Bundle Status

Hi
Now that I'm all updated and running OK and ZDC is happy, I would like to chase up stuff that is not working.
In the early days my Bundle Status showed figures that were glossed over with the attitude of "got bigger fish to fry".
Now on new published bundles, I'm not getting anything at all. The older bundles still have figures still there but I don't think they have changed. The DB sort of stuck and not recording anything.
Any ideas where to look?
Cheers

You have two issues here. See:
    http://www.novell.com/documentation/...a/bay7wv7.html
Acknowledge is not the same as "Delete"
The other is that the "status" you see on the Bundle is not always updated correctly.

  • Retired devices and bundle status

    Hi all!
I might missunderstad the documentation, but as I read it a device that is retired should loose it's bundle and policy association. According to documentation "As a result, all inventory information is retained and is assessable but all policy and bundle assignments are removed".
When I check the bundle status many of my retired devices is listed under pending, event with bundles created after the device got retired.
    Any suggestions?
    Best regards

  • MSI will not install; Bundle status is "Downloaded"

Have been receiving numerous "Error impersonating configured user." messages.
I changed the bundle to "Run as secure system user (don't allow system to interact with desktop)" and changed the "Install MSI" action's "Install Parameters:" to from /i to /im. ("Install MSI" is the only action.)
I then incremented the version number. "Install Options" are set to "Install always".
The bundle status in the ZENworks Adaptive Agent is shown as "Downloaded" and the .MSI does not run.
The clients PC's use Windows 7.

    Murrutia,
    > Before incrementing the version number, can you tell me what the
    > expected result would be in the there are devices that already have had
    > a successful installation of the bundle? Will the Zenwork agent "ignore"
    > the install or will a re-install be attempted?
A reinstall will be attempted if the verstion number is changed:
    tion/?page=/documentation/zenworks11/zen11_cm_software_distribution/data/b
    z87zho.html)
"D.1 Triggers that Cause an Install Action Set to Run
If you assign a bundle to a device or user, the Install action set runs on
the device only in the following circumstances:
If the Install action set has never run on the device.
If the version of the Install action set is different from the version of
the Install action set that has previously run on the device
The Install action set of a bundle is internally associated with a global
version identifier and the Install action set of every bundle version is
internally associated with a local version identifier.
If you make any modifications to a bundle other than modifying its Install
action set, the Install action set of the sandbox that is created has the
same local version identifier as the bundle version you modified. However,
if you modify the Install action set of a bundle, the global version
identifier of the bundles Install action set is incremented by one and
the modified Install action sets local version identifier is set to the
new value of the global version identifier.
If the install action set or its options are modified and the bundle is
re-published, then when the bundle is installed or launched, the install
action set is invoked again, even if it has been set to install only
    once."

  • Logging event trunk-status vs link-status vs bundle-status

    Hi
This is not really a query regarding the above interface level commands, but just looking for someone elses view on the differences regardless of however subtle they are.
No links please, like I said I know what they are and do.
Just your real life expereinces why you needed bundle-status for instance will do just fine.
    thanks in advance

Three different use cases for status notifications.
I'll give you my experience with using these commands and where they are useful.
Logging event trunk-status--this command is particularly useful for tracking security vulnerabilities as well as trunk mismatches when you're relying on DTP for trunk negotiation.
Say you have a trunk uplink on a switch that links to a distribution switch. This trunk carries traffic for multiple VLANs (thus the very definition of a trunk).
Lets say the other side of the link on the distribution switch is for some reason changed from a trunking state (switchport mode trunk, or switchport mode dynamic desirable/auto) to a non-trunking state (switchport mode access). If the uplink on your access layer switch is not hard-coded for trunk-mode (switchport mode trunk and/or switchport nonegotiate), then your uplink interface can potentially be changed from a trunk port to an access port and only carry traffic for a single VLAN. This would leave other clients on the access switch VLANs stranded from the rest of the network. This logging mechanism would let you know that the switchport is no longer an operational trunk, even though the link status would still be up.
Of course, as a best practice, you should never rely on DTP to form trunk links, especially on uplinks.
The second use is for security--if you have an interface that you KNOW should never become a trunk interface (i.e. an access port where clients connect), and for whatever reason the interface becomes a trunk link (due to a compromised switch or an over-reliance on DTP), you could potentially expose VLANs that users should never have access to. This logging mechanism would let you know if that happens.
Logging event link-status--this one is simple--it logs whether the interface is up/down or changes. One thing I find this useful for is on particularly important interfaces--uplink interfaces, routing adjacency interfaces, server interfaces, etc. Use this on any port when you want to absolutely know if it goes down.
Logging event bundle-status--this one is fairly simple as well--it logs whether there is a change in the port-channel. This could be triggered by a member interface leaving or joining. One reason you would want to use this is for guaranteed bandwidth and configuration consistency.
Sometimes port-channel members leave a channel-group because the configuration is changed on one member and not on the other, likely by mistake. This could catch an error like that and cue you on where to look into the issue. As for bandwidth, obviously you don't want to believe you have 20Gbps or 2Gbps on your uplink, then find out that you actually have half (or whatever portion) of that bandwidth missing because a member has left the port-channel. Both situations can be avoided by monitoring the status of your bundle (or port-channel).

