Bumper/Case use with Bose or Dock

Personally I do NOT like putting the cheap plastic cases or bumpers on the iPhone, they don't feel good in hand, don't slide well into my pocket, are ugly... but if I do get one, would I have to remove it each time I want to charge it in my iPhone dock or play music on the Bose speakers?
If so... how practical is it? I bought a case for my previous iPhone 3G, I removed it the same day and never used it. The phone didn't fit in the speakers, or was pulling out my pocket each time I tried to take out the phone.
Any solutions? Because seems like Apple really is not going to fix that phone,

Using an iPod Classic on a Bose sound dock....when loading the iPod from the Mac, what  "Import Settings" (under iTune "Preferences"),  should be used to maintain a constant sound level when playing music?  Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.1.
There are many Import Settings available and it is somewhat confusing.  Any suggestions?

  • Problem with bose sound dock 2 series and iOS 5.1.1

Hi everyone i just bought a bose sound dock 2 series,is made for iphone 4 and 4s but with ios 5.1.1. but doesnt work..how could be possible?Dock is ok but i cant hear the music from my iphone 4!!I spent 400 euro!!!
    Please help me!!!
    Thanks in advance

From what I have read on this discussion boards so far, it sounds as though Bose was using the 12v firewire charging circuit on there Sound Dock and not the recommended 5v charging circuit that Apple told all of its licensed accessory manufactures to start using, when Apple changed the syncing of iPods from firewire to USB2, a few years ago.
The firmware update has now enforced charging via the 5v circuit and those manufactures that ignored Apple specifications, are now faced with end users, asking those manufactures for a fix, (not Apple.) This has been a well known road map between the accessory manufactures and Apple, for at least 3 to 4 years now.
Here's the funny part, even apples own HiFi system breaks there own rules and doesn't charge, you would think they would follow there own guidelines, wouldn't you?

  • 4.3 not compatible with Bose sound dock

I updated iPhone 3GS to 4.2 then 4.3 last week and I now get an error about incompatible product when I plug it in to my new Bose sound dock 10 (and I get no sound).before the updates it worked fine. My wife has the same phone still running 4.0.1 and hers still works fine. Any suggestions?
Perhaps apple would like to refund my $1000 spent on the sound dock

I am not sure about the certification you are talking about (will check) spoke to both apple phone support and BOSE support. Neither had heard about it or come across it. Apple suggested to contact BOSE and see if there was an update (which can't be done) - Spoke to BOSE and at least they were going to get someone who had an Iphone 3gs to update theirs and do a test. I did visit the apple reseller where I purchased the sound dock and they were no help stating they had no way of logging anything with apple. tried the iphone in another sound dock 10 which did exactly the same thing.

  • ITouch iOS 6.1.3 not supported with bose iPod dock

We just had a Bose lifestyle v35 system installed in our home. The system sounds great and works seamlessly with all products except my iTouch V 5, iOS 6.1.3. The problem is not a faulty dock because earlier versions of iPod work quickly as described in product manuals. I have tried 2 different Lightning to 30 pin adapter. Both are Apple products. Has anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, did you find a solution? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

The Apple Lightning to 30 pin adopter supports audio.

This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.

  • What app games can i use with my keyboard+dock???

Hi all, i just buy my iPad2 Keyboard+Dock Original by Apple. But i cant find games to play with my keyboard. Can enyone tell me what games are for the keyboard?

Hi Meg St_Clair, well i was thinking of a Snake or car game that can be played with the Arrow or the W, S, A and d keys. Maybe a alphabet game to type answers or the HangMan, using the Keyboard. That will be nice.

  • Would like dockable case - maybe with old iPod docking Station?!

So I love my iPhone. I need a case. I drop things a lot! I realized the iPhone will sync with the old 2003 iPod Docking Station, which is less tight. Maybe there is a plastic case of some sort that will fit perfectly in here? Is there a case that would protect my iPhone and allow docking into the old docking station? I can't find anything in the store that will fit into the new, tiny docking station.
    Thanks!

I have been looking for the same thing but have not had any luck.

  • After installing the latest iOS update, my iPhone 4S is no longer compatible with Bose Sound Dock...any suggestions?

  • Bose Sound Docks are no longer compatible with Apple iPhones or iPods?

When plugging my iPhone 4S or 5, or my iPod 3rd Gen or 7th Gen into my Bose Sound Dock, I recieve a message that reads, "This iPhone/iPod is not compatible with this accessory" and will not play stored music.
    Background Info:
         - The Bose Sound Dock was designed to support Apple products.
         - All software/OS on the Apple products is current as of Dec 2013.
         - The Bose product doesn't have update-able software associated with it.
         - Clearly, something has changed with the Apple products.
What can be done to fix this so that iPhones and iPods will play again on Bose products?
I've unplugged/replugged the Bose Sound Dock, and I've powered down and powered up the Apple products expecting that something would reset, but these steps have proved to be ineffective and nothing has changed.

