Built-in iSight doing nothing -showing blackness
When I got to use the iSight it works fine for just a second, then goes nearly completely black - almost like the aperture settings go screwy and it's over-compensating for light - but even in low light conditions it's still doing it.
You CAN faintly see lights around the room, but otherwise it's totally black.
Is this a software - firmware - or hardware issue? Any suggestions?
Thank you...

My Mac's Built in iSight is not showing all the options for the camera
On Flash bashed chat rooms such as Stickam and Tinychat, my camera doesn't respond but when I right click>settings >Camera the drop down box only shows one option (Built-in iSight) when it usually shows three (Built in iSight, USB Class Video and Something else that slips my mind right now.)

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Why does nothing show up in Design view?
I'm using DW CS5 and creating a page to upload as a Facebook tab. I'm working in code view and the only thing I have in the code is an image. When I switch over to Design view, it shows nothing. But clicking on live view or previewing in browser shows the image perfectly. In Design View, the screen is gray instead of the normal white and there are two icons (one resembling a think bubble and the other a piece of paper). If I click on the little icons, the gray screen turns white but clicking doesn't allow me to edit or place anything new in Design view. Does anyone know what's going on? I can't continue unless I can see the image and click on it in Design view since I'll be mapping the image to link to another page!
Here's what my code looks like so far:

I am having trouble downloading photos to iPhoto from camera. iPhoto recognizes pictures, but does not offer the option to download/import.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue. -

Why does nothing show up when I want to print messages from my Safari email
Hi all, I find it annoying that, when I wish to print emails from Safari mail, the print dialogue window comes up totally blank, and find myself having to forward the message to another of my email addresses to print from there.
I'm just wondering what I may have done that blocks email messages from showing up in the print dialogue box. Any clues? When you are on the Print screen, is there a button "Properties" near/after the printer name? If so, click on it.

Major built in iSight problem!
So I opened photobooth today and the image was terribly wrong. The image was in shades of purples, greens and grays, and was very grainy. It wasn't a slight change of what the normal picture looks like, but so bad that it looks like it could be an effect (and it is not.)
Nothing like this has ever happened before. I have no idea what it could be.
I am using a macbook pro, MAC OS X version 10.4.11.
2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4GB or ram.
any help will be appreciatedSorry you are still having problems, annefeldman10
So I tried all the different options ...
So you mean that you tried the all except the last one?
"... contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service."
If you used the last suggestion, too, and have had your Mac checked by an AASP, what did he tell you to do?
My camera is recognized ...
Do you mean that your built-in iSight is recognized as a USB device in your MacBook Pro's (MBP's) System Profiler?
If your built-in iSight does not show up as a USB device in your MBP's System Profiler after you have tried all relevant suggestion (except the AASP one) from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 , you have a hardware problem that will require the services of an AASP.
... only showing a green screen.
Verify that the "Colors:" choices bar setting in your > System Preferences > Displays window shows Millions. If it is shows something else, correct it.
I am not sure what the reset is ...
The "Reset SMC" suggestion in the first ¶4 of http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
With your MBP, you must follow these instructions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
... (it only had instructions for powerbooks) ...
If "it" means something in " http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 ", your statement cannot be true. No PowerBook has a built-in iSight.
If you mean that you only have instructions for a PowerBook, you can download the users Guide appropriate for your MacBook Pro at:
http://support.apple.com/manuals/#macbookpro
... I did the restart and it didn't help at all.
Restarting your MBP is a good idea that often gets things working again. It was wise of you to try that first.
I also suggest that you disconnect all peripherals while you troubleshoot your iSight and keep all applications closed except the one you are testing. Close the first app you test with your iSight before you launch the second one to be tested.
If you meant "reset" instead of "restart," and if you use reset procedures for a "powerbook" instead of a MBP, it is not surprising that those PowerBook procedures do not correct a MBP problem.
If you need to post back for more help, please be as specific as you can. We will try to offer detailed suggestions to your specific questions.

