Bulk convert cdr vector to transparent psd

Hi Guys,
I need a little help, basically I have approx 200 .cdr vector files with black logos of various sizes, I need these converting to white logos with a transparent background not exceeding 275pixels x or y in .psd format (i dont ask alot!) an example can be seen here http://174.120.242.250/~kieranm/done.zip, i just need to find a way to make these changes and batch process.
Hope you guys might be able to help.
Kind Regards,
Kieran

Thanks for the suggestion, but I would never InDesign or any other WYSIWYG editor to design my ebooks, I'm afraid! I started doing web design almost two decades ago, and got into ebooks a year or two ago, and do all my coding "by hand" -- I would never do it any other way. No offense to Adobe or any fans of ID, of course!
As I mentioned in my last follow-up, I did manage to figure out (via a tutorial on another site) how to get my SVG to be transparent, but I still just can't seem to figure out how to get the file size down. I've tried saving with all different sorts of options selected, but even still I can't get my image (that I've been using just to try to figure things out) below ~280k -- whereas the same image as a transparent PNG is a mere 18k. Speaking with others on the MobileReads forum, this seems ridiculously large, and there should be some way of getting the file size down. I'm actually thinking of looking into third-party programs (freeware, probably!) which might provide a solution, i.e. where I can create/save an SVG in Illustrator, but then run it through some other proggie just to get rid of all the "crap" and bring the file size down to something reasonable.
And my only other question (that's left over) is regarding that "Save for Web and Devices" option, of course -- I gather that's something that must have come out after CS6, though?

  • How can I place a transparent psd into Illustrator CS4 without effecting my spot colors?

    So, I'm very naive about printing processes and am working with an online book building company. I've asked them how I need to fix this, but don't expect great advice from their design team.
    When saving in Illustrator, I've been receiving the error:
    "When spot colors are used with transparency, changing them to process colors outside of illustrator can generate unexpected results."
    This effected the printing because it left a halo in the shape of the placed transparent .psd. So I need to know how to flatten the transparent psd or something in order to not have it effect the colors below it.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Monika and John. I've been working in Spot colors simply because my client has limited my palette for the screen printing we've been doing on ceramics in the past. Now we want this book to match the colors on the ceramics. But if Pantone bridge back to CMYK would work, I'll do it. I have been saving to PDF by making a combined pdf directly from the .ai folder. My links are all embedded.
    Is there a way to convert all the colors in the document to CMYK at once? Otherwise I'm looking at a very long week.

  • Export a PDF and convert the vector-graphics to pixel-graphics

    Hey,
    i want to export a PDF out of indesign CS3 and convert all vector-graphics to pixel-graphics.
    Is there any solution, maybe a plugin, to do this?
    Thanks!!!!

    You could apply a transparency effect to your vector objects that doesn't effect their appearance and make a flattener preset which forces everything to rasters—then export a flattened PDF using that preset. Why do need rasters?

  • Transparency flattening - unwanted color added to transparent PSD files (IDCS3)

    Recently (after switching to CS3) I began experiencing frustrating problems in relation to (what I think is the problem) transparency flattening.
    The problem seems to evolve in the printing process where "something" messes up the transparency by adding a 1% (typically) magenta color to the transparent flattened image. (I´m using transparent PSD-files)
    This means that the bounding box-area of the image is actually visible in print! I can see this on my own prints (tested on several in-house printers), but worse is that I´m having the same problem with the material I receive from the printing house.
    - When I check my PSD files in Photoshop there is no color but a transparent background.
    - In Indesign I´ve tried a lot of different output settings and job option files but with the same result.
    - In Acrobat my "output preview" measures no deviations, but when I (touch up tool > right click) edit image from inside Acrobat and the image file opens up in Photoshop the 1% is added.
    For now I´m dealing with the problem by adding clipping paths to my PSD files which is a pretty untenable situation!
    Apparently the problems seems to occur also on transparent .tiff filer etc.
    I´m working in CS3 on OSX and I haven´t changed my workflow whatsoever since CS2.
    The printing house is aware of the problem but haven´t experienced the problem before.

