Bundled Software with new laptop

I recently purchased a new Toshiba laptop, and it came with a lot a bundled software or "bloatware". Included with my computer is:
Microsoft Works, TOSHIBA Power Saving ECO utility, Corel® DVD MovieFactory® for TOSHIBA, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor, Norton Internet Security™ 2009 (30 day trial), WildTangent® Orb™ Games Console, TOSHIBA HDD Protection (3D Sensor), Hard disc (HDD) recovery, PowerCinema for TOSHIBA, TOSHIBA Face Recognition, TOSHIBA ConfigFree®, TOSHIBA Disc Creator, Microsoft® Office Trial Home and Student 2007 Edition (60-day trial), Google Picasa™, TOSHIBA DVD Player, TOSHIBA Speech System, TOSHIBA Web Camera Application, Adobe AIR
I have already removed most of these (such as wildtangent and the 60 day office trial), but I do not know what some of these do, and whether or not it will mess up my computer somehow of I delete them. Could you give me more information on what these programs do and if it is safe to delete them? Thank you.

Works is like Microsoft Office but less fully featured.

  • Cisco Wireless card software for new laptops

Since new laptops no longer have PCMCIA slots, and Cisco doesnt sell a compatible card, at least none I can find, will their site survey tool work with the built in cards?  I need to do a site survey for implementing a MESH, and dont have the software anymore, mine died a horrible death.

tahequivoice wrote:Do they also have a magic pill that convinces he who spends money to buy one?   I do about 3 surveys a year, so hard to justify it. What other purpose can it serve?
Try Ekahau Site Survey or, better yet, TamoGraph Site Survey. A far more attractive price tag and excellent quality. TamoGraph should support virtually any built-in adapter, unless it's Ralink-based.

  • Unwanted software with new Flash 11 install - Underhanded

I am sorry of the tone of this discussion. I installed Flash Player 11 last night. The screen pops up and some strange software description shows up with either a dismiss or next button at the bottom. I look at the main window and for sure it says Adobe. I click dismiss only to find out that I have to dismiss 4 more software packages BEFORE I get to the flash install button. I thought you guys were above this cheap, blatant, stupid approach to providing user value. My whole impression of your company changed instantly. Because of this, every adobe software package i have, I have shutoff all updates so I can manually see what junk may be coming from you into my computer. Once flash was installed, I went back to my control panel/programs, and guess what, there were 3 junk programs you installed without my permission.
This is so sad. Since the computer I had this issue with only has three software packages on it besides yours, and they have not been updated, I know this sneaky, underhanded method of giving away FREE software is your new norm.
I think social media is my next move to vent my disappointment with your company.

I am very curious from where you downloaded that installer.
There are bundled software offers on the official Flash Player download page, but they can easily be unchecked:
There is no bundled software if you use the offline installers:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Flash Player for Mac OS

  • My old laptop crashed and i want to re-establish my iPhone with new laptop including saving all info on phone

My old laptop crashed and I want to re-establish my iPhone with a new laptop. I had no chance for backing up just before the crash, so I need some other way of transfering ALL files, contacts, calendars, photos, etc simply. Can I transfer any data out of my old laptop HDD ? The iTunes on the new laptop doesn't like the idea of me using it for the old phone either !!

If the hard drive in your old laptop still works you could put it in an external enclosure in order to copy your entire iTunes folder to your new laptop.  If that isn't possible, the first thing you would need to do is copy any music you didn't purchase from iTunes from your phone to your iTunes library on you new laptop using 3rd party software such as Touch Copy.  This can't be accomplished with iTunes (iTunes will only transfer purchased music from your phone).  You would also need to do the same thing with any Photo Library pictures on your phone that were synced from your old computer.  These can't be transfered with iTunes either.  Once you've done this, carefully follow the steps in wjosten's post here in order to sync your phone to your new laptop without losing data: https://discussions.apple.com/message/13356770#13356770.  (For Windows, substitue Outlook for Address Book/iCal in step 2.)

  • How to sync iphone with new laptop

    Hi,
I have an ihone 4GS which I had synced with my laptop.
Now, i have changed my laptop and want to sync my iphone with my new laptop.
pl. advice how can I do the same.
    Regards,

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • Re-register software on new laptop

I need to re-register my software on my new laptop but the registration screen locks up every time I try to register.  How can I re-register the software, I have five more tries left  before it will not work?

I guess I am not making myself clear.  When I launch Adobe PhotoShop CS6. a popup screen comes up and says the following:
    Sign In Required
Signing in with an Adobe ID and registering Creative Suite 6 Design Standard [English (North America)] is required within 4 days otherwise it will stop working.  Your Adobe ID provides you an easy way to access your serial numbers, as well as Adobe Creative Cloud and the Adobe.com community.
Sign in Later    Sign in Now
When I click "sign in now" it locks up, it never connects to the internet even though I am on the internet.  I don't get the "Activation screen, you will click "Having Trouble Connecting To The Internet.""  as you mention.  When I go to register the product as you mention in your first message, I get the following, "This serial number has already been registered. Products can only be registered once. Click here for more information."   So again, I am in a loop!  HELP!
    Thanks

  • I can't get my ipod to sync with new laptop. I have tried to erase and sync, I have authorized new laptop, and still can't get new songs on ipod. Help

I had to purchase a new laptop, since my old one crased. I downloaded iTunes, and my library came up. I followed the directions given, synced ipod, authorized computer and was given a pop up that stated 25 of my songs could not be transferred.Go to Store, authorize computer and resync. Which I did. When I authorize computer another pop up appears and it states this computer is already authorized. I am getting really frustrated. I have gone to the Apple store several times, had to make appointments as they were to busy to help me then. I show up for appointments to either be told, no appointment appears in their schedule, or they are running over an hour late. Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks

Why can't the songs be transferred to the device?  Is it because they are not authorized?  Were these 25 tracks purchased/downloaded with the same account you have used to authorize the PC/new iTunes library?

  • IPod will not sync with new laptop

Alright everybody, got a tough one here I can't seem to figure out. I have a 3rd generation iPod touch. I had it synced with my now secondary desktop that has my library and everything on it. I am now trying to get my iPod switched over fully to my new primary laptop. I am running iTunes 10.5 and iOS5. The iPod will sync fine with the desktop but when I try and sync and erase with my laptop absolutely no music will transfer over. I can click the device tab on the left and look at music and they are all grayed out as if they are ghost files. Does anybody have any suggestions? For the record I have tried to restore the iPod and set it up as a new iPod on the laptop but the music files still will not sync. I can go back and plug it in to my desktop and everything syncs fine. Thanks in advance.

Is your new computer authorized with the same account? About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Did you try to transfer purchases and back up manually before your sync?
Connecting to a new computer will erase your device during the first sync. But you can use the manual backup to restore from afterwards. Make sure to have at least onwe contact and event listed on that computer as well, syncing to an empty address book will delete contacts and calendars on the ipod.
Also check your restrictions, to make sure app installation is allowed.

  • ITunes wants to replace IPod contents with New Laptop Library

Help please guys. Please bear with me while I will try and explain what my problem is.
Purchased new laptop, loaded ITunes, authorised laptop as the 3rd of my 5 allowable computers, then finally transferred all purchased content to my Laptop via my IPod. I have since purchased various TV shows and songs off ITunes to my Laptop ITunes library. I have only now tried to sync my IPod for the first time with my Laptop and noticed that ITunes did not sync this new content. I then discovered that the reason for this may have been due to all the sync options were unchecked for all the media types which would explain why nothing happened.
Simple, I thought. I would check all the media types for sync and end of. No such luck. Each time I checked the option to sync any of the media type; a message would appear to warn me that the contents of my IPod would be replaced by the contents of my ITunes library. This I do not want. I wish to keep all my purchased content held on both my laptop and my IPod. Isn’t the point of synchronisation to update both the computer and IPod making sure both devices contain the same up-to date media irrespective to the contents of either.
Am I missing something really simple here or are these things made deliberately difficult?
    Any advice would be appreciated
    Thanks –tred3

  • Let iPhone sync with new laptop instead of old computer

I have a new laptop and copied my entire iTunes from the old computer to my new laptop, so I have exactly the same iTunes on my new laptop. My iPhone syncs with the old computer, but because I have a new laptop I want to sync it with the iTunes in my new laptop. but when I connect my iPhone to the laptop, it just doesn't show my iPhone anywhere or reacts on it at all. It's just like nothing happens when I connect it to the laptop. How can I make it sync with the new laptop?

