? I think the "the CD is too big is a lame response". Basically..."We don't support our products, but our sales department sells other products to support our previous products! Buy more products!" I know from experience that it is not the bulk of the huge CD that most need, it's just the fact that the Extigy is 90% unconfigurable without the mixer and you can't download that key piece. To make the Extigy dependant on the SB Mixer to be configured and then say you're out of luck if you lose the CD is a deplorable ploy to force people to buy new cards every year they don't need and I've been suffering with this for YEARS now as I lost my CD to my Extigy a good bit ago and hence can't adjust it and can really only use it as it sits, if it were the internal version I would be totally FUBAR. THIS is deplorable and the face that you stand behind this, "Well the CD is just too big" is the lamest cop-out to not including the mixer in the download I've ever heard. AND in case any of you wonder, it didn't exist for download from DAY , not just since it became a year old. When this device was a DAY OLD they forced you to buy the CD for an ENORMOUS mark-up or be left with a barely functional box otherwise. THIS is, I believe why that many will never purchase from SB again....Just a guess...

I have tried to use these applications, but once the setup starts it always says "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audio Card on your system. 5Software Installation for Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook[ Hello, I have searched through the sound blaster forum for an answer to my question, but have been unable to find it.
I recently recieved a sound blaster x-fi notebook. When I inserted the unit into my computer, the drivers installed just fine and I am able to use it, however, when I try to install the software bundled with the product on disk, something goes wrong. To be honest, I have no idea what it is. The problem seems to be with the install wizard itself on the disk provided me, because the install progress gets to about 20% and freezes while installing the Creative Console Launcher. I'm not sure if I just need a new CD, or if it is a problem with the software itself and nothing can be done.
If anybody can provide some insight as to what the problem is or how I can fix it, I would be very appreciati've.

Glad that it work for you. I think someone is asking for feedback in that driver download thread. Maybe you can post your feedback there on how is it for your x-Fi Notebook with the new driver set. I believe there are others who would be like you and would certainly love to hear any good news. Everyone has always been posting on what's bad and what's not working, but i think we should also post to tell what's good and what's working.

Perhaps Asio4All or USB-ASIO (LX not said to be supported) driver is needed to be installed to get a sort of ASIO support for that USB device.

Windows Vista Driver for Sound Blaster 5.1 P

I want driver for Windows Vista 32 Bit edition for Sound Blaster 5. PCI sound card. I have loaded the Windows XP driver but as a result of that it is playing audio in 2 speaker stereo mode, but i have creative 5. speaker system. As a result of that sound is coming almost only from the front two speakers. Creative MIXER is also not working. Please suggest a solution.

Hi daniel_k , the driver works fine but there's a little problem : when i reboot , the startup process stops at about 50 percent (stops responding)?, when i launched the startup repair utility which takes about 0 mins to complete , then the pc boots normally?. When i look in device manager , it says my sound card?has no driver installed?but when reinstalling your driver it's ok again ! The main problem is when i restart ! Please note that i reinstalled windows 7 and performed a clean install of the driver as you requested before this problem arises . Please?can you fix the driver or give another one . Thanks .

I confirm that the two files SBTA_PCFW_BETA_US_D0_0_2.exe and SBTS_PCFW_BETA_US_D0_0_2.exe are corrupted (not Win32 applications). The downloads do not complete and stop respecti'vely at .36 KB and 05 KB.
Creative, you have to reupload the files on your webserver.
Download done with XP and IE8.

Rear Channel Sound Volume Controller for sound blaster Aud

Hi?Every body Wish you a wonderful new year 2008,?I am using creative sound blaster Audigy? sound card and the speaker system is creative inspire 5. I have the volume controller for front and center and subwooferbut i don`t have the controller for rear channel and the same time the rear channel is working with the low volume?not able to hear the sound from the rear channel but its working fine if i go near to the speaker i can hear the sound very lowi need to increase the sound for the rear channel?If any body know how to control the rear channel for sound blaster audigy could you let me know .... i want to add. some additional information, my 5. speaker doesn't have digital output, the line out for the sub woofer and centre are red and white line just like the same as the other speaker line, i don't know weather it will cause the front doesn't work or not, but i had read some post it said "In the Creative Mixer, be sure to disable the option for Digital Output Only, and set the number of speakers accordingly. For example, if you have a 5. channel speaker system, select 5.."
if, i didn't change the creative mixer to "disable the option for digital output", will it cause the centre and sub woofer have no sound at all? plesae reply A.S.A.P. as i don't know weather it is the problem of the sound card or just a problem of the setting.....thanks alot.