    Sounds to me like an RGB/CMYK colour space issue.
    If your image is in RGB but your InDesign document export settings are for CMYK (or vice versa) then you have Adobe converting the colours for you. Since there is a colour shift between the two colour spaces, you have no control over how the conversion happens.
    In photoshop, "white" is not the same between RGB and CMYK and I often find there is 1 or 2% magenta in the mix (just as you're finding) when going from RGB to CMYK.
    The transparency flattener function is pretty much the same as flattening the layers in photoshop - when it gets to the bottom layer you get one image with a box around it. the same in InDesign - everything that has a transparency (including images with no background) is flattened down on all the objects underneath to create a single image. If the transparent object is just on the paper then it gets a white box around it.
    I suggest you check that your images are converted to CMYK in photoshop, and that your PDF export settings in InDesign convert all colours to CMYK. then ensure you use the High Quality in the transparency flattener settings.
    Good luck!

  • After Preflighting a PDF, using Convert to CMYK, Flatten Transparency and Prepress Profile Convert to CMYK only the resultant PDF has a grubby halo along the edge of some white type sitting on an image. The type is part of the image.

    It seems I will have to convert from Video_TS file to MP4 file (as the option from CDR file to MP4 is not available on Handbrake). This is okay.
    When converting to MP4 file on handbrake what are the choices I need to make?
    Format: here I have chosen MP4
    Codecs: Here I have chosen MPEG-4 Video / AAC Audio
    Framerate: Same as source
    Encoder: FFmpeg
    Under Quality
    Target Size (MB): Nothing is filled here
    Average Bitrate kbps: 1500
    Constant Quality: 50%
    GrayScale Encoding: This is not ticked
    2-pass encoding: This is ticked
    Are these choices okay?

  • Bulk convert text to PDF with Acrobat

    Hi. When I convert a text file to PDF with Acrobat X Pro the character spacing in the resulting file is incorrect.  The columns of numbers which do correctly line up in the text file, do not line up correctly in the PDF file.  I adjust the settings for the conversion in the CREATE PDF FROM WEB PAGE box and I choose a fixed-width font.   If I use Adobe PDF Converter (the printer driver) the result is perfect.  If I open the text file with Microsoft Word and then convert it to PDF with PDFMaker, it is also perfect. I want to use Acrobat so that I can bulk convert my 300 text files to PDF.   Can you please help as I have tried everything?  Thank you.  Paul Pontikis (Deakin University)

    Thank you for responding LoriAUC.  I have 300 (*.txt) files that I only ever open with Notepad. I don't every open them in a web browser.  I want to bulk convert them to PDF.  The orientation of the resulting PDFs must be landscape.  It appears that the only way to select LANDSCAPE in Acrobat is to adjust the settings in the CREATE PDF FROM WEB PAGE box.  It seems that Acrobat uses its HTML Conversion Engine to convert text files to PDF.  When I do this and then bulk convert them using Bulk Convert Files to PDF, the orientation is correct, that is, landscape instead of the default portrait setting, however the character spacing is imprecise and the columns of data are wavy.

  • Converting Java Vector to JavaScript Array

    Hi ,
    If any body know , plz let me Know ...
    I want to Convert Java Vector of Vectors to Java Script Array of Arrays ..Thanks in Advace ..
    SUBBA.

    Hi,
    I did something like this.I used hidden variables to pass all the info the client side and I called "onload" on the body tag.In this onload function call , i split that hidden variable into array of arrays.
    This needs to be done using proper delimiters.
    So the hidden variable wuold be of the form:
    V1E1#V1E2#V1E3#V1E4$$V2E1#V2E2#V2E3#$$
    V1E1 means Vector 1 Element 1.
    You need to form this properly on server and pass it to the client where it would be split onLoad and stores appropriately into arrays.
    thx.

  • Bulk convert xls to .numbers ?  Or getaround?

    Hi there
    We own a beauty salon and our windows laptop is dying.  We have bought an iPad which will hopefully replace salon laptop.
    Only needing to use the web for browsing here and there and managing spreadsheets I have been told that iCloud and Numbers would manage our client database.  I have with a bit off a faff successfully transferred around 1200 .xls files to iCloud.
    When I open the .xls on the iPad it asks:
    Open in Numbers
    This spreadsheet may look different
    on your IOS device.  To preserve the
    original, tap Open Copy.
    Open | Open Copy
    If I "open" numbers crashes, and if I "open a copy" the file duplicates to a .numbers file.
    To clean up my client list do I have to open each one, then delete the .xls file?  And then delete the "copy" text in the file name (I know this part isn't compulsory).  Or is there a .xls to .numbers converter that will do this in bulk before I upload to iCloud?  I have searched the net and tried to do this in Numbers and Xcel with no joy.
    This really needs to be done in one hit for a smooth transfer as the client info is changing on a day to day basis.  Also duplicate files spell possible disaster for us as the wrong file could easily be deleted by a staff member (or worse both) if this is done on an as and when basis.
    Please tell me I'm being a total fool here and there's an easy way around this, thanks in advance and please help us out!
    Best wishes
    James

    You probably could do the bulk convert on a Mac running numbers.  You may have to write a script to automate.
    You could try another spreadsheet app and see if it could work with .xls without conversion.  You may consider another backup site like dropbox.com so that you have two/three copies of your files.
    All of the "Office" document editing applications on the iPad have limitations.  Best try them out to see if they meet your needs.

