Building Graphs with JDeveloper

Hi there,
We have the choice of using Oracle 6i Graphics Builder or JDeveloper with BI Beans to create simple line graphs for a new system we are developing, using Oracle Forms Developer 6i.
I had a look at the Graphics Builder and it doesn't look very easy to use. It also requires a lot of parameter lists passed from Forms to Graphics Builder.
My question is, in my case, would you recommend using JDeveloper for creating the graphs (using data inputted from Forms Developer into into the database (10g)), or should I stay with the Graphics Builder? I am trying to slowly shift from Forms to JDeveloper, and this would be a good start I think.
Is it even possible in my case to do this?
Another question (less important); If I would use JDeveloper, I do not mind having graphs displayed on another page than the system. Or, would it be possible to integrate graphs made with JDeveloper into Forms?
Thanks for your time,
Michael

  • Build report with Jdeveloper

    Hi all
I'm using Jdeveloper 10.1.2 and I would like to build reports .
Is there any way to do with ADF. Otherwise can you advise me how to do ?
    thanks

It all depends on how you define a report and what are your specific needs.
You can look at Oracle Reports at - http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports for a full blown reporting engine and development tool.
You can also integrate the open-source Jasper Reports with JDeveloper (search the forum for previous posts that will show you how).
And there is also the XML Publisher here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/applications/publishing/index.html

Please guide me what is the problem with JDeveloper now.

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?

    Jupp,
It fails in a similar way.
What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:

    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:

The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
[waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
[Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • Install problem JDeveloper 12c (12.1.2.0.0) (Build 6668) with Generic Installer on windows

    Hi,
I am trying to install JDeveloper 12c (12.1.2.0.0) (Build 6668) with Generic Installer on windows .
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_25\bin>java -jar C:\jdev_suite_121200.jar
I get the following error :
    Extracting files................................................................
Unsupported platform (unable to determine the startup directory location).
The Oracle Universal Installer failed.  Exiting.
When I try with windows install ( right click jdev_suite_121200_win32.exe and "run as administrator") , I get the following error:
ERROR Launch:No such file or directory
In the discussion (https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2573396?start=0&tstart=0) , it is said to be solved by "running as administrator" but it didn't work for me ...
    Thanks ...

    Hi,
Can you please tell whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit windows.
If it is 64-bit then you must run as administrator. In Windows 7x64, just right click on the jDeveloper exe and choose "run as administrator..."
Remove the existing Oracle folder and restart the system.
Try to install in new drive.

  • Cannot build a flow graph with the customized options

    Dear JMF-Gurus,
we implemented a DataSource for video capturing that is based on the lti-civil API, so that video capturing on Mac OS X should be possible.
When we try to build the flow graph, we get an jmf-error as described in the following log:

How were you even able to accomplish that? In my classpath I have fmj-nojmf.jar, jmf.jar and lti-civil.jar but I keep on getting this in my log.
    # JMF Version 2.1.1e
    ## Platform: Mac OS X, i386, 10.5.4
    ## Java VM: Apple Inc., 1.5.0_13
    ## DataSource created: com.sun.media.protocol.javasound.DataSource@f98d58
I can't get it to find the civil datasource in fmj-nojmf.jar.

  • JDeveloper build application with JAAS

    Hello!
I try to pack my application using JAAS XML. I create the .war file and it works nice. The login-form appears,
but the problem is that the .ear file must have the orion-application.xml and the jazn-data.xml in the META-INF folder but these files remain in WEB-INF.
Does anybody know how to pack the .ear so that the XML files are in the META-INF??
    regards

But still got message - "BUILD SUCCESSFUL" at the end. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
My intention of performing FOD schema installation was to follow the tutorial "Database Development with JDeveloper" at http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/jdev/obe11jdev/ps1/databasedevelopment/obe_%20databasedevmt.htm. But I stopped at the last topic "Creating and Debugging PL/SQL Objects in the Database" ->"Running a SQL Script to Create an Object Type" when trying to create a object using script on the page.
    This is the script:
    ------------------------------------------------start
    REM
    REM Create object ORDER_ITEMS_REC
    REM
CREATE or REPLACE type ORDER_ITEMS_REC as object
    ORDER_ID NUMBER(15),
    LINE_ITEM_ID NUMBER(3),
    PRODUCT_ID NUMBER(15),
    QUANTITY NUMBER(6),
    UNIT_PRICE NUMBER(8,2),
    CREATED_BY VARCHAR2(60),
    CREATION_DATE DATE,
    LAST_UPDATED_BY VARCHAR2(60),
    LAST_UPDATE_DATE DATE,
    OBJECT_VERSION_ID NUMBER(15)
    show errors;
    --------------------------------------------------end
and the error message I got was
    ------------------------------------------------start
    Error report:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    01031. 00000 - "insufficient privileges"
    ------------------------------------------------end
I was wandering whether the error of FOD installation could cause the error of the tutorial?
    Any response will be appreciated.

