Building a wedding slide show...

What resolution to scan Photos and will edited photos in photoshop work, and will Final Cut Pro X suffice or is it huge over kill?

FCPX supports only the video standards, 720x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080.
high res doesn't add any value, except you use massive amount of 'Ken Burns effects'.
consider ...
• usage of iMovie11 ... for a 'plain' slideshow why not?
• for quality beyond HDef-video, consider specialized tools as FotoMagico, which supports higher res (you have to use a 'computer' as player and >HDef displays or projectors ...)

  • Trying to make a wedding slide show

I have made my slide show in iDVD... I click burn... It goes thru its process. Then with about a minute left the DVD ejects and the status says done. However, the timer says about a minute left. Nothing is being burned to the disk.. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions!
Definitely make a disk image file from your project.
With iDVD open, select 'Save as disk image' from the File menu. The process will look like the burn process, and encoding will take just as long, but the end result is a file replica of your iDVD project, not a burned DVD disk. If the disk image is created successfully, you can burn your DVD disks from that using Disk Utility.
In addition, be sure you are using a good brand of DVD disk--Verbatim, Maxell and Taiyo Yuden are highly recommended.
Also, select a burn speed of 4x or less.
If iDVD cannot successfully create a disk image file, or if you have further questions, post back for more help.

  • Slide show for a wedding

What is the best program out there to do a wedding slide show with pics and audio?
    User friendly as well.

There are so many programs that can do this, the choice really depends on what else you want it to do besides present pictures. iPhoto, which came free with your computer, is the first one to try. It will play a sound track with your slide show if you want it to, and you can select a variety of transition effects between slides. For a plain slideshow with no sound, bells or whistles, I like [ViewIt|http://www.hexcat.com/viewit>.

  • Help with using parallels while burning a slide show..

I have pro show gold for making wedding slide shows.. I like the program and it only runs under windows. I am able to run the program using parallels and everything looks good, does the whole thing, burns the dvd etc. except when I go to run the dvd on the tv it does not recognize it.. What is missing, all the data is burned except some portion..
Since it's running in emulation mode I wonder if I should try making a boot camp partition. I have been avoiding that since I don't want to take up more HD space but I guess I might have to.
I still have my PC which I have been using to run the program.. I called photodex about it and they said they can't help me since it's made to run on windows. I just can't figure out why there should be a problem.

For assistance with Windows products in Parallels you should consult Parallels tech support else their forums…
    http://forums.parallels.com/
You're not going to get much, if any, help for it here. If you're running under Boot Camp you might find Boot Camp specific assistance in the Boot Camp forums.

  • Want to crop tunes for iPhoto slide show

I created a play list of 3 songs for wedding slide show, would like to crop out pauses and use just short snip of one, any way to do this? I cropped as directed for iTunes, but when I chose that playlist in iPhoto, the entire songs played. Any suggestions? Entire songs won't fit the photos.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Susan
You'll need to edit those mp3 files with an audio editor - Audacity is a open-source one - or GarageBand.

  • Building a Slide Show with Professional looking titles for each slide.

The only way I have figures out to product a slide show with titles is too put the title on in Photoshop and this is very time consuming. With all the different ways to make slides shows with Studio Pro, Imovie, Iphoto, etc. is there an efficient way to place titles on each slide.

    You might consider:
    PhotoToMovie
    FotoMagico
    or something similar.
BTW, I'm in Spokaloo as well.

    Hello,
I suggest you try a program called Photo to Movie. See link below. I have used this
application for many years, and it will do all that you need. It takes about 15 minutes
to learn and can give very sophisticated results. You can export from program to final
delivery, or go onto FCP if needed.

