Bulk Import Projects along with Project Plan

Hi,
I am working on a requirement to bulk import Projects into Ms Project Server along with associated Project Plans. I have checked Solution Starter Bulk Create source code. However,  the source code doesn't check-in project plans associated with
projects.
It just creates Projects. I am looking for approach and alternatives to implement this requirement. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Hi,
From experience you will be able to create Bulk project up to Project details only , for schedule level consider using PSI to Add tasks under the projects.

  • Cant import project plan to project server

    Hi
Getting below error when i try to upload the project plan from my desktop to project server in 2010
I had a glimpse on related Project server forums and project server error codes it says
    LookupTableItemInvalidLookupTable = 11073
An item in the lookup table is not valid.
Can you please help me to resolve the issue
    Regards
    Santosh

Their is not tool which can perform this for you.
You have to do it manually, you can do shorting for all the custom field then match the values of look up table if you have any document for custom field and look up configuration.

  • Import songs along with playlist?

It used to be that if I wanted to send a playlist of songs, in a specific order, to someone else, I could just export an .m3u file and place it in the same folder along with the song files.  The recipient could simply open the folder, drag everything into iTunes or double click on the .m3u file, and iTunes would import the playlists and the associated songs along with it, in the correct order.
Ever since upgrading to iTunes 11, this no longer seems to be the case.  I export a playlist as usual in .m3u, put it and the associated songs in the same folder and send away.  When the recipient trys to import the playlist, the playlist and the songs all import, but the playlist is always empty.
I've tried various methods of importing - double clicking on the playlist file, dragging it and the songs into iTunes, dragging the whole folder into iTunes, importing the playlist via File -> Library, or Adding to Library.  All the same result - an emplty playlist with the correct name shows up, and the songs show up in the library, but not attached to the playlist.
I've also tried all export formats (.m3u, .msu8, .xml, etc), and I've even tried changing library organization settings on both ends.
I'm sure it's something dumb on my part, but whatever it is, I haven't been able to find it.
All computers in the mix are running Mountain Lion.  iTunes versions vary between 10 and 11, mostly 11 (I need it to work in 11).

The M3U approach is nice, but hardly anyone uses it, and in iTunes 11 it does not even work. The way it is almost always done is to put the files in a folder and prepend 01, 02, etc.;  see monthly CMJ mixtape for an example.

  • How to reconcile 2 lightroom catalogs in separate locations along with images and metadata?

I split my time between two locations where I need access to all of my images and lightroom catalog...  I've been trying to keep everything in sync by transporting new images on hard drives, exporting new updates to a "migration" catalog and then importing that along with the images when I travel back to the other location.  This works as long a I don't get lazy, or in a hurry...  which I have, of course and now I need to get everything back in order--as best as can be expected.
What would be the best way to do this?  I need to migrate changes in both directions...  If it was just location A to B, or B to A, then that's not much of a problem.  unfortunately, i need to reconcile changes from A to B and B to A...
I learned my lesson, but I still need to resolve this mess.
    Any tips appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Exporting P6 Project along with Baselines

I tried to export one project in the .xer format. This project also has a few baselines. But after importing the exported file, to a stand alone P6, I found that the baselines were not imported. Now I am left out with only one option to restore the baselines to projects one by one and then export it and then import it and set as a baseline. Is there any way to export the project along with the baselines at a single go.

It was supposed to be included with P6 originally, then P7 and has still not happened yet.

  • Can you share project plans with customers

if I want to give a customer a MSP file with a plan in it; but I want them only to see the columns I want: no rates; no enterprise project fields (namely profit/GM) - how do I save
Trying to stop the swap to Salesforce - but the errors keep a coming

    Hi Andrew,
Indeed a report might be the easiest solution.
Another solution I've been using in case your confidentiality needs are related to rates is to save baseline n than reset to 0$ all resources rates. Ask for your customer to refer to baseline n costs.
In case it is related to custom fields, if you send the MPP project file, your customer will be able to view ANY DATA (rates, costs, custom fields) in the file.
Finally a workaround (that requires a little bit more configuration and administration) if you're using Project Server would be to create a "customer" security group and category and to restrict their access to some views (project center and project
details) with restricted columns. Note that in this case it requires Project Server CAL.
    Hope this helps.

  • Integrating project planning software with business planning systems (ERP)

    Hello there
I have been trying to obtain information about "integrating project planning systems with business planning systems (ERP, PLM)" but I could not find any proper source. Would you help me out on this?
I would like to focus on what benefits can be expected from a close integration of project planning
tools and enterprise information systems such as ERP and what evidence is there that
this is being exploited. If you can help me out with proper sources, I would be appreciated.

    Hi,
As per my understanding i think you would like to know the benefits of integrating your legacy Project Planning system with the ERP system. Please correct me if am wrong. If that is what you require, please search the forum as i am very sure that there are threads that explain the benefits of integration.

  • Why are iMovie events (2400 of them) shown in the iDVD movies pane along with my iMovie projects (12 of them)?

Why are iMovie events (2400 of them) shown in the iDVD movies pane along with my iMovie projects (12 of them)?

Sorry about the delay in responding, I've been putting up with a very slow iDVD, but now I'm fed up with it again. My version of iDVD is 7.1.2 (1158) running in Mac OS X, version 10.6.8, with 3.2GHz and i3 processor, 4GB of memory, on a desktop iMac. My version of iMovie'11 is 9.0.4 (1634).
I can stop iDVD from showing iMovie EVENTS (now 3247 of them) in its Media pane under Movies, by moving the iMovie Events folder from the iMovie folder ( that iDVD ALWAYS looks in) to somewhere else in that Directory (where I store all my data, and which I have named "browning").  But then iMovie can't display the EVENTS, because it is looking in the wrong place. So, how can I save iMovie Events in another folder (not iMovies) but somewhere where iMovie will find them?
Is there a method to change the default folders for iMovie and/or iDVD? How does iMovie know where the iMovie default directory is?
Should I put iMovie into the "Main" Mackintosh HD directory?
The Apple Store in Bath, UK, couldn't help, but surely I'm not the only iDVD user who is annoyed with this process?
    HELP, please

  • SAP IDM 7.0/7.1 Project Plan and Architecture Landscape Diagrams

Need help in identifying whether there is anybody that has a generic project plan along with resources needed  in implementing IDM 7.0/7.1. I am also looking for a generic landscape diagram. Any help would be appreciated.

