Built in Dictonary across apps

Good morning all, just a quick question. I've noticed when typing an e mail when a word is underlined in red you can tap on it and then a "replace" button appears that offers the correct spelling. However when reading e mail only the option to copy appears. Yet in Pages and iBooks you can tap a word and get the dictionary. Am I missing something or is the Dictonary only available in certain apps at certain times? Thanks!

That would be my assumption. That is, it is up to the app designer whether or not access to the dictionary is allowed and, if so, to program how and under what conditions access would be granted.

Well, yes, data does get corrupted sometimes.
The trick is finding what data.
By 'cleaned' are you therefor meaning that the drive has been erased and the system re-installed?
Because that's the quickest way to deal with such a situation.
Back up the system first of course,
Add back 3rd party apps one at a time in case one of them is causing the problem.

Is it possible to Auto text across apps

I'm looking for a way (App) that will let me use Auto text across different Apps.
I write a lot of similar text pieces several times a day for client replies, and want a way for Auto text to complete these sentences for me.
I want it to work across Apps like Mail, Pages etc. (fx: I write predefinded shortcut like: "callus" and the auto text fills out "Please don't hesitate to call us back") so that I works the same way (i.e. Use the same shortcuts) in different Apps.
Anyone?

Search Bar/Find and Replace Syncing Across Apps

It would appear that my find-and-replace search boxes are syncing across apps (and also the Safari search bar).
1. Open TextEdit, press ⌘F, enter something to search for, say 'test"
2. Open another app, say Sublime Text or Safari. Press ⌘F. The search field is magically populated with "test"!
Same thing happens if I start in Safari, and use the URL bar to search for something, then open TextEdit and press ⌘F.
This is driving me crazy. Does anyone know how to turn it off?
Running OS X 10.9.4 with all updates installed - it seems to be an OS X default thing.

I don't see it in Safari unless I actually use Command F to search. You should use Command L in the URL bar to start a new search.

Was the built in Nike Plus app removed from the iPhone 6?

I had the iPhone 5s with iOS 8 and used the built in Nike Plus app but now that I just purchased the iPhone 6 the built in app is gone. Does anyone know if this was something removed completely.

Will text notification work for Built-in Single Edition app?

Copy and Paste not working across apps - 3.0 software

I can't seeem to make the copy and paste work across applications. works fine in e-mail from notes but won't paste in text. anyone else having this kind of issue?

The app you are trying to use probably hasn't been updated for iPhone 3.0. Check that all of your app are upto date and if you still have an app that doesn't allow copy and paste check the version number in the app store to see if it has been iPhone 3.0 tested. I have copy and paste fail to work in one app (sorry can't remember which) and after an update to the new version it worked fine.

Overview of all ebooks across apps

I am looking for a way to get an overview of all my ebook purchases across iBooks, the Kindle App, Google eBooks etc.
Does anybody know of an app or a way to get an overview?
Wouldn't it be nice if we could search through all our ebook libraries?

Right now, Apps can't interact with other Apps. Each App works in a sandbox.

Is it possible to share the LOVs across app definition in Jheadstart 10.1.3

Hi Jheadstart Gurus,
We are using Jheadstart 10.1.3, we have multiple app definitions files in our project, it turns out that there are some LOV groups could be the same in different app defs. It is desirable to share them across multiple app defs. I saw that it is possible in Jheadstart 11g. But since we are using 10.1.3, is there a way/workaround to share/reuse those LOVs? We don't mind to customize the templates.

I can not instantly think of any reuseable LOV implementation in 10.1.3; other than hardcopy the LOV definition from one appdef file to another (which is not really reuse anyway).
I don't know if you have any migration plans to 11g? There it will be a breeze indeed...

How to implement a singleton class across apps in a managed server}

Hi ,
I tried implementing a singleton class , and then invoking the same in a filter class.
Both are then deployed as a web app (war file) in a managed server.
I created a similar app , deployed the same as another app in the same managed server .
I have a logger running which logs the singleton instances as well.
But am getting two instances of the singleton class in the two apps - not the same .
I was under the impression that , a singleton is loaded in the class loader level , and since all apps under the same managed server used the same JVM , singleton will only get initialized once.
Am i missing something here ? or did i implement it wrong..?

