Bundling Siebel.jar in a commercial product

Hi,
I have a need to bundle Siebel.jar in a commercial product. What is the procedure to do this and what type of licensing actually it required to bundle it in the commercial product.
Thanks,
Ram

HI:
The footage for video is in DVCpro50, and so I am planning to use compressor-- but I have seen that Final Cut Pro has these "compression markers", and from what I read in the manual, you are supposed to place them upon camera angle changes and this helps reduce compression artifacts-- Is this something that you all do? Or is it unnecessary?
FCP place a Compression marker automatically on each edit point of your final sequence, but that auto markers (you don't see them !) are used only of you export your timeline directly from FCP to Compressor.
You must put your own markers if you want them in any special place with no edits.
And then lastly, when I have my normalized AIFF files, how will I tell compressor to compress the video of the DVCpro50 file, and replace the audio with the new AIFF files?
When you encode your clips to use in DVD authoring, you must encode your video and your audio to separate files: MPEG2 for videl and AC3 and/or AIFF for audio. That means, your MPEG2 files will have just your video, no audio.
So, the question is, what suggested compressor settings would you recommend for the 53 min video and the additional twenty-five mini videos ? Is it absolutely time to go DVD9 for sure when you have close to 3 hours of footage?
If you want to keep the max possible quality in all your clips, yes go to DVD9. To fit all the video in a DVD5 you'll have to encode the extra smaller videos to a very low bitrate what gives for sure lower image quality.
Using AC3 (Dolby 2) audio will give you extra space.
Hope that helps !

  • Can Adobe After Effects educational licence (version) be used for commercial products (such as DVDs attached on textbook)?

    I'm planning to purchase AE's educational licence and produce academic videos which will include AE's animations and templates. But there's some possibility that my video product to be sold as a part of textbook in the future (commercial). I would like to know if there's any restrictions relative to educational licence applying to commercial use. Thanks.

    Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
    I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
    Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
    I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
    The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house.  It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service.  Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen.  It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
    I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device.  I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream.  Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
    I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it.  Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Can I use logic loops in a commercial production?

    I am using the audio, drumbeats, drum kits,..the works in Logic to create a commercial track.
    Are there any restrictions on the use of these loops?

    You can find the Terms and Conditions in the License agreement. Basically, you can use all the loops and sounds that come with Logic studio for commercial use without any problem. However, you're not able to sell the loops by themselves unaltered as your own creations.
    If you listen to many commercial records.... Umbrella by Rhianna springs to mind, you'll find Apple Loops used in them.

    Are those part of the SmartSound Sonic Fire Library?
    If so, you will want to go to the SmartSound Web site: http://www.smartsound.com/ as they have all of the licensing info for their music. You should be fine, but I would check, just to be sure.

  • ITunes U for Commercial Product Training?

    I'm interested in talking with an Apple representative in the Seattle WA area to see how my company can use iTunes U for our product training.   We are not an educational institution, but do train thousands of people per year for how to deploy and use our products which are quite technical in nature.   Would anyone know how I can have this discussion with someone at Apple?   Thank you.

    The iTunes U Service has the following elegibility requirements.
    iTunes U is a free service available to qualifying K-12 school districts, two- and four-year accredited, degree-granting, public or private colleges and universities in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom. Universities and Colleges must enter into an iTunes U Service Agreement before being eligible to use the iTunes U service. Apple reserves the right to determine eligibility.

  • Legalities of using iDVD for commercial productions

    Hi all,
    How do I stand legally using iDVD to produce home movie DVDs commercially. I've search for answers to this with no clear reckoning.
    All input is most welcome.
    Thanks in advance.
    SR

    iDVD is not suitable for any commercial DVD titles (ie: replicated discs) . You need to use DVDSP or have someone do it for you. Factors like bitrate, for example, can really screw up a title - BEWARE- you might be OK, you might not.
    Remember, just because a disc works in your set top doesn't mean it will in others and there are millions of players in the world. Authoring a title using professional tools is needed to make sure certains aspects of a title adheres to the DVD spec.

  • VMware and Siebel in Production – We have a first customer!

