). Sites in this folder will be visible at the address he gave. Also, http://localhost should work, too.
    Secondly, you can place a web site in the "Sites" folder inside your user's Home folder. In order to access pages there, you have to add the user's name to the address. So if your user name was "wsender", you'd use this address:
    http://127.0.0.1/~wsender or http://localhost/~wsender
    to access your site.
    best,
    charlie