  • New to iMovie - Slide Show project

I've been lurking in the iMovie discussions for a couple of months now, and I'm trying to absorb the knowledge of the community. I'm also working my way through "The Missing Manual" which is invaluable. I have two projects in mind, so I'm starting two threads to ask for advice.
First is my "Slide Show" project. I have around two thousand jpeg pictures from my daughter's wedding, and I'd like to put together a DVD of the wedding. This sounds fairly straightforward to me, but I'd like your advice on my plan.
The project starts with an outline on paper of the structure of the project - starting with David Pogue's "22 Shots for Your Wedding Video" from the Missing Manual.
Question 1: I'm thinking of a 20 to 30 minute show, with each slide on screen for 3 to 4 seconds, and a simple cross dissolve between most pictures - maybe a Ken Burns Effect thrown in as a transition between sections, say between the church and the reception. Is this a reasonable length and plan?
Question 2: I'm thinking of using a series of approximately one-minute music clips for the sound. Many years ago, in a different forum, I read a comment that the sound track was more difficult than the video, so I was thinking of putting the music together first, and laying the pictures over it. I'm planning to use Amadeus II to build the audio track, with fades from song to song. Then maybe just import the 20 or 30-minute sound track into iMovie and fit the video by adjusting each picture's duration. Is this a reasonable plan? Would I be better off to feed iMovie smaller chunks at a time?
Question 3: With no disrespect to iPhoto, I've grown up using Graphic Converter and so I plan to use it to shuffle through the 2000 pictures, sort and select those I want to use, and then crop them to 720 x 528 (or 1.364:1) for use without the Ken Burns effect. I realize that part of the elegance of iMovie is it's integration with the i-Suite, but is there any other downside to this plan?
Question 4: I also understand that I do not want to let iMovie render my stills, but to let iDVD do it. To do this, I would just quit my project without letting iMovie render it, and then open it in iDVD, correct?
Sorry for the length of this post - I've been thinking a lot about this project, but it's time to start doing rather than just thinking!
    Thanks,
    Joe
    iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.6) iBook G3 (10.3.5); Beige G3 266 DT (9.2.2)

    Hi Joe
Q1: About 300 to 600 slides sounds OK when there is a line in the story and
some nice music also will make it easier to appreciate.
Q2: I would import the 300 to 600 photos I need and work with them. Putting in
the Music first is the way I think animatours usually do it. I would at least.
Q3: I would Create a new folder "Photos" and with GraphicConverter™ convert
them to high quality jpegs and into the new folder. I wouldn't do anything about
size but let iMovie do it's job. If some photos showes up flickerings premiary
in thin lines. (You need to connect Your miniDV camera to Your Mac and to
a TV-set to be able to judg final quality). Then I would manually open each of
them in PhotShop and add a little "Gaussian blurr" to them.
Of course crop to right size first.
I-sight - I have no experience of it - sorry.
Q4: I do it another way.
    a) Close iMovie
    b) find the project icon/folder
    c) Ctrl-click on it and Show package.
    d) in this there are a folder -> Shared Movies -> iDVD
    e) in this there is a QT movie nnnnnnn.mov
    - You can test this with QT-player to see that it is OK -
START A NEW iDVD project - so that old material will not interfere.
    f) drop this into an open theme in iDVD (just inside the edge of the
window) and save it as a desktop image
(if iDVD prior HD/5 You have to add a hack to make this possibly
    named HPfurz and install it)
Test this with Apple DVD-player - OK then burn it with iDVD
or Toast if You have and don’t want to re-code the movie.
(in iDVD 5 You can drop Your iMovie project icon directly into a theme window)
    Yours Bengt W

  • Slide Shows to Music

    Can anyone help me.....
I'm trying to buy some software that you can build a photo slideshow on (that's the easy bit), but the one main feature I want is the ability to tick a box and the photos change in time with the beat of the music.
Now before one of you clever people suggest that most softwear does this..... they don't.  What most of them do is change the duration of your slideshow to match the length of your selected music, so they all end together.  I want that, but also want the photos to move and change to the 'beat' of the track.  I know that I could do this manually on a timeline, but this is very time consuming and hence the ticky box option, I want the softwear to do it for me.
    Any positive suggestion greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for reading,
    Luke

Thanks for asking, but as I use PS to edit my wedding photos I thought that may be someone out of the, 'however' many people there is using the Adobe forum site could assist me.  May be someone would have suggested that there is some Adobe software that could do this?  I thought this was the reason for having forums, may be I was wrong?