    Hi All,
    Wanted to pass this along since it may be a first. When we checked just over a year ago neither Siebel nor VMware could produce a single Siebel customer running VMware in production. We knew of a few VMware web servers in production and a few VMware Dev/Test installations but not any full VMware enterprises.
    When this customer decided to go full VMware in production about a year ago as part of their Siebel 8.0 upgrade we were a little concerned since we knew they were going to be one of the very first.
    I am happy to report that after two months of live production usage with 14 servers in the enterprise everything worked out very well! All 14 server are VMware and even Avaya CTI is VMware.
    We know of one customer who recently decided against VMware in production since they were a little scared. I wanted to pass along the word that it worked great for our customer.
    Did anyone else beat us to production with VMware? Just wondering if this is a first.
    Take care,

  • Open source /  Commercial version, it's up to you! Why not for ESB products

    Please comment this forum and help us to get Sun's support for Open ESB as we can get it for open-Solaris or Glassfish.
    Thanks

    Jonathan Schwartz new policy
    Few years ago, Jonathan Schwartz replaced Scott McNealy as SUN Microsystems CEO. Swartz's first decision was to convert Sun into an Open-Source company. Consequently, Solaris OS, Application Servers and even the Java language were opened and their sources published. At present, Sun is viewed as a major Open Source actor.
    Suns new sales philosophy proposes, on one hand, its best products in an open-source format and on the other hand, commercial support and hardware. The best examples of this new philosophy are Open-Solaris and Glassfish. You can download these products, use them and test them. After you have built applications with these tools and wish to move into a production environment, you can buy support from Sun.
    Open source or Commercial version, it's up to you!
    Alternatively, you can as well buy commercial versions at the first place. Even if open sources and commercial versions are slightly different than the open-source ones, more than 95% of their code is originated from the same development branch. Example : SUN proposes its queue messaging system with two similar versions, respectively named SUN QM and "Open-MQ". The only difference is the amount you pay for the technical support.
    Everyone can find advantages in this sales policy on Sun products: companies and developers try and develop for free and can rely on Sun support in production. As a matter of fact, Sun uses these free products as Trojan horses to conquer new market shares, penetrate new companies and sell Sun hardware.
    Why not for ESB Products ?
    Unfortunately, there is a small issue in this picture: Sun's ESB platform is the exception in this sales policy. In Fact, Sun proposes two different tools for ESB developments. The first product. "JCAPS", is a commercial product inherited from Seebeyond. The second product, "Open-ESB" is based on JBI specifications (JSR 208) and was developed from scratch about 2 years ago.
    Alas, JCAPs and Open-ESB are definitely two different products.
    JCAPS ignores JBI specifications
    JCAPS connectors are based on JCA specifications and not on JBI.
    Open-ESB development process is based on Web services specifications, JCAPS not.
    JCAPS and Open-ESB developments are not compatible.
    Hundreds other differences can be found between the two products.
    We can understand that for a while, for technical, marketing or business reasons, a company supports more than one product lines with the same functionalities. IBM does it and Oracle buying BEA will do it also.
    However, there are several things that Pymma would like to understand:
    Why the download of JCAPS is only available for authorized JCAPS Partner ?
    Why SUN does not provide support for open-ESB as it does for Glassfish, Open Solaris or Open MQ ?
    Why JBI or Open-ESB are never mentioned at most ESB seminars organized by Sun Centres in the UK ?
    Why Sun marketing, Gurus or consultants are prolix about JBI in the public lectures and technical forums, and at the same ignore Open-ESB when they advice companies ?
    Is the policy of Jonathan Swartz policy only applicable for Java Legacy applications (Application Server, Message queuing)? not for ESB tools ?
    Of course, we already asked these questions to SUN but we never got clear answers.
    Thanks for clarifying Sun's position
    Many companies believe in JBI and their developers spend time and energy working on Open-ESB . These companies would certainly be interested to hear Sun's explanations on the above questions. They probably want to be sure that Open-ESB will not be just a prototype for the new JCAP version (only reserved for SUN JCAPS Partners). They certainly want to be credible by proposing SUN's professional support on Open-ESB as they do for Glassfish and Open-Solaris. After, they only need from SUN to clarify its position and give a clear prospective for the future of JBI and Open-ESB. We hope that through this blog Sun will hear us and we will give us clear answers.

    Hi Leonie,
    My iPhoto is iPhoto 11, version 9.4.2.  I believe my Aperture is the latest version but I don't know how to verify that when I can't open it.  I regularly accept any updates.
    How I restored my Aperture Library: I opened Aperture, clicked on Time Machine, and navigated to the Aperture Library that had been backed-up earlier in the day.  It took a while to restore.
    When done, I opened Aperture (yes, at that point I could still open it).  It opened up on the still-empty Library, and I had to manually change it to the restored library, every time I opened aperture after that.  This was annoying, so, I then went to FINDER and deleted the empty Library.  I probably shouldn't have done this; I noticed it had the words "current default" in its filename.
    From that point on, FINDER shows the restored aperture library (actually two restored aperture libraries, since I accessed Time Machine a second time to restore an even older backed-up version) but of course, not the empty Library that had had "default" in its filename.  And... I can no longer open Aperture.
    Hope you can help me, thanks so much,
    Glensdaughter

  • Bundling .jar files to .app in Mavericks?

    So I just updated to Mavericks like everyone else because it's free. However I am a Java developer and I would like to bundle my .jar files into a Mac executable. However, a few things have changed with Mavericks, as with all updates to OS X. For one thing, there's no /usr/share/ant/ directory. There's /usr/share/, but not an ant/ folder.
    So my point is this: do you know of a good updated site that shows jar bundling?

    This is how I managed to do it. I use NetBeans to compile to a .jar file. You also need to have the Java jdk1.7.0_45.jdk installed.
    A) Download apache-ant-1.9.3-bin.tar.gz from http://ant.apache.org/bindownload.cgi to your Downloads folder
    B) In the terminal do the following (taken with some changes from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3222804/how-can-i-install-apache-ant-on-mac-o s-x)
    cd ~/Downloads # Let's get into your downloads folder.
    tar -xvzf apache-ant-1.9.3-bin.tar.gz # Extract the folder
    sudo mkdir -p /usr/local # Ensure that /usr/local exists
    sudo cp -rf apache-ant-1.9.3 /usr/local/apache-ant # Copy it into /usr/local
    # Add the new version of Ant to current terminal session
    export PATH=/usr/local/apache-ant/bin:"$PATH"
    # Add the new version of Ant to future terminal sessions
    echo 'export PATH=/usr/local/apache-ant/bin:"$PATH"' >> ~/.profile
    C) Get appbundler-1.0.jar  from http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/jweb/packagingAppsForMac.h tml
    There is some good detailed information there also about bundling.You may need to set your JAVA_HOME parameter.
    D) Then comes the bundling procedure:
    1) Compile your source code to get a .jar file in the dist folder.
    2) Make a bundle file or if you use Netbeans, edit the file build.xml in the top project folder.
    <taskdef name="bundleapp"
                 classname="com.oracle.appbundler.AppBundlerTask"
                 classpath="lib/appbundler-1.0.jar" />
        <target name="bundle">
            <bundleapp outputdirectory="dist"
                name="MySourceName"
                displayname="MySourceName"
                identifier="package.MySourceName"
                mainclassname="package.MySourceName">
                <classpath file="dist/MySourceName.jar" />
                <option value="-Dapple.laf.useScreenMenuBar=true"/>
           </bundleapp>
        </target>
    Edit the above text in some simple text editor and exchange MySourceName with your project name and  “package” with your package name. The line <option value="-Dapple.laf.useScreenMenuBar=true"/> will make your menu be placed in the Mac style.
    Note! Beware of the difference “ and ". The corrrect one is the latter. TextEdit changed my hyphens to the bad ones which screwed up the bundling..
    The edited file should reside in the top project folder under the name build.xml.
    3) Place the appbundler-1.0.jar in a new “lib” folder in the top project folder.
    4) Run terminal . Go to your Netbeans project folder using the cd command. The do
       ant bundle
    and wait for BUILD SUCCESSFUL
    The bundled Mac application will reside in the dist folder.
    How to fix a specific icon to the application:
    5) Open the bundled Mac application by CTRL-click and choose “Show Package Contents”
    6) Double-click the Contents folder to open it. Put your tailor-made application icon “XXX.icns” in the Resources folder. Open the Info.plist and change Generic.icns to XXX.icns. Close the application folders. Sometimes the icon will only show up afterf you copy the application to another folder
    Optional (This will make your application very big as it includes the Java jdk in the application, I didn't do this step. The only advantage is that it will make the application independent on the user having Java installed.a )
    7) To include the jdk, open the app folder and put a copy of the jdk1.7.0_45.jdk in the Plugins folder.
    Edit the Info.plist by adding a new child: JVMRuntime containing a string, jdk1.7.0_45.jdk

    Hi,
    Yes you can, but you should be aware of the limitations of MS SQL Express version.
    1. 1GB RAM
    2. 10 GB database size per database excluding log file (SQL 2008 R2 and above)
    3.Job Scheduling service is not available with SQL Server Express.