Ok, I was having the same issue which is why I came across this post (in search of an answer). I MAY have figured it out...I have an iPod, don't-remember-what generation, and it has always worked with my Bose sound dock portable speaker, approx 2-3 years. Anyway, a few months ago, the Bose stopped picking up that I "docked" my iPod onto it. A long while has gone by and we haven't done anything about it bc our speaker was out of warranty and didn't want to spend the $100 it costs to repair (thru Bose, don't know about other places $, but I've learned the hard way to stick to manufacturer for high-end brand device repair). Long story short, we really missed using our speaker outside and I decided to send it in instead of buying a new one (new one-year warranty comes with the repair, so I figured it was $100 cheaper than buying a new one). An added note, we tried putting my husbands iPhone 4S on the dock and it didn't read it, either; the Bose didn't charge either device, didn't acknowledge in anyway that a device was on the dock attachment piece. Back to present day... I got my speaker back from Bose, and I was so happy to try it out. I put my iPod on the attachment, and voila! It charged the iPod (so clearly it registered that a device was attached), but DID NOT PLAY MUSIC....Exact same message about incompatibility. So, when my husband got home, we tried his phone (this is last week, literally, and I was mad thinking it was the recent apple software update and that I just threw away $100). Guess what? His phone worked! Pandora, his music, you name it. When I called Bose and suggested it could be a software update issue? They replied it wasn't, that the sound dock works with the devices after update, but the piece was still bad, as it was not working correctly if it was not playing the iPod, regardless of the new update, and/or what generation it was. So my thoughts are that it is the attachment where you sit your device on the Bose that has gone faulty. I packaged up my speaker and it's going backs to Bose at their expense to repair. It stinks that I won't have it for Christmas to play music as we enjoy the outdoors, but at this point, I will just be content if they get it to work again!

  • I purchased the 5s yesterday and wanted to dock the phone into my Bose Sound Dock that I use for my IPOD and used for my previous Apple smart phone.  What steps do I need to take to use the feature of Pandora on this IPOD dock

I purchased a Apple 5s yesterday replacing my two year old Apple 3G.  With my old phone I used it to dock into a Bose Sound Dock to listen to Pandora and other music outlets.  The Bose dock also is used to play my IPOD.  What steps do I need to take to use my new phone on this dock to continue playing Pandora

This is the only thing I could find but it does not answer my question or even what I was told by the Global Support Rep.
Verizon has confirmed (here and here) they WILL unlock the SIM on the iPhone 4S, allowing for use of local SIM cards while traveling abroad (no word yet on whether this will allow for use on AT&T and T-Mobile.) This is different than the jailbreak unlocking method; SIM unlocking through Verizon is permanent and will not affect your warranty in any way.
    1. Meet the following requirements:
    * Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.
    * The iPhone 4S being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
    * The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
    * The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
    * Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
If you don't meet one or more of the above requirements, call anyway. You may still get lucky.
    2. Insert a foreign SIM into the SIM card slot on the side of your phone (only required to confirm that the unlock is successful.)
    3. Call 1-800-711-8300 (Verizon Global Support) and ask the representative for a SIM unlock. Occassionally a representative may not know exactly what you are referring to; make sure you are not transferred to a different department. You are in the right place. Explain that they should have a walkthrough on how to do this, and that it allows for the use of local, non-Verizon SIM cards while traveling abroad.
    4. Get confirmation from the rep that the unlock has been applied to your account, then check your phone to make sure it recognizes your SIM and can connect (if successful it will roam on AT&T, assuming you are calling from the USA.) You will NOT see an unlock confirmation in iTunes as that is for a factory-applied unlock only.
    5. Enjoy your new unlocked iPhone 4S!

  • Iphone with bumper case and connector cable

I recently purchased the iPhone 4 and gave my wife my 3G. I had a couple of cables that I use on the 3G for my car and at the desk. I attempted today to charge the iPhone 4 while on a trip only find that the cables that I have for the 3G will not fit into the iPhone 4 which has the bumper case. The opening on the case is smaller than the plastic insulator on the connector.
Fortunately I brought the one that came with it, which normally stays on my desk, along on the trip and was able to charge it without taking the case off. But now it appears I'll have to purchase another cable for my car charger.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I made the same discovery on both my iPhone4s. It would fit on my SkyDock either. So I was able to successfully Dremel both of them for a secure fit. It only takes about 15 minutes of careful work to get them modified for greater charger compatibility. Not sure it wasn't intentional to increase aggregate charger sales.

  • Why doesn't my Bose Sound Dock work with my iPod Touch?

I have a Bose Sound Dock, purchased about 2006 or 7.  It worked fine with the 5th gen iPod Classic, but will not work with the iPod Touch.  Does anyone know why?
    Thanks!

Very likely because it does not comunicate with iOS devices.  The "dumb" iPods do not use iOS but a very simple OS instead. The first iPod Touch came out in Sept 2007.

  • Can i use my old IPOD dock with the new G5 IPOD?

Can i use my old IPOD dock with the new G5 IPOD?

That's really good to know. I thought because it was a different thickness you wouldn't be able to, and the dock adaptor that comes with the new iPods doesn't fit into the old Photo dock.
Do you know if you can use the charger that came with the old Photo iPods? You can plug straight into the power socket, but the cable that goes into the charger from the iPod is the firewire cable, so I was thinking maybe it wouldn't work, and I don't want to try it in case I short out my iPod or something!

  • HT1665 Bose sound dock with the new Lightning connection of an iPhone5?

There are many accessories for use with the original 30pin connector, how are we to use these still great and useful items like sound dock with the new lightning connector?

Use the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter - this will make your iPhone or iPod very wobbly on the SoundDock.  To correct this and prevent damage to the 30-pin connector, make a upper support for your device from a white polymer eraser. Cut it in an 'L' shape as shown in the photo, the dimensions depending on whether you do or don't dock with a case.  You'll find your device is even more stable than when you used the 30 pin adapter.  One eraser will make 3-4 of these supports, depending on the dimensions you choose.