  • Slide show output to DVD

As a surprise for my wife, I am trying to create a slide show of our wedding photographs on DVD. However, having created the slide show in PSE6 and saved it as a 'wmv' file, I have not been able to output it to a DVD. I have managed to output it to a VCD, but the quality is extremely poor.
I would be extremely grateful to anyone who could explain to me how I go forward from here. I should perhaps add that the DVD writer I purchased for this purpose came with Nero 7 Essentials, although whilst this has an option to burn videos to DVD, it does not seem to recognise my slide show file. Is there an economic solution?

    >Is there an economic solution?
I'm new to slide shows, too, and just got my first DVD burner which included Nero 7 Essentials and I purchased the DVD burner plugin.
I don't know about PE6 but the wmv output from PE3 when converted to MPG-2 in Nero Vision SE 4.9.7.6 is not much better than my earlier attempts with VCDs. If you want to try it you should be able to get the wmv accepted in Vision by selecting "Make DVD/DVD Video" and then on the "Content" screen selecting "Add video files". Have you applied the update to Nero 7 Essentials? I don't remember if this worked before I did that.
I've been able to get near commercial DVD quality by using Nero Vision to produce the slide show using the following steps:
    1. Since my target TV is widescreen I use PE Editor to crop the pictures selecting the best view in 16:9 ratio.
    2. Resize the canvas to 107 percent with a black fill to eliminate the effects of the TV's overscan so I get exactly what I want. (The percentage took some trial and error.)
    3. To speed up the process of adding pictures to the slide show in the sequence I want in Vision create a sequenced Collection in Organizer and export renaming to a temp folder.
    4. In Vision go to "Make Slide Show/DVD-Video"
    5. Browse for media/Browse and add to project.
    6. Add preferred Transitions
    7. Optionally Browse to a music track and add it (also created in Nero Essentials from a commercial CD.)
    8. Click Next.
    9. Select "Make Slide Show". (When making a slide show the option to "Create Chapters" is not available.)
    10. Right Click "Title 1" and rename appropriately.
    11. Click Next and Rename "My Disc" if so desired.
    12. Click Next and Next again.
    13. Click the "More" button and set up "Video Options". I use NTSC and for DVD-Video: High Quality, Progressive, High-Quality (2-pass VBR).
    14. If you do not want to produce Chapters to allow "Scene Selection"
Burn to your DVD burner. If you want Chapters "Write to Hard disc folder". (First time through I'd just burn a test DVD and see how you like it.) If later you want to create Chapters:
    a. Open Vision.
    b. Select "Make DVD/DVD Video" and then on the "Content" screen select "Add video files", open the previous "Write to Hard disc folder". This time Create chapters will be available and you can go through that and burn to DVD.
Sorry for such a long post but since you are trying to build a surprise for your wife the results of my trial and error may short cut the process.
I'm unhappy with the music option in Vision. So far as I can see you're basically stuck with whatever length and level is in the track or tracks you choose.
    Good luck.
    Bob
Edit: Thanks to Barb O I've gotten a lot of info at this very friendly forum http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/

