Built Isight black image with yahoo ichat or skype

The cam works fine in Photobooth. I tested it on iMovie and it works there too. In Ichat, skype or yahoo a black screen appears.
Any ideas why it stopped working? Ithink that is a preferences o something like that.

Hi,
Go to System Preferences > Network.
Choose the connection method you are using in the second drop down. (Or click on it in the list)
Select the TCP/IP tab if it not the front one.
This should list your IP.
It possibly Says "Using DHCP" rather than anything else if still at default.
It lists the Sbnet Mask
DNS servers and the "router" IP (This will noramlly be the modem unless you have a router as well)
Make a note of these numbers.
The "Router" Ip is probably the same one that you typed intoa Web Browser to access the dset up pages
It is just a question of turning Off DHCP in the Modem
On the TCP/IP tab you then need to set it to "Manually" where it says USing DHCP now.
Then you need to type in the IP for your computer. (It can be anything between .1 and .255 as the last number EXCEPT for the number the "router" has)
So for a Linksys for example the "router" IP and set up access IP is 192.168.1.1
Under DHCP your computer may well get 192.168.1.100
The Subnet Mask will be 255.255.255.0
So you will type
192.168.1.xxx where xxx is any number but 1 in this case.
Then Subnet Mask and type 255.255.255.0
DNS servers are whatever was there before or what your ISPs DNS servers are.
Then type in the "Router" (For this imaginary Linksys it is 192.168.1.1)
Use the same link I oringinally posted and choose the App you want to have ports open for in the second page rather than iChat
The IP to type in when setting up Static routing is the one you choose for your computer.
It can be anything like I said except for the IP the "Router" (Modem) already has for it's set up pages.

(1) Here is how I would proceed to isolate the underlying problem that requires corrective action.
• Shut down everything.
• Then restart modem and allow its self-test to complete.
• Then restart router or wireless access point (if you have them) and allow self-test to complete.
• Then restart Mac.
• Use  > Software Update... (Update your Apple software if not current.)
• Then test Photo Booth or iMovie with no other apps else running to ensure they still work.
• Then quit your test app and try iChat with no other apps else running.
• If iChat works, quit iChat and try Skype with no other apps else running.
(2) If iChat works but Skype does not,
• Verify that you are using the latest version of Skype that is compatible with your OS X (10.5.8) Mac.
• Update if necessary.
• Then test Skype again with no other apps else running.
• If Skype problems remain but your camera works with everything else, Skype's comprehensive support system should best be able to help you use their product with your system.

Isight does work with Yahoo!

Well I tried using my Isight with Yahoo Messenger but it did not work. My friends cannot see me because their computers say my webcam is not online. Anyone can help?

Same problem here as the others who have posted. iSight was working fine with Yahoo Messenger until two days ago, but then suddenly started dropping out a moment after it connected. I also had just installed the QuickTime 7.1.1 update so I tried going back to version 7.0.1 using Apple's reinstaller to see if this might be the source of the problem

but no luck. It continues to drop out right after starting up.

Black Image with the Text Tool

When I try to edit text or add text in Photoshop CC, I get a completly black immage. I have to click in the layers panel to get ther image back. I am on a new laptop and new CC install.

CCIR camera in PXI1409 gives black image with synching noise

After installing a PXI1409 card we added a digital camera. This worked fine. A couple of days later we came back and found that the only image we get is black with white lines on it. The lines appear to be some sort of synching noise, and are only visible with the white reference level set very low.
We have tried reinstalling the card and the IMAQ software but to no avail. No changes in settings in MAX give a different image.
Any ideas?

1409 is an analog frame grabber.
- Does your camera also generate an analog CCIR signal that you connected to 1409?
- Did you configure the corresponding channel to acquire a CCIR signal in MAX?
- Did you try the same camera with a different frame grabber or the same frame grabber with a different camera?

Black images sometimes invisible with black theme

So, I have black theme for windows and had all sorts of kluges set up to make a black theme on websites in Chrome. After a while, I installed firefox to get around one of the problems it caused, and Firefox detected my settings and was much better from the get go.
One problem remains: sometimes images are invisible. For example, all but the last images on this page: http://what-if.xkcd.com/68/
I think I know what the problem is: 90% of the time, it's a simple white and black image with no boarder. The black stays black, while the background turns black, and the image is transparent. The image loads fine, but it's invisible.
A good way to fix it, 90% of the time, would be to make an addon that finds images, and before letting firefox display them, check if they are transparent and, if they are, check if they only use black. In that case, the image inverts them. This just seems like the most asthetically pleasing solution to me, of course: filling in the transparent areas with white would also work.
So, is there such an addon? It sounds easy to make. Would it work?
This is kind of a pain in the ass on certain cites that use images like this as link buttons.