  • Bundle Status Issues

    Hello,
Several of our bundles are reporting their effective statuses incorrectly. For example, one bundle that makes a bunch of registry changes has been installed successfully on every device I've checked, yet it only reports as being effective on 34 devices, with 253 pending. This is definitely incorrect. Any ideas? How does Zenworks determine if all a bundles actions (ie. registry edits) have been completed successfully?

    hi
i have this status issue also. i have 22 device succeeded, but when i click on it, it list's me no device.
i really need this function, to control where it has installed and where not.
    i have ZCM 10.3.3. on SLES 10.
have the debug activated, look at the zmd-messages.log but really dont know for what to search !!!!
i opened a ticket, but they dont have a really fast solution....(no solution till yet).

Note that you will need debug logging to see anything useful.
Check zmd-messages, but make sure a zac emp wakeup

  • Patch Bundles failing on Install

Looking at Patch Bundle status: Bundles-->ZPM-->2015 January Critical - CCC-->Bundle Status-->(Device assignments-Devices Succeeded). Most workstations show Partial Complete. When looking at the details of the deployment under install, this is the error I am receiving: There is no user session available or user session cannot be determined. I am running 11.3.2 on the server side, but the workstations are at 11.3.0 currently.

This was a known issue on 11.3.0.......
Patch Bundles would not install properly if a user was not logged onto the device.
If you upgrade the devices to 11.3.2, the issue should go away.

  • Assignment Status - Summary is blank

    Hi,
I cannot see any list of assignments (devices or users) in either bundles or policies.
    ZCM 10.3 on Windows boxes.
    Scenario:
There may be numbers in the assignment status (Targeted Devices, Effective Device,s Not Effective, Pending).
For example, Pending has a number of 600.
If I click on this 600 number I am redirected to the Bundle Status page (Device assignments-Devices Pending).
On this page, the list is empty.
The table says 1 - 10 of 600, but there is nothing listed at all.
I can navigate through the pages, 11 - 20 of 600, but still nothing is listed.
    Any ideas?

  • How to use a custom Persistence Manager

I'm experimenting with implementing a custom Persistence Manager for CRX/CQ5. How the underlying implementation works is not important, the issue I'm having seems instead to be related to classloading or OSGi inside CQ5.
I've implemented a custom Persistence Manager (implements org.apache.jackrabbit.core.persistence.PersistenceManager) and a custom FileSystem (implements org.apache.jackrabbit.core.fs.FileSystem).
I've verified that both implementations function correctly with plain Apache Jackrabbit (version 2.4.0, the same version used internally by CQ5.5).
I've packaged my implementation and all its dependencies as an OSGi bundle and installed it to CQ5.5. All dependencies as resolved and the bundle status in the OSGi console is "Active".
I then followed these instructions for configuring the CQ 5.5 repository to use my PersistenceManager and FileSystem implementations:
    http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/core/administering/persistence_managers.html#The%20T ar%20Persistence%20Manager
The configuration seems to be read just fine but I get the following exception when restarting CQ:
    23.04.2012 09:20:23.714 *ERROR* [FelixStartLevel] com.day.crx.sling.server [com.day.crx.sling.server.impl.jmx.ManagedRepository]

Anyone have any idea how to get past this?
My FileSystem class most certainly does implement org.apache.jackrabbit.core.fs.FileSystem, as verified by that it works just fine with Jackrabbit.
I've also made sure that I use the exact same jackrabbit-core jar file in my bundle that is included in the com.day.crx.sling.server bundle.

I would do that, but none of the bundles in CQ5.5 export the jackrabbit-core interfaces, so I get an unsatisfied dependency (or whatever the OSGi term is) then.
So that's why I tried including it in my bundle as well.
The only place that I can see jackrabbit-core in the provided bundles is loaded internally in the Bundle Classpath of the com.day.crx.sling.server bundle.
Should I try modifying that manifest so that it gets exported?

  • CRX/DE failing on Publish nodes with 404 for JSON data

I'm in the process of rebuilding our author and publish staging instances using the 2.1 service pack for CQ5.5, and now I'm seeing problems with CRX/DE on both publish nodes on two difference machines.
We get this error whenever we try to pull up CRX/DE on these two nodes:
    11.03.2013 13:18:40.222 *INFO* [12.104.103.30 [1363022320201] GET /crx/server/crx.default/jcr%3aroot/.1.json HTTP/1.1] org.apache.sling.engine.impl.SlingRequestProcessorImpl service: Resource /crx/server/crx.default/jcr:root/.1.json not found
The app works fine on the author node, and the websites themselves still appear to serve correctly from the publish instances.
The odd thing is that, after I saw this problem, I wiped both publish instances and restored from a backup I had made this morning and restarted them to find that the problem persists.
Any thoughts?  I had thought myself done with this process until this issue appearing suddenly.  At the time I was rebuilding bundles on the Author node after having installed an updated content package and replicating it to the publish nodes.  I was attempting to rebuild the bundles on the Publish nodes when I saw the CRX/DE problem.

