Built in iWeb, hosted on .mac, trouble viewing in Safari?

I built my website (markspectorwrites.com) in iWeb and host it on .mac. On four different boxes (two G4s, one intel, I don't know which one my headhunter uses), the site appears to load a blank page. Not until I click in the browser window does the site appear. When I follow links to another page on the site, the same blank pages appear until I click in the browser window.
Admittedly my pages are fairly heavy, but this bug does not appear to effect Firefox browsers or Windows computers using Explorer.
This is a recent development. I built the site about a year ago and haven't updated the content in months. Is there anything I can do on my end to solve the problem? Or is this a bug to be reported to Apple?
Thanks in advance,
mark

It's problem with your domain forwarding, see this recent thread:

  • Trouble Viewing iWeb site on dot Mac account

I have a home office and I also have a studio. When I am at home working, I have no trouble viewing photo pages on my dot mac account from either Safari or Firefox.
When I am at my studio, however, I cannot browse my photo pages on Safari nor with Firefox.
Safari gives me the "server stopped responding" error and Firefox displays "the server timed out".
    So, what's up with this?
At the home office, I use wireless DSL access with a MacBook. At my studio, I'm using an iMac wirelessly on my network. The the service provided is through Comcast broadband cable modem.
On both machines, I have iLife & iWork 08. I do not sync my dot mac account with the 2 machines. The original files for the photo pages reside on my studio iMac.
So why can I browse my way through my photo pages when I'm surfing the web from my home office, but am unable to see them when I'm working at my studio?
Thanks for assisting me if you can.

I will when I go back to my studio. I'm just trying to understand where you are going with this. I have contractors who work in and out of my studio with their laptops. They use XP & Vista and they have absolutely NO problem what so ever accessing my photo pages. In fact, when I couldn't access from my iMac, I had one of them check to see if the site was down. They could see my pages just fine with no problem. So...if they can reach them using the same network while sitting at the desk next to mine...why can't my iMac reach the pages?
    Thanks.

  • Trouble view Mac pdf

I am having trouble viewing a pdf that has been created on a Mac.  The text is in the form and if I highlight the area, the text will appear.
I am trying to view information in a pdf form that was created on a Windows based machine and then completed on a Mac.
The Advanced  Document Properties show the
DF Producer: Mac OS X 10.7.5 Quartz PDF Context
    PDF Version: 1.3(Acrobat 4.x)
I am using Adobe Reader XI on Windows 7 and have the same problem on a Windows 8 machine using the current version of Adobe.
I can open the document without an error message but the form appears blank.  When I left click on one of the form fields I can see the text in the field.  I can only see one field at a time and the from prints blank fields.  I thought the text might be a white font on a white back ground, but can not find an area for text formatting.

The user filled out the form using Mac Preview which breaks the form. Here's more info: Correcting PDF Form Field Appearances after Saving with Preview on the Mac

  • Built in iWeb....Hosted elsewhere?

hello all, I need some info concerning my site that I built in iWeb and currently hosted by Apple. The site is really simple but I have a need for faster downloading by clients. Is it possible to have a site built in iWeb yet hosted by another company i.e, Network Solutions?
I know there might not be a simple answer to this question and I already have a request out to NetSol, but haven't heard back yet.
any info simple or complex would be greatly appreciated....
    thanks,
    Eric

Using a commercial hosting service will give you faster and more reliable downloads - if you pick a good company!
This is only part of the story. To get maximum download speeds you have to optimize your files before upload.
There are two applications that will do both optimizing and upload.....

  • I am having trouble viewing the entire content of a PDF opened with adobe reader on my ipad.

I am having trouble viewing the entire content of a PDF opened with adobe reader on my ipad. Mi am able to view the file in its entirety on my Mac but not on my ipad.  I have tried saving it to acrobat but that doesn't work either.  Any suggestions please.

    Hi,
When you say the entire content, do you mean some parts of the pdf are not getting displayed or is it going out of the screen?
Please send a pdf you are having issues with on chmaheshatadobedotcom, it will help us investigating the problem.