Assuming you are not getting any errors during the acquisition in MAX and didn't change any of the attributes of the camera (running in the default mode), it sounds like the iris on your lens might be closed all the way that it's not letting any light in. Try adjusting the iris so there will be more light going to your sensor. If that doesn't work, try removing the lens from your camera in order to verify that your lens is not the problem. If all these don't make a difference on the acqired image, try a different camera or a different framegrabber that you know is configured properly and works.

IPHONE 5: Saving images to camera roll from an email results in a black image

I have emailed myself a couple images (medium res .jpgs) and when I open the email the colors are overly bright. When I then go to save them, they save as a very dark black image with a little bit of a blue outline of the image. Anyone know what the problem is? Thanks in advance!
PS these images are illustrations I have made in illustrator/photoshop. Not sure if that matters though.

Depending on the format of the video you may or may not be able to do this.
If its a supported format, like m4v or similar, you can tap and hold on the icon in the email and a box with options should pop up. One of them being "Save Video". This will save the video to the camera roll.
If you don't have the "Save Video " option you will not be able to save it your camera roll, but still might be able to save it to an App that can play the video by tapping the icon for the App in that same screen.

Solution to "Black image when adding a watermark in Aperture"

Hi,
I read an archived topic about people having issues with adding a watermark to their exported images using Aperture 1.5.2. I think the solution lies with what your current Display color profile (System Preferences > Display > Color) is set to and what color profile you used to create your watermark.
I created my original watermark using Photoshop CS2 and I believe that the watermark was saved using the sRGB Profle. However, I then calibrated my monitor using a Pantone Huey and it changed the color profile in my System Preferences. So every time I tried to export an image with a watermark from Aperture, I would get a black image with my watermark in the correct spot.
To solve the problem, I changed my Color Profile to sRGB Profile, then started Aperture. When I exported my image, everything came out properly.
Hope this is helpful to others.

I also just ran into this problem...my solution was an issue with the RAW fine tuning.
Images that used the new RAW fine tuning 2.0 (with Aperture 2) exported watermarks (I used a .psd file) just fine, but when exporting images with RAW fine tuning 1.1, a black box would show up around my watermark. So I migrated my images to RAW fine tuning 2.0 and it fixed the black box issue.

T400 keeps restarting after being re-imaged with Ghost

I built an XP image with the recovery disks from Lenovo.
Now I'm trying to dump this image on to other T400's that are straight out of the box and after the image is done loading the laptop will just keep restarting.
Please help.
Configuration:
- hard drive is set to ACHI (defualt)
- did a full disk image when dumping down.
I don't get a flashing cursor or error message the laptop will just restart aftee the Lenovo Screen.

how did you create the image? Did you capture the 4 boot blocks using the -IB switch?
There is a tip, a bit old and you can ignore the part about setting the predesktop area to disabled, but it should hopefully help you.

No images with isight ? ?

Hi,
I cant see any images with the isight camera on my new imac, the green light is on, but no images in Photo Booth, imovie and ichat. Need help. Thanks.

Your problem may be hardware related, but until you get better suggestions from iNtel Mac users, here are some common solutions that help most avoid a visit to their Apple Service Technician.
None of the suggestions is complicated, but the only way to find which one will work for you is to try each relevant item one-by-one until you find the one that fixes your Mac.
(0) Disconnect any unnecessary peripherals while you do your testing to rule out possible conflicts.
(1) Restart your Mac. Sometimes that is all that is required.
(2) If you use VMware Fusion to run Windows on your Mac, consider disconnecting iSight from your Virtual Machine as recommended by user "The.VCI" in this post.
(3) If you use an HP printer/scanner with your Mac, consider the "daemon" suggestions from user "parkersal" in this post.
(4) Check for any running applications, Login Items, or widgets that can use your iSight. (It is easy to forget widgets like Mirror in your Dashboard.) As explained in Apple's iSight "Your camera is in use by another application" message, iSight can be used by one application at a time.
(5) Try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in How to Troubleshoot iSight. You have already verified that the problem is not "application-specific." Be sure to also check whether the problem is "user-specific".
Click here if you need help creating a new user account to check whether your problem is "user-specific" during Troubleshooting.
(6) If resetting or the other troubleshooting suggestions do correct your problem, try the following:
• Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
• Repair permissions. (Click here if you need help.)
• Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (iNtel).
• Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
(7) Some iNtel Mac laptop users have also reported success after unplugging their Macs and leaving the battery out for half-an-hour to overnight. You might want to try unplugging EVERYTHING from your iMac to see if that might help you.
(8) If none of these suggestions help, I suggest that you take your iMac to your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for a professional check.
Please let us know what fixes it for you. That information may help others who also have your problem.
If you must post back for clarification or more information, please tell us if you are seeing any error messages when you try to use "Photo Booth, imovie and ichat". Perhaps you are seeing a message that no camera is connected or that your camera is in use by another application. Perhaps you see green or black screens where your iSight's image preview should be. The more details you can give, including whether your iSight shows as a USB device in your System Profiler, the more likely our next suggestions can be helpful.

