Bulk Corrections to Apple Maps?

Hi,
I represent a municipal government in Canada, and we have digital geographical data, aerial imagery, that we have already submited to Google, Bing, Navteq/Nokia. They all allowed us to submit the data for our region en-mass. Our data seems to be more up to date than what appears on Apple Maps. Does anyone know if Apple, or TomTom, or whoever supplies Apple with map data allows this, and how to go about it?
Thanks
Matt

You're asking a forum of users here.  It sounds like maybe you should provide feedback directly to Apple.

  • The location of my hometown (Hysham, Montana) is off by over 50 miles ever since Apple Maps came out.  I have been reporting off and on ever since but it has never corrected.  What do I need to do to get this fixed?!

The location of Hysham in Apple Maps is off by over 50 miles and has been ever since the advent of the app.  I have gone through the motions many times to place the pin the correct location.  Unfortunately, no one at Apple seems to care if Hysham, Montana is plotted in the correct location or not.  The location displayed in Apple Maps is quite literally in the middle of nowhere.  If someone were to rely on Apple Maps to get to Hysham may very well end up marooned in the midst of muddy two track road in the summer or stuck in a snowdrift in the winter with little or no hope of expedient assistance.  Other than the reporting feature in Maps, there appears to be no other means to report mistakes and there appears to be no expedient means at Apple to filter through reports and fix the errors.  In sum, What do I have to do to get the location of Hysham fixed in Apple Maps?  Much thanks!

You have done all that you can. Apple maps depends on 3rd party map data solutions. As problems are reported, they are reported to the data providers. How and when they decide to make changes is up to them.
You can also let Apple know you are disappointed in this via feedback at www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link.

  • HT5429 Apple maps has my wrong home address how to delete and enter correctly!

With new apple maps it doted my home address incorrectly and I cannot change it or delete it, help

Report the problem as Malcolm has said - but don't expect it to be corrected any time soon
i reported my address as incorrect several times since September - it's still wrong
download the new google maps app and try that - you will need to copy the address from contacts and paste to the search field (for now at least) but that not a big deal to locate your intended destination

  • HT202570 My buisness address does not show up on apple maps as a correct address.  The address is 1351 summit drive jasper AL 35501 and we have been here for 8 years.

I have been at my buisness for 8 years and the address does not show up as an address in apple maps on any of my devices.  How can I fix this? My address is 1351 summit drive jasper al 35501.

@Kilgore-Trout, there is no "contact us" at the bottom of the Apple Map. All I get is report the problem...move the pin, which I have done numerous times. Google maps gets it right & due to that fact, we have to tell vendors to NEVER use Apple Maps when getting directions for deliveries. I love apple, own all their products and now my BMW i3 is using their maps & I would love to have them be responsive.

  • Apple maps has received a poor performance rating just after introduction of the iPhone 5. I am running google maps app on the phone. Siri cannot seem to get me to a specific address. Where does the problem lie? Thanks.

Apple maps has received a poor performance rating just after introduction of the iPhone 5. I am running Google Maps app on the phone. SIRI cannot seem to get me to a specific address. Where does the problem lie? Also can anyone tell me the hierarchy of use between the Apple Maps, SIRI, and Google maps when the app is on the phone? How do you choose one over the other as the default map usage? Or better still how do you suppress SIRI from using the Apple maps app when requesting a "go to"?
I have placed an address location into the CONTACTS list and when I ask SIRI to "take me there" it found a TOTALLY different location in the metro area with the same street name. I have included the address, the quadrant, (NE) and the ZIP code into the CONTACTS list. As it turns out, no amount of canceling the trip or relocating the address in the CONTACTS list line would prevent SIRI from taking me to this bogus location. FINALLY I typed in Northeast for NE in the CONTACTS list (NE being the accepted method of defining the USPS location quadrant) , canceled the current map route and it finally found the correct address. This problem would normally not demand such a response from me to have it fixed but the address is one of a hospital in the center of town and this hospital HAS a branch location in a similar part of town (NOT the original address SIRI was trying to take me to). This screw up could be dangerous if not catastrophic to someone who was looking for a hospital location fast and did not know of these two similar locations. After all the whole POINT of directions is not just whimsical pasttime or convenience. In a pinch people need to rely on this function. OR, are my expectations set too high?
How does the iPhone select between one app or the other (Apple Maps or Gppgle Maps) as it relates to SIRI finding and showing a map route?
Why does SIRI return an address that is NOT the correct address nor is the returned location in the requested ZIP code?
Is there a known bug in the CONTACTS list that demands the USPS quadrant ID be spelled out, as opposed to abreviated, to permit SIRI to do its routing?
Thanks for any clarification on these matters.

siri will only use apple maps, this cannot be changed. you could try google voice in the google app.