    1. you dont have to insall Oracle database at the BO machine side, you just need any database to hold the BO repository.
    2. you cant connect directly using BO, only Crystal reports can connect directly to R3 database, you need to have a BW in between.
extract your data into the BW, and let BO connect to BW using the BO integration kit for SAP solutions.
    3. no you dont have to have 3 different machines, using one BO machine you connect to them all, but you may need build a  BO environment, (Development, Production servers)
    good luck

  • Integrating FTP with JDeveloper

Can anyone help me with integrating FTP with JDeveloper (10.1.3)
I am developing jsp pages for a web site. the website runs on a Sun Solaris UNIX server.
At present i develop my jsp pages in JDeveloper and save then to a file on my PC. I then have to use an external tool (Ultraedit) to FTP them to my webserver for testing.
I have seen in this forum that there is something called 'ant' which will allow you to FTP direct from JDeveloper. I know zero about 'ant' and after spending a couple of hours trawling arround the web i'm still no wiser.
Can someone give me a hands held, idiot friendly explanation of what i have to do to integrate FTP?
    john

Here is a basic explanation of the FTP task in ANT.
You can just create a new Ant build file in your project, add this task with the correct parameters and then right-click run on the build file.
Another options is to use JDeveloper to create standard WAR file for deployment and then passing it to the server to deploy.

  • Fusion Order Demo zip file which works with JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0

    Hi,
Please can anyone tell me where to find the Fusion Order Demo zip file that will work with JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 (latest version 13/5/10).
I have downloade OracleXE 10g for Windows on my laptop and now want to create the Fusion Schemas (Tables/Schemas/Procedures etc) for the Demos.
I have downloaded FOD_11.zip, FusionOrderDemo_R1.zip and tryed the instructiion for running Fusion Order Demo here http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/jdev.html but each time I get the error
    "oracle.javacache_11.1.1 not found"
    How can I fix this?
I want to learn Jdeveloper works and use it for Logical and Physical Schema mapping....
    Thanks
    BP

    Hey John,
Thanks for the quick reply, and yes sir, I did follow those instructions.
Let me describe what all I have done so far, maybe someone can figure out where I need to fix anything:
I installed JDeveloper version 11.1.1.3.0, which came with its own WebLogic server, on my windows xp professional OS on my laptop.
I then downloaded the zip file, FusionOrderDemo_R1PS2.zip.
I encountered a problem while unzipping the file, where it was asking me some password for a few files, but Lynn from Oracle helped me figure that out....i had to use 7-zip utility to uninstall....windows default built-in unzip utility does not work.
After unzipping all files, I followed the instructions given on http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-095536.html to import, build and run the application....
And now when it runs....it just open my browser window (IE 7), and shows a "loading..." image in the center of the page....nothing happens after that.
Any idea what might be missing?
a few major errors I see in the wls log window of jdeveloper are:
    1) <DCBindingContainer><reportException> [3952] oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.sql.SQLDataException, msg=ORA-01882: timezone region not found
    2) <DCBindingContainer><reportException> [3958] oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.lang.NullPointerException, msg=null
    3) <UIXInclude><tearDownVisitingContext> Tear down of include component context failed due to an unhandled exception.java.util.NoSuchElementException
    Please help!

    Hi NI9233,
Mind me to interrupt, I am just helping Mike to explain what he meant to you, refer to the graph:
    Picture 1:
Double click on Build XY Graph, uncheck the clear data on each call
    Picture 2 and 3:
Change your formula node into +1 Basic Function in Functions Pallette.
    Hope that helps!

I am new to JDeveloper and downloaded 10.1.3.
I have an existing web application and added it to a new Project in JDeveloper.
I added an external version of ANT 1.6.2 to my Project Properties and added the ant.jar and ant-launcher.jar to the Classpath along with weblogic.jar and other libraries.
I tried my "clean" and "dev" ANT tasks in JDeveloper, the Message Window does not have any output and the ANT process stays listed. It does not appear that the ANT tasks are executed and I can not Terminate the ANT processes unless I exit JDeveloper.
My build.xml works fine in a command prompt. What am I missing?
    Thanks

    Mark,
I understand about wanting to use Ant directly from Apache. We don't modify the version of Ant that ships with JDeveloper, but it is not a complete installation - we currently only ship the lib directory.
But regardless, from the sounds of things the problem you are seeing doesn't have to do with using an external version of Ant, but that you are unable to run Ant in JDeveloper at all, even with the default version.
Ant actually won't write anything to the Messages log. What should happen when you run Ant is that a new "Apache Ant" log window should appear in the log pane. Do you see the "Apache Ant" window appear when you run Ant?
If not, could you try running JDeveloper from the console using the "jdev.exe" (as opposed to the jdevW.exe)? That way, if any exceptions occur, you will see them output to the console. When you run JDeveloper in this manner, and try to launch Ant, do you see any exceptions? If so, could you please include the stack trace in this thread?
Also, have you set any other Ant options in the Project Properties? In particular, what else is on the Ant Classpath? You mentioned weblogic.jar in your first post, is there anything else?

  • Integrating sonar with jdeveloper

Any idea that how sonar can be integrated with jdeveloper ?Is there any seperate sonar plugin available for jdeveloper? If anybody done this earlier, please tell me procedures about it.Thanks in advance

There is no jdev plugin for sonar. However, you can easily use sonar as external tool and even can add it to an ant build file.
That's not as tidily  integrated as it can be, but it works.

  • Debugging PL/SQL procedures with JDeveloper ?

    Hi,
does anyone know if it is possible to debug PL/SQL procedures and packages with JDeveloper ? I'm using a 9.0.1.2.0 database but JDeveloper returns the error "The target VB_TEST could not be started because the database version does not support debugging." when I try to debug a PL/SQL procedure.
If it is not possible, does anyone know a good alternative ?Oracle Script Debugger is not available anymore at technet.

I need to retrive data from PL/SQL stored procedures. I am using the DynamicSQL component (2nd workaround) to retrive data from PL/SQL stored procedures. <br><br>