You can create a fresh backup on your computer: Disable auto-sync when an ipod/iPhone is connected under preferences>devices in iTunes(under the edit menu if using Windows). Connect your phone, right-click the phone in the left device pane and select "Backup". Before doing so, make sure your computer is authorized: Store>Authorize this Computer.

  • Transferred my Library to new laptop, but how to associate/sync iPhone with new laptop?

I got a new laptop. The old laptop is still working. I transferred my library using the Home Sharing method and all of my items were moved except my apps. I plugged in my iPhone to the new computer and used "Transfer Purchases from iPhone" option and all of my apps were added to the library. But, now I don't know how to associate the iPhone with the new computer. When I plug in my iPhone to the new computer. It starts to sync. It says steps 1 through 3, spins for 20 seconds and says complete, but nothing was done. I do not get the "this iPhone is associated with another library" message when I plug it in to new computer, perhaps because I've authorized both computers. All I can find in my searches is how to avoid losing all of your data and how to transfer your library, but none has dealt with this exact situation. I am stumped as to how to get iPhone associated with new computer. Can I transfer my backup from the old computer and restore from backup? Other thoughts? Sorry if the answer is somewhere (I'm sure it is), but I have spent two days looking.

Randers4, so I carefully followed the directions (only one that confused me was about adding a fake address/calendar entry, is that for Macs, I'm using a PC?.)  I restored it from the backup and everything looked good. I had hope, the final step says to sync it and when I did, I had the exact same problem. It spun, went quickly through only 3 steps (even though there were 7 sync steps with my old laptop) and nothing changed. It clearly didn't sync.
So, I had an idea that I would back up everything by right clicking in the left pane and forcing a back up on the new computer, and then erasing the entire phone and then restoring from the backup I just made to see if that would make a difference. So, after I tried that and it restored, it was weird. All of my settings were there. Some folders were there, my pictures were there, but all of my apps, folders, music and video was missing and it still wouldn't sync. So, then I had to plug it back into my old laptop and do a restore from there to get that stuff back.
Shouldn't I get a message when I plug the iPhone into the new laptop saying this phone is connected to another computer? I tried "Reset Warning Messages" but it doesn't do anything. At this point, I don't care if I lose some of the stuff from my iPhone (texts, etc)...but I want it to sync to the new computer because my old laptop is on its death bed.
So frustrating, all of my iTunes content is on the new computer, the only piece that is missing is getting it to "talk" to the iPhone. Times like this I wish I wasn't a poor teacher and could afford to get a nice Mac laptop.

  • Sync with new laptop

I had to get a new laptop, how do I sync my iPhone with my new laptop since my old one is not working anymore?

Plug it in and sync it.
The current itunes content and pics will be erased and replaced with content from the new computer.
Also, if you sync to a blank computer, then your contacts and calendars will be erased.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
If you enter one unique contact and calendar entry on the computer, then you should get the option to merge the data when you first sync.

  • Issue with syncing iPod touch with new laptop

Hi, I am asking on behalf of my brother (who is very frustrated) about why his windows laptop is not syncing properly with his iPod touch 4th gen. He claims to have authorized the machine with his iTunes account but every time he syncs the iPod with the laptop, it demands that he delete all of his music and resync it. So he does as it asks and when he plugs it in again later, iTunes wants him to delete everything. He does have his device authorized with a few other computers. Could he solve his problem by deauthorizing them since he never plans to use them again? Thanks for any and all help.

To not lose anything do the following:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
The computer has to be authorized for his iTunes account. Since you can on have five computer authorized, he should deauthorize any unnecessary computer.
