Built-in moderation facility in community site collection

hi,
 Would like to know what are the Built-in moderation facility features available in community site collection template and its subsites.
help is appreciated

A good response to this is the summary of what a community site is from this
NBSP Community Site summary article.  I'll quote directly from it for your ease of reading
Feature
Description
Discussions
Members can post an opinion or question to
start a new discussion. Other members can reply to and like the post. The member
that started the discussion has the ability to mark a chosen response as the
‘Best Reply’. Moderators have the ability to mark a chosen discussion as a
‘Featured Discussion’.
Categories
Members can create categories to organise
their discussions. When a new discussion is posted it can be assigned a category
which other users can filter by.
Badges and Reputation
Moderators can assign badges to members to
indicate their status within the community, e.g. Subject Expert. Members can
earn reputation by posting in discussions and through recognition by other
members of their posts (e.g. when their content is liked or marked as a best
answer).
Members
A list of all members, including their
badges and reputation earned, is held on the community site. Community Sites can
be set to allow any new users to join or an approval process can be set to
manage new members.
Hope that helps.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you got an error when you search in the Community Portal.
    Did you install the March Public Update?
    In my environment, I had installed the March Public Update, and I used the search box in the Community Portal, it worked well.
    You can install the March PU, then check whether it works.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Enable reporting of offensive content not working in sharepoint 2013 community site

    i am trying to enable "Report to moderator option" in community site but when i checked option "Enable reporting of offensive content" in a community site settings and clicked Ok. I am getting an error "The file is not checked out.You
    must first check out this document before making changes."
    i am not sure why i am getting this error, the same thing works fine in other community site's i have created.
    This community is a backup restore of another community site.
    Is there any other way by which i can enable 'reporting of offensive content'.
    Any pointer's to solve this will be helpful.

    You just need to
    Enable the Reporting of Offensive Content feature

  • Building Site Collections in SharePoint Online

    Hello all,
    Please forgive me for this very basic question, but I was not able to find the info online.
    Background info: I have a great deal of experience with SharePoint administration on-prem but not much experience with SharePoint Online. My current organization has O365 and wants to build a collaboration environment and an Intranet. I understand the information
    architecture practices that would have been common for this for an on-prem environment, and I understand that those have changed with 2013 and SharePoint Online due to the new practice of organizing everything under one web app.
    Between reading some articles and using my experience with on-prem, I am trying to design an organized information architecture that will facilitate both environments and the permissions structures they require. My tentative plan was to build one site collection
    for the Intranet under https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites (under which subsites would be built for various Intranet divisions), and then a number of individual site collections for the collaboration environment under https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/teams
    (/hr, /finance, etc., so that content owners and users could work in their own site collection without affecting a site collection belonging to someone else).
    This is the article that initially caused me to believe that this is possible/a good idea: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/richard_dizeregas_blog/archive/2014/09/01/sharepoint-online-information-architecture-considerations.aspx.
    "For [managed paths] you get the root, /search (explicit managed path), /sites (wildcard managed path), and /teams (wildcard managed path)."
    However this article leads me to believe that I will not be allowed to create any site collections at all, only subsites: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Plan-sites-and-manage-users-8e568d8d-3d65-42c4-99fa-f7285c9db842.
    "You cannot create additional site collections in SharePoint Online for Office 365 for Small Business."
    I understand the answer to this may depend on what version of O365 we have, and I am working to find that out.
    My understanding is that I cannot be made a SharePoint Online administrator without being a global O365 administrator: http://blogs.technet.com/b/lystavlen/archive/2012/06/14/understanding-the-administrator-role-in-sharepoint-online.aspx.
    "You cannot separate the roles of Office 365 global administrator and SharePoint Online Administrator."
    Thus, I don't currently have the level of access I need to browse around the administration area and find the answers to my questions that way. When the time comes, I will likely be given temporary access or will be working with an O365 global administrator
    to build.
    Main question: Will I be allowed to build site collections under managed paths?
    Larger question: How are others managing the information architecture for an Intranet and a Collaboration environment in SharePoint Online, especially if the answer to the prior question is no?
    Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.
    Shae

    Hi,
    According to the error message, the Microsoft.Online.SharePoint.Client.Tenant.dll seems not been loaded.
    You can find it in the path below:
    C:\Program Files\SharePoint Client Components\Assemblies
    A code snippet about how to retrieve a list of site collections in a tenant for your reference:
    const string username = "[email protected]";
    const string password = "password";
    const string tenantAdminUrl = "https://yourdomain-admin.sharepoint.com/";
    var securedPassword = new SecureString();
    foreach (var c in password.ToCharArray()) securedPassword.AppendChar(c);
    var credentials = new SharePointOnlineCredentials(username, securedPassword);
    using (var context = new ClientContext(tenantAdminUrl))
    context.Credentials = credentials;
    var tenant = new Tenant(context);
    SPOSitePropertiesEnumerable spp = tenant.GetSiteProperties(0, true);
    context.Load(spp);
    context.ExecuteQuery();
    foreach (SiteProperties sp in spp)
    Console.WriteLine(sp.Title);

  • How can I re-use an InfoPath form in several site collections?

    I have built an InfoPath 2013 form and published it to a SharePoint site. I want to use the same form, but publish it to various other site collections. I do not need the lists to interact with each other, but I would like to save the time of re-creating
    the same form over and over with the only difference being where they're published to. I attempted to change the main data connection of the form, but the modify button is greyed out. Is there a way to do this?