  • Issues with publishing my iWeb site to .MAC - Progress bar freezes at 100%

Well, as topic says, i'm having troubles publishing my iWeb site to .MAC now since upgrading to '08. The progress bar reaches full circle, but then nothing. Left it uploading to .Mac for well over 2 hours one time while out of the house...nada. Sometimes i get an error message, sometimes not and have to close iWeb while it's still publishing.
    Any feedback regarding this?
    Thanks in advance.
    /Rich

Update: After 36 hours, I have successfully managed to upload my entire website via the "Publish All to .Mac" option. I now have blue indicators on the left side of my iWeb program in place of those pesky red ones. How did I do it? Well, I'm not sure. But on my last attempt I looked at the problem from a different perspective, so I took an alternate approach. I had a feeling that I was experiencing a network timeout issue caused by a 3rd party software, so I created a Whitelist entry on my website filtering software that allows unlimited access to "idisk.mac.com";; and "web.mac.com";; domains. I've got two kids at home, so I'm running the free OpenDNS Dashboard service on my network which provides content filtering (blocks adult site, phishing site, etc..). I started using this service two weeks ago. My last website update was a week before that. I figured I had nothing to loose by trying. To my surprise, it worked. Now, it took almost two hours to publish, of which the pie indicator was in the  "filled" position for a nerve racking hour. To reconfirm,  I then made a minor change to one of the pages on my website and re-published. This time using the "Publish to .Mac" option in place of the ALL option and once again it worked. It took less than 5 minutes. Now, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, maybe Apple fixed the problem, or maybe my website filtering service was causing some type of time out issue all along??  Don't know.. But at least for now, I'm a happy camper since I have my site up.

  • I have built sites on my imac, mac mini and MBA all in iweb09

i have built sites on my imac, mac mini and MBA all in iweb09 is there anyway to get them all on the same machine ? (i use mobile me)

    Here's what worked for me,
I have two sites, one I mad on my macbook and one I made on my iMac.
First go into the "Library" Folder. In there you will find a folder labeled application support.
Go into that folder and you will find another call iWeb. Your site is in there.
So I took the file for the site out of the iWeb folder on my macbook, and copied it to my
    iMac.
I keep them separately. If i put the file from my Macbook into the iWeb folder on my iMac, it would replace the file that is already there. When you start iWeb it will automatically open from that folder.
SO to keep them separate and organized, and to open the one you want there is a little trick.
First copy them all to the machine you want them on.
Take all your site's files and keep them in their own folders in the location you choose.
Make sure that on the machine you are using there is nothing in the iWeb folder native to that machine. Just move that file to another location where you wont lose it.
Now, start iWeb. When you do, iWeb will prompt you to either create a new site or allow you to choose one from a location of your choice. Tada! That is when you can choose whichever site you want to work on from the location where you are keeping them.
    Good luck.
What is your site by the way?
    mine are www.kloran.com and www.myenglishimages.com

