Built in flashlight

Hey everyone. I just wanted to make sure everyone knows about the built in flashlight for the 8900. Its actually the video camera light which uses the camera flash. It can be turned on by going to video camera, hitting options and selecting video light. Turn it on. Now everytime you open the video camera, the light will turn on. Its quite a bright light. The other thing I did to make it quickly accessible was to set my left convenience key to open the video camera. To do this, go to options, screen/keyboard, left convenience key, select video camera and there you are. I hope this helps at least one of you! I use it all the time.

When in the video camera, the spacebar turns the flash on & off. Just click it on when you need it. And don't forget, it uses A LOT of battery!

I think you may be thinking of Android apps. iPhone apps are only available through the App Store (unless you've jailbroken your phone) and are fairly well vetted. Also, because of the way the iOS isolates one app from the other, there really isn't any malware for an unjailbroken iOS device.
The only danger I can see from the built in flashlight feature is if you shine it in your (or someone else's) eye. It's very bright.

Camera Flash not working after IOS7 Install

Hello. I installed iOS7 on my iPhone 4 last night. I had a Flashlight App on the phone prior to the upgrade, which now has a built in Flashlight utility. The probelm is, I cannot get the flashlight to turn on at all now. Not through either app and not even with the camera. I tried deleting the Flashlight App then restarting the phone, no change. Has anyone else ran ito this problem yet? Are there any suggestions for a fix? I already made a Genius Bar appointment for Sunday, just in case I cannot get this fixed.

I have a resolution update for this: Delete any third party flashlight apps on your phone. Perform a backup on your phone. Restore the phone to factory settings then restore the phone from your backup. After doing that, the flashlight utility on the menu and the photo flash on my phone started working again.
I was pretty sure this was a software issue but I took the phone into an Apple store over the weekend. They did the factory reset at the store then checked the phone for hardware issues, none were found. They ordered a replacment phone for me which I will call to cancel today. When I got home and restored the phone from my backup, I discovered the LED was working again.

Will bright light (camera flashlight) damage the screen?

I opened the flashlight application in my mobile phone which utilizes the in-built camera flash. It's pretty bright and I've used it to take a look at my MBPr's screen up close. I put the computer in sleep mode and flashed the light directly at certain areas on my screen.
I'm curious though. Will this damage my screen? I didn't notice any change afterwards (I used the flashlight for about 5 - 8 minutes).

He simply used the camera flash as as a flashlight (hence the "Flashlight" term/app).

Resolution of built-in display with dvi adapter

I've connected my Imac to my Samsung DLP using a mini-dvi to s-video adapter. The display on the tv is fine, but the problem is that when ever the adapter is plugged in, I lose all widescreen resolutions for the built-in display. Does anyone know a way around this? If I used a mini-dvi to vga or hdmi adapter instead, would it do the same thing?

Then leave the adapter connected to the Mac for two reasons;
1. to prevent having to Detect and Adjust everytime it is connected.
2. to prevent ware and tare / damage to the Mac's Mini DVI port.
Mirroring will always cause the Mac's resolution to change, the system is using the best resolution to support both Mac and TV display's.

How can I display and change built-in symbols of a tree control programmatically?

I want to set the built-in symbols of a tree control during runtime.
I only found an example to assign custom pictures but not how to select one of the 40 built-in symbol.

The ActiveItem.SymbolIndex will allow you to select the symbol for the active item. You can use the ListBox Symbol Ring Constant (Dialog and User Interface palette) to select a symbol (or you can just enter the number directly if you know what it is).

How do i remove image links to adobe site with my dreamweaver built flash gallery ?

This is probably a very simple solution, but i can't figure out how to remove the link to the adobe site when you click on the images in my gallery--I built a site in dreamweaver used the insert media option and added my photos---when uploaded, my images in the gallery are clickable and take you to the adobe site...how do i make the images have no link??

My laptop no longer detects my built in webcam

I have an HP G60-635DX notebook. I have a built in webcam which I have used several times before, but now all of a sudden my laptop is not even detecting I have a built in webcam. What to do? I have a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Webcam. It bums me out. It is the only way I can talk to my boyfriend face to face while he is out of town and now it is not even working!

OK, to start with, may I know if you can you check using webcam with Cyberlink Youcam Software & if webcam is listed in device manager under imaging device....

Can not replace the built in XSL Transformations

I have a web app which uses Xalan (2.3.1++) runnin on 7.0.0.1. It runs fine in
WL 6.1 using the weblogic transformer. However, when porting it to 7.0 I keep
getting exceptions such below. What worries me is that I have replaced the XML
Registry (see attached file) with the actual xalan classes.
Are there other steps to replace the registry?

The web controller lists cameras that are bound to Podcast Producer. It cannot list ad-hoc sources, which usually includes the built-in iSight camera. If you were to bind your camera to Podcast Producer using the Podcast Capture application, it will show up in the web controller.

Contact Apple. I believe you have a hardware issue there if it's not showing up in your System profiler.

Voice over tool & built-in audio

When I open FCE, I routinely get a message "unable to locate built-in audio." I ignore it and continue, so far as I know without any bad consequences for my projects. Sound input and output seems fine, except when I try to use the voiceover tool.
My mic is hooked up through a Tascam US-122 usb connection. Indicator lights on the usb interface show that the mic is working, and the sound preferences panel also shows the sound from the mic coming into the computer at normal levels (the input levels indicator lights up when I speak into the mic)
My voiceover tool settings are Tascam US-122 for source and for input. My output is set for headphones. Adding to the mystery is that on rare occasions, after trying many changes in settings and closing/reopening the project, the voiceover tool will suddenly work properly (I haven't been able to isolate a cause). Today, however, nothing I do seems to help. I recently upgraded to osx 10.4.10, but the problem existed long before that. Any suggestions?

There is an issue with some USB based sound devices and FCE HD.
You can use Soundflower pref panel to allows virtual "rewiring" of your audio from input source to output destination. That may resolve your problem.
Search this forum with "soundstick, USB, soundflower" keywords.

I have plsql proc, in which i have a list of table_names. For each of that table i need to run a query that will retrieve me a list of values and for each of that value i need to do something.
If i can be more specific about the problem -> each of that table is built as key_column, value_columns, day,starttime. For a key per table there are 4 records per hour - every quarter. Im truncating those quarters to full-quarter (minutes => 0->14 = 0min; 15->29 = 15min, 30->44 = 30, 45->59=45)
example
i get for one key and specific hour four records at 15:01;15:16;15:31;15:46 => i truncate em to 15:00;15:15;15:30;15:45..Sometimes there is a problem with the tool that is generating those data for me, and one quarter could be moved a little - so i get data like 15:01;15:16;15:29;15:46 => after i truncate the times i get duplicates in second quarter. It also can happen like this : 23:00; 23:14; 23:29; 23:44; 23:59 => totaly bad => cos the last one supposed to be as 0:00 next day, ..and 23:14 as 23:15...So...that was a problem - and solution -> i wanted to create plsql that will find those hours in each table i ve defined, and for each problem hour i make some fixes - update the bad time ...
..and i have problem - can i put an dynamic built table_name in the "from" clause?
example how i wanted to do that:
