Built In Microphone Has Disappeared

Heyas, I don't know if this is a Lenovo or Windows problem, to be honest, but considering it had to do with my hardware, I figured this was the best place to start!
I have a T61 7659XAU, running Windows Vista w/ Service Pack 1. And, well, the built in microphone seems to no longer be installed. I have used it several times in the past, but haven't for a few months but something came up where I blah blah you're probably smart enough to figure out that I want to use it.
However, when I go into my control panel, it says that no audio recording devices are installed. I didn't do anything here, but I figure someone else probably uninstalled it or something, and I don't know how to bring it back up. Any help would make me very happy!

yes i was, but the issue has resolved itself. after a couple of restarts it reappeared and is working fine. straaaaange.
Anyone know why that might be?
Thanks anyway.

  • I have updated with os X 10.10.2 and my built in microphone has stopped working. need immediate solution for this.

Currently I own 13.5" Macbook Air (mid 2012) with OS X 10.10.2 running on it. Ever since I upgraded to it, the built-in microphone has stopped working.
I made Facetime calls but my voice was not able to transfer/hear on the other side. Moreover i tried checking the "Sound Input levels" in the System Preferences and they all are perfect. When i speak the volume recognition bars does not show any movement or change, indicating no Input Volume.
Kindly look into this matter and take necessary steps to resolve this issue.

  • Satellite A300-1NO - built in microphone has dim sound

    Hello everybody.
I've noticed that my built in microphone has very low volume. When I'm voice chatting, people hardly hear what i am speaking. I've got Realtek HD Audio Manager, downloaded the sound driver from the Toshiba website. Everything set to 100%, microphone boost is only 20 dB because 30dB is too noisy. I checked webcam assistant too. I don't know what should I do.
When I use external microphone, it sounds like OK. But the built in mic is quiet and flat, dim.

i downloaded the driver from there, "sound-20080728120308.zip" now i have 6.0.1.5599 version of sound driver. now it's louder, but i don't know if it is now good quality or not. i've uploaded a recorded voice
everything set to 100% percent, boost is 30 dB. noise reduction is ON, acoustic echo cancellation ON, default format 16bit, 48000Hz (DVD quality)
my external microphone is still better than built in. at least built in mic is now louder than it was

  • Built-In Output has disappeared?

I was using my mac today. Just playing MineCraft. I left to eat dinner with my family and after that i went gaming on another PC. When I returned to the mac 4 hours later he was still running. So I quit all applications but did not shut down. I set the screen into sleep mode using an active screen corner and went doing something else.
I came back like 1 minute later and the mac was shutdown. I started it and while it was booting i disconnected my external speakers, USB Hub, ThunderBold-DVI Display and the charger and left only one external Hard Drive connected.
Once it was booted I logged in and tried to listen to some music. This was not possible because I could not hear anything. I went into SystemPreferences/Audio/Output and the option for Built-In Output was gone. The only options where Digital out, SoundFlower 32bit and SoundFlower 64bit. (For the record: SoundFlower is a utility software which I use for recording the system sound for my videos.) I could not change the volume and  Couldn't hear anything through my recordings in SoundFlower. So I rebooted. I heard the duuun sound at the startup so I knew the output was working correctly but once again when I logged in I couldn't hear anything.
Nothing is working. I can't get it to work through System Preferences nor Audio MIDI Setup. If I connect my earphones the output changes the Headphones and that works but when I disconnect it my mac becomes terribly slow for like a minute and Audio MIDI Setup crashes and the output changes to Digital Out. There is no red laser light in the plug on the left of my mac so I am out of ideas of what might cause this issue.
    Any leads?

  • I have a Compaq CQ 70 and have just installed Windows 7 and my inbuilt microphone has disappeared?

Does anyone know how to reinstall it as I need it to use on Skype. Thank you.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    You're very welcome.
Windows 7 is a great operating system, and normally the drivers it installs are fine. But the generic drivers that are loaded don't always cover everything, such as what you experienced with your mike not working, but the speakers did.
I once had a similar issue...I installed Windows 7 on a HP dc7600, and the audio worked fine out of my plugged in speakers, but it did not work out of the built in PC speaker. I was at a loss to figure out why. I knew the speaker had worked in XP, so I knew it wasn't broken.
On a hunch, I went to the Realtek website and downloaded the newest audio drivers for Windows 7, and voila, my internal PC speaker worked fine.
    Enjoy!

  • Which Canon Camcorder has the best built in microphone for recording musical instruments

Which Canon Camcorder in the affordable price range has the best built in onboard microphone for recording musical instruments
    Thanks.

    TheBee,
    Thanks for writing!
The built-in microphones on the camcorder are fairly similar.  When you're recording music, we recommend the use of an external microphone.
The mic you use really depends on what you're recording and where.
So we may better assist you, please provide a bit of information regarding the type of recordings you'll be making, the music and the setting (i.e. what kind of venue, your distance to the music, etc).