  • IWeb/Domain Forwarding/.mac question

    Hello Everyone
I have been lurking in the forum for some time, and now have a question. I did a search for it without any luck, so here goes.
I have a website I created using iWeb, with a domain I purchased from GoDaddy. I have domain forwarding and domain Masking both enabled. The issue I have is that each page shows only the purchased URL. In other words, I cannot direct someone to an individual page. I would like the pictures page to show up as purchased domain/pictures, and the links page to show up as purchased domain/links.
We had a discussion involving this on a MMUG I belong to. There are 3 of us who all have domains purchased from GoDaddy. The 2 of us hosting on .Mac have the above mentioned issue with the URL. The one person hosted elsewhere (not GoDaddy), has distinct URL's for each page. This leads me to believe the root of the issue resides with .Mac hosting. Does this make any sense?
FWIW, I asked the same question to .Mac support and got nowhere. They just sent me a response explaining what domain forwarding is.
    Dual 2.0 G5 Rev A - PowerBook 17" 1.33   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The masking feature that you describe is just that.... it masks the actual URL with whatever URL you give it...in this case the URL for your domain. So if you type in http://www.yourdomain.com and have it masked and forwarded to your .Mac pages, that URL is the only URL you will ever see in the address bar of your browser. This is the expected behavior for masking.
There are some different things you can do with your domain, though...
Remember that your forwarded domain basically replaces the relevant portion of your .Mac address. I will use my domain name and .Mac iWEb address for example.
    http://www.dirtdoog.com ==> forwards to http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb
So anytime I see my .Mac URL, I can replace the whole initial section with my domain name...
    http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb/kate/MyWorld/MyWorld.html
    can be directly replaced with...
    http://www.dirtdoog.com/kate/MyWorld/MyWorld.html
And because I have masking turned on, this is the URL that will stay in my address bar.
For your purposes, you might be interested in assigning subdomains. This feature is located under "Total DNS control". It lets your replace the "www" with a sub-domain that again can be forwarded to any URL. You can use this to forward directly to your photos page using this...
    http://photos.yourdomain.com
That would work too, if you had a page that you commonly like to give out to people.

  • Trouble Viewing 3D PDF with Windows XP  after installing Adobe Reader X

    Hi,
I have updated my Adobe Reader X last week ( April 2012 ) and since then I am having trouble viewing 3D PDF on my web browser, both IE 8 and Firefox. I am using Windows XP.
The warning message I got are shown as follow:
"Some features have been disabled to avoid potential security risks. Only enable these features if you trust this host: (and the hosting website of the 3D PDF goes here)"
Adobe Reader X will allow me to view the 3D model when I select "Trust this host one time only", but it does nothing if I choose to "Trust this host always".
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Peter H.

    Hi Ankit,
Here is an example: http://www.catalogds.com/db/service?domain=newport&command=showProduct&category=root&produ ct=sl51bm
Just click on the "View 3D Model" button and it will bring up another window/tab with a 3D PDF.
I will try changing the setting in the Trust Manager panel when my Windows XP computer is available later today.
    Thank you.

  • Safari will not load sites hosted on .Mac

Ever since the most recent update, I have not been able to view any of my four websites hosted on .Mac. It doesn't hang with the spinning ball or crash, it just goes to a blank screen...no error warnings or anything. It does this on all four of our household Macs (they all have the latest update). I can pull up these sites perfectly on any other browser.
Anybody else having this problem? Is there a way to revert to the older version of Safari or a fix?
I've tried emptying the cache and sometimes that resolves it, but not for long...then it's right back to the same old same old and sometimes it doesn't help at all.
Thanks for any and all input on this matter!

Are you accessing the sites directly or through URLs that are being forwarded to your .mac sites? If it is the latter, it is probably the same problem being discussed in:

    Hey there,
I'm having trouble viewing QT trailers, especially HD trailers, that used to download and play perfectly from Safari.
Is anyone else having this new problem ?
    thanks,

I'm back.. Found the problem.. Go to User/Library/Preferences.. and thow away (or move to the desktop) the following files. com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist and com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist I suspect its that second one that does the trick. But it doesn't hurt to pitch them both... I don't think. Hope this helps

  • Trouble viewing online video with Pismo

I am having trouble viewing video online. But not all video. For instance, I can view clips on YouTube without a problem, but clips that play on CNN.com or NBC.com (i.e.) stutter and do not flow smoothly.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

If you have not installed Flip4Mac, a free upgrade to support .wmv formats, you should do so.
That is a well know problem. It is caused by the processor-intensive decoding required by some video formats.
The solution is to upgrade your PowerBook to a newer old Mac with a G4 or better that includes faster and more advanced numeric processing.
If your videos appear in a player with controls, waiting for the download to complete before allowing the movie to play improves the situation. In QuickTime Player, you can "step" through ALL the frames as fast as possible (but with no sound) by using the right-arrow key. This will show you what you missed when it jumped frames to keep up.