Any class loader that loads a class, by definition loads the class.
A VM can have many class loaders. And far as I know every JEE server in existance that anyone uses, uses class loaders.
And finally there might be a problem with the architecture/design of a JEE system which has two applications but which is trying to solve it with a singleton. That suggests a there might be concept problem with understanding what an "app" is in the first place.

Empty property across App Modules

I created three Application Modules. I'm prompting the user for a username and password. And then populating with:

Jspc portable across app servers?

Is the output from the JSP compiler, jspc, portable across multiple servlet
          containers. For example, if I use Tomcat to compile the JSP, assuming I
          have used no Tomcat specific features in my JSP page, will that compiled
          class work in WebLogic or SilverStream for example?

Built Bonjour-dependent Java app on Mac, copied to Windows, can't find Bonjour

On my Mac, I wrote a Java app that uses Bonjour. It works just fine.
Then I decided to test it on Windows. So I installed Java SE and then the Bonjour for Windows package on Windows XP. When I try to run my program (double-clicking the jar file), nothing happens. When I do it from the command line, it complains about being unable to find Bonjour:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/apple/dnssd/BrowseListener
I assumed that Bonjour for Windows would automatically register itself so that Java could find it. Is that incorrect?
What is the correct portable way to make Bonjour available to apps on Windows?

Activate App (Built-in Single Edition App)

Hello,
I'm having difficulties in DPS App Builder. I can't download the Developer App in the Downloads column. I do have a valid Creative Cloud menbership and I have updated the DPS App Builder (version 2.6.0). I'm working from InDesign CS6. I have tried to trash the DPS App Builder and re-install but that doesn't solve the problem. Even restarting my Mac doesn't solve it. Any suggestions? Thank you.

It sounds like you already did this, but try trashing the DPS App Builder and then install a new by signing in to https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com and clicking DPS App Builder. If that doesn't work, someone from Adobe Support might need to check your account.

Calendar Invite/Reply scaling across apps and platforms.

I have kind of a general discussion I'd like to open regarding calendaring and scalability.
I'm doing support for a small office of about a dozen people. There's currently no standard calendaring solution. I'd like to get everyone on iCloud, but any one solution will do.
Everyone's on Mavericks and using Office 2008 or 2011.
Some have Google calendars.
Some love Entourage.
Some use Calendar and Mail.app.
I have one user that's experiencing a lot of pain using her calendar. She's trying to coordinate a week of events for a group and she's doing it by sending invites out of iCloud/Calendar app. She'd previously been doing it via Google/Calendar.app.
Now, she's got maybe two dozen recipients outside our office. She might get replies from half. The remainder either don't get the message or reply, but my client never receives it. So she's got to go tracking down replies one by one.
Here's my general question.
For that many recipients... who knows Mac/PC/iPhone/Android... what OS/App versions... is organizing an event this way worth it? Is this the right tool for the job? I know if everyone was on iCloud at least, things would probably just work. But that's not the case here.
Should she be using an evite service, for example, with a group that large and diverse?
Are there people out there sending invites from their Calendar.app to large and diverse groups of recipients without problems? If so, I want to find out why it's working for you or why it's not for me.

Just FYI, in my IT experience, this has not come up. Either I was at a large company where calendaring was handled centrally, not by the Mac IT staff, or, I guess people either weren't inviting large groups or doing it "manually."

Update as of 24th APril 2012
Problem #1 still remains unresolved but instinct is telling me that the mime format of the mail message coupled with the content of the .ICS attachment is causing Mail to not pass this onto iCal as a proper invite. However, clicking the attachment does force iCal to recognise the invite and to raise alert in the notification panel. This is inconvenient for the MD pimary user of the Mac in our Org. Would really appreciate any feedback or workarounds.
Problem #2 seems to have been resolved when we discovered that the end-user had not selected a "MyCard" as the 'user card' in the local Apple Addressbook Card file. After doing this the link between iCal and Mail started to respond when an invite was replied to causing the a mail message to be sent to the organiser.