CMSS for Sound Blaster Z

Hi All,
Is there a way to enable a CMSS or to sterio upmix method for Sound Blaster Z soundcard,
I found it rather disappointing since I'm using 5.1 setup (logitech Z-5500) I though it was an upgrade from X-FI Fatality series and found out there was no CMSS feature that comes with SBZ.
Do we have a way to enable it manually, like a tweak or something?

CMSS was superseded by THX TruStudio Surround, which itself was either superseded or renamed into SBX Pro Studio Surround. You'll find it on the SBX Pro Studio tab of the control panel, as the first checkbox.
I personally prefer how the SBX version sounds compared to CMSS (which is just as well, since that's the only way I can really use headphones these days due to hearing loss). The only real limitation it has compared to CMSS is that you cannot specify it to simply do a dual-stereo or the like - it will always add a faux 3D effect to it.

Update for Sound Blaster

Okay, so I have the most recent update(SBAX-PCDRV_LB_2_8_00) for Sound Blaster Audigy, when I try to install I keep getting an error message "set up is unable to detect a supported product on your system" so what gives here, is creative just playing games or what ?

I have similar problems, not only on the front panel either. Basically many power spikes will rattle the card and cause all sorts of problems including the one you mentioned. Advice- power down before connecting or disconnecting anything.

Can't install drivers for sound blaster live Telling me there isn't a sound blaster card install

I am doing a fresh install of xp on a machine. This machine had no hardware issues before I formated the dri've and re-installed windows xp.
Everytime I go to install the drivers for the sound card I get an error message telling me that setup cannot find a sound blaster card installed on the system?
I even pulled a known working li've card from the machine I have downstairs. Put the card in and started up the machine. The driver pack is still telling me there is no card installed. I've tried three different pci slots as well.
I even went as far as re-installing windows xp without service pack 2 integrated and even that didn't help!!!
Is there some kind of fix that I am missing?

the unipack download from creative will not work. first, try asking around if somebody else has the same 5. creative card as yours. the only solution for your problem is to use the installation cd that came with your creative card. I lost mine so i went to a pc repair shop and inquired if they have a copy of such cd - they normally do.
. you need to remove all the programs concerning creative from add remove programs. 2. shut down, and remove the sound card. 3. turn the pc on and let windows boot normally. install the the softwares and drivers using the cd that came with the box. 4. shut down and install the sound card 5. turn on the pc. windows will find a new hardware and will find the right drivers bec you have previously installed them. There is absolutely no need to reformat your hard dri've.

Can't install drivers for Sound Blaster Live! No ctzapxx.exe file

As above, I had to reboot my system and used a disk eraser as I wanted a clean slate. So obviously I have to reinstall the drivers for diff things such as sound card, USB 2.0 card etc. Everything goes fine until I get to installing the drivers for the Sound Blaster Li've!?I inserted the disc and installed the drivers, then I restarted Windows as requested. When it loads back up it'sdetects the sound card and trys to install the driver, but it can not find the driver anywhere, not on the PC or on the CD. After looking into things I thought I would go down the approach using the ctzapxx.exe file mentioned here - <a target="_blank"]http://93.95.7.84/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=4,E=000000000033636605,K=5285,Sxi=8,Answer2655 5=obj(26555)bj(26559[/url])?But for some reason this file isn't on the CD, which is what I think is stopping me from installing the drivers. My OS is Windows XP SP2. I have files that a similar in name to ctzapxx.exe , but they don't seem to do anything. I am usual ok with computer software but hardware and BIOS etc isn't my strong point as you may have gathered. I'm hoping someone knows how to sort this as it is a real pain not having any sound.