  • How can I update a location in the Apple Maps app?

The location across the road from my office building shows that a high school is there, but that is not the case.  The high school has not been located across the road in over 20 years.  I found this error when I was updating the location information in Google Places and thought to check the location accuracy in the Apple Maps app.  How can I submit for a correction to the location info?

Apple has always included a way to "report a problem" in iOS 6 Maps, but because it does so in the context of Yelp local search information, it's not readily obvious that this button is for reporting map errors rather than just filing a grievance against a business or Yelp's data (below).
    Might try here...

  • Apple Maps and Yelp app integration....errors beyond belief

Has anyone else ever experienced when you launch driving directions to a business from within the Yelp app, that even though Yelp has the address correctly, and will show it correctly on the map.....that Apple Maps gives completely innacurate directions, and in many cases will drive me going AWAY from the business.  The other day I had this happen again, and it had been awhile since I had used Apple Maps.  I figured I've heard that they are constantly improving so I decided to give it a try again.  I launched directions to a business from the Yelp app, and after driving for quite awhile I started to get suspicious.  Something wasn't right.  So I fired up Google Maps App, and sure enough, Apple was taking me in the opposite direction from the business!  It had put me on the correct road, but had me driving away from where I needed to be.

I am having the same problem. Patients are being led to the wrong side of the street for the following business location:
    Cornea Associates of Texas
    10740 N Central Expy #350
    Dallas, TX 7523
    Correct Location Markers (northbound/right side)
    Google Maps: https://plus.google.com/111531864240926008033/about
    Bing Maps: http://www.bing.com/local/details.aspx?lid=YN826x243064299
    Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/cornea-associates-of-texas-dallas-2
Incorrect Apple Location Marker (southbound/left side)
Can someone help me fix/report the marker location? I do not have access to any devices that have the iOS6 software.
    Thanks!

  • Best way to input Apple Maps destination by voice?

I just got Siri Eyes Free integration added to my car, so I am switching from Waze and Google Maps to Apple Maps so I can enter desitinations by voice by simply hitting  button in the steeting wheel.  However, so far I am very disappointed with Apple Maps.
Using the Apple Maps to enter an address by voice has been very frustrating and unreliable.
I have had Apple Maps send me to the wrong desitnation twice in the last week. I think I have figured out "why," but the "reason" is still not really an excuse that justifies the problem.
I asked Siri for "Directions to Walmart in (city name)."  Siri responds with something like "I found a Walmart near (city name) on Green Street.  Is that the one you want?"  The Walmart was indeeed on that street, so I said. "Yes."
Siri then said something roughly equivalent to "Routing to 123 Main Street."
That makes no sense, It just said it found Walmart on Green Street.  It proceded to give directions to a desitination on the other side of town on "Main Street.".
Today I asked for directions to a Comcast office and had the same expirience of it routing to a different address then the location of the business I asked for..
I figured out that both times Apple Maps was routing me to the town center  of each town instead of the specific place I originally asked for.
To "work around" this issue I found that I could rephrase the request in a more convulted way and it would get me to the correct directions.
I tried asking Siri to "Find Walmart in (city name)" and then Siri found it asked if I want to call it or get directions.  I said "Get directions" and then Apple Maps actually routed to the correct destination instead of the city center.
This needs to be fixed. It is clearly a bug.  The first time it happened I didn't notice it had said a different street name in the second response than it said when it asked "is that the one you want?" so I ended up driving several miles out of the way.  The workaround I found to bypass the issue is alot of unecessary work especially if you have to pick from a list of several possible locatons.
Is there a more relaible and short way to make Apple Maps give correct directions to a place of business when it is entered via voice command?
The second problem I had was when I submitted a residentual street address by voice.  This is is even more frustrating because it keeps trying to route to addresses in cities hundreds of miles a way.
I will ask for directions to a street address in a neighboring town and Apple Maps will say it is going to route to an address with similar street name in a city that is no where near where I am instead of the street that is in the neighboring city.  Sometimes it will get it after repeating the command a second or a third or a fouth time.
Sometimes it will work if I say the zip code instead of the city name and sometimes that doesn't work and it will say it can't find that street name in the city that belongs to that zip code, but the exact same command will work once I am within the city limits of that city.  This also needs to improve.
Is there a specific way or format of entering street addresses and limiting it to the closest cities that contain streets with that name (or similar sounding street names) so that it does't try to route to a similar street name far away when there is also the same street name 5 or 10 miles from my current location?