  • Final cut pro crashing with slide show photos

I am working with a large slide show - a few movie clips, but mostly still images from Aperture.  The photos were shot wtih a Nikon D300 in Raw, not that I think that matters much at all.
Becasue this is a slide show I am working wth short durations for the images - usually 3:14.  Most of the transitions are simply cross dissolve, but some are more complex.
I am getting again and again crashes - or the spinning color circle going to oblivion and requiring a Force Quit.
Either can happen when adding new material, moving arround existing material, or trying to reset durations, add text, different transitions, or working wth the Ken Burns options.  Sometimes it also happens when resizing the time line zoom level.   This marvelous feature seems the most consistent way of trashing the application so I tend to leave it alone.
I may be able to work for an hour or only a few minutes.  Sometimes deleting and re-adding an image seems to help, but that may not be true - most of the time it's just simply random.   The system has 14 Gig Ram and I am using iCleanMemory now to see how much is in play.  A crash / freeze may occur with a lot or a little - usually looks like I have about 8.9 Gig in play for normal use of Final Cut and no clear change when it crashes / freezes.
Clearly the images are compatible - they are from Aperture and there is no consistency in always the same image being the issue.
Below is the first part of the error report dump.
Hoping someone has an idea for how to overcome this.
    Appreciate the thoughts.
    Cheers -
    Dan

Well, I filmed many of those videos in HDV (the 2x2 wall, the 5x5 wall and some of the 10x10 wall). Plus I converted the whole project to HDV because it is the way I displayed it (thru camera to Plasma TV's) and I wanted the HD space to work with and since part of my videos were HDV I figured that would be best.
Of course the DV footage is not so good quality, but when made very small for that big screen it looks fine I think. Yeah the AIC codec is great but it takes 4 times as much room, but you think that would work better hey?
I just don't want Final Cut crashing like that. I don't care if it can't play it back in real time or it takes 10 seconds to display 1 frame.
I have not used motion....would it work for what I did. Remember I used over 100 discreet video streams I had. I don't want to replicate the same layer...you get the drift.
Did you see it in youtubes HD? What did you think of the quality?

  • Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome

Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome. Works in IE. This is my first time trying to post a question - so please be kind. I am also not good with code and am finding css a real challenge after learning to design based on tables. I'm using CS5.
The "test" page with the slide show is: http://www.reardanwa.com/index-slides.html   The same page without the slide show is http://www.reardanwa.com/
I realize the images are not ideally sized - I'll fix those once I get the pages to function.  Maybe I need a different slide show? I would prefer a widget that I can modify to required size & postition. Again - I'm not good at building with code from scratch.
The problem is the naviagation links that are directly next to the slide show do not work in Firefox of Chrome. They do work in IE.
I've read about using jQuery.noConflict(); code but can't figure out the correct way to use it in my case or whether that's even part of the solution. I know my code is not well organized as I have cobbled together from various sources in an attempt to format the page the way the client wants it. Also, FYI, I will eventually try to make the page work in Surreal CMS.
I've spent sevaral days over the last several weeks trying to solve sth slide show/navigation conflict - so any specific light you can shed will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How can I trigger a lightbox slide show with a single image using Dreamweaver?

I'm trying to build a page for a cosmetics company in which clicking on a color swatch opens a lightbox-style slide show of model shots using that color makeup. Each swatch should trigger a different slideshow. I'm using Dreamweaver (CS6), and I'm sure there must be an easy way to do this, but I haven't figured it out yet. (It would be a snap in Flash, but alas, the site needs to work on a broad range of devices).
I'd appreciate any ideas, and please make your instuction easy to follow if possible—pretend you're talking to a dog, or an eighty-six-year-old—because I may not be as experienced as I ought to be. Probably not.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    best,
    wendy

DW doesn't do this for you.
    Get the jQuery Fancybox plugin.

Your spry assets folder MUST be in the same folder as that of your webpage with the slideshow (html, php... whatever)
Check your folder configuration on the server by clicking on the "Remote Button" on the DW Assets Tab.
Example 1:  This will not work:
    WEBPAGE HERE:    /server/public/myfolder/slideshow.html
SPRY ASSETS HERE:  /server/public/SpryAssets/....your javascript files
    Example 2: This will work:
    WEB PAGE HERE:  /server/public/myfolder/slideshow.html
SPRY ASSETS HERE:  /server/public/myfolder/SpryAssets/....your javascript files
    Hope this helps.
