Bulk Optimize Pictures for the web in Photoshop 8

I have 731 pictures that I need to bulk optimize for a website. Hopefully without doing it one by one. I have no problem processing multiple files and reducing the quality but I wan to do the save for the web option and that isn't avaiable in that process that I know of. Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks!!
Bob

I tried to do it that way but the file size ends up about twice the size than when you do the save for web individually. Not sure why, I'd sure have the smaller files if I can figure out how to do it.

  • How to create clean text for the web in Photoshop/Illustrator

    I am puzzled to death on how in the world to get clean text for the web in Photoshop/Illustrator, particularly white text. I want my text to turn out exactly like the text at this website: thepainteddoor.org
    If you scroll down to the bottom of that page, notice the titles "Featured Media", "Social Networking", and "Contact Information". They are all .gif images. I have tried to replicate what these images look like for about 3 hours now to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to do this? It just looks like a simple outline or drop shadow, but I can't get it to show up like that. If someone could help me replicate that effect with text (aka make it show up clean as an image), I would graciously give them money through PayPal*.
    * = I will only give cash if it will replicate it exactly (and I mean exactly)..and it won't be too much..I'm a poor college student. :-P
    Thanks in advance!

    You would do it the way I created it:
    Select the Text tool in Photoshop and set the font and parameters as I have listed.  Then enter whatever text you like.  It will be rendered over the top of the lower layers you may have in the document.  Save as an image of the appropriate type and you're there.
    Note that "lower layers you may have in the document" could conceivably be none at all (i.e., you render the text over a transparent document).  You could imagine saving that as a .png with transparency and get light text in an image that could then be put over the top of anything else.  The alpha mixing will see to it that the edges smoothly blend with the background.  I haven't actually tried this (I usually do try my own suggestions) because of lack of time right now.

  • Save for the web

    When I "save for the web" in Photoshop, why does Image Ready open? This adds time to my workflow.

    I had 2 computer crashes - laptop and desktop at once. I only had Phostoshop CS but due to problems with Windows 8 etc. Adobe gave me a link to CS2 so I could still use Photoshop. On the desktop, I made some kind of setting where "save for web" stays in Photoshop, but on the laptop I evidently didn't make the same choice and "save for the web" goes through Image Ready. Any thoughts on that?
    Thanks for any all replys.

    I've just bought a Macbook Pro 15" and I'm trying to use Photoshop, but the resolution its displaying the images at for 100% are too small. I have to design for the web, so need to be intricate with detail, but I'm finding it adjusts the resolution of the image right down. (I mean you can see the image clearly, but it's too small to edit). When I look at Safari and see a web page at 100% it's clear, but the same page displayed in Photoshop CC appears 50% of the size (even though it says it's 100%)   If I move the application window to another screen it adjusts it correctly  – leaving all the pallettes, menus and tools correctly sized as they are on the retina display   Is there some way to adjust the way Photoshop CC displays images so it is more consistent with what you actually see?   There doesn't seem to be any answer on the Adobe forum, so hopefully someone here can shed some light.  MacBook Pro with Retina display, 15", OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), Photoshop CC 2014

    I tested both ways. With "open in low resolution" ckecked the size of the images is cool, but it is low-resolution including Photoshop appearance.
    If "open in low resolution" is unckecked the appearance is good but the very small size.
    See the image below. It has 650 x 732 px, 72 dpi. The font of the text "Neste aniversário ..." is with 18pt.

  • Export for the Web and File Naming : Batch problem in Photoshop CC

    Is it possible to use "File Naming" when you are using in a batch "Save for the Web" export ?
    What I want to do:
    I have images that I need to resize, crop and rename (change "filename.jpg" to "filename_850x490.jpg" and make an optimisation for the web
    I want to create an action that I can use in a batch
    What is working :
    I can use my action (resize, crop, save) and use file renaming option if I use "save as" options
    I can use my action (resize, crop, save for the web ...) but the file renaming option are not use at the export,
           So I have to create two actions (one for resize, crop and rename and an other to compress images with "save for the web"

  • Why can't font graphics for the web be created with sophisticated "hinting" in Photoshop?

    It seems when a font is generated as a web graphic -- either a GIF or a high quality JPEG -- it never looks as clean as live fonts in HTML? I've been researching fonts a bit, and apparently they come with built-in "hinting" that makes them appear better on screen. But if you set the same type in Photoshop or Illustrator and export for the web, it's blurrier and never as good. Is there a way around that?

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    Does anyone recommend a good graphic utility to prepare files for the web?

    GraphicConverter as noted by Don, or Photoshop Elements are the favourites. Both will allow comprehensive editing, and save for web facilities including reducing the .jpg quality to shrink file size without making the picture smaller.
    There is a free application calld Gimp (open source) but I don't know how good it is or whether it's updated for Lion.