  • Converting a Vector to array

    Hi,
    How can I convert a Vector to an array of int ?
    I tried this
    //v is an object of class Vector
    int [] res=(int [])v.toArray(new int[0]);but it doesn't work so I find another way:
    //v is a Vector
    int len=v.size();
    int[] res=new int[len];
    for (int count=0;count<len;count++)
    res[count]=Integer.valueOf(v.elementAt(count).toString());      this works but it's inefficient , I want to do the conversion in a single line of code (if possible)
    thanks

    The code that I've posted belongs to a simple function whose aim is to fill an array with
    all the prime numbers the are less than a given value.
    The function must return an array of int (int[]).Since I don't know how many primes I will find, I need a growable array, so I decided to use Vector.If there is a better way, please tell me.
    Here is the function prototype:
    /**returns all prime numbers that are less than max_value*/
    public int[] getPrimeNumbers(int max_value){
    //function's body
    }thank you in advance

  • Converting a vector to an array

    hello :-)
    i am converting my vector into an array with this syntax:
    String[] lmname = (String[])name.toArray();
    and try to print my array with
    for(int i=0; i<lmname.size; i++)
    System.out.println(lmname);
    unfortunately, i get this error:
    java.lang.ClassCastException
    what did i do wrong?

    -- you cannot do that...
    - if you still want to convert Vector into String[] then you can do this:
                 Vector v=new Vector();
               v.add("1");
               v.add("2");
               v.add("3");
               v.add("4");
               String strVector[]=new String[v.size()];
               for (int i = 0; i<v.size(); i++)
                       strVector=new String((String)v.get(i));
         for (int i = 0; i<strVector.length; i++)
         System.out.println (strVector[i]);
    ... By the way, you can use List instead of Vector,,,

  • Transparent PSD image in Illustrator changes color of vector background after print.

    Hello, I really don't know how to explain this so I'll just upload my files which are located here: http://rapidshare.com/files/4040672260/Green%20circle.rar
    I have a green vector background in illustrator and then I placed psd image over it and created PDF for press and under Color bitmap images I selected no compression.
    After viewing image in Acrobat all seems ok, I even checked with picker, but after I send this to printer (xerox in thsi case) I end up with this: .
    Both .psd and .ai are in CMYK color space. For this particular case I could use mask to cover up that transparent space but my original project has shadows which I cannot mask by vector :S.
    Can someone plz explain to me what I am doing whrong or how to set color profiles or whatever is neccessary to avoid this issue. One thing I was using was, opening PDF in Photoshop and flatening all. Problem is that sometimes I need vector files and cut lines for cutter. Don't want to have bitmap, if I can have a vector? Also when I flaten image I do get same CMYK values in photoshop (with picker) than I have in Illustrator on vector object, but when I print this they don't match at all.
    Does someone know a solution?
    THANKS in advance and sry for my bad english.
    Stefan

    Nothing worng with your .ai or .psd file, prints fine here. Problem is with your tranparency flattening.
    Most likely you can fix that by print >>  Advanced >> Custom >.> Move slider all the way towards rasters.
    If you need more help, let us knwo your printere, and screenshtos of your print settings can help.

  • Odd frames when printing transparency PSD on black background on Illustrator CS4

    I don't know why but any PSD file that have transparency in it and placed on an illustrator document, printed with those frames around it (see example JPEG file that  I added). I tried to print directly to the printer and got those frames. I tried to create a postscript before and then PDF throe the distiller and still, the PDF print those frames. You can see the PDF that I added and examine it. You will see under the "output preview" that the parameters of the black background is the same around.
    What is that?!

    I can't use RGB profile if I want to be precise with my works.
    I found the problem and how to fix it.
    I think it is a problem with the RIP of the printer. The printer receive vector, raster and transparency object together and needs to flatten to a single image - it doesn't succeed.
    So, if I send to the printer from Illustrator, under "Advanced" I use customize pref. by tuning it to all raster and not vector at all the print printed good.
    It's so primitive and stupid that with a new printer I still need to do the RIP with the application.