Built-In iSight not responding
Hey. My iSight camera is not working on my macbook for whatever reason. I have checked the system profiler, user accounts, other programs, and reset the smc. Any suggestions?
Welcome to Discussions, Searcy91
Try EVERY relevant suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the PMU / SMC reset suggested there (instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411 ) often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if your built-in iSight does not show as a USB device in the System Profiler after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, yours is most likely a hardware problem that will require help from an Apple Service Technician.
As stated in Apple's "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article:
If your built-in iSight camera is still not behaving correctly after trying all these steps, you may need to contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

just bought a refurb 20 inch imac from apple. the built-in isight does not seem to be working right. when using ichat, photobooth, and quicktime broadcaster in *plenty good* light no picture shows up. it is totally dark. i know it is picking up some light because i shined my peltz headlamp at the camera and four little lights showed up in an otherwise black preview. in quicktime broadcaster i adjusted the camera settings and it made no difference (cannot find how to adjust camera settings in other apps).
so i'm wondering if i simply got a dud or if there is something i can do to get the isight to work?Hi Dave,
Welcome to Apple Support Discussions!
This doesn't seem like a user-fixable problem. I know it seems like a nuisance, but I would call Apple Technical support at 1-800-275-2273. They may suggest taking it to an Apple Retail store near you, if they can't solve it. Living in California, you should have no problem finding an Apple store. ;-D
Since you bought it from Apple, it is under a 90 day phone warranty and 1 year hardware warranty. -

I rarely use my built in camera, however I recently noticed that my built in camera iSight (macbook) is not functioning with any of the applications (ichat, photobooth, skype). Dont know how to trouble shoot. Any advise please?

Under Utilities folder in Apps folder, I am not able to find USB or iSight or Camera folder.
... Is it wrong installation ..., which could result in this way?
(1) No. What you see is normal for Mac OS X.
Neither "USB" nor "iSight or Camera folder" should be in your "Utilities folder in Apps folder."
(2) Your Utilities folder does contain a " System Profiler " iCon. Double click it.
Your System Profiler utility will open.
Click "USB" in the column of items under "Hardware" in the "Contents" column at the left side of the System Profiler window.
"USB Device Tree" pane will open immediately to the right of the "Contents" column.
Click on each of the USB items in the "USB Device Tree" as necessary until you find your "Built-in iSight."
If your iSight does not show under any of the USB items, your built-in iSight is not recognized by your Mac, and your Mac needs service.
I sometimes write too much. If you have difficulty understanding my wordy instructions,
see the image below. Yours System Profiler window may look somewhat different,

Built-in iSight not recognized
If I boot up my mac and start photobooth straight away, I get the message: "Photo Booth cannot open because no camera is attached or the camera is in use by another application - Make sure your digital video camera is properly attached and turned on. If you are using the camera with another application, close that application before trying to open Photo Booth again."
However I have not started any other application nor is my camera disconnected (it's a built-in isight on my macbook black)
Questions:
- Does anyone know a way of finding out, which application is using the camera?
- Does anyone know how troubleshoot the camera, e.g. find out if it's "connected" properly?
- Has anyone ever had a similar problem?
Last week, the cam was still working and I don't remember having installed anything that could have affected the camera functionality.
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to Discussions, TK-60
If you are still having problems after trying Baby Boomer's good suggestion, try restarting the Mac. If the problems persist, try all relevant suggestions from:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If your iSight problem still occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if your built-in iSight still does not work after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, and if iSight does not show as a USB hardware device in your Mac's System Profiler utility, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

Problems with built-in isight: colours and fuzziness
I have just bought a new MacBook, however I seem to have quite a problem with my iSight. When I use it (for example, through Photo Booth) I get an image that is very reddish (it seems like the only colours I get are in the range black-orange-red, and no, I'm not using any special effects like Sepia :)) and that is very fuzzy, or even better, foggy.
Any fix for this? I have had an iMac with an iSight that only showed black and the solution seemed to be to reset the PMU. However, I cannot find information on how to reset the PMU on my new MacBook.Any fix for this? I have had an iMac with an iSight