  • Saving JPG to PNG using Save for the Web

    Morning
    I came across Paul Riggott's script for saving PSD to PNG which I changed to JPG to PSD.
    The only problem with this is that the file size in most cases is larger than the original.
    Is there a way to do a save as for the web as well?
    Here is the  original code:
    #target photoshop
    var imageFolder = Folder.selectDialog("Select top folder to process");
    var folderList=[];
    if (imageFolder != null)  {
    processFolder(imageFolder);
    folderList.unshift(imageFolder);

       for (var z in fileList){
        var file = fileList[z];
        open(file);
        var Name = fileList[z].name.replace(/\.[^\.]+$/, '');
        var saveFile = File(decodeURI(fileList[z].path+"/"+Name+".png"));
        SavePNG(saveFile);
        app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
    function processFolder(folder) {
        var fileList = folder.getFiles()
         for (var i = 0; i < fileList.length; i++) {
            var file = fileList[i];
    if (file instanceof Folder) {
      folderList.push(file);
           processFolder(file);
    function SavePNG(saveFile){
        pngSaveOptions = new PNGSaveOptions();
        pngSaveOptions.embedColorProfile = true;
        pngSaveOptions.formatOptions = FormatOptions.STANDARDBASELINE;
        pngSaveOptions.matte = MatteType.NONE;
        pngSaveOptions.quality = 1;
    pngSaveOptions.PNG8 = false;
        pngSaveOptions.transparency = true;
    activeDocument.saveAs(saveFile, pngSaveOptions, true, Extension.LOWERCASE);
    Any help or support to head me in the right direction would be appreciated.

  • OUTPUT PNG W/ Alpha for the web?

    Hello to everyone.
    I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this...
    I need to output my file as a PNG with an ALPHA Channel for the web.  First, I created an alpha for my image, and then I tried to simply use the "save as" function and select the PNG format, but the ALPHA selection is grayed out.  I've also tried "the save for web function" and selected transparency, but when I reopen the file the alpha channel has dissappeared.  I know that it is possible to save an alpha channel to a PNG, but I can't seem to do it with Photoshop... Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.
    Bryce

    Hello Zeno Bokor
    Thanks for your reply.
    In fact, my client, who is using the images for a web game that they are developing, requested that the files have an Alpha channel.  They have explained that the alpha channel helps the video program understand what areas are transparent.
    I wish that it was just a case of transparency... It would be hell of a lot easier.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks again.

  • What processes are included in 'save for the web'

    When I save a photo using the Photoshop CS3 'save for the web' command, I resize the photo to, for example, 800 pixels on the long side. It comes back the correct size but sometimes the colors look different (a little red usually). Is this because I was editing the original photo in RGB? Should I convert to profile, sRGB before I save for the Web? Or does Photoshop do this automatically? OR, should I convert to sRGB and then do color adjustments for the web?
    Sorry, I'm a little confused about this...
    Thanks,
    Jody

    Photoshop is color managed. However, the web is not, so when you save to web, you lose your color management. If you want to see what is going to happen after SFW, you should set the color to sRGB, as you guessed.
    However, that will only set the way the color looks on your monitor. It could vary wildly on anyone else's monitor.

  • Save for the web colors

    I was having trouble with image colors when I used 'save for the web' and I found a couple of solutions in tech notes regarding embedded color profiles but there is some thing I just don't understand.
    It says:
    "To ensure that colors are consistent in Photoshop, ImageReady and the Save for the Web dialog box, use an embedded color profile for display in each, or preview the image in Photoshop using the monitors RGB color space. Note that if you use an embedded color profile for display, colors may appear incorrectly if you view the image in an application that cannot read color profiles."
    Can somebody give me the lowdown on what exactly a color profile is (what it does, when you should embed one etc) and some examples of the kind of application that can't read them i.e. if I send the photos via e-mail can the profile be read? put them on a web page?
    Thanks for any illumination!
    j.

    A profile is a file that decribes to applications that can read them the color and tonal characteristics of a particular device. A profile can also be a mathematical description of a particular RGB or CMYK Lab color space. You've probably seen RGB working spaces in Photoshop referred to in terms like sRGB, Adobe RGB, ProPhoto RGB, etc. Any application that is color managed and can read and use profiles needs a minimum of two profile to to the job - a source profile and a destination profile. When you're looking at images on your computer monitor, the source is your RGB working space and the destination is your specific monitor. Photoshop uses both the working space profile and the monitor profile to display your image correctly. Most other applications in Windows do not read profile and have to assume either "Monitor RGB" or sRGB as the source for the file. If your file is not one of those, then false asumptioins are made and the image does not appear correctly. Some web browsers like Firefox 3 and Apple Safari do read profiles but not necessarily by default. You have to turn the option in FF. Some email readers are color managed, others not.
    Profiles can be and usually are embedded in the document when you save it. Unless you have a good reason for not embedding a profile, it's almost always a good idea. It adds 4K to the file size and will let someone down the line who is using a color managed application see the file how you intended it. You have no control over the others, but that's life online. Currentlyl the best strategy is convert files destined for the web to sRGB and embed the profiles. That might change in the future, but it's a good place to be right now.