  • How do I use the built-in microphone on my iMac while using Windows XP?

My iMac has a built-in microphone. My computer is set up with a partition to run either mac or windows. I would like to use the built-in microphone feature when I am using Windows XP. Is there any way that I can do this?

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
assuming you have installed the neccessary BootCamp Drivers from the OSX Leopard DVD the internal mic is useable with any kind of recording software.
Windows itself has a rather rudimentary Audiorecorder program built-in.
For a more sophisticated recording program have a look at Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

  • [SOLVED] HP420 and Built-in microphone don't work.

I have a trouble with my on-board microphone in my laptop (hp-420), it was working some months ago (with previous kernel) and I didn't use it for a while, after several upgrades now I tired to use it and it doesn't work. Second microphone, a jack, doesn't work either, and it's arch related, because I did some tests in windows (have dual boot) and both the built-in and jack work fine. So far I have tried testing alsa configurations, played with preferences and some other things I have read over the internet and in arch forums, but no luck at all. I may think it's kernel related but I'm not sure as I'm not an expert. Also sound works fine, it's only the built in microphone the one I can not get to work. I whish someone could help me or guide me.
So all the info I could gather about my machine and the sound

What is under the switches tab?
Oh -- By the way, that picture is over the size limit defined in the forum rules in tems of pixels, but the file size is okay.  I'll let it slide.  Watch the bumping as well.
If you want to post the switches tab, upload it to someplace like http://img3.imageshack.us/, copy the thumbnail (which has the link to the original)  back here, and you are golden.
I had a bear of a time getting the microphone working on my HP DV4, but it does work.  I'll look at the set up when I get home tonight [USA-PDT].
Sorry for the picture and the "bumping"... I have asked in irc in arch and alsa channels and no luck yet... one guy from alsa said I had to wait for the alsa-driver-1.0.24 package (currently I have alsa-driver-1.0.23) but it is weird because the microphone worked some months ago...
So here is what it is under the switches tab

  • Memory on phone has disappeared overnight!

    Hi
    I have the 6300.
It has a built in memory card which has disappeared overnight.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Much appreciated.
    Thanks

Whoa! Maybe someone has sneaked in to your phone.

  • How can i use the built-in microphone at the same time as using my earphones? (they have an external mic attached)

I am recording stuff on garageband and i need to hear other tracks as I'm playing, but I have to play them through external earphones so that the they don't overlap onto the one I'm creating.
The wire for my earphones has an external microphone attached to it, however, I have no desire to use this microphone as it is ridiculously sensitive and picks up even the slightest vibrations when the wires rub against my cheek or my t-shirt.
Therefore, I need to use the built-in microphone when recording. Except that, whenever I plug in the earphones to the iMac, garageband automatically switches to the external microphone. I went in to the Garageband preferences, and saw that it was set up for recording through the built-in mic, which is strange because input is clearly coming from the external.
So, I went into the iMac System preferences > sound > input. There are three options here: Internal microphone, Line-in, and Soundbooth 3.0.
What I found is that whenever I plug my earphones into the iMac, the option for 'Internal microphone' changes into an option for 'external microphone'. Now, I am fairly sure that an 'external microphone' is EXACTLY the same thing as a 'Line-in', but I'm not so sure now, so please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
How do I stop the iMac from changing 'Internal microphone' to 'External microphone'? It is very important that I am able use the earphones and the Built-in Mic at the same time.

    Hi John,
I think the only way is to get an iMic...

How to use built in microphone on ipad3 just for audio no dictation

If you just want to record a a voice memo, use the included Voice Memos app. That has nothing to do with Siri.

  • After my iPad 2 upgraded to IOS 5.0.1, built in Microphone not working

Just what I said, my iPad 2 upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 from IOS 5 on last week, the built in microphone is not working anymore, I can't record the video with sound, and called my friends with Facetime, they can't heard my voice.  Then I already restored IOS 5.0.1 for a few time and built in microphone is still not working. Does anyone iPad 2 has the same issue after using IOS 5.0.1?  And anyone can help me to fix this?  Thx.

I've read other posts about this, and while it seems an odd coincidence, you likely have a faulty microphone.  On the right hand side you'll see similar posts.  The majority of people who all of the sudden had mic's that wouldn't work after updating, wound up getting their iPads replaced at the Genius Bar at their local Apple Store.  You could try rebotting, by pressing and holding BOTH the home and power buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go fo both buttons and your iPad will restart.  If that doesn't work, I would not recommend restoring.  Instead, make an appointment at the Apple Store and if found defective it will be replaced.  Do remember to create a backup before going.  It will make setting up a new device exactly as you had it, much much simpler.