    Hi,
It seems to be access issue to me even though you have logged in as admin. To confirm this do the below.
    1. Open a browser and log in to your author instance using admin rights.
    2. Now using same browser now access http://localhost:4502/crx/server/crx.default/jcr:root/.1.json which is actually request to access jcr respository. When you access this link you will see the proper JSON response return.
    Now
    1. Open another browser (not same as above because above browser does have your cq session) and just access http://localhost:4502/crx/server/crx.default/jcr:root/.1.json you will see a 404 because anonymous user doesnt have access to it.
If above is true then plz try to look at your permissioning for jcr:root ("/") and if it looks good then check for authorization bundles status in felix console and check logs.
Also try to access crx explorer, if you can see the hierarchy http://<host>:<port>/crx/explorer/browser/index.jsp
    Thanks,
    Pawan

  • QoS on Catalyst 6500

We have the following QoS config running on Edge, Distributions and Cores and got the following error.
“priority command is not supported in output direction for this interface
    Configuration failed on: Port-channel”
We had opened a TAC case and they said ” PFC QoS does not support these policy map class commands:
    bandwidth
    priority
    queue-limit
    random-detect
    set qos-group
    service-policy
How can we prioritize voip traffic. On our monitoring application, it says queues empty. Even if the priority command is not working there should be traffic in the queue.Different version of supervisors in Distribution (sup720) and COREs (Sup2).
Any suggestions? Attached document gives Config details.

Are your Access Layer switches also 6500s? What Supervisor(s) are running in your 6500s & what CatOS or CatIOS are you running?
It sounds like you are redefining your trust boundary at every layer (Access, Distribution, Core). Did you get a chance to look over this SRND document?

  • 2.4GHZ clients very slow speeds with AP3600

    5508 WLC (7.5.102)
    AP36021
We currently have a test WiFi SSID setup that uses basic mac filtering on our WLC's
WLAN is configured with WPA and WPA2 L2 Security with WPA Policy and WPA2 Encryption.
For some reason we seem to be getting very slow speeds on clients with 2.4GHZ
for example speedtest.net I get 70mg upload and 65mg download on 5GHZ devices and about 1-3mg download and 1mg upload for 2.4GZ devices!
    AP36021 are dual band with 4 channels (2 x 2.4Ghz and 2 x 5Ghz)
fyi - There are no dropped packets on the client stats via Prime mgmt that use 2.4GHZ
    Any ideas here?

  • More ZPM in ZCM questions--intended behavior?

Perhaps I am doing something wrong or not looking in the correct spot.
If I use ZPM in ZCM, there seems to be some deficiencies:
    a) Refresh of patch status. Meaning I go into Patch Management, click on a patch and select Actions -> Update Cache. I get the icon to change animation but it NEVER changes status unless you manually refresh the web browser. I do not believe that ZPM 6.4.x (Novell branded product) behaves this way. I think the ZPM 6.4.x will refresh the page automatically for you so you know when it's done downloading.
    b) Patch deployment status - you can't really tell what's going on with the devices. In ZPM 6.4.x I can go into devices and I see animations as to what the machine status is (is it on, is it doing a DAU, is it deploying a patch). I don't seem to be able to find any of this information in ZCM (meaning I can't just look at the device icon and see what it's doing, I have to go into the patches tab or something to see if it got deployed, but I don't know what the "live" status of the machine is).
    c) Patch Deploys in general - I am pretty sure I can go into ZPM 6.4.x and find my deployment tab and see what I chose to deploy, when, and to which machines. I don't seem to be able to find this in ZCM. I do see something like "deploy on some heinous formatted date/time" but that's it. I have to scrounge around inside the deploy to the actions section and even then it doesn't reall show me in a nice format which machines it was deployed to, let alone the status of the machines.
Again, I could be looking in the wrong spot, or perhaps it's not there.

In response here we've gone through great efforts to make the integration consistent with ZCM behavior.
    a) Only a couple of pages do auto refresh of status in ZCM. This is to allow for the greatest performance. ZPM is consistent with the rest of the ZCM behavior such as bundle status and policy status. By refreshing the page status updates.
    b) Since all deployments are done using the bundle system in ZCM you can track all status of ZPM deployments by looking at the Bundle status. There is a ZPM Assignment bundle created for each deployment. It should have status of deliveries and errors if you look at it.
    c) You should be able to go to the ZPM Assignment bundle and look at the Install Action Set. It will show you which patches are being deployed.

  • Cannot register asset to the zone

I continue to get an error code: -21 could not determine device type OS.
I get this when I goto a command prompt and type zac register https://192.168.1.251
I type in the right username and password, but it's not working and gives this error back.
How else can I get this asset registered?

if it's /not/ one of thise scenarios, then you have a different

o.k. thanks for responding. Now just trying to get the login info for the Sybase db utility and I'll let you know the rest. I do need to apply that patch.