    Matt,
Interesting question and one that I think we can answer, but we need a few specifics first (even for a generic)
    1. Are you using 7 or 7.1?  This is a biggie since there are big differences in implementation.
    2. What's your source for Identity data?  What are your targets?  Even a basic of (Source is HR, targets are ERP, LDAP and badging app)
    3. What workflows are you implementing?
    4. What is your development approach? Dev / QA / Prod?  This can be important too.
For architecture info, take a look at some of the documents available from SAP.
Anyway, a very generic would be:
    1.0 Identify requirements
    1.1 Sources
    1.2 Targets
    1.3 Workflows
    2.0 Development Environment
    2.1 Install Core Components
    2.2 Install IdM
    2.3 Connector creation
    2.3.1 Source (X)
    2.3.2 Target A
    2.3.3 Target B
    2.4 Workflow creation
    2.4.1 Notification Tasks
    2.4.2 Self Service Tasks
    2.5.3 ...
    2.6 Unit Testing
    3.0 QA

  • Error in saving project plan in project server 2007

I am  getting following error when I try to make a change and saved the  project plan. It has happened several times since yesterday. Not sure if the file is corrupted.
Is it possible to make a copy of the file and mark the current file as inactive?
    The File cannot be opened.
Check that the File name and path are correct.
Check that the File format is recognized by Project.
Project Files saved in a version earlier than Microsoft Project 98
    can't be opened.
If your File is From an earlier version, open it in that version, click
Save as (File menu), and save in MPX Format Open the MPX File. When
you use this method, project data is imported, but Formatting is lost.
Has any one has same issue? any suggestions please reply.
    Thanks-

    Hi Micahel,
    Thanks for the posting!
what would be solution inorder to make it working.i was looking at some posts which i listed below for some it had worked....i did not try it but just guessing it would work
    1. Launch Project Professional 2007 and connect to Project Server.
    2.  In the new blank project (Project1), click Insert - Project.
    3.  Select the troublesome project.
    4.  DESELECT the "Link to project" checkbox and then click the Insert
    button.
    5.  When prompted to save the changes to the troublesome project, click the
    No button
Or in another case it may  be
Saving as a template with re-open is a smart work around, typically when a network connection gets dropped.  In these cases
we have copy/pasted to a new file, or, saved as XML and then reopened.
I appreciate any kind of help on it.
    Thanks

  • Export Project from custom built Project planning to MS project

    Hi All,
I am having requirement of exporting/Importing custom built project application in SAP to MS project. If any one have worked on how to export and import data between MS project and SAP system, kindly share with me.
    Regards,
    Karthick S

    Karthick,
If it is like project plan or kind of audit plan then you can use sap audit management process, where we can import and export plans between sap and MS project and through both online and offline we can update the data.
pls correct me if my understanding is wrong.
    Regards

  • How assignmnt finish date is calculated in project plan

We enable Single Entry Mode, protect acutals in our environments, and during our testing, we found that the Finish date of the task is auto re-calculated while the hours input is diffferently from the planned hours. And we have tested with different scenarios:
Fixed Work, Fixed Duration, Fixed Units etc, but we still do not understand the exact calculation logic of the new Finish date.
Does Microsoft have any document descrbing this logic?
    Thanks.
    Kevin Li

    Hi Kevin,
It is normal that the finish date is recalculated by Project. When the team member enter actual work starting later from the start date, after the task update is approved and the project published, Project pushes the actual work, updates the actual start
date then recalculate the finish date based.
This is actually why you do use a project planning software as Microsoft Project: you want the application to help you forecasting your project dates. If you do not want Project to recalculate, then you miht consider using a simpler tool like Excel.
Basically the process is that the team member gives the information that the task started later than planned, the project manager approves the start date and the actual work. Project calculates the planned finish date. But the last step is very important:
the project manager should review how did MS Project do the recalculation and update the project plan with the remaining work and eventually add or move resources on assignments to adjust the capacity and delivery dates based on priority.
    Hope this helps,

  • Is Oracle Project Management has all features which Microsoft Project Plan?

    Hello Experts,
Customer wanted to start using Oracle Project Management suit completly along with little Microsoft project plan. as of now most of the projects are using microsoft project plan for project management and Oracle Project suit is for Costing and Billing.
But in order to start this initiative, we need to explain the difference which Oracle Project Management can not able to do but Microsoft project plan can. Based on this management will take the decesion.
As per my understanding, Orace Project Management can perform all the tasks except scheduling. As it supports scheduling from third party software like Microsoft project plan / primavera etc.
Rest I think Oracle Project management suit is equally matured to perform all the project management task which Mircosoft project management can perform.
So experts , can you please confirm my understanding and provide me some light on this topic.
    Thanks :-)

    Hi,
First of all, I would like to know what are the various things you are performing with a Microsoft project plan apart from scheduling the resources to a specific project .
Through Oracle Project Management, you can control the visibility of a resource, assign it to a particular project and control the tracking of the time in various assignments. If that is what you are trying to achieve through Oracle Project Management icnluding the other features it has, you can surely go for it.
Let me know if you have any doubts on it.

    Tanvi
