Bulk Edit ID3 Lyrics Tags

I'm in the process of adding lyrics to my music files (>26,000). Quite a few of my music files are instrumental only, and do not have any lyrics. I'd like to indicate the lyrics as "Instrumental," but don't want to have to press Option+I and manually insert this for each and every file.
Is there a way to "bulk edit" the lyrics ID3 tag and insert this text for multiple files (an Apple Script, perhaps?), or a program that would let me do this?

Since iTunes has basically cornered the market on music players and the such for Macs there aren't many alternatives being worked on, especially free ones. There's free Mac tag editors at http://www.mp3machine.com/mac/ID3-TAG/freeware/ but as you can see most of them are at least 5 years old.

However, there are many free apps available for mp3 editing- one that I use is Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/).
Just open MP3 in Audacity(v1.2.6), go to Project > Edit ID3 tags.

How do i edit id3 tags for all mp3s in a folder?

If I have a folder of mp3s, how do I set all of their id3 album tags to the same album? For instance, in Windows you can just select all of the files and then right click and go to Properties where any tags you edit get applied to each of the files. I'd prefer to do it all in Finder, but if there's some way through iTunes, or another app, I'd be glad to hear about it.

That's the problem though, the tracks aren't in the same album according to their current id3 tags.

Editing ID3 tags in itunes has no effect on iPhone's music library?

I manually manage my music (as opposed to synching), and I've noticed when I plug the iphone in, select the music library on the device, and make changed to the mp3s tags, the change does not register with the device. Although the changes show up in iTunes on my computer, when I browse the library through the iphone itself, the metadata appears unchanged. For example, if I change "Twilight Singers, The" to "The Twilight Singers" in itunes, when I browse my iPhone later it will still say "Twilight Singers, The."
Anyone else experience this or know how to fix it?

If your MP3 files contain ID3 information the Music app will read this information, aka metadata instead of using the file names since it contains more detail. For example, this is what allows your device to identify songs, artists, albums etc.
To edit ID3 details you have several options, you can do it on your device, or using your computer.
To edit on device, search BlackBerry World for 'ID3' and several apps will appear.
Since i use Windows at home, my preferred ID3 editing software is Mp3tag.
For Mac, you may want to search the App Store and see what ID3 software is offered.
After updating the ID3 details, copy the music back to your device (or close and re-open the Music app if you edited the details on your device using ID3 software from BlackBerry World) and let me know if things are good

Effective ways of editing ID3 ta

Hi,
I bought a Zen Micro some months ago, and I store many Mp3 files on it. However, I find it very tedious to edit the ID3 tags with Mediasource; otherwise than when copying a CD, you can't edit more than one tag at once, and this is a shortcoming as you might like to sort many different songs under a common genre, artist, album, etc without editing them one by one. Does anyone have any suggestions about a music program that allows more ingenious ID3 editing or have any other ideas?

easy. if u have a zen micro, download the playsforsure firmware from the downloads section. when uve got it sorted and worked out how to use it (see a number of other posts on how to use micro with wmp0) u can edit id3 tag in windows media player.
v easy- just select the ones u want to edit, right click and click id3 tag editior (or something like that)
the rest is easy. for e.g. u can change the id3 tag for all the songs selected, u can change the album and all albums tags will be changed.
u need xp and wmp0 though

[Solved] Simple way to edit id3v2 comment tag in python?

I'm working on a project right now that is going to read the id3v2 comment tag from an MP3 file, parse some things from it, and then append some text to the end.
Right now I'm using id3v2 from extra to do this:
comm = commands.getoutput( "id3info '%s' | grep '(Comments): ()'" % fileName )
Then I use this to put it back:
os.system( "id3tag -c \"%s\" '%s'" % (commNew, fileName) )
I really don't want to rely on this package to insert this comment. I've been looking at eyeD3 and mutagen for a better way to do this, but I'm having trouble figuring it out.
I know there has to be a more elegant solution out there. Any ideas?

Thanks Zariel, I had looked at mutagen before, but had never been able to edit the COMM tag properly. After toying with it and dissecting mid3v2. I was able to come up with the following:
import mutagen.id3
filename = 'File.mp3'
id3 = mutagen.id3.ID3(filename)
frame = mutagen.id3.COMM(encoding=3, lang='XXX', desc=u'', text=[u'Great comment!'])
id3.add(frame)
id3.save()

ID3 / ID4 Tags in Soundbooth CS4?

Given his statement, I was expecting to find support of MP3 and MP4 tags in Soundbooth CS4. Unfortuntaly, it doesn't seem like it's there. If I edit an MP3 or MP4 file that has tags, all of the text data and album art is lost. I find it kind of amazing that Adobe wouldn't have indluded metadata support when editing files in Soundbooth CS4. Am I missing something or is it really not there?
BTW, I realize that Bridge includes a very minimal amount of meta data support (but no album art) and even then the few ID3/ID4 tags that Bridge does support are not retained if the file is edited in Soundbooth.

Editing Multiple .AVI Tags

Please excuse my noob behavior, as this is my first post! I would like to know if it is possible to edit multiple .AVI tags simultaneously. There are several programs out there that do this for Windows. Thus far I have been unable to locate equitable software for Mac OSX. Am I missing something here, is this easier than I think? Thanks for your guidance!

