Built-in Calendar mostly unavailable since iPhone iOS5 upgrade
Since upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS5, the built in calendar is not accessible. It cannot be selected from the list of calendars to display. Events from other calendars cannot be moved to the built-in calendar. However, reminders for events in the built in calendar still occur, and spotlight search results include events in the built in calendar. I do not intend to use iCloud calendar backup, and it is currently set to off for calendars. How is it possible to gain complete access to the built-in calendar?
Also, I have since upgraded to iOS5.01, but the problem persists.
In case your Caldav setting uses the 'Advanced Settings' and needs a particular URL,
then you could be out of luck as many of us because with the introduction of iOS 5 (and still not fixed in iOS 5.0.1) one can not change the URL for the Caldav calendar location.
This worked and was possible with iOS 4.

The URL field in the caldav configuration can be modified, but when I save and return, it defaults to a wrong URL generated by the ios5 itself, and not to the URL I put in.

There are several threads discussing this issue. I tried many suggested solutions without success until one finally worked and I'm sharing it in every thread.
First, here is my hardware/software situation, if your's is diff, then the fix I found might not work.
iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS 5. IMAP email wouldn't SEND
Fix:
Go into setting>mail>your account>Outgoing mail Server SMTP>Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name + Password under Outgoing Mail Server.
It seems that in previous versions of iOS, you didn't need to enter your username and password in the outgoing mail server settings, but in iOS 5, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

Why can I not add contacts after ios5 upgrade? Calendar entries can not be added either!
Since the iOS5 upgrade both calendar and phone contact entries are not possible.
Well, I have found the solution in a german forum. Switching Contacts and Calendar "ON" under iCloud settings solves the problem and Contact and Calendar entries are possible again.
So it works now, but I am not sure why do I need to allow the "iClouding" of my Contacts and my Calendar to be able to manage them on my iPhone. Does anybody in this forum know the reason? -
Has anyone else had issue with earpiece since IOS5 Upgrade?
Since the ios5 upgrade my earpiece for the phone comes and goes. The speaker phone works fine and I can put in my headsets for music and that is fine as well. All this started after I upgraded to IOS5.
Yes and apple says software issue but I have to buy AppleCare to get fixed. What why should I pay to fix there issue they caused. Have you gotten any help.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Since downloading ios5 on my iphone 4 a few days ago, the capacity guage in itunes shows "other" as over 21Gb and i can no longer fit any music on my iphone.
How do I get rid of the other stuff?

i previously had 21.97 Gb music, over 6 Gb photos, about 1Gb of apps, and minute amount of audio
now i have no music, 5.4 Gb photos and similar (0.8Gb) for apps and audio. i have deleted heaps of photos and unused apps to try to make space but obviosly this is a much bigger problem. I also created a smaller music folder on itunes to sync to but at present no music is selected for syncing due to the lack of available space.
i have 15Gb icloud account now also which is about half full.
Ive done a little research and heard similar tales but with much smaller other totals than this. Can you help?
i cant update my apps as i get a message saying i do not have enough available space.I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first. -

If you have Outlook 2007 on your computer you can set up the event to repeat every third Thursday on a calendar on your computer within Outlook. Then sync your iPhone with Outlook on your computer using iTunes.

Has anyone else had issues with phone network being unavailable on iPhone 4 since updating to iOS 5.0.1? My iPhone 4 is continually searching for a network and does not find AT&T, my provider. I swapped SIM cards with another iPhone 4 running ios 4 and established this is a device problem, not a SIM card problem.
Does the device get any signal?
Sounds like the device may have had a hardware failure. If it is out of warranty, the only option is the Out of Warranty replacement.
AppleCare is only an option if it is still under the original warranty. -
There does not seem to be much useful information on cloud related matters. I will eventualy uptae to Lion but not for a while. Meanwhile I would like to know
if my calendar, etc on the iphone were I to update to ios5 and cloud would synch satisfctory (usul caveat) with my snow leopard imac not cloud connected?It is a very impressive phone.
You might want to look at FILES or FILES LITE. I use it for pdf and excel files.
Also, Trapster is very good for directions. And police radar/redlight cameras. -

If you have an iPhone 3G as stated in your profile, it can not be upgraded to iOS 5. 4.2.1 is the highest possible.

Someone sent me a recurring calendar appointment to my IPhone 4. I accepted it but now I would like to delete it since I am no longer attending. The planner was sent from Outlook. I cannot hit "edit" and "delete" on the IPhone. How can I delete this?

Recently my pc crashed and I had to have a new profile built. Now when syncing my iphone 4s to the computer the sync gets stuck on step 8 and "syncing artwork" It never finishes syncing...just sits there for hours. Subsequently most of my music and apps are missing from my iphone because it never finishes syncing. How do I fix this?
1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