    Hi,
    If you want to publish one InfoPath form template for multiple site collections, you can publish it as Administrator-approved form template, then you can manage this template form from Central Administration site, and thenactivate it in required site
    collections as site collection feature.
    For more information you can see the following posts.

  • Setup Team Foundation Server - Team Site Collection - SharePoint Web Application Settings failed with error TF205014, TF250025

    Hi
    I have TFS server installed and working with other SharePoint farm.  (TFS installed,  SharePoint extension installed and Granted Access for TFS.
    When Setup TFS - SharePoint Web Application Settings,  It ask for the three values:
    Web Application URL:
    Central Administration URL:
    Default Location of team project collection sites:
    What notice about the TFS sites that are working is that they are Path Based Site Collection.  Created with SharePoint Web Application managed path (like
    http://spserver/sites/tfs_site1) and so it easy to see it will work.
    Web Application URL:  http://spserver
    CA URL :   http://spserver:portnumber
    Default Location :  Sites or any managed path
    We start using Host Name Site Collection (HNSC) to get the benefit of multiple unique site name without having multiple web application for each.  Work great but when we tried to setup and extend TFS service on the HNSC, we could
    not get them to work and got errors when trying different variation of path URL.
    After doing lot of searching on this, I came up pretty empty and I don't know if that is possible so my question is Have anyone able to setup TFS to work with SharePoint 2013 Host Name Site Collection?
    If you have, a simple yes will be great but please share or even if anyone think it is possible or not possible, please share too.
    Thanks in advance for any comment / suggestion.
    Swanl

    Hi  Swanl,
    I’m afraid that we cannot setup TFS to work  with SharePoint 2013 Host Name Site Collection.
    Also you can  initial a new thread in Visual Studio Team Foundation Server forums:
    Team Foundation Server – General: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?forum=tfsgeneral
    More experts for Team Foundation Server will assist you, then you will get more information relation to your issue.
    For integrating SharePoint 2013 with Team Foundation Server 2013 you can have a look at the following blog:

  • Error Accessing Host Named Site Collections In SharePoint Foundation 2013

    We have a new SharePoint Foundation 2013 server that has one web application two host named site collections. We get the "This page can't be displayed" message when we try to navigate to either of the site collections. Adding the server's IP to
    the host file on the machine we are testing from doesn't help. We can ping the new sites from that machine. The web application does not have a host header.
    Web application URL = http://servername
    Site collection #1 URL = http://customer.company.com
    Site collection #2 URL = http://vendor.company.com

    Hi,
    I recommend to verify the things below:
    Check if site can be accessed with site collection administrator.
    Add the SharePoint sites to a trusted zone to see if the issue still occurs.
    As this issue can be caused by many reasons, you may check the ULS log for more detailed errors.
    For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.

  • SharePoint 2013 Site Collection shows logged on as different credential

    Hi
    I am getting report from from users who said when they access various Site Collections (not all the sites) and the logon credential at the top right hand conner show someone else credential.
    such like a user login the network as domain\John Doe and access a SharePoint site collection and the credential at the top right hand corner of the site page showed Mary West ...
    My understand is this credential at top right hand corner come from the UIF (User Information list) and indeed I looked into the UIF and found that Mary West user entry exist in the list and when I clicked on Mary West link it opened John Doe
    profile page.
    This happen only when they access SharePoint sites. How can a user ID cross with another user ID? I have never seen anything like this or couldn't find any information relate to this behavior
    Anyone have seen this or have any advise or suggestion where i can begin to troubleshoot, please advice
    Thanks so much in advance for any information
    Swanl

    Hi,
    Has the user domain\John has recently updated some of his information (such as the user's display name) in Active Directory Domain Services. The information was updated correctly in the user Profile Service Application. However, on the specific
    Microsoft SharePoint Site Collection, that information was not updated in the information list.
    To solve the issue, access All People group , you can modify the following URL in the browser:
    < Site URL>/_layouts/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0
    Remove the user from this group, this also removes the user from the userInfo table in the Microsoft SQL Server database. When you re-add the user, the user's information is updated in this table.

  • How can i add a special user to the "site collection administrators" of the personal site on sharepoint online when the personal site is creating ?

    when a new personal site is created on the sharepoint online 2013, then the administrator of this personal site will be himself. we can add another person to the "site collection administrators", then this person have full control of this personal
    site.
    but my request is : add this personal to the personal site when the personal site is creating, but not after the personal site has created ?
    Is anybody know how to do that?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to add a special user to the "site collection administrators" of the personal site on sharepoint online when the personal site is creating.
    Per my knowledge,
    there is no out of the box way to accomplish this with SharePoint.
    This is a forum which is supported for SharePoint On-Premise.
    Regarding SharePoint Online, for quick and accurate answers to your questions, it is recommended that you initial a new thread in Office 365 forum.

  • Search is not working for only one site collection

    Hi All,
    I have one issue where users are searching something on a site collection nothing is coming out.  Search is working on web application level but not in only one site collection.
    I checked the crawl log and found  below error for this site collection

    Hi Aditya,
    From the error message, there might be several reasons:
    Configure search time-out settings (Search Server 2010):
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee808892.aspx
    Please check the user accounts created under the home group that could push the limit of the ACL, and this error message may be occur:
    http://www.sweendog.net/blogengine/post/2012/02/03/The-Filter-Daemon-has-Timed-Out.aspx & http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/26755/sharepoint-2010-search-server-not-crawling-content-due-to-filter-daemon-timeout
    Make sure the search service account has access to SearchIndex share:

    If the links above doesn’t help, please collect more error message in ULS log for troubleshooting.