ID3 tags are contained in a file, so to change them, you will have to reupload.
The iTunes U web services API does let you change a lot about the way things are displayed within the iTunes Store ... but using them may not seem simple unless you have a web services/XML guru handy. If you are such a guru, then you want to check out Chapter 6 of the iTunes U admin guide.

Editing ID3 on E51

Just wondering if you ever found a way to edit ID3 tag on the E51? I am still looking for a free app - tried GetJar but no luck.

'$P_CRM' is undefined Error while opening Lookup field in Bulk edit form in CRM 2013

Hi All,
I am getting this strange error in MS CRM 2013
When I do bulk edit for any entity , I select 2-3 records and click on Edit , the Bulk edit form opens
then whenever I clicks on any field which is lookup type It does not open , after debugging with F12 developer tool
I am getting this error. "'$P_CRM' is undefined"
I have MS CRM 2013 on premise , Service Pack 1 Update Rollup 1 installed and using IE 11.

Few questions that might help us to identify issue:
1. Have you enabled Social Insight ? If yes can you try bulk edit on entity which don't have social insight enabled and confirm if it repro there?

Bulk edit media kind not working

Hello,
Last night I bulk edited my library from media kind "music" to "voice memo." This worked fine. Everything is now set to voice memo. However, I am now trying to edit selected albums back to music, and this does NOT work. But it DOES work if I select each song individually and change it.
This is incredibly frustrating.
Anyone know why this is? Or better yet, does anyone have a fix or a script that will allow me to select a batch of files and change the media kind from voice memo to music?

I discovered from a tweet by @dougscripts, that it is simply not possible to do en masse or with a script: "@dougscripts To all asking: AppleScript cannot change the "Media Kind" property of a podcast track to a music track."
(I had changed mine for the same reason regarding iTunes Match, and also unsuccessfully tried the same 2-step process.)
But, I did figure out a workaround that will save your sanity.
1. Add all the tracks you want to change into a single playlist.
2. Then use a mouse recorder (I used this one http://www.jitbit.com/mac-mouse-recorder/ ... the demo lasts long enough for you to change what you need to).
3. Record the action of changing 1 track from voice memo to music manually.
4. Set the mouse recorder to repeat the amount of times as there are songs in your playlist.
(You won't be able to use your computer while it's working, so if you have a huge library it's best to do it while you're sleeping. Also, don't speed up the playback of the action too much, as it will fail.)

So, does the new iPod display lyrics tags???

Does it or not? Anyone know? Definitive answer?
Been waiting for an mp3 player with large drive that displays lyrics tags...why's it so difficult to find out if this ipod has that feature? If the feature is already available in the nano, how hard could it be to put it in the ipod?
Unless someone says differently, I will assume it does not; if it did, Apple would surely advertise the heck out of it. This is a major feature for some of us!

What is needed is an iTunes script which will mass-lookup, and mass-import the Lyrics for all hilited tracks in the iTunes window, etc etc. No way to I want to do 3,000 songs, one at a time!
Does Doug have a script for this?
BTW- Is there a script/utility to do the same for album art? En-mass lookup and install album art?

Timeout issue in Bulk Edit Tool

Hi,
I request help to resolve an issue in Bulk Edit Tool (Solution Starter). I have deployed Bulk Edit Tool in Ms Project Server 2010 environment. However, I am facing following issue in Bulk Edit:
After entering filter criteria in the first page of Bulk Edit wizard, the wizard just displays Loading Content. However, no projects are filtered and displayed.
I couldn't find any messages in ULS logs and App Server logs to troubleshoot this issue. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Frankly I have never been able to get the bulk edit tool to work.
I know few other people had success using it but for me t always hanged up and froze when I tried to use it. Since this is not officially supported any more, I can only suggest that you try a different
solution or start looking into the source code itself.

Getting the "401 : Unauthorized" exception with bulk edit tool in Project Server 2010

Hi all,
We are using the Bulkedit tool in our Project server 2010 environment.
When users click the button "bulk edit projects" from the ribbon, it is giving the error with a correlation id.
I checked the id in uls logs and find that it is giving the below message.
Does anyone know why we are getting this error ?

The loopbackcheck was already disabled. The users who are accessing the url from the client machines also getting this error.

Bulk Edit in iTunes

When I go to edit a batch of files in iTunes (say all of my Podcasts or music to make them all the same volume), I get this message "Your selection contains more than one kind of media. All items must be the same kind in order to view or edit them together." All of omy music is the same kind (MPEG) and shows as such when I view Kind in the sort-by. I want to edit my entire library but since 11.1, I can't because apparently my files are not the same kind even when they show as being such. What is happening here?
And while I'm at it, I miss being able to delete Podcasts and not just see them in the subscription list hovering in the cloud. I want them gone so as not to clutter everything.

Hmm. This is really weird - the greyed-out issue describes and perhaps explains one mismatch, but I've got another pair that makes no sense at all:
Both files are "Media Kind: Music", both with black, and easily changeable.
Both in iTunes Media/Music folder.
Both AAC audio files.
Both with file suffixes m4a (and yes, that capitalization).
Yet I'm unable to bulk edit the two of them. Even if I change both of them, separately, to Audiobooks, they still can't be editted together. The only difference I can see in the Summary file is "Encoded with" (iTunes v6.0.1 versus v6.0.2).
As a side issue: when you Get Info for one track in iTunes, are you able to use the Previous or Next buttons? My system hangs when I try do that, and eventually I have to Force Quit iTunes.