Isight not working with ichat

I've ran into problems with my built-in isight camera not working with ichat. It says there hasn't been any information sent in the past 10 seconds and shuts down. It works fine on other programs like Yahoo Messenger and Skype though. Anyone know how to fix this?

Why won't my iSight webcam work with iChat?

I have an iSight webcam and a Power Mac G5. I can't get the iSight to work with iChat, but it works with Yahoo Messenger, although the image is choppy. I have cable internet access, and I am connected to a wireless router (though not wirelessly, but with an ethernet cable). Is the router somehow interfering with iChat and the iSight camera?

Balck Image with my isight

Hi
I have an imac G5 with 10.4.3.
few weeks ago i had a request for an update when i launched ichat. I think i have accepted.. And since that moment my isight is weird. Now when i launch my isight from ichat or from any soft t says my isight is busy. For example in ichat i have a black image.. and quick time says it cannot record a video.
I would like to reinstall the drivers of my isight but i bought it before tiger and i am pretty sure i won't be able to install them..
Do you have any ideas i coudl use ???

If you do not get a better explanation of iiDCAssistant here, Apple's Developer Connection mentions iiDCAssistant a couple of times in the "Mach Bootstrap Basics" section of Technical Note TN2083: Daemons and Agents. You can read more about the subject there, beginning with the introductory comments at the top of the page. As you will see, you are not expected to be interacting with iiDCAssistant (unless you are a developer.)
My iiDCAssistant works fine, as does my iSight while my Activity Monitor shows iiDCAssistant running.
My GUESS is that your iiDCAssistant was modified by the installer when you attempted to apply the 1.0.3 update that requires Panther (Mac OS X v10.3.7-10.3.9) to your Tiger (10.4.x) OS. Mac.
Although the updater is not required for (or apparently even supported by) Tiger, I can see that you really want to apply the iSight 1.0.3 Updater. The simplest way to do this is to take your iSight to someone who will let you use his OS X v10.3.7-10.3.9 Mac to apply the firmware update to your iSight.
If you do not know anyone who will let you do that, you have two choices:
(Choice # 1) You have already determined how to correct your problem: reinstall Tiger and leave 1.0.3 alone. Your Mac's Software Update... or iChat itself will tell you if you eventually need to update your software or firmware.
Because of the trouble you have been having, I would suggest that you back up any important data and then completely erase your drive before the Tiger install. This is the same suggestion made in paragraph (d) of Macintosh System Stability. You should also consider any of the other suggestions that are relevant to your system from that Topic.
Unless your Tiger installation instructions tell you otherwise, you may want to plug in your iSight before installing Tiger to see whether the Tiger install itself might update your iSight's Firmware.
If you had other difficulties with your previous Tiger installs, see Apple's Installing Software "Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Support" page for help.
Once you have reinstalled Tiger and repaired permissions, you should immediately apply the 10.4.4 Combo Updater using the method suggested in How I Update My Mac OS X.
Finally, run Software Update... and apply any remaining needed updates, finishing with a permissions repair.
Resist the desire to apply the unnecessary (for Tiger) iSight 1.0.3 Update.
(Choice # 2) If you are determined to apply the iSight 1.0.3 Update, here is how I suggest you do it:• back up your home folder
• erase your hard disk
• reinstall the Panther (10.3.x) OS that came with your Mac
• repair permissions
• apply the 10.3.9 Combo Updater as suggested in How I Update My Mac OS X
• repair permissions
• apply the iSight 1.0.3 Updater
• then reinstall Tiger and leave 1.0.3 alone using the directions above.Either of the two (Choices) should get your Mac working properly.
When you have time, please let us know what you did to make it work.

I search on the Apple Support site a driver to download, but there is only an updater (iSight Updater 1.0.3) which doesn't run on Tiger... Any help please ?? Thx

You probably don't need it, but the Tiger "iSight Updater" is located in the \System\Library\CoreServices\iSight Updaters\iSight Updater folder.
(You must look manually because SpotLight does not find it.)
Double click the "iSight Updater" there to run the Firmware update manually.

iSight "Product Revision Level" in your Mac's System Profiler shows the installed firmware version for external (Firewire) iSight.
Firmware 1.0.3 Update offers only "Improved audio performance". It does NOT enable audio or any other function, so that is NOT your problem with Skype or YMM. Search or post in their dedicated help/discussions for best and quickest help with those specific, non-Apple apps.
Regardless of whether System Profiler utility shows Firewire iSight's Firmware (Product) level of 1.0.2 or 1.0.3, external iSight ought to work. You can test your external iSight using the suggestions on this linked page:
