Bundled WinDVD with 5.1-support ?

I got the MSI Ti4200-TD8X graphics board a few weeks ago and tried to view some DVD's on my TV.
I have an Audigy sound card and 5.1 speakers and so I wanted to try the Dolby surround experience. But unfortunately ;( all Audio options greater than 2 channels of the bundled WinDVD player were greyed out!!
So my question to this forum is if someone knows if this is a known OEM-restriction (like it is mentioned for some OEM-products on the Intervideo homepage). In this case the MSI homepage tells a lie

or is it an other soft- or hardware issue I couldn't figure out?
Last I want to tell you my system:
+ The DVD really has 5.1 sound
+ All drivers are up to date
+ Chaintech Apogee KT333 board
+ AMD Athlon 2000+
+ Audigy player sound card
+ MSI TI4200-TD8X graphics board
+ Win98 (I didn't try it on Win98SE till now)
P.S.: I wrote to MSI support some weeks ago but didn't get any answer

I had the same problem myself and I didn't gave it much thought since I mostly use PowerDVD for my DVD movies, but I eventully find out something. It work fo me perhaps it will work for you too.
First make user you have enable you speaker settings for your creative programs.
Then you propably have to enable them for the windows control panel. I have winXP Pro so I don't know exactly where there are in win98 but it should lie in your control panel. Find you speaker settings and click advance. There select your speaker settings. Then select ok and an ok again.
Run the program again and go to the setup option and then audio. You should see the option you want enable.
I don't know if this is going to help you but it work with me.

Bundle JMF with application or ask user to install it?

I have added some video capturing functionality to my application (not an applet).
Now I am not sure if I should bundle JMF with the application or if I should ask the user to download and install JMF him/herself. Personally I think it is nicer to have extensions like JMF installed so that they are available for other applications as well. But I wonder about the acceptance of users having to download and install something additionally to an application they are interested in.
Any experiences on that?

Ideally, you should support both options. The system should install out of the box
on standard configurations that you support, with as little extra work as possible.
However, there should be some way to work around this if JMF is already installed.
We use IzPack, and so far things have gone ok, but we haven't done anything really
complicated.
One tricky bit is that JMF has native libraries. I wanted to have an application that
needed native libraries to be nothing but an executable jar file, but I couldn't figure
out how to do it untill I found an article describing how to do this: basically you have
to copy the dll or .so file from the jar file to a tmp file, and then load it from the tmp file.
There is a web page somewhere that explains this, but I couldn't find it right away.

not sure if anyone knew about this but the New Realplayer 0.5 with Harmony Techology supports Zen products. It's a free download as well. It even works with my zen micro.
Just wanted to share this information. Maybe it might help those having trouble with WMP or Zen explorer/creative mediasource.....just another alternati've worth trying........
Also, I found it convenient that instead of dragging and dropping files into zen micro....you can just highlight/select the mp3s you want to transfer in the music library, right click, select copy to --> zen micro...and that's it...very easy all in one step...

It's nice that someone else is using the Real Player 0.5 with Harmony Technology and thinks it is as great as I do.
I have the Creative Zen Micro and my husband has the Nomad Muvo TX 256. After trying all the other players, including the, iTunes, Music Match, Windows Media Player 0 and the Creative Mediasource that was sent with our Creative Players, we both found ourselves using Real Player 0.5. It is so much easier to use and the Harmony Technology actually was the reason that I bought us the Creative players for Christmas.
As a computer age newbie, married to a computer geek, am surprised that we both ended up using the Real Player 0.5 on our seperate computers. (His uses Windows XP and I use Windows 2000) Hope everyone will give it a try.

FIRST OF ALL:
My HP Pavilion Laptop is about 3 years old.
My
sister's Dell Inspiron laptop is 3 years old.
My HP laptop is well-cared, as opposed to my sister's Inspiron Dell laptop, which is always thrown in dust without caring at all. Also, its battery is always inserted even when it is fully charged while the laptop is plugged in to the main power supply.
However, my laptop is either used on only battery, or on plugin. Also, it is kept from the dust. But, I really found that the battery of the Dell laptop still lasts about three and half hours, and there is no problem cooling fan is not properly properly.
I only remember one thing differently done on my laptop battery which is I charged it fully, then I stored it without using it for about four months, then when I reused it, I found it got worse over time. I.e. first time of using it after storing,I found
it empty, then I charged it again fully, however, then it lasted about 2 hours, then 1 and half hours, next an hour, now it is only lasting about 20 minutes without performance. If there is high performance, then
the computer shuts down suddenly.
My problem is follows:::
First: Whenever I inserted any Containing Data OR Data CD/DVD-RLightScribe discs, I found that HP optical driver was
unable to read them. When clicking on the optical disc drive 'double-click' while disc was inserted, then I found that disc opened as this way(NOTE: With a CD/DVD player is grayed out)
I was told 'I suspect the culprit might be hardware and lightscribe dive might be

I tried running the below command line to fix potential disk issue 'Chkdsk/r /f'
I cleaned the drive, discs, and so on.
I have uninstalled the all third-party data recording software.
I have uninstalled the Cyber DVD suite, lightscribe system software
which came pre-installed with my HP pavilion Notebook.
I have recovered my system from the HP Factory Recovery discs.
I have tried opening all those LightScibe discs not opening on my HP optical drive, on a Dell optical drive, and all of them were opened well, although Dell optical drive did not have a lightscribe feature at all., nor third party disc recording software.
However, the problem is still with opening the discs LIGHT-SCRIBE.
Thus, my questions are:
How to determine if the drive is corrupted and needs to be replaced with another one.
I think there something needed to be done on the BIOS Of my HP laptop[[[A similar problems happened on my Desktop computer's optical drive which is as follows (ALL discs are opened as empty by Optical Drive of My Desktop Computer) ---while
my optical drive of my desktop was connected to the
primary slave IDE, and the HDD was connected to the primary master IDE, the optical drive and hard disk are functioning well. However, I remember that while burning an image with Nero essential V: 5, something went wrong, and
then the Optical Drive of My Desktop Computer (HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NP20) became NOTrecognised/Installed on

Insane day with Adobe India support becomes disaster

I started with a few problems with Pr CS6 suddenly unable to render anything above 720 after the recent "updates". After several hours with Adobe India "support" uninstalling video drivers and things kept getting worse and worse. Suddenly the support person, Richa Sethi, said it was time for her to go home... Gone!!! When I called back a few hours later I was told there was "no record" of my previous support call... and the new support person proceeded to do even more damage, concluding with the suggestion that I reolad the operating system. And all the programs. And all the updates. And all the rest.
Not in any mood to waste a few dozen hours, I contacted Nivida (also in India, unfortuantely) who managed to at least restore the functions that Adobe India Support had managed to destroy... And now I can again use other programs (Edius 6.5)... but Premiere CS6 and CS5 still open to a blue screen... which is worse than when I started with only a rendering issue... and a DVD compliling issue... and a Media encoder failure problem. A few weeks back they spent a month on a codec issue... and failed to solve that problem. (I eventually found the solution in the forum)
Somebody needs to start a very large class action lawsuit against Adobe for inflicting this kind of incompetence on an unsuspecting public. If I had some way of reverting my existing CS6 projects to CS5.5 or CS5 I would demand a total refund for this worthless waste of time masquerading as an "update" by Adobe. I will certainly NEVER buy another Adobe product. Ever.
Hello, Adobe? You're not saving anything when your outourced foreign "support" wastes hours and hours and accomplishes absolutely nothing. Hire back the US techs who can speak clearly and actually solve problems instead of making things worse and worse and worse!!!

HP discontinued support (read: stopped updating their OS X printer drivers) for a lot of their printers back when Apple released Snow Leopard and dropped even more when Lion was released. This is an HP problem, not an Apple problem.
Exacty what printers are you having problems with?
If any of your printers are on the HPIJS list, try installing the HPIJS drivers (there are 3 files to install, and it won't hurt anything). This solved the issue for me on Snow Leopard, Lion and Mt. Lion with my older HP printers.

Problem with Variable Client Support

I work with Labview 8.5 and Crio 9014.
I have a problem with Variable Client Support. When I try to compile my project I have the following error:
"The Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support must be installed on the RT target for this application to function properly..."
I have read that we have to install the Variable Client Support in Measurement and Automation by right-clicking on the software and then choosing add/remove software but I can't install the appropriate shared variable components because I can't see neither Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support. So what can I do?

I have exactly the same problem. I wanted go through the "Getting Started with the LabVIEW RT module" and when I use wizard for generating new project I get same notification in my VI...
The Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support must be installed on the RT target
for this application to function properly. If the Network Variable Engine is not supported on
the target (e.g. FP-2000 with <32MB of RAM), open the project and move the variable library
to My Computer in the project. Doing this will deploy the variables to localhost but
will still require that Variable Client Support be installed on the RT target.
Could someone help please ?

IF that device works fine with your Tiger, big chance that device will work fine too with Leopard, especially if there is no drivers involved.
But I cannot be that sure since Leopard is not released yet.
But do check frequently to the device web site and apple sites.

Can anyone help me? I own a macbook with SuperDrive with double-layer support. I want to try to burn a dvd with the dual layer, how does this work? Which applications do i need? I have been searching for info on this subject but havent succeeded so far..

Any standard burning application such as Toast (or OS Xs built in burning) will burn a dual layer disk. You don't need to do anything special... it will just see the disk with double the capacity. What you do need to do is get dual layer DVDs. They're not all that easy to find at many retail stores, but they're pretty easy to find online.
