Built in Map App on Iphone 4

I have an iphone 4 with ios 5. I was using the built in "map" app today and was expecting it to tell me directions. Does it not have this capibility?

I have also noticed that the data from section that usually displays data from TOM TOM and others now just says others. Has anyone encountered this before or know how to get the Satellite function on maps back?

Your phone is "stuck" in the Chinese version of maps. This also happened to me once I got back from China recently. I believe I solved the problem by logging out of iCloud and reloging in.
BTW the App Store app was also stuck in China. It only displayed Chinese characters and I had to log out and relogin.

Please Help : Iphone 5 built in maps app blank issues

My built in map application doesnt work. I see the blue dot updating my location, but doesnt show any maps. Just a blank screen. I can pull directions and turn by turn navigation. Everything works but the road/street maps is blank. Does anyone know a fix to this problem? Its soo weird its like after i updated to the new firmware it stopped working.

Thanks PJL123, I honestly didn't even know that was available. I did it and it looked like all my apps were in that task bar. So, I cleared it and rebooted. Unfortunately the Maps App has the same issue. Thanks much for teh suggestion. I'm sure that memory was bogged down with all the apps in residence.

I just updated my iPhone 4 to IOS 6 and the map.app does not show traffic even after I selected "Show Traffic." How can this be fixed. I live in a high traffic ares.

That's because you need the latest version of iTunes, and it requires 10.5.8 or later.

How to bring up native map app on iphone 5 through navigateToUrl

Hi All,
One of our existing ios Application (FB 4.6 with Air 3.1) using navigateToUrl("https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Current+Location&daddr=xxxx") to bring up the native map apps to show the route between user current location and destination address.
It works perfectly on iphone 4s below, However, this is not the case any more on iphone 5.
Is there any work around for this? Or what should be right Url to pass in navigateToUrl to get iphone 5 native map app working.

Thanks. Seems like this cropped up after the iOS 6 upgrade. Too bad Apple doesn't quality control their software before release. Something like alarm sounds is a pretty big oversight, kind of like maps. Your solution is right on the money even if it is a very roundabout way of getting to the desired result. A simple software fix would be to offer a sounds/vibrate option for ringtones, reminders, and alarms at the "settings" level. Other than oversight, I cant think of an ulterior motive for having it buried in ringtones. Thanks again for the fix!

HT4528 native map app on iphone 4S does not show detail

I have an Iphone 4S and the native Apple map application fails to load the map image. It used to work fine, and now does not. See attached image.
I tried shutting down and restarting. I tried rebooting. I tried upgrading to iOS 6. I tried doing a reset....and it still doesn't work....also, as its the native map app, it's impossible to uninstall and reinstall. Anyone ever come across this?

Check your restrictions.
Note that default apps cannot be deleted and thus will not have an x.

I accidentally deleted the built-in Maps app from my iPhone 4s. How can I get it back?

I'm not sure how I managed to delete it, since I thought built-in apps couldn't be deleted. It's also missing now on iTunes so I'm at a loss as to how to get it back. Tried shutting down and restarting but that didn't work.

You can not delete built-in Apps. You must have accidentally moved it into another folder.
Try the following...
Try searching for it using Spotlight.
Try a reset. Press and hold the Sleep and Home buttons for about ten seconds, ignore the red slider, until the Apple logo appears then release. This is the equivalent of a re-boot. You will not lose any data.
Try resetting the Home Screen Layout
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout

My built in youtube app on iphone 4s isn't working!!

my youtube app used to work on both 3g signal and wi-fi but lately it says "cannot open " when i want to watch a video with a 3g signal but it works with a wi-fi signal i dont know whats caused this problem i havent jailbroken or downloaded anything its a new phone from apple unlocked, i have tried switching off and restaring but no luck any ideas.....should i contact apple please help

How can I disable phone number recognition in the built-in Notes app for iPhone 4S?

I don't want 7-digit numbers to be automatically recognized as phone numbers. It's too easy to inadvertently tap a number and summon a dialog box asking if I want to place a call. I don't routinely keep phone numbers in Notes, so this feature isn't often helpful to me, and I'd like to disable it. Pleas help.

The built in Maps apps requires a data connection to download mapping data. So, if you want to avoid data costs, you need to purchase a navigation app that stores the data locally on your phone.

IPhone not showing in Maps app on Mac

I am using an iPhone 5 with the latest 7.0.3 update. My mid 2009 Macbook Pro is running the latest OSX Mavericks.
When I use the directions option in the Maps App, my iPhone does not show up as an option to share the directions.
What setting do I need to change to enable this feature?

Updated my iPad 2 to ios6 and wish I didn't. Lost the wonderful maps app and I'm miserable. Is there a replacement app coming from google with street view for iPad?

Looking to the community for a suggestion for the best replacement map app for my ipad2. I regret "upgrading" to ios6 when I lost the old maps app. I used it daily and had perfect functionality for my purposes. Now I wish I'd researched it more before I clicked '"install." Is there a google replacement coming soon with street view that works like the old one? Is apple working on fixing the existing app to include the features of the old app? So sad....wish I could go back!

I tried the google Maps app on my iPad2 but it looked terrible. Blurry when expanded to 2X, clumsy and not intuitive. Terrible for my purposes and way different from the old Google Maps app. Per International Business Times (12/13/12):
"While iOS users may be rejoicing at the return of their favorite navigation app, it should be noted that Google Maps has not yet launched for the iPad. The version currently available in Apple’s App Store is only for the iPhone, and Apple Maps will still act a the default Maps App on iPhones even after Google Maps has been installed."
Perhaps it'll look/behave better when an iPad version is eventually released. But thank you anyway.
