Built-in ISight - recording video - no audio playback

I checked the system preferences - The input is the built-in microphone - The speakers work - I have NO idea what I'm doing wrong - The video is recorded, but no audio - thanks in advance

Has to be the microphone- I just uploaded my videos from IPhoto - you can hear the audio on those - I'll recheck my input in system preferences- but i know i checked that before and the built-in mic is selected

Recording video or audio crashes apps

When I try to record video or record audio from my built in isight and internal microphone my quicktime or any other application that records audio and video crashes.
ichat crashes when i try to video chat.
audicity crashes when I press the record button
everything crashes when I try to record from either of the internal mic and camra.

However, there wasn't a good way to sync the video and the prerecorded piano, so there are some spots where the dubbed audio vocal isn't accurate to the video. I'm not sure what the pros do for this. I was hoping I'd remember how I sang for the video but when a couple weeks go by before re-doing the audio, it's about impossible. I tried, though.

Quicktime Pro Won't Record Video or Audio

I'm trying to record a movie with Quicktime Pro 7.5 on my MacBook, using the built in iSight. I can see myself on the screen live, but when I press the red record button, I just instantly get this message.
Recording failed to record a movie.
Ditto for audio.
I quit, restarted the computer, to no avail. What's up?

When I had this problem awhile back, it was because I had set QuickTime Player to open with Rosetta previously when troubleshooting a problem. That might be something you want to check as well.
Also, try creating a new user to see if you can capture under that user. (That's how I successfully determined what my problem was)

Recording Video and Audio at Same time with simultaneous sync

I want to record a keyboard performance into garageband and at the same time record the playing of that performance with my video camera. Then I want to create a movie using the music from garageband and the video from the camera. I was thinking that if I can sync the video and audio when I'm recording the session, then that part is taken care of. Or, maybe this is easier than I think it is?
Is there a way to do this so that I can use the garageband record performance and have it synced to the video on the camera?
I don't want to use the audio from the video camera because the performance that is captured in Garageband will be much better and I can do editing of the individual notes in GB.
In the end, I just want to make a movie and/or podcast of the performance.
I'm a newbie regarding this, but I did search the forums and couldn't find anything specific. Mostly it was about importing video into GB3 and then syncing new audio. I'll basically have audio and video from the same performance in two separate locations and I want to bring them together perfectly in Garageband.

Built in Isight recording but clip shows up blank and with 00:00 reading

Hello,
I have had a look around the forum and found one specific topic with a similar problem to mine, but it was unanswered!
I have been trying to record some clips with imovie HD (on my macbook) with my built in isight camera and everytime I go to play a clip back it has a fuzzy noise at the end of the clip which distorts the sound.
Also alot of the clips record and then when they show up in the clips panel they show a blank black square with the 00:00 as the time recorded.
This problem only started today and I also bear in mind that I upgraded my memory today to 1GB.
I used imovie yesterday and it worked perfectly and I have never had problems before.
Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks

I guess the next thing would be to trash the preferences and run a permissions repair.
Quit iMovie.
Locate a file named com.apple.iMovie.plist and get rid of it. imovie will create a new one the next time it runs. Empty the trash and run a permission repair using the Disk Utility.

Built in iSight Camera - Video Grayed out

Just got a brand new smokin' iMac yesterday but I'm having trouble with the iSight camera that is built in. The video I see is all grayed out. Help!

Check if you can see the lens, it might still be covered. The iSight is placed in the middle on top of your screen. Make sure the iSight has a clear view.
If you have iChat already up and running click on the camera icon next to your name in the buddy list.
Have a look at [this|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1462] brief tutorial that explains how you can use your iSight.

Record Video+external audio+system audio

I need to record a movie with:
- Input from my firewire Camcorder
- Input from my external audio interface
- Input from GarageBand output
Till now I just find two ways of doing it:
1.
- Record audio in GarageBand and video in Quicktime at the same time
- Sync both recordings (with Quicktime or ImovieHD)
2.
- Open a Quicktime movie recording
- Start a screen video capture applicaton (with option to record system audio) and select the quicktime window to record
- Start recording
- Go to GarageBand and start playing
- Switch to Quicktime screen and realy start my recording
- Trim the unwanted initial video recorded.
Unfortnately both workflows are just tricks to do something that is no directly achieved by the applications. In the end it takes double the time to record a movie than it should take.
Is there any way to record with Quicktime a movie and at the same time both internal and external audio?
Is there another application to do it? I have search many applications and it seems that only screencapture apps can record internal sound. I have heard of wirecast but is too expensive (400$).

Although the application seems very interesting how can it help me since it does not record video?
I have no problem in recording audio in GarageBand, the problem is recording in sync audio and video so I don't have later to mix and sync both flows.
Maybe my question is not clear.

Record (video or audio) while simultaneously typing.

I do clinical interviews in which I would like to either video or audio record the process for later review. I would like to use a tablet to record while I type, but ipad does not allow this (recording stops when you switch apps). Does anyone know of an app that allows this functionality, or if Windows based tablets afford this? If not, is there anyone out there developing a better transcription program than is now available through Dragon, etc?

HT201066 Record video and audio stream

There doesn't appear to be any way to simply record the audio going to your speakers while recording the screen, at least not without using an internal or external microphone. Is there other software that will do this?

I can't think of an easier way since GB doesn't record video. To make the syncing easier you could do a little clapperboard effect, like clapping your hands, at the beginning of the recording. Then you should be able to align picture and sound perfectly.

Built in mic and isight records video but no audio- what happened?

My iMac won't record audio for iMovie. I have done this before; but now tried adjusting settings etc but still nothing. Sound comes out (Garageband, itunes, alerts etc), and sound goes in (Garageband; no problem) but it won't work for iMovie. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Recording Video and Audio at the same time

Hi!
I just want to know whether there are video recording options within Sountrack? I'd like to record (hopefully funny) videos (via the in-built camera) and add layers of sound immediately afterwards. Is this possible?

The way I tried doing this yesterday was by starting to record from my isight in iMovie 08 and then recording the audio in garage band at the same time.
That's a good idea! And will be much more "natural" than a later lip-sync.
After I finished I exported the audio iMovie and played around with the timing for about 10 minutes until I could sync up the audio to the video of what I was playing.
I would export the GB project to an audio file and then import the resulting AIFF into iMovie to finish the movie.
In my experience, syncing shouldn't be so hard - in iMovie, you get a kind of reverb effect if you're 1 or 2 frames off and listen to both audio tracks. This reverb vanishes once you're right on time.
For easier syncing, it could be helpful to do what they do in movies with a clapboard: Have a visual/optical clue with and impulse character, like clapping your hands, and use that to align video and sound. Fine tune by aligning the two audio tracks.

Can't record video or audio with my MBP's isghit

Everytime I try to record a video or a sound using quicktime and the isght in my MBP an error message saying the "recording could not create a file" disk may be full or not writeable". my disk is not full for sure... any ideas? Thanks

Recording video with audio using FaceTime

Hi, I'm stupid, I need help, this is probably very simple but I can't seem to make it work!
I have a new iMac 27inch, it has Facetime built in, or should I say it has a camera built in.
Basically I want to record a video for Youtube of me playing the guitar, how do I do this, is this possible.
I tried using iMovie, recorded away, played it back but there was no sound to it?
Any help greatly appreciated. thanks

If you look in System Preferences (under the Apple menu) in the Sound pane, under the Input tab, what device is selected? If you make a noise do you see the Input level change?