It would be nice if I could find something that
    would
allow me create utf-8 Vietnamese characters directly
    from my keyboard
Go to system preferences/international/input menu. Check the box for Vietnamese, plus the box for "show input menu in Finder." Plus the box for Keyboard Viewer. Then select the Vietnamese item in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder. Open TextEdit or other Unicode app (not AppleWorks or WordX) and type.
Please let me know if some part of this does not work for you.
PS To see which key does what, select Keyboard Viewer in the "flag" menu.
PSS In case you are talking about inputting Vietnamese into web forums, you will need to use FireFox instead of Safari. Some such forums are (stupidly) run in Latin-1 instead of UTF-8, which means all input has to be in the form of html escape codes (numerical character references). FireFox does this but Safari does not.

  • My apple Maps is wrong

My ipad2 and 3 are locating me 300 km far from my actual location ( i am in the center of France and it is locating me on the french riviera!!!!!!)
How can i calibrate the apple maps in order to be accurately located?
Among the consequences of this bugg, I cannot use find my device properly
    Thank you for the help

If you have the WiFi-only iPad your location is determined by the location of nearby WiFi routers. The WiFi-only iPad does not have GPS. Without GPS location-finding is done by using a Apple location database which contains the MAC addresses of routers and their physical location. A MAC address is a unique number which is built-in to all network devices when manufactured. Note that you do not need to be connected to a router to see its MAC address. The IP address of a router is not used for location purpose.
The Apple database is built and updated by Apple GPS-enabled devices (primarily iPhones) actually seeing your router and then adding/updating the router's location in the database.
Bottom line: Your Router is not correctly located in the Apple location database. It's current location hasn't been seen yet and updated in the database. Without this your iPad cannot be correctly located. Unfortunately, there is no way for users to request information to be added to Apple's database.

  • Apple Maps - My business location is wrong, and I don't have any iDevices to fix it

    Apple Team,
I need to fix my location marker because my customers are constantly getting sent to the wrong location and having to call me for turn by turn directions when using their iPhones to find my farm. As a local farmer in Virginia, I cannot afford to have people getting lost due to an incorrect location marker. Droid users do not have any trouble making their way to my farm, however, the iPhone users always get directions to the wrong location.
I need some help in correcting this problem and hope that I can find the solution here.
    My business:
    Sneads Farm
    18294 Tidewater Trail
    Fredericksburg, VA 22408
Google, Yahoo, and Bing all have the correct address and marker location.
    Google:
    http://goo.gl/maps/Ielin
The iPhone provides the correct address, but the wrong location marker.
Could one of you wonderful Apple Team Members please correct the marker in your maps app? I will gladly speak with someone from Apple Maps if it is necessary.
Longitude and Latitude of my farm: 38.232452, -77.324883
    Thank you so very much.

Done. Don't know how long it will take, they will email me when it has been fixed.

  • Apple Maps App problem - maps problem - why do they go blank

On OS X Yosemite version 10.10.3
I have a blank map, and this problem occurred on the last version of OS as well.
After I restarted my computer, the app started working but went blank again.
When the map is blank, I can't report the problem. It says no internet but my other apps that require an internet connection are still working. I've attached a picture of what pops up below. Please let me know what needs to be done to fix this issue.

Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Date & Time ▹ Time Zone
    Check the box marked
Set time zone automatically using current location
if it's not already checked. If the box is checked, uncheck it and then check it again. Test.
If the correct location and time zone aren't shown in the preference pane, then either Wi-Fi is turned off, or you're not within range of a network in the Location Services database. Under those conditions, the computer can't determine your location.
Credit for this idea to ASC member Easyas314.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Maps
Right-click or control-click the line and select
             Services ▹ Reveal in Finder
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.Maps" selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the folder to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the item you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the folder you moved. The list of recent places displayed in Maps will be lost.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Apple maps has incorrect information and we can't seem to get it fixed

Our address is 3201 e George bush hwy, Richardson tx 75082
Searching for 3201 e George bush hwy results in maps deleting the 3201 and pinning a random IHOP
Searching for 3201 e George bush hwy richardson results in no results found
Searching for 3201 e George bush hwy richardson tx results two results on opposite sides of the highway
Despite several attempts over the last several months to report problem, dragging pins etc, nothing has changed
Patients constantly get lost and are late for appointments
Is there anything left to do?  We are at our wits end.

If it makes you feel any better, try getting someone like Garmin to fix a map error on their devices. The other side of the coin for something like Garmin is that they charge for map updates, and because of that, many people just don't update the maps. So, even if the data gets corrected, many users won't see it.
While there should be a better way to report/update, I'm not sure if/when we might see it. Since the map data is on the server side, and not resident on the phone, it should not be something that would require an update to the iOS. I guess other than reporting and providing feedback, the best we can do is wait.
On another note, for the map data for my town and location, the Apple map is superior to the Google one. The satellite data is newer and the Apple map has more of the newer streets than Google. I know that is probably a surprise, but if you come around here, your better to have the Apple maps.

  • HT5429 What can I do about the fact that IOS maps no longer shows my home street correctly on the map?

It showed correctly under Google maps but whole sections of the street are missing under IOS 6.
I have tried reporting the problem via the recommended method and received no response. I know that this is also a problem in Tom Tom because I discovered after paying a significant amount for their iPhone app only to find my address missing on their maps. I tried reporting it to them months ago and they made no change in their app or maps. I do not live in a remote area but a within the city limits of metropolitan area and the house has been here since 1929, giving Apple and Tom Tom ample time to get it right!
I am very disappointed that neither Apple or Tom Tom have not even responded to my request despite my investment in their products.

I personally am waiting for Google to release a new map app for IOS. Unfortunately it won't be nicely integrated into other apps unless other developers realize, like they have with DropBox or Box, that there are sometimes better alternatives to meeting individual needs than what Apple chooses to foist on us
If the maps issue is so important and debilitating to you then get rid of your Apple devices and buy Android. You claim that Apple "foists" things on its users. Leave the platform. Problem solved. Is it really that hard to understand? Why stay with a company or product you despise or are unhappy with? What is it with people ike you anyway?
What exactly do you mean by "people ike[sic] me?" You presume to know me from a few words I have written here?! I am not enough of a true believer to suit you?! I dare to question decisions that others have made that affect me?!
Well I will share one thing about me. I am a long time Apple user and supporter (Mac Plus) but I am also a firm believer in the maxim, "If it aint broke, don't fix it!" It seems to me the only thing Apple sought to fix in their switch to Tom Tom's mapping data was their link to a growing competitor, Google. The many complaints from those with a signifcant investment in affected Apple products like me (2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 iPods) are well founded and deserving of a voice. There have been many problems with the new map data reported and not a lot of bravos. I have read on a similar thread to this one the Apple has said it may be 2-3 years to get the maps up to speed.
I don't know about you, but the Google maps data was working fine for me including all the other apps it integrated with. So why should I have to go out and spend my hard earned money on another platform? Why should I not expect that Apple will be responsive to its users if we raise our voices in protest of an uneeded change that has produced bad results.
Maybe my choice of the word "foist" (to introduce or insert surreptitiously or without warrant) was a little strong but who here feels they were consulted by Apple before they made this major switch that affects so much of the functionality of their portable devices?

  • HT1688 the Apple Maps app won't locate an address, the address is a medical center in gainesville, fl 4037 NW 86th Terrace 32606. i had to google map it in order to find the location... please update addresses on your Maps app... how often are the Maps up

How often does Apple Maps update address locations?? there is an address in Gainesville, Fl it is a health facility as it was priority to locate, the address is 4037 NW 86th Terr, 32606. I had to use my google maps app... it then took me to the correct address and located it no problem. please update at least this address so people in need of health care don't go through the same thing I had to endure...

The satellite imagery on Apple Maps shows that whole area as undeveloped woods.   Google shows a brand new building with the nearby streets.
Use the "Report a Problem" button on the Maps to inform Apple of the required update.
